Price Paid:  $20.00 from gameshack

Summary:
This game is another from the everlasting Mortal Kombat universe. I must say it was one of the better ones. I still think they should lay this franchise to rest. Overal worth a rent, especially when you have somebody over you can play them.

Strengths:
Great new Martial Arts moves, bloody kills, and the graphics were pretty sweet. There is added mini-game variety in the game.

Weaknesses:
Same old classic 3D yet not fully 3D game series graphics. Prefered more character selection. Finally please stop, really we don't need another Mortal Kombat game.

Summary:
The Xbox is strangley short of fighting games on the whole so if, like me, you need something to fill the void, you may well be tempted by Deadly Alliance. The latest in a long line of Mortal Kombat games, MK:DA carries on the MK tradition of non-stop, gorey violence, only adding a few superficial innovations to the tried and tested formula.

Unfortunately the MK games havent matured with thier audience.. I remember thinking characters like Johnny Cage and Sonya Blade were lame when I was a teenager.. I can't say they've grown on me much since.

If youre a die hard fan of the series, or like the thought of an inanely camp fighting game with plenty of characters, special moves and unlockable extras, MK:DA may well be worth the cash. If you appreciate quality over quantity, may I recommend the hugely underrated Tao Feng.. I'm assuming you've already got DOA3.

Price Paid:  $30.00 from Fred Meyer

Summary:
Compared to DOA3, MKDA is a wanting piece of trash. The controls are horrific, which is the worst part of the game. Combos require hitting patterns of buttons so quickly that it's damn near impossible--and I've mastered the Xbox S-controller along time ago. This game is poorly made. The developers obviously didn't do much testing of controls on the Xbox. The controls seem more like there made for a coin-op where you can hit the buttons much faster. Hell, even when you do pull off a good combo it's not that impressive and doesn't do enough damage to warrent the effort.
