Summary:
Plays well, pretty straight forward water racer with no real thrills. Feels much more simulation than arcade, that has to be noted. The water physics really are nice, and a lot of work has gone into them. More work on the background/character would've touched everything up no end. But nothings really bad here. A simple fun alternative to road racing, and it feels real too. Not sure how long you'll want to keep at it, but is fun in 20 min bursts.

Summary:
There is a continuing debate as to whether Xbox versions of multiplatform games are better than their counterparts. Rest assured, after a session of Splashdown on the Xbox, this debate should be put to rest. Don't get me wrong, the PS2 version is good but the Xbox version is superior in just about every way as evidenced by the better graphics and sound and the two stages that were custom built for the Xbox. The water physics are excellent and some of the best I've ever seen in a game, the sound is beautiful, not only with the effects but the soundtrack as well, and the gameplay is truly pick-up-and-play yet difficult to master. Overall, this game and others such as Project Gotham Racing, Moto GP, and Rallisport Challenge cements the Xbox's reputation of having the racing game market cornered.

Price Paid:  $50.00 from Gamestop

Summary:
overall you can tell this game was born on a ps2. The only difference is 2 extra tracks, custom soundtrack and cleaner graphics. Just be warned that the gameplay gets stale quickly mostly because of the poor track design and repetitive water. The rubber band AI didn't help either(it's almost as bad as Atari's Test Drive.) You also have very limited control of your vehicle, which can be sporadic. Also, there isn't a incentive to trying out the more difficult stunts because they don't do anything different than a regular one. The career mode is cut and dry, and i don't want to replay it after beating it once. 2-player is boring, and isn't helped by this game being unplayable with the original X-box controller(the r button gets stuck)
In the end I'd advise to put your $50 elsewhere.

Surprise!

I bought a PS2 port for my XBOX and I swore I never would. I did this after seeing a splashdown video @ NLGAMING.com. The game looked like alot of fun and the water graphics looked awesome.
