Summary

Summary? Worlds are being consumed by darkness (kind of like the Nothing in Neverending Story) and 14-year-old Sora has to stop it, as the Keybearer. The game is a huge crossover pulled together with original ideas and characters. A massive crossover AU if you will.

Strength

It draws on pre-existent Square-Enix characters and Disney characters. This was part of its draw from the beginning. And they do it *well,* to boot. It might be toned down for the kiddies but the overall theme and morals are quite dark. You go to Squeenix for the compelling characters, you go to Disney for the conflict. And it works wonderfully.

Weakness

The camera. Oh, God I hate the freaking camera. It drives me up the wall. And, by now, some of the graphics are dated. Wonderland looks like consecutive boxes with flat walls. Goofy and Donald's AI isn't particularly peachy-keen, either.

Summary

This is probaly one of the best games I have ever played. Why? Because I am a experianced gamer who has played many games but this one. Well this one was just great. I love Final Fantasy and as a joke me and my pal like to make idiots out of ourselves and sing disney songs. So thats why i liked this game.

The bosses are challenging. Their are a lot of collectibles. The tunes are recognisable and the characters are really original. People go off this game because it has Disney Characters. Well let me tell you guys out their. This game is Disney Characters gone bad.

I beat this game then baught Kingdom Hearts 2 and let me tell you. It's pretty awesome seeing Mickey, Donals and Goofy running around with swords and stuff hacking their way through multiple enemies.

Buy this game i assure you that you will love it. If not then let me recommebd the game War of the Monsters. It is one of the best party games ever.

Anyway i digress. This game is abouta boy called Sora. It is set in a universe with about 16 worlds in it. The object of this game is to go to each world and seal the keyhole in it.

The badguys are all the badguys from popular disney movies. You verse people like: Malificent, Hades, Captian Cook, Oogy Boogy, Queen of Hearts, Jafar and many more.

If you like Final Fantasy then get ready for this. This game contains nearly all the most famous Final Fantasy characters out their.
These include: Wakka, Clous, Tidus, Sephiroth, Aerith, Squall, Moogles and many many more.

The games mechanics are simple enough all though i didn't like the whole begining of the game that much. It was long and pointless. But the rest of the game makes up for that.

If you want to know what parts of the game are disney like. You get to play in these worlds: Neverland, Halloween world, Wonderland, Monstro, Agrobah, 100 Acre Wood, Atlantica,The Colisueam and Tarzans Jungle.

Thank you for reading my review. Please be sure to read my other ones as well.

Summary

This is a very original idea. Combining Disney characters with Final Fantasy characters. The end reult is a very good RPG. The characters are memorable, the music is great, and it has a very good storyline. If you love Final Fantasy, and love Disney, then this is the game for you.

Sound

Great. These game features voices who actually played in Disney movies. This also has my favorite Boss theme in an RPG.

Gameplay

You play as the main character; Sora. The problem is, you can only play as him. You get two Disney teamates; Donald, the magician, and Goofy, a guardian. As you visit other worlds, you can swap one of these two teamates for the Disney character of that world. Battles are fun to do and are in real time. Unlike most RPG's, you can see battles coming. You can either fight or avoid them.

Summary

I played about 2 hours of this game, and was hooked. It has just about everything an RPG fanatic could want. An interesting storyline, a great cast of characters, and dazzling graphics. It proves that new wave role-playing games don't have to suck. For anyone who owns a PS 2, and has been longing for a quality RPG, then Kingdom Hearts is for you.

Sound

The sound was also very nice. The soundtrack had a number of original melodies along with quite a few familiar ones. Most of the music was good, but a few tracks had a tendency to be repetitious. The voice overs were probably one of the best features of the game because all of the actors and actresses were very convincing in their roles. The Disney characters sounded astonishingly like the original ones from the movies and cartoons. They even included cameo performances from some of the people who did the voices from the more recent Disney movies.

Gameplay

The gameplay for the most part was well done. The story, while a bit dark, was very interesting and developed well throughout the game. Most aspects of the combat engine were great due to the real-time battle mode. I did however find the camera angles in battle a bit annoying, because sometimes the camera was to close to your characters when you fight, making it difficult if not impossible to see the enemies. You can adjust the camera angles in battle, but this sometimes makes a bad situation even worse when an enemy is closing in on you. This basically my only complaint. The characters were also great. I loved how they teamed Final Fantasy characters with Disney characters. Because of this,it has something that that both young and old will enjoy.

