Kids will love it! My child ALWAYS plays it and I can't get them to stop! It IS worth the money. I/ my children personally like Super Mario Worlsd better thjan the game Mario Bros. whcih comes with the game(see gameplay). I enjoy playing this with my child and so will you! Both of my children play it- ages 10 and 12. Their cousin also plays the game and he's only 6. Get this game!Sound The sound is good. The music changes every level and sometimes repeats itself. It blends together well with the rest of the game.Gameplay First, You turn on the Power button. Press the A button unless you would like to show the clip of the story before you play. You then press single player if you would like to play alone. Next, it will tell u to choose the game. Click on either one. I prefer Super Mario World so I will describe that game. YOu choose a file and then click A. You will tehn come to a map where it shows you the levels you must complete. YOu have a selection of either Mario or Luigi. Luigi runs faster and jumps higher than Mario. Choose wisely in which one you pick in order to beat the game. Press the A button to begin playing. Look at the Instruction Manual for furhter details on HOW TO play the game.Would you like to Comment? Join VideoGameReview for a free account, or Login if you are already a member. Summary Definetly go out and buy this game. This is a must for any super mario game fan or a person who likes adventure games then this is the one to get.Controls: The controls are simple. You'll get use to it in a couple of minutes. Sound The sound is the same as the super nintendo version.Gameplay This game is awesome. The same thing as the super nintendo version but you can play it handheld. There are plenty of levels and bosses to go through with a good storyline. The gameplay seems a little too easy for me because I've beaten this game before on the super nintendo version.Would you like to Comment? Summary First off, let me just say that I never owned an SNES, so obviously I never owned this game as a kid. I did play it a little when I went to my friends' houses, though, so playing it does bring back the kid in me. I suppose that puts me in an ideal position: I experience nostalga while playing this, but I do not immediatley know how to beat every level and boss. As a matter of fact, it even took me about 12 times to figure out how to beat Bowser. So, If you totally played the heck out of Super Mario World as a Kid and are now bored sick of it, or if you for some inexplicable reason have never played this game before, the score I gave this game may not apply to you.Sound The tunes can be really catchy at times, and are relevant to the type of level you are in. I actually found myself humming along to the tunes, which is a good sign. My mom got annoyed with me, though, so I had to stop.Gameplay It's a Mario game, and quite a good one at that (as if there ever has been a bad one) The Controls work remarkably well on the GBA, Dare I say even better than they did on the SNES. In the game, you run around through well designed levels, trying to reach the goals at the end of the levels, all the while stomping on odd creatures such as goompas and koopas. The Levels present a decent challenge, but nothing anyone shouldn't be able to beat with enough perseverence. The secrets, such as the switch houses and star road entrances, are very cleverly hidden, as many took me quite some time to find. There are even some secret paths that I am still trying to find. Of course, as I had mentioned before, if you already owned this game on the SNES, the secrets probably wouldn't be as big of a deal, since you already would know where they are.Oh, and the addition of the Classic Mario Bros. game for multiplayer is a nice touch, but not a big enough deal to be a major selling point. Summary The game is wicked I think Blue Yoshis are better (but they're better when you're Caped Mario or Caped Luigi) and fly farther and yes, Red shells cannot be spitted out of any coloured Yoshi since the red shells can be kicked up in the air. It isn't the hardest game but the blue switch was hard.Sound The sound is quite hearable if you have new batteries in your GBA and it has great sound when Yoshi spits out Green shells and hits walls and enemies Blue Yoshi flying (if he is gone in the pit go get him from TOP SECRET AREA" Red Yoshi spitting out fire and Yellow Yoshi stomping his sand feet. The other sounds are not too hearable. And the other sounds are OK.Gameplay It sounds easy, but the switches are easy.Yellow switch palace:Is near the first level of Donut Plains which is the top of the mountain. The yellow! give you mushrooms. Green switch palace:Is in the 2nd world Donut Plains in donut plains 2. Go to the 2nd pipe (make sure you have a yoshi) and fly up. The green! Give you feathers. Red Switch Palace:It's in the Vanilla dome in the second level. Get the Key without getting hit by the fish enemies. Red! and blue! don't give items. Blue switch Palace:Is in the 2nd level of the forest find the pipe and key and don't flick it down the pit. Would you like to Comment? Summary I can remember my first time playing Super Mario World on my cousins