Product Description

Sound

You can hear all kinds of moans as you are killing the officers and other soldiers. Also so the screaming of the characters when they are attacking is pretty cool (I wanted to say something other than cool but I was running out of adjectives sorry).

Gameplay

You play in about 7 different levels trying to beat the hell out of other clans. Each one of the 40 characters are armed with a weapon that can kick butt if pressing the right buttons. The weapons can be from a sword to a bow and arrow to a sharpe feather but no matter what the weapon every person could probably link together a 6 or 7 move combo.

The soldiers that you will face will be simple even if there is like 20 of them and 1 of you. What you have to worry about are the officers. The officers are other players played as the computer that can link together kick ass moves that are sometimes completly unavoidable. If you are low on health STAY AWAY FROM OFFICERS and let your bodyguards do all of the work.

Outside of battle there are 4 different clans each with different characters. The green clan is probably the worst the best is probably the red and the blue is the 2nd best leaving the gray clan for 3rd.

One of the other features about this game is that you can ride on horses and elaphants. The horse is basically just to run around fastrer and to get to your clan faster and with the elaphant you can actually contral it to attack the opponent recklessly.

Summary

When I first popped DW:3 Xtreme Legends in my PS2 tray, i didn't know what i was in for. I had played DW:3 before, but DW:3 Xtreme Legends is a whole other story. I didn't know that this game was just an expansion of DW:3, you really need DW:3 to make the best of this game.

Well, i didn't have 3, so it was tough for me to appreciate an expansion without the actual game. When i first played the game, it sucked. But then i went to a different mode in the game, and couldn't have been happier. The game all of a sudden just got 10 times better!

Then, i started playing a 2-player game, now the game was 20 times better!

This game does not just have kicking someones butt, but it also involves strategy, skills, and, most importantly, teamwork.

You may think that some of those things are corny, but DW:3 XL, puts all of those things and much more, into a cool neat package.

This game is just so addictive, the replay value is too high to count. This game is so addictive, that you may start to think that Koei put nicatine in the disk!

But, still you'll need to have DW:3 to make this game great, so i'll have to penilize Koei for that.

Summary

With the popularity of DW 3 i was suprised to see not mouch being said about this game.I just picked it up recently and will give you my impressions of this game in case you are unsure about adding it to your collection.
First let's talk about the graphics.I have heard some say teh graphics on DW 3 Extreme aren't as good as those on DW 3 and some saying they are the same.To test both theories i kept switching between both games and I honestly feel the Extreme DOES improve on graphics. There was no major graphical overhaul and i think some may have expected more than just slight tweaks but it Extreme is still better even if only slightly.
Next lets look at the gameplay. You can expect about the same if you play in the original mode. One important thing to note is if you have DW 3 you can't sell it,in order to play the original mode with the Extreme additions of characters and such, you need the original DW 3 game.It will ask you to put in the DW 3 disc to load its info, then will automatically eject and ask you to put the Extreme disc back in once its loaded up the info from DW 3.I noticed in the original mode that Extreme has added a bunch more playable characters and some more body gaurd options.I also noticed levels that i had not played before on top of the previous levels that were in DW 3.Thats just in original mode,if you play Extreme mode you get to use the players like Lu Bu and such for another set of missions.By having both discs it seems like you basically double the size of the first game and add more options to the game.Extreme would be better classified as an expansion disc than to call it its own game and let me tell you it is not a small expansion by any means. They kept the old hack and slash game style in tact and have added enough enhancements to give the game life again for those who had finished DW 3.
The sound is about the same,The music seems to fit fine,Nothing spectacular but i mean its not annoying,it flows just fine with the game,The noise on the battlefield is fine to.The only drawback is the voice overs,They just don't sound like tough warriors when they talk, perhaps deeper voices with more emotion would have made them seem a little more like warriors but i mean this is not a big problem. The sound didn't detract from the gameplay at all in my opinion.
Now the question of whether to buy this or wait for DW 4.If you don't have DW 3 already i would say you probably shouldn't bother with DW 3 Extreme and those people may be better off waiting for DW 4 cause you'll have to shell out 50 for the original DW 3 and 30 for Extreme to enjoy all the benefits of this game. But for those who own DW 3 its only going to cost you 30 bucks for this disc which expands alot on the first and has its own missions as well.I have no regrets about this purchase at all,and i plan to buy DW 4 when it comes out as well.

Sound

I feel the sound is fine, the only thing that may take away some points are the voice overs,They look like tough warriors but when you here them talk they don't sound so tough lol.Aside from the voices, the battle sounds are fine and the music is not annoying.Based on past Koei games i think they have doen a very good job with this game

Gameplay

Basically the same as you'd expect from the first DW 3.The enhancements are mainly to the amount of usable characters in mosou mode, new levels, and graphics that seem to be more crisp.I was skeptical as to whether Extreme would offer enough to take my DW 3 back off the shelf for some more battle but I must say after bringing it home i am very happy with the additions. There is more than enough new things to keep me busy till DW 4 is released.Koei's specialty are strategy games so you have to give them tons of credit for doing such a fine job in putting out a good hack and slash adventure game.

Sound

Excellent battle sound effects and a great eastern tinged heavy metal soundtrack keep you pumped as you fight your way through the large battles. Voice acting still goofy as hell, but it has become a staple in the series and is adds some humor to the game.

Gameplay

Almost identical to the original Dynasty Warriors 3 (as it should be since this a remix and not a sequel), which consist of fast paced killing on large intricately designed battlefields. There is a new combo rating system which awards you points for linking different attacks together to come up with big combos. It's a welcome addition to the button mashing maddnes. You can also completely create and edit your bodyguards down to weapon and item equiping and upgrading as well as deciding what stats to improve as they level up. Or, in free mode, you can take another famous officer with you as a bodyguard. There are also new weapons and items available, as well as some new challenge modes and a new "very hard" difficulty level. The seven new Musou scenarios as well as the other gameplay additions will keep you busy for quite a while. My only real complaint is that enemies still pop up out of thin air right beside you when the battles are really heating up.
