Summary

don't get mad, but i think this game was better than San Andreas, even though I gave San Andreas a 5 out of 5, if there was a 6 out of 5, i would give it to Vice City.

Sound

great voiceacting, probably the best i've ever heard, great gunfire, great everything when it comes to sound.

Gameplay

absolutley perfect, not a wrong thing about the gameplay. i think the best thing about Vice City is the radio station VCPR. it is so freakin' funny, but after you hear it a hundred times it loses it's touch, but it still is pretty funny.

Summary

Vice City is an excellent follow-up to the classic GTA3. It gets right many of the things that made GTA3 a great game and even improves on several things. The game offers another fairly large area to explore with the added attraction of tropical scenary. Like GTA3, there are a wide variety of missions to complete and an interesting cast of characters. In general, Vice City is an improvement of GTA3, though GTA3 had a better storyline and fresher feel. Overall score: 4 1/2 stars.

Sound

Great voice acting. A wide variety of good (and not so good) 1980s music. Sound effects like car engines, weapon fire, and so forth are convincing.

Gameplay

Vice City feels alive and has dynamic day-and-night cycles. There is always something to get into and you can do many things in whatever order you prefer. In particular, the new features include buildings that you can actually enter, a greater number of places to save the game, more clothing options, and a few more weapons (like chainsaws and helicopter guns). You can buy your own businesses which can turn a profit, and you can fly helicopters, in addition to driving cars and boats. The problems I encountered in Vice City were minor, but still annoying. The save-game system is my biggest complaint. You should be able to save the game at least once in the middle of some of the tougher missions. The story and missions were much like some of those in GTA3; however, they didn't seem as tied together as the ones in GTA3. Finally, while the new mode of transportation (flying) is on the surface a welcome addition, I found helicopters to be very difficult to fly and land, at least with a gamepad. Also, the problem of getting out of a boat without falling in the water and drowning is as bad as it was in GTA3. Overall, the controls (I used a gamepad and a mouse) work well together.

Summary

I put off buying GTA:VA because after recently getting a new Ubercomputer, I wanted to buy games that I could max out for graphics. So, despite the majority of rave reviews, I listened to those who said Vice City was a crappy port from platforms that didn't fully utilize a PC's capabilities. I was wrong. I should have got GTA:VC as soon as I set up my new PC. It's just plain fun. Escapism after a hard day's work. Yeah, there's better player details on games like UT2003, but the city that is Vice City is absolutely stunning. The weather effects, the day/night cycles, the sheer size of the city and your freedom of action make this an excellent game when you want to forget about work, tests, or family. If you lived your youth during the 80's -as I did, cough, wheeze- the tunes from the radio stations, the neon colors, the loafers with no socks, all will make you sigh and remember those times. If you're an intelligent gamer, who values gameplay over pure eyecandy (though GTA:VC is still a very pretty game), then don't hesitate as I did, pick this title up as soon as you can.

Sound

The vehicles sound great. I know Ray Liotta one an award for voicing Tommy, and in general the voice acting is held in high regard, but I'd don't know... I haven't played enough yet to judge the voices, though that aspect of gaming is important to me. I want proper, believable drama. I can't believe how many hundreds of reveiews mention that sound isn't really that important to them. The crowning glory of Vice City, though, is the actual authentic 80's tunes you can listen to while driving around, with an easy interface option to put your own favorite hits in the game. Oh yeah! Sting and the Police, while I'm running over cops!

Gameplay

Game play is excellent, the amount of streets and buildings to explore promises you won't actually play the main plot of the game, that's how wonderful this fully-fleshed city is. As one reviewer mentioned, the controls for your character, Tommy, are a bit clunky and I agree on this. The vehicle physics, however, are top notch. If you're on a bike it will actually rock back and forth on it's shocks when you brake. Brake too hard and you'll slide and make skids. I've played the game 6 hours already and I haven't yet followed the plot, I've just been crusing around the city with Flock of Seagulls blasting out my stereo. The feelings I get from this game are blends of Miami Vice, Scarface, Taxi Driver and The Godfather. There's tons of mods out there and I've downloaded a skin that has Tommy looking like a tattooed Japanese Yakuza. Yeah, there are some embuggerances that affect game play. There is an occasional pause as the game checks for your cd, and the chicks walk funny, but once you're playing the cd checks are trivial (on a good pc), and the shakey-bummed tarts actually contribute to the game's character. I've long awaited a game where I could escape, and do whatever the crap I want. Honestly, this game comes together perfectly. If you're a gamer in my age group (30's), then I highly recommend GTA 3: Vice City.

