Summary:
Well, I can't remember the last time I reviewed a game anywhere, so this tells you how much I believe in this game, that I took the time to review it here. I am doing this especially after learning that EA has bought exclusive rights to the NFL and NFL Players Union to use in their Madden franchise. I love ESPN NFL 2K5 and have barely bought and played Madden 2005 months after the NFL season began only because all my friends play only Madden and are too pig-headed to try ESPN 2K5. I had to hone up my skills at Madden cuz I was getting my butt kicked and thats the only reason I bought it.

A very, very cool feature that puts Madden to shame is ESPN's Chirs "Boomer" Berman's digital alter ego doing game recaps during half-time and post game spots, incorporating actual video footage highlights of your game --- well, only with the Xbox --- how cool is that!?

Summary:
Hands down the BEST football game to date. Is ESPN NFL 2K5 perfect? No but pretty darn close. This game has BIGGER and Better everything. The new V.I.P. feature where it keeps track of all your gameplay tendencies which can be used online or offline. Custom soundtracks. A 3 times BIGGER Crib than in 2K4 with tons of unlockables and trophies. The Xbox version now have online leagues with their own ESPN type website to keep track of everything. You have More Chris Berman doing sportscenter shows along with Trey Wingo (injuries and trades), Mel Kiper Jr. (Draft preview and reviews). You have Suzy Kolber doing post game player interviews. You have an improved Gamecast where every play of th game is saved to the hard drive and you can watch and even save the replays you want even after the game has been played. New draft picks have pictures instead of the usual silhouettes you get from other games. You have the NEW weekly prep feature where you can plan the film work, workouts and practices for your team that can either hurt or help your players during that week. You can also rehab injured players too. You can edit Names, Numbers, Equipment and attributes for all 76 historic teams in the game. You have actual game halftime, post game replays and commentary on them from Chris Berman. This game is worth more than 100 bucks with all the new and improved stuff this game has but is only $20. After getting such a great game for only $20 has made it harder for me to put down $50 on other new games.

Sega has finally rebounded with a football gamer's dream. A great playing game with all the bells and whistles one would expect with an ESPN license. Even if you are a diehard Madden fan, for $20 this game is worth a try.

Summary:
Features

FPF - same crap, another year. The viewpoint while passing is not realistic or fluid at all making it useless.

VIP/celeb - celebs cheese and play like they never could and real life with superteams...whoever thought of this should be...never mind. The actually stat keeping is good, but don't expect VF4: Evolution here...it still feels like a computer opponent. PLus online VIP's are known to corrupt the game.

Franchise - If you play games for this, go with Madden. The trading, drafts, schedules, training...it all pales to Madden in every way.

Crib - Cool but the stupid catalogs are too hard to get.

playbooks - almost nothing added. Makes things stale and makes the Vick abusers raise hell yet another year with NO spy plays!

Glitches -

- DE glitch - qb can be sacked every time
- Clipping glitch - you get -15 yards plus - the amount of yards you gained if you get called for this on a successful play.
- Freezing - my game doesn't work anymore, and is why I'm giving it a 2. It started online, then happened in all areas. Tech support...there is NO tech support.
- Sound glitch - All sound will stop, and the ball can't be snapped.
- Bad spots - the game has actually blown the whistle while the player is still running. Normal spots are way to strict. Challenges take up the play clock and are not accurate as they are in real life.
- subsituting is not right...it doesn't work properly...i make a move then when I use that package the crap WR is still running the route I want to throw to.
- Can't switch positions on defense
there's more, but that is the one's that I remember the most.

Summary:
Overall this game is the epitome of what video football gaming is all about. First of all it is way better than Madden. Madden has very simplistic gameplay that allows for easy scoring and the ability to run up the score without much hesitation from the defense. ESPN forces you to think about your play calling and your teams strngths and weaknesses. This is very impressive along with features like VIP where it is a challenge to play against yourself because you are confronted with your playcalling and how vulnerable you are to certain plays....I would hope you can't run the score up on yourself! But this game is the closest thing to real pigskin action as you can get especially with the ability to look at sportscenter and the postgame player interviews... There is just so much that you get for 20dollars that makes this a superb game. And I do not appreciate magazines and sites giving madden more props than it deserves because CLEARLY ESPN has arrived and is the future of sports gaming.
