Summary:
FIFA 2004

Review by Steven Pyott.

The ultimate football game is back! FIFA 2004 is now on the X-box and is better, smoother, and more realistic than previous games in this series. Win your way to the top and enter cup competitions like the FA cup and Carling cup. Choose your team, manage it, and beat other teams. This game is more than just a game that promises to totally destroy the defences of the opposition.

When I went out to buy a new game for my X-box, I chose FIFA 2004. I was stunned and very impressed with the game. It was very addictive to play. I immediately thought that this game is the best football game ever to play on a console, since ISS Pro’ 98 was on the old Play station console; in fact FIFA 2004 on the X-box could beat it hands down.

Summary:
Fifa 2004 was a dissapointment this year. They have added a few new features this time most noticebly the off the ball control feature which works pretty well, one button will activated the feature and you can control the other player by using the opposite anolog stick.

The commetary this time is awful, it seems that the developers have added about 5 new prases of which there is an awful lot of pausing in between the sentence I think they are trying to give the commetary a more realistic sound.
Also the commentary can be very annoying when it has been a brilliant game with plently of shots and goals and the commentater says the game has been rather boring, in fact the commentater is always critisising the football on the field.

What is terrible in this game is if you enter a cup competition like the FA Cup you face mediocer oppenents throughout the tornement. I got to the final and vrs Colchester and it was played a D3 stadium. I mean you expect to play a Premiership Team at a great venue which should be Cardiff stadium.

Overall Fifa could do with a complete revamp in the series by giving the game a more pick up and play arcade feel as Fifa is famous for.

The flow of soccer is slower than most games percieve. This game happens to nail the feel of soccer to the "T".

Summary:
I got hold of Fifa 2004 the day it was released on October 24th. As a season ticket holder at Man City (therefore I watch football every week) I was not impressed at last years effort by the name of Fifa 2003. It was not really true to life. The play was poor with hardly anyone making useful runs into space. It was a tad unrealistic( The goat scored a 40 yard volley at Old trafford). Once I mastered it it wasnt worth playing. The moment I won the premiership title with Man City on world class mode I stopped playing. It was too easy. However Fifa 2004 has improved alot since then. I was pleased to see the inclusion of the lower leagues in the game. Players can now embark on a career in which you can take an unfasionable 3rd division side into europe(easier said than done) The main gripe with this is that it only lasts 5 years...(game years)
Combine that with an evil marketing ploy that is Football Fusion and you have FIFA 2004.