Summary

What an excellant game. I only wish there was more! This is one title that I will buy any sequel to. It was fantastic. Both GTA 3 and Vice City were an absolute thrill to play. In all fairness, I didn't like GTA 3 at first. I felt you had to be a sociopath to play the game. But, when you do the missions, drive the cars, explore the city, you leave that feeling behind, because yes, you are basically a sociopath in the game, but almost in a good way. Vice City improved a lot of what made GTA 3 great. You can buy buildings, there is a lot more exploring to do, the place is huge, it is BRIGHT most of the time, and the graphics, while not a big improvement, are improved. Plus you can fly and the weapons are pretty cool. Overall, the only complaints I have are that the RC copters were lame. I finally finished that mission, but hated it. Also, I know this is a port, but it would be nice to have more of an air of "permanence" in the game. Like, if I crash a car, I want to see it stick around for a while. The fact that things (like cars, people, cops, etc) disappear quickly, and broken windows "heal", well, that makes it more of an arcade style game. It would be cool to have a towtruck come and pick up the wreck, or have people come and fix windows, just to lend some realism to the game. I think if you had to look at a full spectrum, you would have GTA 3/Vice City on one side, first person shooters in the middle, (something like Max Payne specifically), and The Sims on the other side. What would be cool, to me, is a game that combines all 3. Vice City took a step towards that with owning businesses, but I think the game can do more (not a complaint, just forard thinking). A game with more of an interactive environment all the way around would be amazing. And that way, it would NEVER end!

Sound

Very well done. Funny lines by the passersby, great lines in the scripted sequences, excellant job by Liotta. Overall, I can't wait for the sequel (get it to the PC asap!!!)

Gameplay

Basically, you do missions. Other than the RC copter, the missions are very cool. Well, the Seaplane was a bit of a challenge, and you never actually have to infiltrate the army base, but overall, they are pretty well thought out. They were not so much difficult as interesting. What I enjoyed the most was the storyline. That makes or breaks games, IMHO. This one had a very cool storyline that kept going and going. Not all of it made sense, but it was entertaining. One other thing, they made the city easier to get around. It isn't as twisted as GTA 3. That is good and bad. It is good, because it is easier. It is bad, because it is easier! But GTA 3 was harder because it was dark or rainy a lot of the time, and hence harder to see. But I found getting around Vice City to be a snap.

Sound

The sound in Vice City was awsome. The radio stations all were scripted well and the commentary was usually funny. I also loved the mp3 feature which permits players to import there own Mp3's into the game. This is really great because you don't have to go through the hassle of playing them in the background. The guys at rockstar sure put alot of work into the sound of Vice City and boy did it pay off.

Gameplay

The Gameplay in Vice City was far superior to that of GTA III. The missions were in-depth and somtimes featured multiple objectives. After completing the main story-line you can do various side missions such as being a fire man or a taxi driver.Or if your bored silly you could go on a massive killing spree followed by a car chase with cops and military. If your bored still after that theres jumps to take and secrets to unlock.Although its the same gameplay as on the PS2 its still great.

Sound

The sound is surprising. Top quality voice actors contribute to the game. What is even more astonishing is the music. When you get into the car, you can adjust the radio stations to your tastes. There are several hours of quality music and talk radio that you can listen to, and it is good talk radio. I would sometimes stop just to listen to the outrageous commentary, it is that good.

Gameplay

The city you play in is large, divided into 3 sections. You can walk around the city for hours. You don't even need a car to make good money, get a gun or a bat and go for muggings. Secret bonuses are found all over the city, and you can walk into different stores and actually do some shopping. People will say things to you, often rude, as you pass by.

Then it is off to steal a car. Just walk in front of one, they may or may not stop. Throw the driver out, and hope he isn't the mafia with a machine gun waiting to take his car back. Step on the gas, and you are off to the races. You can go get missions, which there are way too many to count, and do nice things for the community such as; driving prostitutes to the police mans ball, stealing peoples car and wiring them with explosives, performing hits or just racing mayhem.

