Summary:
This game certainly brings back memories to pumping quarters in to the original Dragon's Lair of the 80's. The difference now is you have real-time control over the valiant Dirk the Daring. This Bluth classic is not without flaws however.

Summary:
It has some nostalgic value but is it worth buying? Unfortunately, the gameplay is not much better than the original. The graphics are good, the controls are not. The opening cut scene looked like a poor transfer from the original. I think it was pasted together from the original to make a new ending in which you do not save Daphne? The transfer look very poor. I don't know why they did this. This game really could have used a new cut scene to introduce the new story. Its the little details like this where I think the game fails. The final product lacks the polish of a really good game. In this respect I don't think it does the original game justice. In the end I agree with what some of the other reviewers have said "For the best Dragons Lair experience, get the DVD version of the original". If you looked hard enough, for the same %50, you could probably find the Dragon's Lair 20th Anniversary DVD Box Set. This set includes Dragons Lair, Space Ace, and Dragons Lair II Time Warp interactive DVDs which play just like the original in you DVD player.

Summary:
1st of all, don't listen to Gamespot's poor review of rating this game a mediocre. Anybody who played Dragon's Lair in the 80's will definitely appreciate this excellent new improved addition to their Xbox gaming collection!! If you doubt me, just rent it first, I'm sure you'll be buying it!!! I have the new 20th anniversary original Dragon's Lair dvd collection as well!!!

Summary:
I grew up with the original Dragons Lair in the arcade back in the 80's and I was so excited to see a remake for the almighty XBOX.And whether you know anything about the original is really not important, because this is a whole new ball of wax. Unlike it's fantastic original counterpart, Dragons Lair 3D is just that, 3D, and it's in real time. It utilizes aspects of the original and will bring back some memories. You still use Dirk's trusty sword more than ever, you still have to escape those darn floors that disappear from under you and you have to find that whiny princess. However, being a remake, this time you have full control of Dirk unlike the original. You now have the ability to roam and do what you want, go back to a room, look around etc. But Dragons Lair was a genre of game that was never seen before, it was a cartoon. The developers from UBI Soft tried to keep the faith of the original, and I have to say they succeeded in fantastic fashion. The standout aspect of this game has to the graphics. This is what the XBOX can do, and Dragons Lair is a great show off for visuals. From a technological standpoint, you won't find any better on the XBOX.(Well of course HALO is still up there)

Is the game perfect, no. I have to admit, the control is pretty tough to master, and you will have some frustrating sequences where you will die over and over. But with some patience and a lot of time on your hands, Dragons Lair will be worth your while. Hardcore gamers will love it, but novice gamers may want to look elsewhere because of a steep learning curve. With the exception of some gameplay issues though, pick this baby up now.
