Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 for Windows Videos >>
Summary Tony Hawks Pro Skater 2 is the best skateboarding game I have ever played. I thought the first one was good. Man!!! THPS2 is way better. It's the year 2003. Your probally asking yourself why did that guy get THPS 2 instead of THPS3. Well for one thing I never played this game. I played the first, third, and fourth Tony Hawk Games. And it was only $10.00. So I said what the heck!! I made a great great choice. Heres why!Sound The sound is average. The SFX are good but could be better. They could of added some character speech while skating. Like You suck!! You are so bad. Or Dumb Butt. Or something like that. The music is awesome. Theres PAPA ROACH, POWERMAN 5000, and many more. All in all Tony Hawk ProSkater is a awesome skating game. If your looking for a Tony Hawk game either get THPS 1 or 2. Don't get the other ones. Why? Because it's too frustrating. THPS 2 is so good that I'm going to get it on my Dreamcast this spring. Gameplay In THPS 2 you are skater. You skate around a arena finding cards, and secret places on a time limit. And you must perform some stunts that they tell you to do in the loading part feature. The game modes are Single Session, Career, Options, Park Editor, and Free Skate. Unlike the first Tony Hawk you can actully build a skate park. How cool is that. They also have a balance feature when you grinding which makes gameplay some what more realistic but, more enjoyable. Theres more gameplay than that. You can adjust or create your own skater by performing some major tasks in career mode. You also get Secret Characters. Such as Spider Man, and Batman. The best part of the gameplay is the free skate. It's so so fun. Well the gameplay is good but what about the graphics.Would you like to Comment? Summary This is very close to the best PC game I have ever played! The only game better than this is Tony 3! I played this for at least 20 hours, and I never got tired of it! If you don't have it, go out there and buy it RIGHT AWAY!!!Sound The sound on Tony 2 is the best on any video game, period. Awesome sound effects make for tolally realistic crashes, and on competitions the crowd even cheers and boos. The game also has a totally rockin' soundtrack with lots of rock and rap.Gameplay The gameplay is flawless. It has never frozen or even skipped a little when I have played it. It's very easy to control, and you can even customize the controls, for easier tricks. The air tricks are awesome, and grinding is even better!Would you like to Comment? Summary This game is the best! Especially for xbox, but that is THPS2X. The levels are great, and the music is awesome! Graphics are a whole lot better than Tony Hawk 1. And that park editor really does spice it up!Sound The sound is great. I like almost every track, except a few. I still like Tony Hawk 1 sound the best, but this game still has a nice sound track.Gameplay The controls are excellent, and the game is quite addicting. Although it can get frustrating at times, you tend to get used to wiping out. Rating the fun factor 1-10 I would have to say a good 9!Would you like to Comment? Has provided me with hours of fun over the past 6 months.I would definetly recommend this game to anyone who likes X-games. There is not even another skateboarding game out on the PC that compares. Extreme sports seem to be put more on the console like skateboarding (Xbox, Playstation2), snowboarding(Xbox, Playstation2), and jet skis (gamecube). I wish more games would come out on the PC, because personally I like these types of games and do not have a console. Sound Not much here. Same music throughout the game. Only about 4 tracks. When your skater falls, you get a pretty realistic "thug" as they hit the ground. Music is kind of repetitive and usually listened to the radio instead, or mp3's.Gameplay Gameplay is very fun for me. Trying to pull of the tricks is not as easy as it looks. Out of the 8 levels, and they are huge, there a goals along the way that you must complete in order to get money. With the money that you win you can buy more stats or a better skateboard. Some of the things you have to do to get money are grind posts, ollie over sleeping guys, get 40,000 points, collect the phrase SKATE, find money in the air. Summary this game is alright, its not the best, but it could've been better. it was a little easy, and i beat it within the first few days i had it. it could've had more levels, and harder things to go for, but other than that its an alright game.Sound the sound isn't all that good, considering that i only got one song to listen to during the whole game. could've had some different sounds for the stalls and different grinds. and when you fall, its pretty much the same every time.Gameplay gameplay is fairly easy, the controls are easy to get used to, and same with the tricks. good variety of tricks, that look good, but you only really have one view of the skater - from the back. the levels could've been bigger and had more ramps and rails. they also could've been harder, they were way to easy to beat.Would you like to Comment? The graphics are good even though you only have 2 angles looking at your skaters back, very close and close, not