Sound

ill tell you what i can about sound since i only get a certain portion. first voice acting is 11/10 they went all out for this one they got pretty much all famous guys you can recognize like ray liotta (playing tommy andfrom movies like hannibal field of dreams and operation dumbo drop), dennis hopper (knock around guys) burnt reynolds (cannon ball run) gary busey(silver bullet, lethal weapon fear and loathing in las vegas, buddy holly story, under siege) lee majors (dont kow any of his movies) lawrence taylor (none of his niether) and even blondie and deborah harry. second the radio, REALLY great for 80's they took songs that wer bearable and even likable from the 80's and putthem onthere lazlow is even back hosting the rockstation and fernando on love ballads.

Gameplay

gameplay is nothing short of great. you play as tommy vercetti(now he has a name and a voice) and after getting out of jail in liberty city his mob boss sonny forelli (GTA3 fans should remember the forelli gang) thinks that he walking around LC would make bad business so he sends him to vice to open up a small drug ring but the deal goes all but well. so you lose you money and your drugs and sonny says he'll kill if you dont get them back. and so you have no choice but to start making a name for yourself in the town of VC and getting your money back. and doing that you do a buttload of missions and side things. there are A LOT more missions in this one then GTA3 and everything is smoother. and the missions are in my oppinion very creative, from smashing jury's cars to change their mind to bank heists to just plain killing french there is always a good mission out there. plus there are some cool side things like challenges at the arena and a dirtbike challenge and street racing. and like GTA3 you can play this game for hours without attempting a single mission because you have fun justcausing havoc and enjoying a nice drive through the nice florida city. plus you'll only get like two gangs angry at you so its easier to travel without geting beaten or shot to death. but a problem still exist, the aiming. one is you got to be a distance away to get a bullet in, two is that while your shooting some guns the crosshairs shake. and a new problem exist, I have really good both sound and video card (its been a while since i checked so im not sure what they are) and im still haveing trouble running the game. one thing is i have no outside sound so i cant hear cool things like civilian random comments and the sound and throttle of a good engine, but at least i still got radio, plus every couple sec. through gameplay (not through movies though) it keeps glitching and sometimes messes up the look of the game and makes the radio sound all wierd. so i tryed e-mailing the tech support guy and instead of just doing the easy thing and sending me a page of just specific stuff and a bunch of patchs they give a little info on how to help it A LITTLE and so now i got to send my specific computer the like sound card and sound card and stuff

Sound

Along with buckloads of 80's music, which arguable gives more character to the game than anything, theres an mp3 station which u can full up with ure own tracks. However loading newer tracks may take away from the game...and the whole "80's" feel.

Gameplay

The gameplay is as fluid as it had ever been in any game, be it PC or playstation. It has a gripping story which takes a lot from every gangster film you have ever seen. The character is a rare gem in video gaming. Unlike GTA3 where your chracter got bossed around by everyone, Tommy vercetti is a real hard-ass. You are Tommy Vercetti, recently released from stir and making his way in Vice city. Various employers offer you work in non-linear fashion with each mission leading into short story arcs. Typically, those stories ultimatly end with you taking over an opposing crim's estate and business in Scarface fashion. Vehicles remain the violently bruised meat of the game, of course, and are generally better honed and less dependant on courier tasks, but it's the city itself taht provides you with sych freeroamubng independence. Vice is far larger than Liberty, and there's always something new to discover -an army base, an airport, buildings you can now wander inside, even an arena featuring GTA-ised versions of NASCAR and Stunt car mini-games. There are, sadly, a fewe ill-advised additions - the RC choppers are irritiaingly unweildy to fly, the hidden packages extreneous, and some of the latter race missions prove difficult to finish.

Sound

The sound in this game is probably the best part! 80's music, roaring car sounds, guns shooting and people screaming and making very rude remarks to you are awesome. Running someone over with a car is very detailed. You can hear the person taking contact with a car that is going 100 mph and a little squashing sound of blood when you run them over numerous amounts of times! The radio stations sound like actual radio stations! You also get an MP3 player to listen to your own tunes! You'll have to play if you want to believe!

