Description Tao Feng - Fist of the Lotus is the perfect blend of fighting realism and stunning special effects. Tao Feng: Fist of the Lotus delivers a classic battle between good and evil as two ancient Chinese clans of superfighters, each seeking to uncover the secrets of immortality, battle for dominance. Hand-to-hand combat is furiously intense with amazingly realistic fighting and stunning special effects. Arenas are highly interactive and destructive. When the fight ends, players will witness the devastation of battle.
Summary: As one of only a few fighting games exclusive to the Xbox, Tao-feng doesn't really have much competition. Even so, it certainly doesn't dissapoint. Its a real treat for the senses for sure, and the gameplay has a few welcome twists that set it apart from the average button-masher.
The main problem with it is that it leaves you wishing there was more of it.. more environments, more polish, more characters, more music, more plot, more unlockables and perhaps some more engaging play modes.
TF gets the basic, important stuff right, but it could do with a little buff and polish before competing with the mighty DOA3.
If your a fighting fan and have a Xbox, its a no-brainer; Tao Feng is a good, solid fighter. If you're a casual gamer, it might be prudent to wait for a sequel.
Summary: Tao Feng: Fist of the Lotus plays as two different games.
The first is an incredible looking fighting game with unique characters that have astonishing moves and are always moving menacingly, ready to fight. Although the gameplay can’t compete with the combat of the DOA titles, it’s still great to watch. This game is accessed only by selecting a male fighter.
The second is a fighting game with incredible looking characters whose moves are frequently sensual, outfits often astonishing, and move as if they’re enjoying themselves a little too much. Shockingly, the jiggle effect rivals that of the DOA titles so by default, it’s great to watch. Of course, this game is accessed by selecting a female fighter. The difference between the two is quite seriously very noticeable and very distracting.
Live As for Live compatibility, Tao Feng has neither online multiplayer nor downloadable content.
Suggestions Tao Feng should have made a volleyball game and DOA should have skipped “X” and gone straight to 4. The Xbox really needs another great fighting game.
Conclusion If you’ve always wanted to watch Kung fu trained hookers and ho’s kick the crap out of each other than Tao Feng may be for you. If you appreciate great fighting games, then save your $54 for something that takes itself a little more seriously.
Summary: In 20 years of playing games and reading reviews, I have never seen reviews range so far apart than on this game. I read all the reviews I can and from all the sorces I can find, before I buy and or rent a game. With Tao Feng, it seems to be either a rating of 1/2 to 9/10. I have never seen a middle ranking for this game anywere. People or Mags either love it or hate it. I ran across this game today for sale and bought it, and I have to say, other than the small list in the Gameplay section that I have posted, this game is pretty good. I cant see why those who rate it low are so rough on the game. If I could rate it 1 to 10 I would give it a 7 or8. But my advice to any game is to rent it first (DUH)...
Summary: It's no secret the Xbox lacks fighting games in general, not just high quality ones. Like any other game, it's good or bad depending on who you talk to. I don't usually write reviews, but this game seems to be in review limbo, not great and not horrible. I love this game so much I am putting my two cents in. After playing doa3, Mortal Kombat, Kakuto Chojin plus fighting games for the ps2 as well, I can say I thing Tao Feng delivers. Great visuals, gameplay, sound and a few new twists make this one shine.
