The only poor characteristic about this game are the special moves.I still don't even know how I transformed into SSJ3 Gotenks. Some of the animation before the battle is really cool, but a few of the characters are made poorly; such as Frieza(especially).Other than that, I say this is the best Jap. DBZ game. Did you know that they have made an English version of this game. Infogrames remade it hopefully with different characters.(Release date is some time this year2003) Sound The sound is great. Although whatever Goten says when he flips in the air is pretty anoying.Gameplay The controls can be easily learned and if you ever played DB Final Bout, trust me the gameplay is 200% better.Would you like to Comment? Summary I enjoy this game alot, and if your a Dragonball Z fan you'll enjoy this game no question about it. I think it was too easy, everyone can be beaten real easy the only one truley hard was the games final enemy Kid Buu!Sound I truley liked the games music, voices, and special sound-fx. It's good, but the noise you get when your flying around really gets annoying after a while so I mostly play with the sound on low and crack up some tunes on my CD player. Don't get me wrong the sound in this game is almost perfect, couldn't be better just gets annoying for people like me who enjoys to relax to some heavy metal tunes and kick some ass DBZstyle!Gameplay Amazing, simply amazing. I enjoy playing this game because it puts you in that Dragonball Z mind set that your the strongest guy in the whole world and just beat the crap out of your opponents with some un-normal power. It's also an easy game to understand, button's are easy to pick up and easy to perform. I really enjoy this game alot, but it's got it's downside the meto attacks look great but there isn't enough of them. It really gets boring to watch the same meto attack over and over again, something that would of made this a better game would of been the meto(special) attacks done during gameplay and not after the balence bar battle is won. Still amazing, and in my mind the second best Dragonball Z game ever made.Would you like to Comment? Join VideoGameReview for a free account, or Login if you are already a member. Summary An outstanding game for its time. i would have said the game was an awesome game in 1997, but time has changed in a whole lot of ways. if you are a die hard dragon ball z fan, and know the Dragon Ball Z actors voices, and the different sounds that they only use. pluss sense i'm japanese i can refer to the game. i understand the game in Japanese, but i have a hard time understanding the English version.Sound sound is ok. the good thing i like about the game is how when you use special attacks you can here a character say the name of the attack. like goky when he says Kame.....Hame.....Haaaaaaaaa!!!! though Vegetas attacks sound really sucks. other than that the sounds is ok.Gameplay The Gameplay is cool if you play one on one. but it is different if you have characters sprung out accross the screen, which causes you to not really know whats going on on the screen. but other than that the game. Rocks!! gameplay wiseWould you like to Comment? Join VideoGameReview for a free account, or Login if you are already a member. Summary I bought this game thinking it to be the best game I had ver played. It is not but close to the top of my list. However if you are not a DBZ fan you will not like this game. I am lucky I have a MOD Chip for my PS2 that allows me to play it.Sound There is no dicussion. It is in Japanese.Gameplay The controls do not take long to get used to. It does seem to make your thumb become tired quickly. The only problem is you cannot do Goku's Kameahmea Wave, Vegeta's Final Blast, etc. during gameplay.Would you like to Comment? Summary I got this game in the mail monday of this week, boy this game really gets me going. I do admit the only thing wrong with it I can see is that some of the enemies are a major pain even on Normal. This game is so awsome for all you Dragon Ball fans out there, if you have a choice get this one first. Of course ppl that don't like Dragon Ball Z Check out the show first and if you fall in love BUY THIS GAME! You will not be dissapointed at all! This game has it all, even the japanese voices are those of the japanese actors, I thought including Nappa was really cool also. Also the Ginyu force was a nice add in as well, I mean the dance they do when they enter made me surprised. Bandai included every detail of the series all most, they left out Raditz but hey they left in most of the good parts.Sound The music and sound effects were great, japanese