SNES. It was complete magic from start to finish. It was like God had carefully crafted a game just for me to play and it was this. It is simply the best Mario game on the planet and one of the best video games in the world. Classic Mario gameplay (butt-stomping, fireball shooting, platform jumping) with a new set of moves (flying, spinning, flaoting, ect.)Awsome new characters (yoshi!!!) and original bad-ass villians (yeah, I'm talking about Koopa). Everyone deserves to play this masterpeice. When I had first bought it for my GBA, I couldn't wait to play. I was a child again. I fired it up and . . . . . . . .Tears . . . . tears of joy, unlike any other. It was a beautiful day. Sound Best Mario music in history, Period. The tunes are as bright as it's graphics. Stomps and explosions and the unique sound when you collect coins is all here in its clarity and excellence. The game even features voice overs of Mario and Luigi, which is the best I've heard of any other Game Boy Advance Game. Gameplay If you love Mario games (and who doesn't?) and are familiarized with past control and games, then rejoice. All the original moves and more. How about tons of enemies and bosses. Add nearly a hundred different levels and here you have it. Hidden sub-games and levels are fun to find and now you have the chance to play Mario's green bro LUIGI (which was a bitch for me. His gravity physics are of the chart.), and a lots of secrets to uncover. Don't pass this game up. In fact, first time find it, BUY IT. Even if you don't have a gameboy, becuase now you'll have a reason to buy one. Would you like to Comment? Join VideoGameReview for a free account, or Login if you are already a member. Summary Wow! What a fabulous game! This is by far the best game for the Game Boy Advance, of all time, period! Bowser takes over Dinosaur Land, and it is up to you, a little Italian, and your younger brother Luigi, to save Dino Land and Yoshi!Bowser has scattered some of his neices and nephews across the island as bosses to destroy you on your journey and stop you from getting to Bowser. Good luck, this game is not too hard and not too easy, it is just right. You can choose to play and switch with Mario and Luigi, and with the power of an egg, you can ride on Yoshi.Fun and easy to learn gameplay, with great scenery in every level. Great sound effects that match the game well. All the levels, and all of the bosses are great fun to play. This game is very complex in a good way, SuperMario Advance 2 blends Mario 1,2,and 3 jammed into one small cartridge for one awesome package! The graphics are always crisp, and, for the GBA, could'nt be better. So, this game has everything, Great storyline, great graphics, nice sound, sweet gameplay, and plenty of levels and bosses to keep you happy for a long time!! If I could give this game more than 5 for each part, I most certainly would.Sound Sound effects will keep you happy for months! This games sound effects are some of the best i've heard from any GBA game.Gameplay Fun gameplay, easy to learn, the replay value is extremely high for this game.Would you like to Comment? It good but they killed the sound(See below) Sound Here's what they ruined. There made the sound way to high pitched and tiny sounding. Heavy drums aregone replaced by tin can noises for yoshis theme and Vailla dome, Bowser Valley and bowser boss theme's used a heavy drum on Super NES but on this version its replace by a sound like sticks hitting each other. (You can hardly hear that too. Gameplay It changed a tad bit because there's no X and Ybuttons on this gameboy. L and L repaces X and Y controls. Would you like to Comment? When I lost it, I was downright depressed. So, naturally, when it came out for GBA, I was Excited with a capital "E."The game is just as fun as I remembered. The perfect 2D platformer, in my opinion. There's nothing quite as satisfying as controlling that little plumber and his brother. Super Mario Advance 2 is Mario at his best. Sound The sound of SMA2 excels. The music suits each level perfectly, creating a wonderfully full environment. The sound is great and never gets old. What more can I say? Super Mario World is a classic and dserves to be brought back every ten years. Long live the plumber! Gameplay Excellent. Who doesn't love Mario gameplay? The game is huge and there are several ways to beat each level. You get to play as either Mario or Luigi, though the only difference is that Luigi has a flutter jump which lets him stay in the air longer. The other key character is Yoshi, the dinosaur who you can ride and use to swallow enemies. Yoshi comes in four colors. Green is the default Yoshi, red breathes out fire, yellow does a tremendous stomp, and blue can fly. The power-ups are as familiar as ever. There's the mushrooms, the coins, the fire flower, and the starman to name a few. Control of the characters is easy to use, but it doesn't mean the game is a breeze. Some levels are particularly tough. In addition to the main game is the original Mario Bros. game which is fun to play between levels. Would you like to Comment? Summary Super Mario Advance 2(Super Mario World) has to be one of the best games ever