Review NaN of 20
, from Phila. Pa

Price Paid:  $25.00 from EB games

Summary:
There is no replay camera other than the one behind the car.....which you just played, so the movie replay that is present in the PS2 version is not there. WHAT IS THAT??? Unacceptable!
With the almighty Xbox there aren't any cheat codes available as in the PS2 version either. I don't care to play this game for 30 hours to unlock the cars and tracks that are available in the PS2 version with just a few codes entered.
Half the fun of a driving game is watching the replay. WHY did they Jap this Xbox version out of such a cool feature????
This Xbox release stinks compared to the PS2's. You can easily tell by the difference in the prices between the two in stores.
This is a real slap in the face to Xbox owners who paid the same retail price for this 1/2 game as did the PS2 owners!
I have every system that is/was made. When changing from a console game that uses the D pad to steer to a console game that doesn't or won't, it is very difficult to enjoy. The Xbox version does NOT allow the use of the D pad. You must use the left stick. Now, being that the D pad could have easily been used or reconfigured in setup and wasn't is just another clear indication of this games shortcomings.
Clearly this is another example of cash over content. "Take your cash and offer little content"
When the "new" Xbox version is selling for $19.99
and the "used" PS2 version is still $45.00 there is something seriously wrong.
I have tried to and still do prefer Xbox to PS2, but if these ridiculous and needless differences with the games and cheat code aren't fixed, I will begin to purchase PS2 games "only" as a way of protest against this type of hack.
There is no excuse for a system that is capable of so much more than the PS2 to be dinked by such poor offerings.
Electronic Arts has had several game releases recently that have been very bad. The last one I bought new was NightFire. That game was so short that I will absolutely not buy anymore Bond titles. I suggest you wait for it to go used. Let's have some more evaporating dead guys... With the cash over content practices of EA, it won't take long for their games to appear on the used shelf at a substantially reduced price. Think about the money these people are making off of the consumer. These people are raking in billions of dollars in profit. There is no overhead! they produce a friggin plastic disc with data on it. A plastic box with a picture on it and ship in bulk. When you see a game come out and go on sale for $50.00 and then 6 mos. later sell new for $19.00 OR LESS, they are still making a profit at the lower prices, so how much money are they making at full retail? This is a racket of the worst sort. Then the retailer offers you $15.00 for a used game that they will sell for $45.00.
Buy a new game, play it a week and trade it in on another overpriced game and loose 60/70%. Rent it and play it a week and it costs you 6 bucks!
I say...cut these retail crooks off at the knees and start renting the games. Find out for yourself if the game sucks and is a ripoff!
Buy the game that you like after it comes down in price and KEEP it.
Two things will happen. 1 the theives like EB games will have to reduce prices of retail games because they aren't selling, and 2 the game developers will stop ripping the public with garbage games. Stop depending on sold out magazines and websites to give you the truth about games when they depend on advertisers for their cut of your money.
I actually read in a magazine I subscribe to that they put out a false cheat code for DOA volleyball so that you could get topless girls and then they laughed about fooling people. How many people bought or rented that stinking game only to find out the bastards at Electronic Gaming Monthly made it up? How many millions were generated for the advertisers there???

That is why this site is so important.

Developers want the cash...start giving us content!!!

This game is a real disappointment but par for EA.

Review NaN of 20
, from Canada

Price Paid:  $20.00 from Future Shop

Summary:
Overall a very well put together racing game. You have multiple races and quite a few actual real cars to pick. It reminded me of the PS1 game of NFS High Stakes which I played quite a bit. Obviously the game overall is much better than High Stakes in every aspect and that is exactly what I was looking for.

Summary:
This is a fun game, but something does seem missing. Ultra realistic graphics would've made the experience ten times more effective but for whats here it's pretty good. The car handling isn't the greatest and it's only the addition of the cops that stops this from being a really boring racing game, but they ARE there, and so it's not. If you're looking for a quick arcadey style blast then investigate this title, there quite a lot to do and there's enjoyment in here. Just know it's not the best or anything and you're away! This continues EA'S now infamous tradition of very very Lazy ports to the xbox. Sad.