voices were great, the Music was awsome as well the ending song We Gotta Power is one of my fav DBZ songs and to have it in a game was awsome. It would have been nicer if it was the actual song and not intrumental though but no complaints here ^_^Definatly buy this game, if your not sure rent it if you can find it which is doubtful since it's an import unlike Dragonball GT which was also made in an american version. Gameplay The Gameplay is just pure excitment when fighting, I tell you one thing, if the enemy gets you near your end you will start freaking out and usually screw yourself over ^_^ Im sure every other one of these reviews says this but I'll say it anyway, the system used in this game is a tug o war system you battle between powers. The power balance moves in your favor completly and you do a special attack harming your enemy, usually takes 3 for regular enemies if it's somebody like Cell might take 4 depending on who you use. In story mode you get a prefect by following the show exactly.Would you like to Comment? Join VideoGameReview for a free account, or Login if you are already a member. Summary I was extremely excited when I heard that this game had come out on Playstation because I am a huge Dragonball/Z/GT fan.I was hoping for a great DBZ game and this one was no disappointment.Sound I thought the sound was very good.I like the way that Bandai matched the music to the special moves that the characters do.I think the sounds were some of the best parts of the game!!!Gameplay Two words EXTREMELY AWESOME.(Actually that would be a huge understatement!)The gameplay is exactly like the cartoon,LIGHTNING FAST!!!Anyway,I think the gameplay is very good.Would you like to Comment? Summary This is a great game. I personaly perfer this one instead of the others. The graphics and everything else is great! I've passed it 3 times. I love kicking my enemy sky high, then I power up and fly up to him, THEN I knee him ALL the way to the ground so hard that he bounces of the ground. If your a DBZ fan you have got to buy this game.Sound The sound is great. You won't find yourself humming the same tune (mostly because you'll be to busy kicking butt ^_^). Its Great!Gameplay The gameplay in this game is great and simple to learn. The Triangle is to power up, O is for kicking combos or just normal attacks, the square is for firing KI (longer you hold the more you'll fire), and the X button is to block.Would you like to Comment? Rating Reviewed By Justin I.From Jacksonville, Florida Review Date 05/19/2002 Overall Rating ![]() 5 of 5 Rate this review? Summary I myself love this game. Even if you not a DBZ fan you'll like this game. Its a 2-D fighter with a 3-D background. It even's out and looks brilliant. Even if your not a DBZ fan buy it. Go to Half.com and you can buy it for around 20$ or 30$!!!!!!!! YOU WONT REGRET BUYING THIS GAME!!!!Sound The sound. Not much to say about the sound. Its japenese but it sounds just like the japenese voices from the show. But, the sounds while playing go great with the fighting and are very good....Gameplay Gameplay is great. The controls are simple, (x) to block, (square) to fire energy, (triangle) to power back up, and (o) to do all you fighting attacks. At the bottom of the screen you have a bar, blue is you, red is your opponent or cpu. The more hits you get the more blue you get. Like tug-o-war, its hard to explain buy it and you'll see!!!!!!!!!Would you like to Comment? Join VideoGameReview for a free account, or Login if you are already a member. Rating Reviewed By Chibi GotenFrom Airville, PA Review Date 04/27/2002 Overall Rating ![]() 5 of 5 Rate this review? Summary Dude! the second I saw this game, i was deeply in love. This is by far the BEST fighting game EVER! All I have to say is GREAT work Bandai, and keep it up!Sound The sound kicked ass. The music that played when you performed your meteos matched perfectly, like the eerie tone that plays when SSJ3 Son Goku performs his Chou Kame-Hame-Ha, or Normal Son Goku's performs his Genki Dama, or the crazy music thay plays when Son Goten is getting ready to perform his KamiKaze attack, the sound really adds to the game. The Sound Effects are also good. the sounds of hard punches, and Ki Meteos match the shows exactly.Gameplay The replay value alone would make me pick this game over any other game on the market! The possibilities are near endless! For example, I know everyone has at least one "What if" question from the DBZ series, like, what would have happened if Majin Vegeta actually did want to fight Fat Buu with Son Goku's aid? Find out when you play this Game! Another