Power Stone for Dreamcast Videos >>
Summary My summary is:-more fun than other common fighting game -no "HARD-TO-REMEMBER-MOVES" such as in the Tekken -relaxing -it had combined many facts of fighting game in it Sound Good. Not bad for a game like thisGameplay Not easy for a newbie. When i start playing it the first time, i was crashed easily by the computer. But you'll gain more exp after playing some times & know how to to run off, kick @$$, blast the opponents & give them a throw. It was really enjoyable exspecially playing with your gangs. Also, you need some tactics to win in this game & not just rush like a buffalo.Would you like to Comment? Unlike other psuedo 3D fighters like Dead Or Alive, Virtua Fighter, etc. you actually move in all directions, not just back and forth with an occasional camera angle change or a side step.Sound Sound effects are appropriate to the characters. Music is appropriate for Dreamcast level hardware.Gameplay The coolest thing about this game that really differentiates it from a classic fighter is the ability of the characters to interact with the environment. You can pick up objects and use them as melee weapons, thrown weapons, projectile weapons, shields, flamethrowers, ect. You can climb up poles and climb across the ceiling, jump on top of buildings, perform acrobatic type maneuvers, etc. If you are a stronger character you can actually break off poles and use them like giant bats. There are also 3 power stones in each level which grant you incredible abilities. If you gain possession of all 3, you become a super character with special powers depending on your character. Energy blasts, tracer energy arrows, and ninja star barrages are some of the abilites you might expect to use. Would you like to Comment? You get to do a lot of things in this game! Like runing away from a boulder, swiming in water, floating in the air, climbing, and watching out for a big monster. Each level is very fun. This game is fun no matter how many players play. It is still fun. I mean what more can you ask from one of the best games. THANKS CAPCOM YOU ARE THE BEST!!Sound The sound is great. With so much going on it needs great sound GREAT WORK!Gameplay Gameplay is great. Four player action makes me want to play this game for hours. The only thing wrong is that it can get confusing what these things going on at one time. However, that is not a problem because with so much action it is O.k that you get confused. You will get use to it after a few hours of play. The computer is fun too. I can be playing by myself and still have a good time.Would you like to Comment? As opposed to reversing and parrying found in other games, winning in Powerstone 2 depends on your ability to use the environment. It's a new concept but it works great. With simultaneous play for 4 players, Powerstone 2 is definitely worth a purchase (provided you're not solely in search of a deep single player mode).Sound Powerstone's sound matches, for the most part, its graphics. Character taunts are nice and so is the music. Unfortunately, the announcer can be a bit annoying. Everytime you get hit he says "OH NOOOOO." Yeah, thanks for the commentary. Again, the sound doesn't warrant a purchase but it can help add to the game.Gameplay In Powerstone 2, you and up to 3 opponents run around a large, multitiered environment to see who is the best of the best. Along the way you'll pick up several different weapons, utilize your environment, occassionally throw a few punches, and pick up power stones(when you get 3 you transform temporarily). The reason why Powerstone 2's fighting engine is so entertaining is because they've provided so many different items available for use (not sure how many but well over 100!) And, as stated earlier, you can also directly interact with the stages. This involves using turrets, launching catapults, and jumping from submarine to submarine. The only fault in Powerstone 2's gameplay department is that sometimes its too wacky. With four people playing at a time, it can become a bit difficult to find your player in all the chaos. It's a problem worth mentioning, but it really doesn't detract from the fun.Would you like to Comment? Join VideoGameReview for a free account, or Login if you are already a member. Out of every fighting game I have ever played, this one takes the cake. Although Power Stone was never overly popular, it has everything I look for in a game. The controls are easy to pick up and there aren't huge long button combos you have to memorize to do each move... this allows for a much smoother gameplay and a lot more skill involved than other fighting games. It takes out the combo memorization factor and replaces it with pure hand-eye coordination and skill. My friends and I have had powerstone since its release years ago, and have played it regularly ever since. I must say that this is the most addicting game I have ever owned! This game is a MUST HAVE for any video game lover, and if you do not already own it, do yourself a favor and go to the store and get it while you can!!!Sound The sound in power-stone is very unique and exciting. The sounds you hear when you smash a box over someone's head or throw a massive fireball are extraordinary and add a great deal to the enjoyment of the game!Gameplay The gameplay in Power Stone is hands down the best I have seen in any game (except maybe Unreal Tournament on the PC). There are soooo many things you can do in any situation to counter the moves of your opponent. Literally everything you do is counterable... after two years of play I am still discovering new tactics to use on my friends! The replay value of this game is absolutely unending. The gameplay is also extremely fast paced and COMPLETELY 3-D. Whereas most 3D fighters like