Summary

Anyone over the age of 12 should be ashamed to enjoy this game. With that said, this is one of the most well made games on the ps2 platform. The concept of the game seems childish at first, Disney charactors like Donald duck and Winnie the Pooh in the same game as Leon and Yuffie, but once you start it, you really can't stop. The things that square games such as FFX lacked, were good strong charactors, and for love of pete, better voiceovers. Kingdom hearts makes up for this by using real, professional voiceovers, and charactors (most of whom we are already familiar with) who are accually interesting, and plot driven. That was all thanks to Disney. Square knows how to make gameplay, Disney can make real conflict. Here are a few things i didn't like too much, if you don't have a problem with them, go and buy the game right now, it's worth the money. 1.Goofy and Donald Though their charactors were surprisingly pretty good, they were almost pointless as to the gameplay. They weren't customizable enough. They died easily. You should have been able to control them. 2.Gummi ships I don't know how to explain why i didn't like them, i thought they were extremely unnessicary, and pointless to customize. The flight combat was lame-o. 3.Corny moments Though Disney added some magic and life to the charactors, as is expected they also Disney-fied them. You'll see. Once again, other than these things, the game is very fun, and takes a decent ammount of time to finish. Enjoy.

Sound

Phenomenal. Authentic voiceovers and very nice music.

Gameplay

Easy to learn, and challenging to master later in the game. It becomes more in depth the further in the game you go

Summary

A great game that everyone should play. A kind of predictable storyline because it takes place mostly in disney worlds. So if youve seen the movies then youll have a good guess what happens. I was always really surprised at how well they told the story. Now that its at a $20 price. Everyone should pick this up.

Sound

Great voiceovers. Only a few times where the dialouge is not spoken. The only thing i have to complain about is that they picked Lance Bass to be sephiroths voice. the fu**ing most evil villain ever.... played by lance bass. WTF

Gameplay

The battle system is great. It is in complete real time, using magic, items, and attacking, all in realtime. I also like that you can completely control your characters actions. I only wish you could customize how Goofy and Donald act during battle more.

Summary

Kingdom Hearts was an original idea to say the least. Combining Disney characters with Squaresoft and trying to make it a good game could be difficult. I think the story plot and list of characters could be better in this game. I found myself always wanting to see Riku and Kairi and all the Squaresoft characters, but the Disney characters got old after a while. (not that I"m dissing Disney, I like them, it's just they could have put more Squaresoft in) It seems that Squaresoft let Disney have all the cute stuff in the middle, and it would take over at the beggining and the end to make the story work. The story is good...when it's there. At the beggining they lay it out, and you don't get to see the rest of it (besides itsy tid bits) to the end. The characters could have been better. Goofy is just fine, besides his annoying voice which anyone could expect, he's an okay guy to see talk and react. Donald on the other hand, gets on my nerves all the time, he's just too...too...urgh, I dont' know what he is but he's annoying!

Summary

Ok...to make this plane and simple this game is the best game i have played since Chrono Trigger, and obviously to any true rpg game that should mean alot... The game play is great the only thing i would change about it would be more squaresoft characters like magus from chrono trigger or terra from final fantasy three...and one more thing.more cenematics.not like the little cut scenes where alladin yells JASMINE! but like the opening movie kind of cinimatics where evrthing is very detailed and thought out...and for the last thing i would change...MORE PEOPLE TO CHOOSE FROM THAN GOOFY AND DONALD!!!Like when you get Tarzan you get to keep him instead of him staying in the jungle...Thats it...but other than those minor things this game is a must have!!!In no other game can you see donald duck blast the hell out of bad guys with fire...YEA!!!well...thanx for reading ...L8R... ~Anarki~

Summary

This game is GOD!!!

I had to say that cause really it is! It's not every day you see a Squaresoft/Disney game! And it's not every day when you see Donald summon magic to incenerate villains or Goofy Charge at an enemy striking him, or that they're led by a boy who fights with a key! Yes this game is totally the best game I've played(except GTA Vice city)

The game's story is about a boy named Sora who lives on an island with his friends Riku(sounds familiar?)his best friend but nagging rival, and his girlfriend, Kira. They have lived on an island called Destiny Islands and long to visit many worlds, and begin a plan to leave. However their plan is cut short by the invasion of demons called the Heartless. Sora escapes as his Island Vanishes under the darkness also aqquiring a mythical weapon called the KeyBlade.MeanWhile King Mikey has a vision of despair, caused by the Heartless and leaves. His Sorcerer Donald and Knight Goofy set out to find the"key" so they find their king again. Soon Sora meets Goofy and Donald and set off on a magical adventure.Along the way they'll encounter allies and enemies, and unraavel the mystery of the Heartless.

I first found interest in this game cause I always loved Squaresoft for making Cloud(a character in theFF series)and I still like Disney Movies(for all those people who say their too old I'd say thats a lie because Disney Movies are entertaining) I hope after reading this you'll buy it.

Sound

Sound is one of the best things in the game. Each level has it's own music from the movies. Also in the game they tried to bring every person who played a character in disney, to voice over again. In other words 80% of the disney characters were voiced by the original people. The other 20% were done by skilled people to sound like the originals, cause most of them have either passed away or refused to do it. The music in the cutscenes really affect the mood of the player, because it may sound sad or dramatic. The opening scenes song was tight!

