Summary

Aloha! My name is Hamieki. By the way, This game sucks!

Man, I have never seen such a game that is worst then even E.T. for the Atari 2600. Are we in a streak that gets us to another video game crash like it did back in 1983, or something, but this game just puts me in to such a disaster that tries to tear my relation apart from Nintendo. But I realised that it was THQ that goes in to a horrible slump when creating games. THQ was sort of good when making Quest 64 for the N64...

But when it comes to Aidyn Chronicals, it makes me think that THQ does not need to make a game good to make some money.

Well, THQ, That does not work that way. Square with Final Fantasy, Midway with Mortal Kombat, and Capcom with Breath of Fire knows this. And by the way, You don't need to put smog in the graphics.

And here's this: If you are planning to make Aidyn Chronicals: The First Mage 2, GET RID OF THAT BLURRY SMOG FROM THE GRAPHICS! I JUST hate that smog. And, Put the next game on the Gamecube, will ya?

Either way, This game stinks. I will never accept any game with smoggy graphics, bad sound effects AND THE MUSIC (Boy these notes of the music is repetative and nasty), and sucky controls. Please avoid this intolerable bad excuse of this pathetic cruddy poopy stink and go with Zelda, Paper Mario, or Quest 64 instead, if you don't own these games. If you have these games, then just go another round at this. There are better games for your PS2 or even your PSX/PSone. You don't need a 60 dollar piece of crud, so don't buy it.

Mahalo!

Sound

Ponn, Ponn, Pom, Pom, Papapapa. Repeat... Ponn, Ponn, Pom, Pom, Papapapa. Very repetative and nasty, music. I just can't stand it. I'd rather listen to elevater music for 2398457324598 hours then to even listen another hour of this...

And the sounds. tp...tp...tp...tp...that is the footsteps that Alaron makes when you move it. Bad bad bad.

Please don't get this. A waste of money and time, and boy I feel embarest when I bought this bad crud. Blech, and enough with this. Mahalo.

Gameplay

Blech! It's just amazing how bad the controls it can be. When I get Alaron to walk, he skips alot, like he has screwed up frames of animation or that the game just runs choppy and slow, even with the expansion pack in. But whatever is slowing this game down, I don't know, but I know for one thing, THQ has to rework their strategy on creating a good controls, so that at least Alaron would move smothly, and at least RUN when I press the control stick all the way.

And the battle sequence. Bleeccchhhh! I just can't stand how bad of a battle system they use. First of all, the enemies are sometimes stupid, like they just run in to others when in the back, and sometimes I have to wait for a long time for my turn to come up, because this freak'n thing is slow and repetative. In fact, after a few battle sequences, you will wind your self throwing the N64 switch off, taking out the cartridge, and then hurling this thing across this room, not because this game is hard, but because you are expecting something better out of your 60 bucks you used when you are purchasing this game. Perhaps that they need to be a little more careful when planning on such expensive technology. But THQ does not care. 60 bucks...loss. BECAUSE THQ WANTS TO ROB PEOPLE'S MONEY ON TO BUYING A STINKING GAME!

Sound

The sound was the worst thing about the game. There were only a few differnt sounds that each character made. The designers of the game definitely did not take there time on the sound effects. All the sounds are the same. If a male dies every one makes the same cry, even Alaron. I thought his voice effects did not go well with him. The weapons always make the same sound effects. The music is also very boring and basic. The sounds often in the end get on peoples nerves hearing the same ones over and over again.

Gameplay

This game will definitely keep you busy. The storyline is very long. It takes quite a while to get around and get everything done because the game map is do big. The game is a RPG/adventure game. If you run into someone while you are walking around you automatically go into RPG mode. This is another reason why the game is so long. The storyline is also very nice. You also meet differnt people, races and villans along the way.

