Sound

the sound is also very good in the game. you can hear the grass rusleing the birds singing it makes for a peaceful environment (dang i am out of root beer) without a bunch of dinosaurs attacking you. this game is well worth it.^_^

Gameplay

the gameplay in this game is good. if you have played the 3-d Zelda games you are in good hands, if not it is still easy to get down. 90% of the time you are on foot the rest of the time you are in your arwing. the arwing play is the same as the 64 but with better graphics. while on foot you run around through diverse environments doing diverse things like fighting t-rex foot soldiers or saving something. although they are limited the boss battles are fun. some of the puzzles are challenging but if you ever get stuck just talk to the frog (2nd game i reviewed that had something to do with a frog, Sonic DX).

Sound

While the musical score in SFA is not orchestral, there's a variety of suitable tunes and rythyms. My favourite so far is the battle theme when fighting Galdon, the huge evil reptillian boss thing. The music is fast-paced, and makes you think of the words 'uptight' and 'antsy'. This is quite suitable, as you have to stay alert when Galdon shoots flaming rocks at you from above. An excellent effort for the sound section of the game, rare.

Gameplay

Well, this is one of the games where the scenery is constantly changing, so you can't JUST put down the controller and say, "OK, three hours is unhealthily long to have played, I might go for a walk." You think to yourself, "I can't beat the game in three lousy hours, I gotta go for nineteen!" And so, you're stuck there. The gameplay is fun, challenging and very unique. Many people will find somewhere that gameplay and controls are similar to zelda 64 in many ways, but this is hardly a minus for the game. It's still one great action/adventure.

Summary

I was very impressed with this game. The story it follows is unique since it isn't the same old fly around and shoot stuff like the last Star Fox games. This is a true adventure game. The graphics are very impressive. You can see Fox McCloud's fur waving in the wind. The water effects are also very realistic with reflections, ripple effects and such. The music and sound effects are brilliant and help immerse you into the game. Oh yeah, can't forget that Foxy Fox Krystal, wow... Anyway, all the old characters are there. If you're a fan of Star Fox, you might be disappointed. There are short intervals of flying around and shooting stuff, but the game is mainly a 3-D plat former. It plays a lot like the Legend of Zelda. If you're a Zelda fan, you'll love this. In Star Fox Adventures you play with the story, not for the story. What's really cool is all the characters speak to you, so you don't have to read subtitles all the time. There wasn't any bad acting for character voices either.
There are a couple things about the game, however, that I didn't enjoy. One of these things is the method for accessing items in the game. I get tired of having to search through an assorted list of items every time I want to do something. There is one button I can store any item of my choice for quick access, but still, only one storage button? If only there were more buttons on the Game Cube controller. The other thing I wasn't impressed with was the fighting action. The only button you use to attack enemies with is 'A'. By moving the control stick around in random positions and pressing 'A' you unlock different combo moves, but I don't have very good control over the battles with enemies. Everything is pretty much automated when you fight with enemies. Every time you sweep past an enemy, Fox automatically locks onto it and you circle around the enemy while you fight.
Aside from the slow method of gaining access to items and the fighting, this game is pretty good. I give it 4.5 out of 5 for great music, sound effects, story, graphics, and character interaction. Oh yeah, the cute character Krystal also made this a fantastic game to play.

Sound

I have to say the soundtrack is also pretty good. The battle music is pretty tribal and driving, which is appropriate. Dinosaur Planet has a tranquil, peaceful theme, and even the opening theme is pretty good.

And the voice acting... Ahh, the voice acting... man, is it bad. Fox is the only voice I can tolerate in the game. Remember the annoying sidekick I was mentioning earlier? Well, part of your quest is to bring "Prince" Tricky, a triceratops-looking youngster, back to the village in one piece. Truth be told, he's more of a dog than anything. And he's REALLY annoying. "Dum-de-duuuuuuuuum", "I'm huuuuuuuungryyyyyyy", "HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEY! WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAIT FOR MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!", and many other wonderfully ear-piercing quotes can be yours if you chose to play this game. One of the options in controlling Tricky (other than "Dig") is "Stay Here". Too bad he can't stay away forever.