sweet thing is that the moves actually have different intensities! So that a move from SSJ3 son Goku does more than a move from Krillin. the fast paced action makes players really get into the game, and soon, you get to be really good with the controls, and it becomes second nature. that is when you start to really be able to get into the game.Would you like to Comment? Summary Man first off let me say, I have posted a review for this game before, but someone at this site removed it. [Editors Note: Reviews that cast insults upon other reviewers are removed. Information can be found in guidelines http://www.videogamereview.com/reviews/reviewguide.asp] On to the game, This is the best dragon ball z game out there. I mean you can do almost any thing you can think of. You can fly, fight at VERY high speeds, and you can even get up to three people and jump the cpu if you want. The graphics are great and the sound is also well.Sound sound is great.Gameplay Man, any one who thinks that this game has bad gameplay should say that to any dbz fans' face, so they can get knocked out. I mean, it is almost perfect, there is an attack button, a energy blast button, and button to power up. You can also block, but when you are as good as me, you really won't have a need to. Unlike the other dbz games, on this one you can power up and fight while the energy surrounds you'r body. Making you'r character a lot stronger and faster. How much more could you want out of a gameplay. When you are about to be punched or kicked, you can press X along with a direction to vanish out of the way of the attack and come from another side and attack. The gameplay is perfect.Would you like to Comment? Join VideoGameReview for a free account, or Login if you are already a member. Summary Summary:This game is awsome.I never played a greater fighting game.Unlike dragonball final bout this game is worth playing.I've never palyedany other dragonballz games besides final bout and legends. But I' sure if I did Legends would still be the best. Sound Sound:The music isn't so hot but the sound of the charicters completly takes up for this. The sounds are just like show like the powering up sounds so real you close your eyes and think you were watching the show.Gameplay Gameplay:Gameplay is also awsome. You can fight with up to 3 charicters which is really cool and the controlls are simple.Well the controlls are hard when you first start playing but you get used do them.Like up is foward and down is back and the basic moves like punching and kicking and the other fighting aspects of dragonballz. To do these moves you just press x,o,triangle, and square.Would you like to Comment? Summary If I had to pick any of the dbz games for ps1 I would pick dbz legends. It tells the whole story of dbz except the Raditz saga. This is really the best of the dbz games. Now this game is worth the money.Sound The sound is pretty good. The sounds of energy blasts sound very well. The characters voices are good too.But the punches sound like machine guns. The music is very good too and I sometimes get one of the songs stuck in my head.Gameplay Gameplay is great, you can go anywhere because you have infinite room, but not in 2 player mode, you can barely travel as fire as your tv screen. The controls can be a little hard at first but once you get the hang of it you will kick butt.Would you like to Comment? It follows most of the Dragon Ball Z saga excluding Raditz,(which would have been pretty cool though!) It is a hell of a lot better then Final Bout and I haven't yet played Ultamite Battle 22 yet so I don't know what that is like. Overall buy this game! You won't be disappointed I garuntee it!Sound The sound ain't bad. I like it personally.Gameplay The gameplay is amazing. I love the fact of the counter attacks and the smashing back and forth the screen which can go on forever because of the unlimited battle space. The controls can get tricky but they are not hard to get used to at all.Would you like to Comment? Join VideoGameReview for a free account, or Login if you are already a member. Summary Very good game. Has lots of chacters, most anybody u can think of that had a good part in DBZ.The single player mode is very short but the but in sp mode which makes the game alot longer.Sound Sound is so so, No biggy.Gameplay You can do some cool moves, the more and faster u can do them the more fun it is. It's fun to have 6 people in the ring at once and thats the only good thing about having a 3d map. It's fun to wach the computers in the back ground fight it out while your pounding people yourself.Would you like to Comment?