created.Ive played it millions of times on snes and im still not bored of it.When i heared that itwas coming out for the gba i brought gba just for it.You take the role of Mario or Luigi (an improvement from the snes version)and go through levels of fast paced, side scrolling action.Enemies range from little turtles walking around to flowers coming out of pipes and shooting u with flames to sleeping fish.It has 96 levels each with its own unique charactaresrtics. You can power urself up with a mushroom, use a flower to shoot ur opponents or get a feather and fly around looking for shortcuts and bonuses.Having Yoshi with you just adds to the exitement.Sound The songs are good but it is a little hard to hear some parts of them.Gameplay Easy to master controles and stages that keep you feeling satesfied after u beat them, you cant get any better then that.Would you like to Comment? Summary OMG, Nintendo is going to keep pushing garbage like this as long as their games keep getting rave reviews. This game is ten years old and is shows.Sound Nintendo quality at it's best. It's a crying shame that this game even made it to the market. I've lost all respect for the Mario series. Didn't Nintendo learn it's lesson after Mario Advance?Gameplay Hmm, Nintendo never got over the fact that a little company called Sega created a little Hedgehog character that beat all the mario games in terms of depth, speed, graphics, gameplay, and sound. I loved all the Mario Bros. games on my nintendo. But after buying a Sega and playing Sonic 1 and 2. I am sick of seeing overhyped garbage like this.Would you like to Comment? Summary This game is a classic from the era of the SNES.There are a few changes (See Gameplay). But this game has a multi-player mode. You don't need more than one game to play! Its just the game, some friends, some Game boy Advances, and a few Link Cables! You, as either Mario or Luigi Go through 7 worlds, with a few secret exits, to defeat Bowser and resume the vacation on Yoshi's Island. Sound The Sound is pretty catchy. If you have Yoshi in a cave, the sound will be different than normal.Gameplay The gameplay is great. But Luigi has that funny jump still! Mario has a standard jump but he can run faster than Luigi. Plus there are plenty of Mushrooms to make you grow. Fire Flowers can make you shoot Fireballs. The Feather can make you fly.Would you like to Comment? Summary The nice little plumber is back, well sort of back, he is really back with the exact same mission, just in a portable package. The game is almost identical to the SNES version, but if you missed that, this is a must play. The game is addictive, and loads of fun. It does offer some challenges, but the experianced gamer will defeat it in a relitivly short time. You start off at Yoshi's house, and you just discovered the Princes is gone, again.(Why can't she ever learn to stay with Mario, every game...) Anyway, you, Mario and Luigi, must go and save her from the evil Bowser, again. Mario is the guy you will want for most of the game, because he is faster, and Luigi's jumps are hard to control. There are times when Luigi is the better choice, though. You work your way through several different areas, which consist of about four regular levels, a ghost house, and then a castle. The ghost houses are tough, because you normally have to find some secret to unlock the door out. Each castle ends with one of Bowsers kids as the boss. In the end, after making the long journy, you fight Bowser. Lots of fun. I'll leave you to guess what happens when you defeat him. Sound The sound is classic Mario, if you like it, you will like this, if you don't, just turn the volume down and listen to the radio.Gameplay The game plays very strait forrword, it is a 2-d environment, so you can only go up, down, left, right. The button controls are very easy to master, the only thing I have trouble with was flying, but you will get that down in no time. It tests your patience, like all good Mario games. If you continue to keep going at it, eventually the all the jumps will fall, you dodge at the right time, and defeat the level, then the game.Would you like to Comment? The game that revolutionised the SNES? Super Mario World has quite a pedigree - now you can add '10 year old conversion' to it's CV.Super Mario Advance 2 is the ever-loved (except by pre-1995 Sega fans) SNES classic, near-identical to the original. The plot is the same - Bowser has kidnapped Princess Peach, and you have to traverse across 96 levels to get to her. That's right - 96, much more than Crash XS or Sonic Advance. Most offer a good challenge to hone your skills, and they come in several different areas. Nice names for them, too: Chocolate Island, Vanilla Dome, Soda Lake. Soda Lake? Yup, you can swim underwater for some levels. Some areas are also ghost houses filled with ghouls and fake doors. There are also 4 Switch Palaces that fill in blocks. These make the game easier. What don't make the game easier are the fortresses and castles that populate the Dinosaur Land. Another 2 things should make you sit up and take notice - power ups and Yoshi. You can get various power ups, like the fire flower (shoot