Summary

why did THQ make a game like this. THQ made a winning streak of the best games in the past year and now that winning streak has ended. man does THQ suck at making roleplaying games.when i first heard of this game i thought it would be simaller to paper mario but i was wrong.first of all i rented it to see if it was good. when i started to play it i thought it would be fun. mainly the plot is to go around in battles with your team members whitch you can only choose four of them to be in your party whitch is a very lame team name.and most of the characters you get to choose suck like crap, the only good one is sir abrecian whitch is not very strong when you reach the middle of the game.and boy do those battles suck its very hard to defeat one little bat with your sword and im not joking. the magic and weapons all suck too the only good magic power is the one where you defeat the enemie one hit and the only good weapon is the broadsword.so i suggest you dont buy this game actully i dont suggest you rent this game actully i dont suggest you look at this game it will damage your eyes. and if you still arent satisfied with my review (whitch you should be)read the rest.

Sound

the sound and music of this game is the WORST.when one of your party members die they scream in horror and it gets really annoying fast because you die in like 2 or 3 hits and when your guy dies he goes ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh and sinks into the ground whitch is preety stupid.the music gets boring fast because the same music gets played over and over again, the music at the towns is fairly good but not good enough.and when your in the battle modes it makes music like this:

nananananananana
boom
nananananananana
boom
and all over again until the battle ends.so the sound sucks too please dont buy or rent or even look at this game. so this is my final line, adian chornicles:the first mage SUCKS LIKE SHI*.

Gameplay

the gameplay for this game is crap.before i tell you why i forgot to mention that the characters name that you control is alaron.now on to the gameplay.the gameplay sucks because alaron is so damn hard to control for example:when you try to move forward you move backwards.and alaron moves as slow as a turtle with no legs.so i have to say the gameplay SUCKS.

Sound

Sound to say the least is dissapointing. There isn't enough music when 'trekking' which can make it very boring and tiresome at times. All you hear mostly are your footsteps and the howls of wolves, but it does add significantly to the atmosphere. When the music is existent though, it is surprisingly decent with nice orchestral tunes, very pleasing to the ear. However, H20 could've done so much better with the sound effects.

Gameplay

Gameplay in Aidyn can be very slow when fighting a large group of enemies and this can make the gameplay very repetitive and frustrating. There is alot of strategy and if patient, there is a lot of depth that can be found. The slow gameplay is reminiscent of the Final Fantasy games, but unfortunately Aidyn is slower. However, there is a good variety of enemies to be found within the large world of Aidyn. The enemies do make fighting interesting and challenging and once a battle is won, you are rewarded with battle experience and usually gold and items. The experience system is clever to say the least, with many different skills and attributes to upgrade increasing the depth of gameplay. Trekking around the world of Aidyn is extremely slow as it may take you simply half an hour of walking to get from point A to B. The large landscapes do make trekking interesting as there are many hidden treasure chests to be found by exploring.

Sound

The Sound was good. I thought that the sound in the castle was a little crazy though. It probably could have been more of a Braveheart sound. Some sound did not match the overall scheme of the game setting, but overall it was good.

Gameplay

The gameplay in this RPG is great. At first I did'nt really like the turn based fighting, but after awhile It got quite good. In fact, the more I built up my characters dexterity, the more I found that i could get more hits than the enemy. The best thing about this game is that you can start as weak as a kitten and wind up as strong as a lion. It takes brains to play this game. If ya don't got brains, (like some of the reviews i've read) stay away.
As the gameplay progresses so does your character. If your smart, you'll know how to invest your characters XP's. Invest wisely and you can make your character nearly invincible. I think that where most people get frustrated in this game is when they can't build their character fast enough. As I always say though, Good things come to those who wait. If I could build my character really fast, where would the fun be? I paid $50 bucks for this game and i want to get my moneys worth.
The best thing about this game though, is the story line. If you can stick with it, it continues build. As you discover who Alaron really is, you can get lost in the Story. Finally, a suggestion to any of you who are considering this game. If you are a true RPG player, You'll love it. If you want fast a furious play at the begenning then you'll be dissappointed, but if you wait and are patient, you may just find yourself addicte to this game. Good Job to the makers of this game, I hope there's a Aidyn Chronicles 2.
