Summary

I used to play the PC port of the first spider-man for playstation. It had low production value, you had limited webbing, the graphics weren't that great, the controls were cumbersome, but you know I still think I like that one quite a bit better than this one! The levels are very short, and what the heck is it with a race before EVERY boss? And this isn't a fun kind, this is a "make one mistake and you've blown it" type of race. Oh, and it's even better that in some cases you can't quit right away if you mess up, you still have to finish....brilliant. I would give the game a score of at least better than average, except for the Venom chance with Electro. Picture this, you are chasing a character who constantly insluts you, fires electricity that freezes you temporarily (when any delay can make you lose) and uses a electrical ball around himself that throws you backward...naturally it's often off a building putting you out of range of him and costing you the round....fun. Then, it's also apparently glitchy at that point, because after I finished it the boss battle crashed and I had to do it again...that alone was so obnoxious and so irritating to play that it lowers the score considerably. It really is THAT freaking annoying. A last word, that Venom race may be the highpoint of annoyance, but the ones with Jonny Storm aren't a whole lot better. If they only had maybe 5 voice clips, you'd think they wouldn't spit them out one every two seconds. It also makes so much sense that he insults you for being behind him...when you are well ahead of him. Don't even bother with this game if you can't pick it up for $20 or less. It's not bad, but it's not great.

Decent music, good voices, annoying race characters.

Gameplay

This is a game? More like a set of pointless chores followed by a couple minutes of game, then back to the chores. The camera will drive you nuts at first, and it's not great even after you get used to it, but it's better than some past titles.