Gameplay

If you are expecting a classic shooter ala the other Starfoxs, you will be sorely disappointed. There's VERY little flying in this game. If anything, this game is more like the Nintendo 64 classic "The Legend of Zelda: The Ocarina of Time". In fact, it rips off Zelda so much that if I were Shigeru Miyamoto (creator of the Zelda series), I'd be at Rare's doorstep with a court summons and a baseball bat.

Seriously, go play the two titles side-by-side and you can see the glaring similarities: Fox McLink's, er, McCloud's fighting animations, the constant use of bombs, the annoying sidekick (more on that later)... it's all here.

But Zelda, at least, had charm. Zelda had secrets. Zelda had a plot that hooked you from beginning to end. Zelda gripped you and never let go.

Starfox Adventures is too straightforward with a simple plot, hardly any secrets (oh boy, well coins... YAY), no challenge, and not enough incentive for the average (or hardcore, for that matter) gamer to press on.

Summary

Well I have to say the this was one of the best games I've tried for Gamecube, one of my favorites!I always liked starfox, but never imagined to play an adventure game with fox in it!The game is pretty good, but I would have wished that it would have been longer, with more levels, secret weapons, mini games, costumes for Fox etc.It was similar to Zelda Ocarina of time in gameplay but it lacked the charm and the ability to mess around and do things not exactly to do with your main task!Andross surprised me at the end tough, lol!I would like to have another starfox Adventure game for Gamecube, but a bit more Zelda like. One more thing:I dont know what's up with Tricky, when he suddenly dissapears ans reappears once you cleared some hard terrain! And then in the Volcano temple you have to help him cross a pool of lava?

Summary

I have never waited this long for a game to be released in my entire life! But was it really worth the wait? The answer: yes. This game has a few obvious flaws, but for the most part, it is great! It is the longest game for Gamecube, although the promised 60-80 hours of gameplay was a total lie; I beat it in about 30 hours total. I also WAS NOT using a guide or asking friends for help. The bosses are pretty darn cool, but there isn't enough of them. Two of them aren't even REAL battles( flying ship & sharpclaws on gliders). Basically, there are only four real boss battles. The gameplay is really fun, except, there is way too much walking in the game. My smallest complaint would be the annoying cutscene shown every time you find a new item. My biggest complaints are the drops in framerate and the repetitive objectives. But really, this game is great!!!

Summary

I reserved this game 3 months before it came out because it looked totaly alsome. I was very dissapointed. You start off the game as crystal and you are on a terridactal. You are fighting this flying ship. What happens is the general scales is taking over dinousar planet. Crystal loses her staff and later in the game fox gets it. I didnt get much farther then that because this game was very boring. All you do is walk around looking for whatever it tells you to look for. The only weapon you have is a staff. If you leave dinausaur planet you have to go in your ship and go through rings to get back. That part is very idiotic the way rareware did it. The only game that Rareware ever made that was good was Donkey kong country 1. If I were you I would buy a differant game then this one for fifty bucks. Well maybe if you are a diehard fan of starfox then maybe you will like it. I liked the starfox on the snes but I hated the one on the n64. The only bad guys you fight are these aligator looking dudes that if you hit two times with your staff they die. There is also a store were you can buy stuff that you need like maps or lanterns etc. The money you have are bugs that run away when you find them.

Sound

The sound is way dumb. The background music gets very boring. When the people talk they sound very dumb. The sound is a major flaw in this game.

Gameplay

The gameplay is ok but could be better. The controls are pretty easy but I hate the fact that you cant jump. Later in the game you get fireballs you can shoot out of your staff but everytime you want to use it you have to click C and click over untill you find it then click A then aim at your target and then you can shoot. But you only have a couple shots then you have to find more bullets. It is hard when you are trying to get on a cliff you have to walk right up to it until he climbs because he cant jump. This game would be alot easier if he could jump because he could get on to cliffs easier. The game gets boring after an hour of play. The game is especially boring when you are crystal at the begining of the game.