OVERALL:

GTA: Vice City is no different than the PS2 version. The only improvements are the graphics and thats about it. The gameplay is exceptional, the graphics set standard to any PC game and the sound is phenominal! I'll repeat this again, this game is only intended for MATURE AUDEINCES ONLY! So parents, watch over your little ones! It is a very explicit game! Thanks for reading my review!

Gameplay

**WARNING! THE GAMEPLAY IN THIS GAME IS RECOMMENDED FOR MATURE AUDIENCES ONLY! IT CONTAINS BLOOD AND GORE, STRONG VIOLENCE, STRONG LANGUAGE AND SEXUAL CONTENT. PARENTAL DISCRESION IS ADVISED!** The gameplay is very fun and addictive! The game has over 100 missions and plenty of side missions, to keep you busy, after you beat the heart of the game. Now if you are sick of playing by the rules, you can break all of the rules and do anything you want! You can steal cars, kill pedestrians with over 50 different weapons and run away from the cops! As you do more bad things, the higher your felony gets! You can also help out cops and get money for good citizenship! If you see a cop trying to take down a bad guy, you can kill the bad guy and get money for showing good citizenship! Of course, a game like this can get boring, but not for me! It is very fun!

Summary

The story was cool, but seemed to lack good game playing content that could have been added. Instead it seemed like the developers spent more time supplanting sexual and peverted sexual content into the entire town, gameplay, and story.

People are really this perverted but if I wanted to see it first-hand I would go to the thousands of pornographic sites out there.

We have all seen the good Mob/mafia movies out there and they were great, mind the absence of the movie developers trying to throw in every sexual thing they could imagine.

It was enough and subtle just to have whores walking the streets and naturally women in skimpy bathing suit near the beaches.

But all the bi-sexual, dancing clubs, candy suxx posters, and the theatre all about porno was just enough to make me rate this game low.

It too bad because the game engine and idea is just awsome. I am hoping someone with sense will take this same game idea and engine and leave out the trash.

Sound

The sound was almost flawless.

Gameplay

The motorcycles and helicopters were an addition that made the missions fun and getting around the city easy and fun.

The game could have lasted a little longer and left out the trashy drugs and sexual perversion. In my opinion there was so much of this that it made the game not worth playing or recommending.

The game is fun just because your in a city in which you can take any car, weapon or vehicle plus other things.

The missions were pretty fun, but I can only think of 2 or 3 that were worth play again.

I think generally though, that there wasn't enough to do in such a big, detailed city.

I think they definitely should have added, fishing, golf, gambling/casino(maybe they were too enfatuated with their lusting appitizers.) tennis and other recreation. For goodness sakes, its a big city and its in Florida.

I hated the missions that had you use the remote helicopter. Its controls were silly and were entirely different from the large helicopters(which were perfect).

Sound

Brilliant as usual. Hours of quality music mixed seamlessly with pseudo-commercials. Of course you can load your own MP3s, but I would like to have seen an in-game console for manipulating the order in which your own songs play. All of the ambient sound, including pedestrian speech is clever and witty. Each pedestrian type has their own set of things to say which may make you chuckle when you drive by or perhaps punch them in the face. When you change areas of the map you may not notice, but there are some changes in ambient sound which is mostly just icing on this very good cake. The vehicle sounds were a little dissapointing, especially with the motorcycles. All of the engine sounds increase with pitch as you go faster. This inevitably means that when you are doing 250 mph on the PCJ it sounds like a remote control car. This is only a minor annoyance, and I would say overall that Rockstar has produced a beautiful sounding game. Oh and good voice casting as well.

Gameplay

Of course the gameplay is similar to GTA3 considering it is the prequel. However, there are enough new features to make any GTA fan happy. Vice City brings the return of motorcycles (which haven't been around since the first two GTAs) and introduces a handful of helicopters as well. What most people fail to mention is the new and improved driving physics which allow for wheelies, stoppies and driving on two wheels in cars. Plenty of weapons, fairly engrossing storyline, and a myriad of side adventures such as "keepie uppie ball" and "seagull sniping". The ability to change costumes in game is another bonus that has been added since GTA3 which helps to make missions more believable and varied. I can't see how anyone would be disappointed with this game.