flowers) and the cape (fly). The Yoshis come in eggs, which can be used to ride on during the game. Touching an enemy will lose the Yoshi, and you have to regain him by jumping on him. Playing as Yoshi is a lot more fun than you'd think. For one thing, he can swallow *most* of the enemies you meet, and can spit them out again if required. He can also jump high, and can be found in several colours. One final thing you ought to know before the criticism. You can play as either Mario or Luigi. Luigi is taller than Mario, and can jump higher. Hee's slippery to control, and his Yoshi doesn't immediately swallow what he eats,. Criticism? The game's easier than the SNES version - it is! In the 2 days I had Super Mario World for the SNES (a loan of a friend), I managed to get to the Chocolate Island with 38 levels. In the first 2 days I have had Super Mario Advance 2, I managed to complete all 96 levels and complete the entire game. The extra game tacked on, Mario Bros, probably deserves a column of it's own. It's an arcade prefect version, but it's the same frustrating version that came with SMA1. Don't think I'm a games amatuer. I fully completed this game, Sonic Advance, SMA1, Earthworm Jim and Chu Chu Rocket, for the GBA. Ive also completed loads of other games, including Mario 64, Spyro 1 and 2 and 3, all 5 Crash games on the PSone, and even others like Final Fantasy 7, Metal Gear Solid and PokeMon, and I've reviewed quite a few of these games in the past. You can trust what I say. I say that Super Mario Advance 2 is indeed a great game, full of challenge, but it's over too quickly for the veteran. If you're looking for long-term thrills, try getting all 96 levels, then try another, more fulfilling game - like Crash and Sonic. One thing's for sure - there's one level that you may be very unlikely to get to. *Level access spoiler ahead* TOP SECRET AREA In the Donut Plains Ghost House, you'll need a Caped Mario, or Luigi. Run (hold B and walk) to the end of the first area, then run backwards towards the start. Following the flying technique (press A when Mario/Luigi performs a dash animation), fly towards the edge of the sky and try to land on the platform way above you. Find the exit from here, and you'll find the Top Secret Area, where you'll get Mushrooms, Fire Flowers, Feathers and a Yoshi. Walk towards one of the edges to 'finish' the level. Sound Justice would mean that the above box's comment would be very similar to what should go in here. Except that wouldn't be justice - that would be a cheap short cut.Simply put - the sound is cheery but basic, and a console which is sooning pushing out SSX Tricky on it's format, doesn't require 'basic' to pull it away from pushing forward. Gameplay The gameplay for this game is really good for it's system. Whereas Sonic's games have high-speed thrills, Mario's game are filled with puzzle-like challenges. Levels are rarely over in a minute, and many enemies await you. Vast open areas are a dream for flying, dashing and Yoshis. Believe me, you'll get a lot of fun out of this game.Would you like to Comment? Join VideoGameReview for a free account, or Login if you are already a member. Summary This game may not have the 3d some games have but it has been a long awaited game. Looking back I sorta think it was stupid to think it would work on gameboycolor but I used to complain about it anyway. I think this is the greatest 2d mario evermade and its defenently better than the snes version. (beacause of its updates) Mario bros is ok to I guess.Sound The sound doesnt have enough seperate tracks. THere are only about 3 in level tracks. Though they did update this game to add voices it not enough. The mario bros tracks sound fimilyer from marobros deluxe for gameboy color.Gameplay This makes perfect control locations and the hardest move is probably the cape flying move that keeps you up longer. THis game has plenty of secret levels one leads straight to bowsers castle skiping about half the game. Mario bros has some difficulty to figure out how it works but after you do the game becomes relitivly simple.Would you like to Comment? Even beforethe Nintendo 64 and The playstation...think back to the time of the Super nintendo, now, remember a game called super mario world? well if you do, your in luck. Nintendo Has put the groundbraking platformer out of the super nintend, and made a few minor adjustments, and stuffed it into the game boy advance. How did it turn out? simply put, super mari world remains the best game ever.Ok so the game starts with a new inrto, not in the super nintendo game. Lugi is standing in a feild with a feather cape on and standing next to another feather cape, mrio and peach show up in a new hot air ballon. Mario runs and grabs the feather cape, then starts flying, and you get a chance to look at some sweet scenery. Eventually luigi cathes up and they keep on flying. When They go back to the ballon, Gasp! prinscess peach is missing! It looks like it will be up to mario and luigi to save her. This time around, you have the choice of playing of either mario orluigi, and this time, luigi has the insane floaty jump from super mario advance (super mario bros 