Tekken and Soul Calibur are not really 3D in gameplay, Power Stone is completely unbound by these restrictions. You can use everything in your surroundings to your advantage as you increase in skill. You can jump off walls, climb on the ceiling, spin around poles, throw objects, do backflips off walls, and MUCH MUCH more. There are so many different ways to use the different levels that I have not come close to discovering them all. In my opinion, this game is THE best fighting game currently in existence!!Would you like to Comment? Join VideoGameReview for a free account, or Login if you are already a member. There are also some cool codes you can get. The levels are great. This game is better than the other one.Sound This game has a lot of music. The characters make noises when they start the level. When they attack someone. When they change into their special form. When they get hit. When they win or lose.Gameplay I played this game when I first got it. I didn't really didn't like it much, but when I played it with my friends I got used to it fast. Then when I started playing it in one player mode I got all of the characters, bonus items, items, andoptions.Would you like to Comment? I haven't played much but I played it at my friend's house and it was fun, my favorite character in that game is Gaualdia or whatever (the big indian guy)Sound I REALLY like the sound, because you do a special and you do something powerful, and you kill them, so I really like the sound when you kill someone, and the music is cool.Gameplay When you play, you beat up other characters, it's fun because you use weapons to beat each other up, like a tenis racket, or a hammer that says 1000 on it. It's like Super Smash Bros., but Power Stone 2 has more things in it.Would you like to Comment? Join VideoGameReview for a free account, or Login if you are already a member. Summary This game is one of the most funnist fighting games I have ever played. Although I just got it 11/4/01 and I typed in this review on the 11/5/01 I don't think I will tire from this game for a while.Sound The music is ok and so is the sound.Gameplay I like that you can through stuff at your opponemt and that you can change is to a more powerful person. The thing I don't like is when your opponemt gets all the stones and changes and you end up getting your ass kicked. Other than that this game is F'N fun.Would you like to Comment? Summary Power Stone2 is THE BEST GAME I HAVE EVER PLAYED. Caution: Play this game once and you will be hooked. Don't bother renting this game because a week is not enough. Get out there and buy this game.Sound The sound fits each board very, very well. But this is the type of game that you won't be listing to the music but listing to the cries of your oppents!Gameplay I will try and keep this short and sweet but there is alot more I have to say about this game. One the boards really makes this game fun and unique since you can move around freely. Don't think this game is like most fighting games that you have to stay in the corner and fight. Yes, you can breath in a game like this. The charcters are outstanding, a little weird but great and what makes them great is that they can transform into somthing more powerful when they collect three powerstone and there moves really get you hyped!Would you like to Comment? As Capcom has said, it's one of the first go anywhere, grab anything combat game. With its cartoonish look and it's simple combat system, you'll be able to jump right in and fight to the death!Sound Okay, now the sound...what's there to say but it could've done a little work. Maybe if I understood Japanese I would have given this rating a 5. As most Capcom games, the people speak in Japanese and what better way to understand what they're saying, right? Yeah right...anyways at least they could've put some english sounds into the fighters, it would've made the fighting a little more realistic. The music is good and is characteristic of each fighter. The sound effects are good too, from hearing a table cracking on the back of your friend's head to hearing the Power Stones being knocked out of a person's body, it really suits the game well.Gameplay The gameplay is one of the best that I've seen in a long time. I have to say that this is one of Dreamcast's best games. The controls are simple, with a punch, kick, grab and jump button the moves are easy to learn. The 1-player mode could use a little more so we wouldn't beat it in five minutes but you'll just have to pump up the difficulty level if you want a challenge. The two player mode is where this game is at it's best. The levels are cool to play on and each level has it's own distinct character, just like each of the fighters you can choose. You can grab chairs, fire bazookas, swing off polls or just hang on to the wall until you find an open spot for attack. Also, as the name implies, you need to collect 3 power stones. Once you get them, you'll be able to become this superhuman character into which you can use devastating moves. The gameplay is great and it'll leave you wanting more.Would you like to Comment? And yes everyone, Wang Tang is Goku's evil ass kicking twin.Sound The fighting sounds I find quite hilarious, while although they are in Japanese, they fit the characters and really utilize the gameplay. The music is still heard though mostly what you hear is the crap being beat out of your opponents. The only thing that is embarrasing even when around your friends is the announcer. With sayings like "Remember, a strong beginning may lead to a perfect ending" and "Don't forget to use those subs to your advantage!" tend to make you feel like an idiot. I mean, once is fine. But every time! Come on! That announcer must die.Gameplay The gameplay is great, plus it