Sound

The sound is also fantastic. From the occasional grunt to the characters' speech, the sound has no flaws. Rare has worked very hard in this department. At least 90% of the time a character will speak to you the speech is actually heard. Rare even included a native language that was created by them and sounds very authentic as it does follow an actual code. The sound goes above and beyond anything ever heard in a videogame.

Gameplay

The gameplay is nice. There are quite a number of opportunities to fly the Arwing even though they hardly last a minute. The puzzles are unique and they truly vary throughout the game. You have Tricky, a small dinosaur, as your companion while you collect upgrades for your staff and plenty of other items along the way. The gameplay does more than enough to get the job done.

Summary

Weve been waiting a while for this one havent we? Delay upon delay , first for the N64, and now the gamecube.
But its here, in all its glory as it seems.
As you most probably know, this is Rares last ever Nintendo game ( For the forseeable future at least - dont forget, the same was said about Square, but they managed to find there way back !)
Anyway, back to the point - Its here ... and it rocks....... Read on....

This is Rares first computer game for quite a while, and youll instantly recognise the simalarities between this and Other Rare titles.
The graphics are absolutely bloody superb(More on these later) and, god, how many times do i have to say this word ? - Pretty damn Rare !
You play Fox M'Cloud - international super hero and Lylat system Pilot, more suited to Arwings than bounding about on foot .
But in this game, strangely, thats exactly what you do - zelda style.
From the opening sequence you'll be hooked - i guarantee that , Youll be mezmerised by the greatness of it, but then things take a turn for the worst .... The first 2 Hours or so are extremely boring.
Very slow - not much proper fighting to get involved with - too much exploration- not enough action - all you get to do is marvel on the graphics (Like i said , more on that later.)

So why bother buying it then ? If its 'Boring ?' Well play a but deeper and youll understand, as the storyline picks up the pace and you get involved and begin having excellent battles and solving cool puzzles.
Its worth getting into, cause it really does start getting good. A bit like Eternal Darkness, i suppose - slow to start off with , but it certainly rewards you if you keep playing.

When i first saw the screenshots of Star fox adventures, i pictured lush open fields , swaying trees, landscapes that stretch as far as the eye can see - every inch of a whole unique world explorable ( It had been in development for about 3 years !)and hundreds of different dinosaurs to interact with - pretty much a free roaming adventure game where you go whereever you like.
Tahts what we were made to believe.
Out of all those things i listed, only one of them is true - The swaying trees - the others are just dreams that we wish Rare would of taken into consideration.
Dont be fooled onto thinking that this is a huge epic game - its not - it has small locations to explore (similar to Jak and Daxters hubs)- and lots of them as well - but its not quite epic.
It a fairly difficult game, but not big my any means.
I was dissapointed with the finished product for quite a few reasons, actually, one of them being the fact that there are hardly any different types of dinosaurs to interact with.
After all, this is called DINOSAUR PLANET .
More like A PLANET WITH A FEW DIFFERENT TYPES OF DINOSAURS ON IT. Maybe they were gonna use that one but it was just too long .Who knows.
Any way, like picasso once said ' You should never pick holes in a masterpiece So thats why im going to stop dissing it and tell you the good parts.

The story is good ( I wont bother explaining it all) The bosses are awsome, and are genuine Rare creations, and every location you visit oozes class.
Dull exploration parts are split up by cool first person modes, and you even get to pilot your arwing on some levels.

This is definelty GameCubes best Adventure game so far-infact, probably the best next gen adventure game ever.
It is heavily influenced by all of Rares other games ( Which is why it is probably so good) and has defineltly had some lessons from Zelda.
Is it as good as Zelda, though ?
Maybe ...............
