Acclaim Burnout X Box Racing Review

Acclaim Burnout

Description
Burnout reinvents high-risk racing with the only high speed, high-energy, pulse-pounding arcade style street racer on the Xbox. Based on real-life crash dynamics, Burnout’s action will leave you sweating, short of breath and totally in shock. Hyperventilating is part of the fun.

Summary:
What a great racing game! An intense nail-biter of a game. This game has everything you'll ever want in an arcade racing game: intense sense of speed, brutal crashes, intelligent and aggressive AI, great graphics and perfect control. I agree with a prior reviewer who said that playing Burnout is like being in the movie "The Fast and The Furious". It's the best street racing game I've ever played, and I've played a lot of them (it's even better than Tokyo Extreme Racer 2 on Dreamcast). I'd rank this as the second best racing game on the XBox (I'd say Moto GP is the best racer on XBox and perhaps the best racing game ever - sorry Project Gotham and Rallisport).

Traditional is the one word that really puts down for this title. It's fast, receptive, and the music is oldschool.

Price Paid:  $6.00 from Blockbuster

Summary:
I only rented this game from BlockBuster and I would say that it is not worth the $50 price tag. I may buy it when it goes on sale but it's not anything to be bought right away unless you like crappy gameplay arcade style games. This game has it's fun spots but it can get tedius and boring after a couple hours of game play. The best part of it would be the head to head racing.

Summary:
First on PS2, then on Gamecube, now on XBOX! Which is best? Hard to say.If you're lucky to have a choice between the 3, I'd say go for the Gamecube version for the fact the controller on the Cube is still the best gamepad in the universe. In terms of graphics, the PS2 suffers the most and has the most load times. The Gamecube has the least load times and the XBOX takes a close 2nd. But if you are strictly an XBOX owner, you need this game added to your library. This game is an instant rush and anyone can play it.

This game deserves more recognition and would make a tasty treat for your XBOX. Midway is back on track and it's so good, they even already started making a sequel. Take note that this is not the deepest plunge you'll take on a racing title, but it's definitely one of the most entertaining ones I've ever experienced in a long time. It's fresh, it's fun, and it's worth the dough!

The most enticing aspect of this title is the sense of speed, it's absolutely the fastest speed demon I've ever come across, and that fact alone should draw you in to having it in your library. Pile on 14 well designed tracks, nice car selection and plenty of different game modes, and you'll want to play over and over. Burnout is a must have, buy it now and let out some road rage in the privacy of your own home.

The perfect epitemy of a rental. Game is too easy and I've already beaten on the third day of the five days I rented it. There are some high points to Burnout, but the low points exceed the highs.