comes from one of the greatest fighting game makers in the industry, Capcom. The environment is your key advantage to winning, using everything from rocket launchers and leg traps to 22mm cannons and rock catapults. The environment is truly interactive and captivating. Item mixer, the abiliy to put more than 3 Power Stones on a level, and Co-op attacks, which allow you to knock the crap out of your opponent, while also knocking all of the Power Stones out of you opponent, even during transformation, make this game truly amazing.Would you like to Comment? Nirvana for all games!Do you ever remember how games in the past always seem to excel in keeping you glued to your seat? How they, even with their 'below today's standards' graphics and shoddy sound, their sheer gameplay was the main thing. Cast your minds back to the days of "Sensible Soccer", "Mario Kart" and "Space Invaders" or more akin to this title: "Double Dragon" Take the gameplaying genius involved in those games, and then forget EVERYTHING I said about rubbish graphics and sounds! Add in some extras more likened to RPG's (well what else can creating your own items/weapons be put into?!?!) and there you have Power Stone 2. Yes, this truly is a game derived from what makes classic games with the novelty stuff added in just for good measure. *8) Unfortunately, like many of those old classics, the game does tend to suffer from a shortened one player experience, but will you care when your mates and yourself are crowded around the comp in a frenzy of Power Stone 2 madness???? I THINK NOT!! Sound Haha.... Onto the element that usually gets dismissed quite a bit in games like this. However, things aren't as awry as I would have possibly imagined. The usual "eugh!" "add" "yah!" sounds for each character are their and they fit their respective characters well. They remain in Japanese, which I actually like personally. As I don't understand Japanese, the characters lose a bit of their individuality, as the voices aren't really THAT different and there's no Soul Calibur-Esque subtitles to rectify this. Oh well! One thing, yes the ONE THING that I really hate about this game is the corny commentator... Why oh why??? "don't get soft now, your challenge has only just begun!!" in one of those really cheesy gameshow host accents (American) that you just love to hate. Every time i play this game with my friends I cringe in embaressment when I hear that announcer. Yes, HE IS THAT BAD!! Gameplay Hmmmm.... What can be said about this game's gameplay? Oh right, I'm supposed to be answering this aren't I.... DOH!Eh-hem, the gameplay in this game was obviously what the game designing gurus at Capcom were concentrating on when they designed Power Stone 2. Unfortunately, I haven't played the original so I can't compare the two, but PS2 is definitely the pinnacle of game playing genius. The term 'no holds barred' would possibly be the best way to describe the fighting element. Would you like to Comment? Join VideoGameReview for a free account, or Login if you are already a member. Funny as hell all the guns all the characters have there own unique sound and the music is fun if not the best music on the dramcast for pure enjoymentGameplay ENOUGH!!! soul calibur is not the best beat em up ever, sure its brill but this is better! It is one of the most enjoyable games ever me and my sis love it to bits! But how can a beat em up have a sense of humour I hear u cry! Well dont ask me ask capcom! It has tons of usable weapons like rockets, guns, and other cool weapons. In each level you play in it has a special feature for example the sub level has weapns and things on board the sub for you to use to kill your enemies. The tomb level you run away from a giant boulder like in Indiana Jones. Overall the game is unique and it is a great game.Sound The sound is pretty good. You can still hear the sounds over all the noise of fighting. There really are no songs but the sounds are pretty good overall.Gameplay The gameplay is ok. After you get hit or something it is pretty hard to find your player again if it is the first time playing. The game is 3D and the controls are kinda hard to handle since the game is 3D and u don't know where u are going.Would you like to Comment? Summary When they said go any where do anything game I didn't beleive them but after playing I am a beleiver now. They said this game would get boring but only got better. It was one of the sega first releases and set the pace for the rest of segas great games.Sound the sound was okay. no game really has a great sound. what can i say. good sound effects but in some parts teh people spoke asian when this was a american game. I thought they could have put into american before they released it.Gameplay The game play is da bomb. It didn't lie when they said go any where do anything. you can go on anything, but just not out of the boundrys. You can pick up anything and use it for dustruction. theres nine players of dustruction. They all have a certain trait or too. You can eran weapons and other things by beating the game and you can go up to fifteen times. Also this game is fast pace but doesn't end just like that. The control for teh game is easy and when collecte all three power stones u unlease your power.Would you like to Comment? Summary The entire game works together nearly perfectly. There are several modes to play, and the new 4 player options are awesome. This is much better than Powerstone 1. There are a lot of well balanced characters, each with their own strengths and weaknesses. The various selection of levels is great as well. There is plenty of cheats, new levels, new characters, and new items to unlock as well, which is very helpful and fun to work towards. The item shop is very cool, where you can mix items together to form new items. 