Summary The strategy is one of the best because its 3d and u can get in the ships u build. But i only like it online because they have snipe where u are a pilot with a sniper rifle.Mag is great too where ur a hover tank and 1 shot kills.Sound sound fits the game perfectly, what else is there to say? BUY IT.Gameplay Its great but u always restart in the same spot.Snipe is great because there are so many ways to do it. theres scope. Jump Snipe. And Gas.And it has something to satisfy all tastes: Deathmatch, Snipe, Mag, Bomb, Strategy and a couple of failure mods. Would you like to Comment? Now I am finding several people who are still playing the multiplayer versions with many add-on maps available. I sometimes load the game just to fly the different vehicles around. The controls make you wish you had one of those tanks for the drive in to work in the mornings. :)Battlezone has great graphics. Fog effects and nice terrain compliment the package. If you can run the 1.4 patch and large assets download, the graphics are even better! (for AGP and Voodoo cards only) The explosions are incredible. Also, don't worry about compatibility issues. B-zone has a render.cfg file for changing most aspects of the display. Works very well too.The only things I really didn't like about b-zone was that there is no Deathmatch AI, so I could get practice in before getting slaughtered by the on-line experts. It is also extremely complicated to add a new map to the game. There are utilities available, but if you've ever played half-life, you know how easy this process could be.The add-on 'Red Odyssey' is near complete, and I can't wait to play some more.Whether you're are a single person perspective kind of person, or a strategist, you will love playing Battlezone.See you on-line,B-wolf Would you like to Comment? Summary Just loaded it up and started blasting. The graphics are outstanding and the level of play is just right, not to difficult but not so easy that you become disinterested. In the early stages I would like to have a little more in-depth missions to become familiar with the overall commands.Would you like to Comment? Summary Agree with all the great previous posts. Ignore the low rating Computer GamingWorld magazine has this one placed at - readers poll list of top 100. Usually ok ratings but they missed on this one. Smooth in every aspect. You get even deeper in the game than Mechs: Mercenaries or say Warcraft 2. Combos both of those play styles! Games should have been like this all along. Instead we got nasty Cyberstorm and such to mess up buyers' decisions. This one DOES IT.... It gets the juices flowing, enough said. Summary When I first saw it I thought the graphics were pretty sharp and very detailed. The audio part was also a godsend for those who wanted to be in the action of a strategy game. The nice part about Battlezone is that it not only gives you full control over your units like any other good strategy games like Warcraft and Command and Conquer but it also gives you a chance what it is like to be in the thick of the action. The storyline gives you a realistic feeling that you are participating in a really important operation. The only downside to this game is the lack of researching and upgrades unlike other games.Still,Battlezone is a unique gaming experience for me.Two thumbs up for Activision!Would you like to Comment? Summary Battle Zone - what can I say? Audibly and graphically the best PC game I have had the pleasure of playing. The action is so unpredictable that you will never be sure of completing the same mission twice. Coupled with the twists and turns each mission takes (just when you think you're through....)you will literally be left holding your breath! The game runs acceptably on my P133 with 1MB of video RAM and the sound is excellent - the rendered speech doesn't grate or annoy, its only done at its most appropriate level and improves the gameplay no end. The action is also tailored to be as realistic as possible. Don't think that knowing what's ahead will give you an advantage - sometimes following the mission plan is the only way of completing a mission, taking a shortcut will often result in failure!Definitely one for your collection, be you a strategist or an action fan.Would you like to Comment? Summary Battlezone is one of the greatest games I ever had played. It doesn't ore me a bit it's like a quake 2 and a Red Alert mix. But in a better kind of way. Missions are superbly done and doesn't lack variety. The game looks very good even without a 3d FX card very cool indeed.Would you like to Comment? Summary Activision...great work!..this is one of the best game I ever played..the graphic is superb the sound very impressive and the game depth is much greater than I expected. The 3D optimized graphic looks a little like Archimedean Dynasty...but nevertheless a great engine fast and very nice. The Soviet missions are much harder to complete than the American missions but so a higher challenge to your skills. The weapons are also great...my favorite is the Flash-Cannon firing a permanent beam of amazing destructive power but sucks ammo like other people beer. The strategy part is very nice and surpassingly easy to handle. Its only fun if you can say : So..cannon one ,two and three fallow me! and than place it in a path for enemy troops and staying aside while the cannons take the enemy convoy apart..only fun!!!And last but not least ..the story..the story is very nice..little spaced up but interesting and the mission goals can change very rapidly..so you don't get bored...its not like C&C one goal and nothing more..no!!..one goal and then the General says...problems and you have fast to do that and that...So..yet you know enough...GO AND BUY THE GAME!! you won't regret it!Sascha Would you like to Comment? Summary This game can be reviewed in one word...Fantastic! Gameplay, graphics and FX are great and runs smoothly onmy P200, 32meg, 2 meg video. I hesitated to buy it because I am about to buy a 3dfx card but I couldn't resist it. Now I am glad I bought it anyway. The software version is wonderful and I don't think a hardware-accelerated version can be much better than it already is. This is definitely the pick of the month (or year??) if you like real-time action and strategy in one great game. Buy it today! Would you like to Comment? I've lost a weekend (hopefully not my wife) with a game which defines "immerse." Forget Starcraft, spend your money on this one - and it's only $29.00 at Best Buy this week. Playing the first few missions on each side (I prefer the Soviet) leads to hours going by. Initially different, the interface soon becomes second nature, and a mouse-keyboard combination leads you to not have to look down much at all. A keyboard card is included, along with an entertaining manual, providing a very nice back story. Installation was fast and flawless, with default settings automatically provided. Best of all, I've resisted buying that 3D card, and was tickled to find the game running smoothly and beautifully (640x480) on my P166MMX, 32 ram, 2MB video card Hewlett-Packard generic machine. Thanks again, Activision, for recognizing that a large minority (or even majority) of gamers are running software only. I'd give this game a 97 rating, which is better than any of my 50+ others. Get it!Would you like to Comment? Join VideoGameReview for a free account, or Login if you are already a member.
