Majesco Raze's Hell X Box Action Review

Majesco Raze's Hell

Description
A darkly comic action-shooter set in a fantasy world overrun by fiendishly cute creatures, Raze's Hell follows the exploits of Raze, a monstrous anti-hero who takes a no-holds-barred approach to stopping an onslaught of adorable characters and restore his planet to its naturally ugly state.

Under the leadership of their twisted Princess, the Kewletts are trying to impose their disturbingly distorted view of utopia upon the masses. Raze goes to war against the Kewletts, gaining the respect and assistance of some of the other inhabitants of the planet. As he grows in power, Raze works his way closer to the capital of Kewtopia to uncover the truth behind the Kewlett takeover.

Summary:
In the kingdom of Kewtopia, lollipops grow on farms, rainbows are permanent fixtures of the sky in spite of the perpetually sunny weather, and every lawn is in perfect, lush condition. In their happy little world of hearts and smiley faces, the Kewletts live contentedly under the benevolently watchful eyes of their pink-clad princess. However, one day, on murky motives, the Princess declares that the uglier lands outlying their kingdom need to know the immeasurable joys of cuteness and sunshine, even if they have to kill every last one of the hideous wretches to bring it to them.

If this doesn't sound familiar, try watching CNN for a few seconds, and it will. If you catch the social commentary, it's immediately clear that this isn't a conventional fairy tale. Also, like its spiritual brethren in the Shrek movies, this fairy tale doesn't give its happily ever after to its most photogenic players. You play an ugly monstrosity named Raze, and it's up to you to keep your homelands as ugly as they should be. With a spike on your left arm and a mouthful of bugs as a gun, you fight back the Kewlett invaders on your way to the Princess' castle within the heavily fortified walls of Kewtopia. The Kewletts are a diverse but uniformly adorable group, ranging from lollipop-wielding guards to snipers, rocketeers, and heavily armed, heavily armored forces who drop from the sky on the scariest rainbows you'll ever see. To the delight of anyone who ever wanted to play with his little sister's beloved Care Bears and his own beloved Daisy at the same time, the Kewletts contain inhumanly vast quantities of blood, which splatters out with every bullet/bug that hits. As either a commentary on W's foreign policy or an opportunity to make a cuddly fuzzy kittycat explode in a fountain of viscera, this mystical kingdom doesn't exactly get the Walt Disney treatment.