5 VMU blocks are needed to save your game, but if you want to create a mini item book (I did, and you will probably want to) it will take 128 blocks (quite a bit if you ask me... I had to delete my Shenmue file!). The game is worth the buy, especially if you have some friends to play multiplayer with. 2 on 2 is something to experience, as it is great fun. Customizing your characters is fun too... There are quite a few things that combine in Powerstone 2 to bring it above the average fighter. Plus, it brings the fighting genre to a new level by adding in several new elements, and the new dimension of free-roaming fights. Sound The voicing is well done, and the music is fitting. The sound effects are great. Sadly it is not capable of surround sound, but stereo is good enough I guess. It would be kind of hard to utilize surround sound anyway since the action is most always in front of you, unless you use the fighter as the reference point. Well done overall.Gameplay Controls are great and simple, yet there is still a great curve of experience that will allow players to get better and better at fighting. It isn't a 'button-masher' fighter like so many other games. The concept is basically to get weapons and other items, and use them to your full advantage. Meanwhile, you must collect 3 powerstones to morph into your super enhanced form, with much more powerful attacks and abilities. The concept is great, and the player always has full control in the fights.Would you like to Comment? Join VideoGameReview for a free account, or Login if you are already a member. Summary Oh my is this game fun or what? Yes, It´s It´s great so great you will play it foreever. It´s the best 4-player game I´ve ever played, better than super smash bros, much better and in full 3D.3D maps makes it more fun because the map moves. You might start on an airplane then get launshed into the sky then land on soft ground again. Great. Sound I like the chineese voices actualy and the music too, the sound of swords smashing to each other are well done too. Overall good sound.Gameplay The gameplay is the best part in this game because of the easy but precise controll. 1 jump, 1 attack, 1 action and two special moves buttons.Simple but great. You can grab precisle anyting your eyes cross by. Everyting from swords to guns and bombs. Very good replay value too. Over 121 Items to mix and collect, 9 maps and 3 secret areas. Also theres 2 hidden characters and much more. You will sit for weeks playing this game. Would you like to Comment? Join VideoGameReview for a free account, or Login if you are already a member. Summary Power Stone 2 is one of the wildest 4-player games since Super Smash Brothers on the N64. Although a fighting game, it also manages to incorporate other gameplay elements (even RPG stuff) and is a blast to play the whole time (despite a few balance and tecxhnical issues).Sound The sound is very good, except for the lazy Japanese voice retention. Don't blame the "American" voice acting on this though...the announcer is excellent, and has more character than the characters themselves. Music is non-existant except the theme between stages.Gameplay The controls are simple and feel solid. The sheer amount of weapons is great, and earning new ones in the adventure mode is even more fun. All of the stages are interactive in several ways. There are a few problems. First, the game is short, and there are very few stages. Also, there is very little story to explain the levels, and the unusual boss battle in the middle of the game. Also, some of the elements in the stages (mainly turrets) are really cheap, and nothing seems to do much damage until someone gets the three power stones and goes into super mode.Would you like to Comment? For one you have a lto more items, for two you ahve many different kinds of play modes. It's a pretty good game worth buyinr.Especially now thta it has four-player action. If you lieks the first Powerstone then you'll love this one! I'd liek to make a point..."Who the hell made this game?" Because they have soem of the stupiest characters iv'e seen ever in gameplay.Sound Sound is good but everyone that ever played the first one know that you can't stand those damn yell and japanese speaking crap.....Gameplay Gameplay is good and has mroe monsters to battle and different enimies. THis is a greta game to play with a few of your friends. Items is the thing that caught my attention the most.Would you like to Comment? To me this is very good entertainment. The graphics are exquisite. Here is my rating for power stone 2 by Capcom©:(note 1 being the lowest, ten being the highest.) 99.9 Here is why:1 great graphics, i can see the items very clearly as well as the characters 2 a very high amount of items, some which are comical(e.x. the driver's license, powerstonemagazine) while others are just too cool(like the beam sword for all u star wars fans.) 3 now it would've gotten a 10 but in the last power stone game it had downloadable games for ur vmu.Sound There is an announcer who speaks clearly, loudly, and in english. All of the characters taunts are all in japanese which kinda stinks unless u can understand japanese. Other than that the sound is awsome.Gameplay Well this game is almost real. When i hit somebody they yell out in pain. Some items are too fun to whack my enemies with. The adhesive spray is 1 and the trumpet is another. Some levels are small but that makes 4 player even more fun. In one level there is a slot machine like thing that u can punch and it will start to spin and stop on its own. Items such as the skateboard and wedding cak e are regular things taken from real life. The characters are each unique. 2 can double jump.Would you like to Comment?
