from Electronic Boutique Summary: "I want you, darlin'... But not in a good way" *********************************************** This game was highly anticipated when it appeared on the xbox, largely because there was so little available on Microsoft's mean machine at the time of her arrival. There were a large number of people, myself included, that were banking on this game being the next reason to own an xbox.
When it hit the shelves, it was greeted with extremely mixed reviews; it seemed that either people loved Buffy or hated her. Since it obviously wasn't the 'xbox killer app' that it was hyped up to be, I passed it up until recently.
I guess the cleanest, easiest way to sum Buffy up is by calling it a 3rd person beat-em-up with adventure elements. In tagging it so, though, you completely strip it of any dignity and personality that they game has. I would call Buffy: The Vampire Slayer (btvs) a quirky game. It aims to do quite a bit and only fails on a few levels. I'll touch on this in the gameplay section.
The main aim for BTVS that I recongnize is the combonation of Tomb Raider, Max Payne, and Final Fight. Think of yourself as a kung-fu Laura Croft with flashy slow-mo moves and you get a good idea how the basic gameplay mechanics work.
So the question that I have to answer now, before I finish the summary is this: does the good outweigh the bad in BTVS? I'll give that a pretty strong yes answer.
4 out of 5 Have realistic expectations while you play. Definately rent Buffy first since no two people can agree on this title. Report this review >>
