Summary Being a motorhead I really liked the technical aspects of the game. Very realistic tuning, much like Desktop Dyno and Drag sims. However, this was about all it was, and not much different. The game play is terrible and not realistic at all. All it is good for is simulating a motor and other aspects to see what kind of time you would possibly get in the 1/4 mile. Burnouts are worthless.Sound Poor, you can only choose a few different engine sounds and they do not have a realistic variablity when doing a burnout or accelerating.Gameplay Poor and little to it.Would you like to Comment? Summary This game is for people who like racing (duh) if you work for Ford, Dodge, GM whatever the tuning part should be easy, for kids it will hurt a lot, if your under oh...14 watching paint dry will be a lot more fun and less frustrating. Overall this game will not ruin a weekend or week... If there were a IHRA Drag Racing 3 with improvments i would buy it (cheap) hey, its a game about drag racing with 10 seconds of racing the game can only be so good. If there were maybe a fantasy 1/2 mile or even mile track that would be coolSound The cars at idle are cool, the cars in motion are cool (i think the races are short and im not listening to the sound, working on when to shift) the menu sounds are bad i think this game has 4 tracks (didn't really count) 3 techno and 1 gutair solo. When u choose your car sounds i didn't notice a diffrence.Gameplay Well lets get one things right off the manual blows, it says nothing about tuning (gear ratios, camshafts, superchargers, or the wheel options. There are A LOT of options not just the ones i stated) But if you have the internet (i think u do if you are reading this) things will be a lot eaiser tuning and racing guides are easy to find. (gamefaqs.com) the options for your car are about 3x more than that of Nascar 2003-4)Would you like to Comment? Join VideoGameReview for a free account, or Login if you are already a member. Summary This game is best suited for someone who has knowledge in the actual building of engines and cars.It is not for younger people or anyone with no knowledge of at least minor mechanics. These people will become extremely frustrated very quickly.I like a lot of detail in a game but this game has too much of it in the technical area and not enough in the presentation. Not a bad game for the money but I could have given myself a headache for much cheaper!Sound Sound was not very good. The engines at idle were'nt bad but everything else was lacking.Gameplay Read the book!Although it does'nt have all the information it should have, there are certain things that you will need to know.Unlike most PS2 games, the controls are not pressure sensitive(Accelarator, steering). This would have made for much easier and fun racing.Would you like to Comment? Summary Overall, I think this game would be perfect for someone that really wants to learn everything about drag racing. However, for the regular Joe that just wants to play a game, it is much too difficult. In my opinion, realism is taken too seriously in this game.Sound The sounds could use some work. The engine sounds are somewhat realistic (they could use some work though). The burnouts sound rediculous. I do feel that the engine sounds at idle sound pretty good though and could probably slip by without improvement.Gameplay The manual that comes with the game is almost useless. To play this game, you pretty much have to figure it out for yourself. I consider myself pretty good at these types of games, but for the first couple of hours, I was completely lost, and ready to break something. Once you figure the game out, it is pretty cool, but in one-player mode it is too difficult to even the playing field against other cars. In other words, you are either way better or way worse than everybody else.Would you like to Comment? Join VideoGameReview for a free account, or Login if you are already a member. Summary A so-so game that I "got what I paid for"... and then later returned due to a disc read error. My PS2 wouldn't read this disc and I ended up returning it and getting my money back. This game is for hard-core gamers with a lot of patience and not much money. Sound The sound, what there was of it, was good and bad. The engines sounded good. The burnouts, especially where I was simply trying to back up, were annoying and a sampled squeal, over and over and over and over and... you get the point. The sound was mediocre at best. Gameplay Tons and tons of things to mess with. I really wanted to tune the dragster and get it flying down the track, though the thought was better than reality.I kept burning rubber and not being able to stage due to the fact that the controls are a bit off. There are separate buttons for the brake and reverse... Let me tell you this: generally, when you stop, you'll probably be backing up after a burnout... The controls stunk and once I finally got a hang of it, it turned out to be a mediocre pleasure. Would you like to Comment? Since there really isn't any other Drag Racing games for PS, I will mostly compare it to the first IHRA game or Gran Turismo. Only buy this if you're really into Drag Racing.Sound Again, good for a $15 game. It is pretty cool that you have some options to choose from for what your vehicle sounds like. And if you have surround sound I think it would be even better because you could distinguish better between the 2 vehicles sounds. I don't have surround sound and haven't tried it with surround sound, so I can't gurantee that. Most games are better with surround sound though.Gameplay Great simulation Drag Racing game. There really is no object to it in 1 player mode though. 2 player is where the fun comes in. You and a friend can sit there and customize all kinds of stuff, make your own rules, and go head to head to see who know what they're doing. They need to make a drag racing game that kind of mixes Gran Turismo and Drag Racing. I think a large selection of cars that you can buy from a dealer and lots of customizable things for them would make a great Drag Racing game. Like I said, this is a great simluation for Drag Racing, but the 1/4 mile goes by so fast. I know it does in real life too, but for the sake of video games, I think the track should be maybe a 1/2 mile in length or so to make it more interesting.Would you like to Comment?