After reading this I hope you have an insight and that your if you buy it, you feel safe that your 50$ is well spent. ( I want the game cause I only rented it like 50 billion times, but I might get it for my birthday)

Gameplay

The Gameplay in KH rules! It mixes RPG with fast Combat, meaning you gain EX points but you fight in real time, meaning you don't go through all those menu's like in Pokemon'.Some people say it's a basic hack and slash game, but which game isn't? Also as you progress you gain abilities(just like in an RPG game)which can give you mythical powers. These range from basic combo's to the ability to fly! Also in the game your allies help fight with you. Luckily the computer helps you, but you can still edit their moves and weapons. For Example, Donald has a staff to fire spells, but you can change that to a silver hammer which devastates opponents! You too can update your Keyblade and so can Goofy. Throughout the game you can switch allies, meaning on Tarzan's level you can make Tarzan join you, but must leave Goofy or Donald. You cannot be anyone else besides Sora, and Donald and Goofy cannot be lost forever.

The AI is very strong, because the Heartless can attack you in many different ways.As you progress more and more Heaertless will come and become stronger just like you. The Control's may be a little tricky but I mastered it in 3 minutes. Also each level is unique and each boss requires stratagy. Also, FF characters will appear to aid you too(like Cloud my fav.)

Sound

The sound was great in this game too. The theme song "simple and clean" remix is the coolest song I've ever heard on a game before. Then the end theme is cool too, but the ending to the game to me leaves me begging for a K.H.2 And that's another thing I like about it. The sound effects for the fight scenes and the music you hear in the various worlds when the heartless arrive are great too. I also like that the music you hear when you fight the heartless is always fitting for whatever world you are in.

Gameplay

The gameplay in this game was cool to. It was a little confusing to me at first. most games a played it's x to jump and o to attack and other stuff. And It took me a while to get used to the directional pads to move. But after afew hours a got used to it. But the fight scenes in this game were AWESOME!!! When I was fighting Maleificent she was so hard to beat because I kept having to deal with the Heartless and all. But that to me was the coolest fight scene, that and when I had to fight Ansem.

Sound

The sound is one of the best things about Kingdom Hearts. Many Disney songs are remixed in piano for their various worlds. New tracks were made for worlds not based on Disney movies. The intro and ending songs, sung by Utada Hikari, is one of the best songs ever made for a game. Kingdom Hearts has the best sound I've ever heard from a RPG.

Gameplay

The gameplay of Kingdom Hearts is hard, fun, and fast. All battles are real-time and happen in little time which is unlike how Actions/RPG's usually are. You can be attacked many times at once by many different targets. You use a menu at the lower left corner. You can attack, use magic, use items, or do special abilities. Since there is a large list of spells to use from, you can customize the spells you use most into the shortcut menu which is used by the L1 button. Although it isn't as hard as many games, it is by no means easy. The enemy/enemies can do several attacks at once. Which can cut your health down quickly, so its' useful to have the cure spell in the shortcut menu. You can program how your partners, Donald and Goofy fight. So that they don't do anything you don't like. The gameplay is, overall, very enjoying and doesn't take to long to complete each battle. Although the camera makes it much more annoying.

Sound

Ahhhh, sound as always been one of Square's fortes. Make no mistake, Kingdom Hearts includes one of the best game soundtracks I have heard in a long time. While it may not be up to par with Nobuo Uematsu's work, the music is still extemely well done. The theme song for Kingdom Hearts, "Simple and Clean", is also the best theme song I have heard since Final Fantasy VIII's "Eye's on Me".

Gameplay

Gameplay, for the most part, is pretty good. While this game may appear to the common peon to be a hack and slash game, it incorporates far more than that. A magic system has been added into the game to add more fun to the gameplay. While at first it may be difficult to select your spells in the heat of battle, Square give the player kind of a hotkey for magic so the player can access pre-set spells very quickly. And just like the many Square games preceeding it, Kingdom Hearts includes a summon system. During battle you can summon Disney characters such as Tinker Bell and Simba to fight along side you.

The only real problem that I had with the Gameplay was the annoying camera. It swings so viciously during battles that you feel like your on a merry-go-round. However, this problem can be easily solved by not locking onto enemies. A small hindrance, but easily overlooked.

Sound

It's cool that Square and Disney made the voiceovers fit the American diolog. Oh, duh! I meant the mouthing. The voiceovers are still great. Sound FX, background music, they've done it all with grace. My only complaint would be if Ansem (The final boss) didn't say the word 'darkness' a thousand times in every cutscene. That's all folks!

Gameplay

Next to Ratchet & Clank, this is the most fun I've ever had on the PS2. You play as Sora, a 14 year old boy with huge feet, that want's to get of his island that he lives on. Not that its bad, he just want's to explore the universe. When he was in bed that night a big black hole looking thing showed up in the sky and- oh forget it, just get the game. You start out with objectives and battles to get the game started. The controls are kinda wierd though. You jump with O and attack/magic/examine/and use items with X. Too many things for one button? Use the right analog stick to switch trough them. Funky if you ask me. Nevertheless, you'll have a blast with this game!
