Description Forza Motorsport revs up Xbox gamers who are passionate about cars and racing. Forza Motorsport is the ultimate car-lover’s playground, letting gamers buy, sell, trade, tune, modify and race their customized car collection. On the track, players experience an impressively accurate simulation, putting their performance-tuned creations to the test against the best the online world has to offer on Xbox Live.
Summary: I was very skeptical of this game, since it was evidently a first-time effort at a racing title by the dev team, garnered a great deal of pre-release hype, and then once it hit shelves, received phoned-in, gushing reviews from the gaming media. So I am very, very glad I waited to pick up a discount-bin copy for $20 rather than purchasing the game when it was first released. Forza is at best a mediocre racing game, treading the same ground as many titles before it with less than stellar results. Whatever nice features it offers in terms of customization and variety of race courses is torpedoed by awful graphics, and an arbitrary physics approach that sends the AI cars serenely sailing by you as you spin helplessly on the track shoulder.
Summary: Forza is one of the best racing game ever made outclassed only by Grand Turismo 4. Gran Turismo has much more cars (720+)than Forza (230+). However, Forza is more realistic than Gran Turismo. If you don't belive me, check the April 2005 issue of Popular science. Also, you can add deep customization to each veichle. Those being changing rims, tinting windows, changing the front and back bumper (may affect preformance),side skirts (may affect preformance),hoods, spoilers (can be adjusted for downforce),roll cage, and lenses. In addition, you can slap decals on,vinyl designs(up to 100 layers on each side of the car, this will cost nothing). You can also change the color or your car, hood, mirrors, and wing(For free!). Hmmm...sounds like Need for Speed underground 2? You can also change engine power by adding turbo kits, or if you hate the thing, change it by the engine swap feature(can only swap with a car of the same manufacture). You can also make many adjustments to the drivetran and the chassis. You can also make fine adjusments on your car such as tires, gearing, tire alignment, anti roll bar, springs, damping, areo, brakes and differental. One of the coolest features of the game is the "Drivatar" You can basically build a team of racers who work for you. You take them out to 5 courses and race 3 laps. the game will rate you on how well you handle different turns. The skill is fused into the drivatar. You now have your drivatar teammate. The drivatar can drive on any course in any car.
Summary: This game is virtually unplayable! The handling of the vehicles is so unreal it borders on ridiculous! Forza Motorsport is laughable. For example, after leaving off the gas the vehicles continue spin out of control as if you are driving on ice. There is no realistic traction bias whatsoever. I've said it before and I'll continue to say it.... When will these fools realise that sliding around on a racetrack uncontrollably and bouncing off walls while you get passed by cars that are not governed by the same physics IS NOT FUN????? This is for real, the cars behave as if they're on ice. Yea, yea, you can tweak the assists and line indicator to make the game somewhat playable but what is the sense in driving around a track following a green line?
This game makes no sense. If you stay in the area of the track where the line indicator is, the cars behave a bit better, but if you venture away from that line the handling characteristics go haywire and the brakes and steering have little to no effect especially if you're attempting to outbreak the competition into the turns. This game is setup all wrong.
RENT THIS B4 YOU BUY IT!!!
Gamespot gave this mess a 9+, man what's their deal?
Project Gotham 2 is still the driving sim champ!
