UBI Soft Ghost Recon - Stonewall X Box Action Review

UBI Soft Ghost Recon - Stonewall

Description
In the wake of one of North Korea's worst famines, an insidious North Korean general influences the government to secretly divert humanitarian aid to beef up its army, slowly gaining power in the process. Fearful that North Korea is amassing huge quantities of military weapons, the new Chinese regime eliminates arms sales to North Korea. In response, the North Korean government initiates secret overtures to Russia, who strikes a quiet alliance.

Summary:
During the Korean and Vietnam wars neo-political juggernaughts in the United States and most of Europe battled the forces of "evil" through discrimination against races and cultures and by forcing their twisted form of capitalist democracy on helpless second and third world countries. Unfortunately for us, that's exactly what happens in GR2. Country tries to rule itself without America. This conflicts with the United States government imperialistic needs so they clam that the opposition party is a dictator and forces down communist ideals without even informing the public of the true intentions.
Apart from that "slight" dark spot Ghost Recon 2 is and amazing game. The Ghosts are smart and move where and when you tell them to. Your character - Scott Mitchell - can actually aim and is not totally dependant on his team for every little thing.
The weapons are accurate and on most accounts properly shown. Though there are a few bugs in terms of the enemies abilities to nail you with one shot with an AK-47 from 300 meters. Other than that i enjoyed the weapons.
Grenades and satchel charges are less up to par. I found it annoying that you could only throw the grenades two distances: not far enough and too far. Satchel charges are just the former. In real tactical operations you see soldiers throw explosive laden bags over two meter high walls. In GR2 you can barely throw them two meters.
Other than that the game is great. The action is really fast paced and story - if somewhat conservative - renforces the missions.

Summary:
Hat's off to Ubisoft! Ghost Recon 2 is exactly what I expect in a sequel. A vast improvement over it's previous version and a nearly total "from the ground up" re-design. This is what everyone dropping 50.00 per game should demand from these game designers- not just a tweaked or an enhanced version of a previously released game from a template that you've already paid an outrageous price, (hear that Bungie)?
Ghost Recon 2 shines through in a sea of lousey sequels. GR2 rocks! This is a real value for your dollar. Ubisoft has to be the best video game company, without doubt in buisness at this time. They release games in the military genre that best everything in it's field. Splinter Cell, Ghost Recon, Rainbow 6 and the release games in a consistent timeline and these games are without doubt the best. What can we expect from Halo and Bungie, 3 games per decade??? GR2 is what Full Spectrum Warrior should have been.
