Rockstar Games Red Dead Revolver X Box Action Review

Rockstar Games Red Dead Revolver

Description
A blazing third person gun slinging action game, Read Dead Revolver is fueled by a revenge driven storyline punctuated with dark humor. The arcade style gameplay blends seamlessly with the elements of the Wild West era. Full motion capture cutscenes and breathtaking visuals fuel the cinematic ambition of the game. Inspired by the Spaghetti Westerns of the 1960's and 1970's, Red Dead Revolver is the first game to fully explore the Wild West era, rather than use it simply as a backdrop. It pays homage to the classic tales of vengeance on the untamed frontier, where life is reduced to its simplest form - the clothes on your back, your gun, and maybe a horse.

Summary:
For a practically non-existant genre this game had a lot to live up to, if this were a bad effort western fans would have been disapointed and left with..well nothing ! Fortunatly its a great game, forget what you've read in the magazines, these people refuse to acknowledge a game unless it has fast cars, futuristic weapons or wonnabe Gangster action. Red Dead is the very embodiment of all those Clint Eastwood westerns you used to see on Satuday afternoons when you were a kid. It has all the classic scenery, sounds costumes, weapons etc that you would expect from a Cowboy Game.

Anyway the game is brilliant, once you get used to the strange control method it starts to feel really natural and I found it quite easy to pick up. I found the variation in the levels was fantastic as you had all the stereotypical environments like the Canyons, The Old creepy Shanty town plus a fantastic part of the game when you get to have a proper western style Bar brawl.

I was never really a fan of 3rd person games and sorry to say never thought much of the GTA series so when I saw this game was from the same developers I figured it would be the same kind of thing. This is however not the case, the ememies are intellegent and unforgiving (pun intended) and the the variation in charactors keeps things interesting. This is a good and chalenging shooter with a good selection of weapons and good replay value. I would recommend this to anyone who likes either shooters, cowboys/girls or all of the above. Top stuff.

Summary:
A great western game. Just like the old Clint Eastwood films. Rockstar did a fine job getting this one and releasing it. It is nice to see a different genre out there and the game is fun...Buy it.

Summary:
Here it is. The Wild West game everyone [apparently all three of us] have been waiting for. I was a bit disappointed with the reviews this game has recieved, apparently there's not too many gamers left who grew up on the Spaghetti Westerns of old. High Plains Drifter, Fist Full of Dollars, and of course, The Good, the Bad and the Ugly. This game does them all justice. From the Whew PING of the ricochets, to the unshaven hero left for dead, to the whistling italian western music that keeps you whistling yourself while you're at work the next day. It's all here. Grab your guns partner, and mount up for a long haul of good 'ol western fun.

Summary:
Here it is the game that almost never was. Rockstar picked up Red Dead Revolver after Capcom shelved it. This is the story of Red a young boy who witnesses the senseless muder of his parents. Years alter, as a adult, red sets out to figure out the mysteryb of their murder.
You can see where Rock Star added their touches to this game, but does it work? In a simple word YES, but RDR has its problems. I do think that if a sequel comes out that Rockstar will tighten up the nuts and bolts and make this game more than than this one is.