good. This game will rule you. You will not be able to stop playing. Comeing from an ex-skater the tricks look great. I feel like im skateing all over again.Sound The sound was good but the music got a little old. There are about 10 tracs of some songs but when you are playing for hours trying to land some more tricks the same music is over and over and over. You should have a much larger music track or be able to select what music you want.Gameplay This game is very hard to finish. You have to do all the set things to do in the level. Then even though it sayes 100% done it still isnt. You have to do certin "gap" tricks to finish the game. I have spent many hours just trying to land 1 trick. Over and over. It is fun to do the tricks at first but then you end up trying over and over just to land 1 trick!Would you like to Comment? I don't like sequals, except Quake and Diablo. I had THPS on Playstation, and liked it, so i figured with the big hype put on part 2, you would figure it to be better, WRONG.Sound Sound on this game is simpley a replica of Dave Mirra BMX. Come on, give me something diffrent, like the option of inserting my own music or have a "play link" [Hint, Hint, Activition], that will play my Music CD's while playing the game.Gameplay This seemed like a fun game untill I realized that some of the levels were almost impossible to beat. I don't like haveing to play a game for several long grueling and frustrating hours just to beat one single level. This game was suposed be fun but was actualy really anoing do to the difficulty, there should have been a difficulty setting, but there wasn't. I almost had to enter a cheat code just to get to the new parks. If there wasn't any cheats for this game, I would have taken it back to the store, NO JOKE.Would you like to Comment? Summary Great game all around. My big complaint is regardarding the multiplayer function. I have two comps, a 233 w/ 128sdram a Vodoo3500, and a P3 w/ 1gSdram Matrox G400max connected via LAN, and the 233 just plain dogs in multiplayer. If activision could make available some sort of patch to further accelerate, or modify video drivers that would be nice. They also from the looks of most reviews i've read they should definately look into real internet multi-player action, maybe take some tips from the Half-Life creators, if they can do it so can Activision w/ Tony Hawk2.The skatepark creator is definately a must in this game after you've pretty much conquered all the levels, though this option is also limited to certain map sizes and objects your allowed to place into the map. I think the only limitation you should have with these maps is the speed of your computer, and hard drive space. Who wouldn't occasionally like to throw a few abnoxious bums into their custom park, or have your park of the beach. I guess I understand this version for the PC wasn't exactly their main focus, versus Playstation and such, but hey that's wear the game was engineered in the first place right. Sound On point.Gameplay In single mode this game leads to many hours of lost sleep due to continues play.Would you like to Comment? I sure got my A$79.95 worth. No complaints other than it didn't read in my CD drive and I had to install the pityful 4X drive from my old PC then undergo a painstakingly slow installation, run the game only to discover an interfacing problem with my keyboard causing me not to be able to control the skater, wasting several internet hours searching for a solution to my problem only to find one does not yet exist, dragging my ass out once again to EB Morayfield, forking out A$34.50 for a Microsoft Sidewinder Plug & Play game controller, trudging home again, rigging up the game controller and delighting myself with this extraordinary game. Neversoft, Activision: I forgive you for the trouble I went through to get this game running. Bloody good game, did I mention.Gameplay Sweeeeeeeet! Challenging, non repetitive, fun, lasting. All the elements of an excellent game. Much improved since the first - better moves, skaters, goals; not to mention the Create a Skater and Park Editor options. Obviously this type of game may not appeal to some, but anyone who likes skateboarding, extreme sports, the original THPS, air sailing stunts, a good challenge or a great single player game - go buy this one!Would you like to Comment? Summary This game perfectly does what games are suppose to do, bring it's players into a position which seems impossible to be in.Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2(THPS)brings more of what made the first game so successful, and added more features like track editing. You heard that right, you can make that 1 mile rail you have always wanted to grind (though you would fall flat on your face within a 100 foot :). All in all, THPS is a well executed package that brings the realm of Console gaming closer to the pc. If given a choice though, I say keep it on the dreamcast. It's one of those games that give that old console feel nostalgia. Sound If you find pleasure in the sound of one's head thunding over pavement, then this is the game for you. Different from it's anscestor, THPS now has body noises everytime you hit the floor. Pleasent, not really...it get's annoying fast. It does help you stop sucking though, so eventually you will stop hearing it. All the other sound effects in the game though are amazingly well done. The music on the other hand I got annoyed off really quickly. Rage Againts is great and all but if I hear Guerilla Radio one more time, I swear I will show someone what rage is. Oddly enough my favorite Deftones song is suppose to be on the track list, but I haven't been able to find it yet. Gameplay THPS works of a very well executed character development engine. You can either play as one of the modern heroes of skateboard, or your own created one, and go through a "Quest" to better yourself. You go from stage to stage collecting money for completing goals like getting certain amount of points, getting enough characters to spell a word, or finding a very well hidden tape. Eventually as you collect enough money, you open other stages and keep going. Sounds boring and monotonous, but it's far from it. The level design in THPS demands that it's players explore every nuance there is. If you take the time to look around, you find that theres a rail on the ceiling, that if you hit correctly rewards you for your efforts. Accompany this with steller control (albeit with a pad, keyboard control is plain hidious) and you have a winner.Note* - Do not play this game with a keyboard, it's doable but far from the fun it's suppose to be. Many players will find what brings them back to THPS is the fact that you get paid for your ability to explore, and how skilled you are. It's a game you can pick up, but it takes a while to master. The levels are nicely done and also throws in some THPS 1 levels once you beat the game. Another thing i love about this game is that the controls are so easy, unlike other sport games. This game comes with great extras as well, such as really dope skate video clips of an array of skaters.Sound The music in this game is alright but who cares when you can always disable it and turn up the sound fx's,which are great. Everything from grinds to ollies to falls have their own distict sound.Gameplay Gameplay in THPS2 is very smooth and addictive. Like the original, there is carrer mode and also multiplayer games such as horse. Everytime you play it you will find a new challege or new gaps or secret areas you thought never existed. Oh yeah..the codes are pretty good too.Would you like to Comment? Join VideoGameReview for a free account, or Login if you are already a member. Summary Very cooooolll game!! Activision did an awesome job on this one! You get to skate as Jamie Thomas, Tony Hawk, Steve Caballero, Kareem Campbell, along with 9 other top professional skaters. It's better than the first one. With more levels, skaters, tricks and, secrets.Sound Killer music and sound effects!!! The music suits this game perfectly! It's heavy metal/rap music so if your not into that kind of stuff, you may want to turn it of, but why would you turn it off if you like skate boarding, it's skate boarding music!!Gameplay The gameplay is very addicting. You just can't stop. There's so much stuff to do. One of my favorites is the park editor, where you get to make your very own skate park! With halfpipes, funboxes, kicker jumps and, rails just to name a few! The create skater is pretty cool, although I would of liked a little more variety in the faces and clothes. The career mode is really fun! While you make your way through the eight career levels, you have to complete a number of objectives and get a high score in order to win cash to buy stats, boards and, tricks! The single player and free skate modes are wonderful features, because there's way way more levels in them then in the career mode! It's a must to have a gamepad. You can't play it on the keyboard too well, it's really uncomfortable.Would you like to Comment? Join VideoGameReview for a free account, or Login if you are already a member. It seems that everything has been done just right, the game just seems to make you need to just "try that jump, just one more time" ( which leads to another attempt, and another, and another......). And best of all, the game when played for hours on end, doesn't make you feel like some kinda whacked out zombie... it just makes you wanna "get out and SKATE!"Sound there aint no problems here, the musical score is excellent, i mean, geez, its got rage against the machine on it, what more could you ask for? All the sound effects seem to be in order... i just love that sickening squelch when your skater lands head first on solid concrete... man thats GOTTA hurt!Gameplay Like I said... everything seems to be just right! The absolutely massive tricks library means you're almost guaranteed to find something you've never seen before. One thing i really liked was the "create skater" option, although i did feel genuinely sickened when my creation ( built in my own likeness ) ate copious amounts of concrete at every turn as i got to grips with the game. The create park option also contributed to hours of enjoyment on my part, although it is somewhat limited, its great fun to make a seemingly impossible gap, and then sail right through it and impress all your friends. Add to this the fact that in the game you can already choose from loads of skaters ( almost all of which