Summary:
WOW! What a game! I usually stay away from these typs of games because of games like Burnout and Need for Speed but after playing Midnight Club 3 I've come to realize that a well done game can indeed revive a genre chock full of pathetic clones. I haven't belly laughed so hard since watching the 3 stooges as when I raced using the chopper against the fastest cars in MC3. MC3 is by far the best driver available, when considering the excellent cars available and the 2 different setup menu's available in and before the race to customize them. Heck, it's nearly as fun to customize as drive. The chopper was my vehicle of choice to race with to unlock other cars. The physics and detail of the rider is so easy and hillarious that it is really addictive to race. The race courses are excellently laid out and the nav point arrows and flares are a huge help especially at break-neck speeds. The entire game is setup near perfect and payoff's for winning races goes from unlocking cars (which you must pay for) to cash.
I really loved this game and it's the first rental game I played all the way through. Alot of love went into car model design and the cars look as good in the game as they do in detail setup. There is the all important vehicle damage as well!
MC3 unseats my long favorite Project Gotham 2 as best driver ever. MC3 may be more arcade than sim and PG2 may have better driving physics, but as far as enthuastic gameplay, it's MC3 all the way to be sure! It's time for PG3 anyway...
The only problems I encountered with MC3 was a bit of slow down in frame rate when
allot of action is happening on screen and
that you can drive through the people walking around in the maps but nothing that couldn't be addressed via live download. The 3 cities, Detroit, Atlanta and San Diego are very well laid out with plenty of arial launching ramps available.
I reviewed Burnout 3 as a piece of garbage when it was first released and don't know why that sorry excuse for a game got so much praise. The Need for Speed titles fare little better than Burnout 3. MC3 on the other hand is top notch entertainment and I highly recommend Midnight Club 3 DUB edition to anyone who loves racing games.
Everyone on Xbox live I've played raves about MC3.