2) This can be either extemley usefull, or disgustingly frustrating, he is somewhat difficult to control, but vetrain super mario world player may like to use him for a nice, steady change of pace, or they will want to stick with good old reliable mario. Some other Differences beetween mario and luigi are that, When luigi is in fire flower mode, is fireballs go much higher than marios, making it easier to kill those pesky koopas. And although i hate to admit it, Luigi is a cheap choice when oing flying levels, as he can to the down up swoosh ling far easier than mario can, he also is slower, making it easier to collect coins, and take a long amount of time tofall down if you fly over the top of the screen. Now lets take a inute to discuss our good pal yoshi, he has pretty muchthe same, although the bongo music that plays along when you are riding him, weas replaced with tin cans, not verry noticable, really, hardly worth mentioning. Also, when luigi rides yoshi, he has the ability to spit out enimies apose to swollowing them(ala, yoshis island) making for a nice alternitive way to kill dinos. Some things in the game have been changed, and like something i said above(dont remember what) they are hardly worth mentioning, but i will anyway. first off, now when you grab a fire flower, there is a slight skin tone change. Now lugi luigi and mario , luigi is taller than mario, instead of same character sprites with different colors. and lugis suit is now green/ blue oppose to green/puple(yuck). The halloween setting that you could obtain only by beating the last special world, "Funky" and using the star port next to it, to warp to yoshis house. Now you can only get the halloween stting by beeting every goal in every single level. The yoshi coans are now in every single level, and if you get all of them, you get a cool prize. The game Also now has a new status screen, which is usefull for finding out with goals you have beaten and wich ones you have not. it also displays which levels you have obtained all dragon coins in, which is extemely usefull, if your like me and want to feel special and get them all. overall, this is probably, well at least in my opinion, the best mario game ever created, and arguably, the best game ever created, so if you have the cash, and whether you've played it before or not, pick it up. Sound The games one bad point.Fist off , they have added in voice samples for mario and luigi, and annoying growls for some of the bosses. the voices are annoying at first, but you will hardly notice them after a while. Second off, the nice beat that gets added to the music when you team up with yoshi, which was done on bongro drums, well the bongo drums sound like they have been replaced with tin cans, but overall it isnt that noticable. Lots of general sounds in the game have been changed, for example when you sump on the football/ baseball, sports guys, the noise is much girly than before, and when you do the zoom woosh thing with the cape, it sounds like it needs oiling. And the bonus rounds where you have to hit the blocks that have things inside, and if you get them in the right over you get a life. But pretty much its the super nintendo game, that needs a little tuning and oiling. Gameplay Wow. thats the only word i can sue to describe it. Wow. Ok so you are small mario from the beggining, then you can unluck mushrooms and other power ups that will make you more powerfull. Suck as the fireflower and the cape, and of coarse, well although not really a power up, yoshi.what made the game so great to me was the flying cape, and the flying yoshi, simply a joy to fly. Fist off, the flying cape alows you to run, then jump and fly around, you can simply fly up, then come down. Fly up and then do a smashind hit on the ground, knocking out any near-by koopas. And of coarse, my favorite flying stunt, you can fly up, then open your cape for a nice gentle glide. and you can do that for as long as you want. The other way to fly is use either a blue koopa shell of have a blue yoshi. when you grab one, yoshi will sprout wings, and you will be able to fly him until he swallows the shell. And there are wings in some levels hidden in (?) boxes, witch allow you to warp with yoshi. You will then be in a area where you have yoshi wings for the whole stage, and you fly around to the exit. overall the cape is a more fun way to fly, but with yoshi, its easier to collect the coins and stuff, and is overall more practicall way of flight. the underwater levels can be somewhat tedius, as it take a long time to swim a short distance unless you are holding something which will help increase your speed. The are certain levels where you will have to use a (P) ballon, to make mario fat, which will alow him to flaot around. This, for the most part , is pretty simple, and easy to controll. But there is one level called "tubular" which you will have to use them to float around, This is by far the most frustrating level in the whole entire game, if you can beet it on the first try, ill buy you a soda. On the most part though, the gameplay is very cool, and will make you want to play the game over an over again. Would you like to Comment?