have a pretty wicked video at the end - check out jamie thomas's and geoff rowleys... now they ROCK) and some real top quality parks... this is an absolute must buy.... no really.... it is... actually, stop reading this and go buy it now if you dont have it!Would you like to Comment? Summary Overall the game is a wonderful piece of software. After you get over the fact that it's Tony Hawk with a park editor and different tracks, plus a couple new characters, it's wonderful! Sound The sound is almost perfect! Sans the odd sound they can make when they fall sometimes. The Music, to me, is great! Everything from Millencolin to Naughty By Nature...good selection of songs, except for maybe that dumbass song from Papa Roach! But, that's just me, maybe everyone else likes it. Although, I do feel there could have been some better songs, the overall result was outstanding. At least it wasn't Dave Mirra's BMX! Gameplay After I started playing this game I didn't want to put it down, until I couldn't make a jump, then, I just wanted to break something! In my honest opinion, this has some of the best replayability around right now on the market...considering it's a sports game, and I'm not really into sports. Which, for me says alot, since I passed up on all of the Dreamcast Sports titles, and for every other console out there. Overall thought: Awesome Gameplay, Exactly like THPS1, and there's nothing wrong with that! Would you like to Comment? Join VideoGameReview for a free account, or Login if you are already a member. All you have to do is pick a skater, level, and make up your own little story behind it, and you've got enough fun to last for hours. There are so many moves that can be accomplished, that it will take a long time to truly master the game. The Create-A-Park and Create-A-Skater features are the best. You can make anything from an all-out street course, to an air hangin' half-pipe arena. Once you unlock the cheats, you too will be able to master not only the 900-degree spin, but you can go farther into the 1260-degree range. Summary If you've played THPS2 for the PSX, then you have an idea of what the PC version is like because it's pretty much the same game. However, the PC version improves slightly on the older port by offering improved graphics, a higher frame rate, the ability to use higher resolutions and best of all, minimal loading times! No more waiting for an options screen!Sound One of the best video game soundtracks I've ever heard can be found in THPS2. Papa Roach, Anthrax, Rage Against The Machine and Bad Religion amongst other bands make their presence known with killer tunes. However, you'd think that since PC games are geared toward more of an adult crowd that the songs would go unedited, but they still bleep out the naughty words. Minor gripe though. In addition to the soundtrack, the regular sounds are great, from the board rolling on the ground to the taxi drivers yelling at you when they run you over.Gameplay Gameplay is identical to the PSX version. If you own a Gravis Gamepad Pro (PSX look-a-like controller without the dual shock), then you'll feel right at home because the button setup is the same. You got your jump button, flip and grab buttons and grind button. You also have two buttons for additional spinning controls and two others to do switches and nollies. Landing tricks is a breeze, just make sure your board is aligned with the direction you are falling and you're set. You get bonus points if you land a trick perfectly and you get points reduced if your landing is sloppy. In career mode, you have to perform goals and collect cash to by stat power-ups and new tricks. You must complete all goals and collect all cash icons to get 100% on each stage, although new levels will open up if you have so much cash, so if you just want to quickly get through all the courses, you don't need to do everything, but you forsake special options, such as lunar gravity, if you don't go for 100% goals. In addition, you also play in competitions where you have to score high and not bail to win gold medals for extra cash and the right to view videos for each skater. The only thing that is lacking in gameplay is an internet multiplayer mode. It'd be pretty cool if you could face off against people around the world for bragging rights.Would you like to Comment? Summary I am running Windows 2000 professional. . Works great.I am not a big gamer, however I did play the first version of this game on N64. I was a little worried that the speed and smoothness would not be there. . . .I had no reason to worry. The game (generally) is far better than the 1st version with more interesting levels and better ideas. Collecting cash to buy new tricks and stats is a great idea. Although the interface to go through options, buy tricks and make changes is not very intuitive, it serves the purpose. Sound OK. Most of the songs are not great. Here is an idea, they should let you select a sound track from your hard drive in MP3. Wouldn't be that hard.Gameplay Gameplay is just as I remember with N64. Solid. I suggest having a gamepad with more that 4 standard buttons and two triggers. Get a pad with 6 buttons and 2 triggers. Tricks are consistant and easy to perfect.Would you like to Comment?
