Sound

I have to give this great game a "4" for sound. The sound is not bad, but gets boring after a while. Perhaps variations on engine sounds? Also, tire screeching is too soft, so it's hard to tell when your are going to lose traction. Also the cheering couds are very generic. There is no music during driving as this a SIM. I doubt F1 cars had radios.

Gameplay

This is a SIM, as in simulation. The driving physics are very realistic, especially when you venture into the game's simulation mode. I'm waiting for a decent wheel for the gamecube, as the control pad controls are a bit sensitive. Touch the grass by just a pixel and you are counted out in the training module. All the FIA rules can apply here, and you can race the whole season and every lap of every track in it. Then there is pit and race strategy. WOW! Let's just say, you cannot finish this game in one sitting. Let's not even try!

Sound

Sound is excellent. Most cube games have excellent sound. So they would have to try to mess this one up. Good thing they didnt. Typical F1 game, the car sounds great, especially from the in car view. After that, the norm...surrounding cars making that infamous F1 sound. You pit guy comes through great. The sound in the rain is done well. Again, RACING SIM. No music, etc, just the car(s) and you pit guys. THe fans do appreciate a good pass as well!

Gameplay

Again, being a racing SIM, you must do a number of things. Mastering the tracks, the variable weather, tire selection(hard or soft, rain or dry, pit strategy(1, 2 or 3 stops) are all a part of being able to run at the front. The behind the helmet view when it rains is outstanding. Beads of water hit you visor and run off from the wind. Attention to detail was not left out. Things like hands moving on the paddle shifter when you shift gears. All the F1 rules can be implemented if you are man enough. I am, but sometimes they catch you speeding in a yellow section and you didnt get a chance to slow down. Other than that, the rules are enforced just like on Sunday. The communication from your pits keeps up with the action almost dead on. You also get a very good sense of speed of the cars. The track layouts are just about perfect. All the details are there. Monaco, well, monaco is monaco. Great detail and cool race, but I hate running there. The rest of the tracks are fantastic. If you watch F1, you will know a lot of them already. If you get interactive with your pit stops, and try to not slow down as much, your fuel man will get the nozzle stuck in the car for a few extra precious seconds. This game has about everything you could want from a sim.
REMEMBER, IT IS A SIM.
