Summary

This is a great fighting game. It's almost better than Virtua Fighter. That takes a lot. But, it is still a good game.

Sound

Great.

Gameplay

Easy to learn. Kasumi is my fav. And to make things interesting, you can even knock people off buildings into neon signs. That is too raw.

Summary

This very solid game. The best fighting game I've ever played as far as graphics and moves go, and I've been playing since SNES. There's a small amount of plot for each of the characters (I believe there are 17 total), but this game mainly shines as a party game. It includes options like coming in kicking spinning, etc in tag mode. This game's multi-player rivals HALO, something I can't say of many games. For the single player value, this game is probably worth the money, but you could get better games for the same price (Splinter Cell, for example). What makes this game is that it has one of the best multiplayer's I've ever seen. And its not a button masher, as many people across the web have called it. The game requires a knowledge of what your characters strengths are (speed/power, kick/punch/grab/counter).

Sound

One of the weaker portions of the game. The soundtrack is a variety of techno loops with a rock flavor, with a few Aerosmith songs thrown in. The first is perfectly acceptable, the second is not. I like classic rock, but not as a backdrop in a fighting game. Luckily, everyone knows you don't hear the music much when you're busy bantering with three of your friends over who pulled of the hottest combo in the last round.

Gameplay

Killer. 17 characters with about 40-70 moves each. Even a simple kick or punch look different with each character, and each also has 10-20 moves that not only look different from any other character in the game. Many chracaters also have different fighter modes, such as a lower stance, lying on the ground, or in handstand position. Each character also has several taunt moves. There's really too many features to describe in this game.

Summary

I this game because it has so many fighting techniques as well as styles. This is a game that you would need to practice for hours and hours to become a qualified fighter in the game. I would recommend this game to all of you fighting gamers out there. This game would match up to any Camcom game, and if not better.

Sound

The sounds were typically wham, bam, and smack from typical sound effects. Other sound effects are from character voices that were recorded of course. This game's dialouge is in japanese, of course, that's how the other Dead or Alives were made, so we'll just leave it at that.

Gameplay

The gameplay is very smooth. Though, you need to have a gamers thumb to get the combos, grabs, and counters. Overall, it's basically kick butt and win.

Summary

Anyone who considers DOA to be the best fighter can have their logic derailed by one simple word: Omega. I'm giving this a 1/5 for the simple reason that any game that creates the uber-stupid character of Genra/Omega deserves it. This insipidly lame character single-handedly destroys the story mode because you dread the stupidity that it is to fight him. All of his moves are "cheat" moves requiring no skill or talent. If he had one, he would be considered broken, and he has seven or eight that he cycles through stupidly. And, it requires simple luck to beat him; no skill. Just get through his stupid ranged attacks and mash punch until he dies. HOW COOL!!!! I bought this game as a platinum hit, but it still cost me $50. Why? Because of the controller I broke out of frustration over the sheer stupidity that is Omega. Otherwise, this game is fine for multiplayer. I wouldn't consider it as deep a game as Tekken, Soul Calibur, or Virtua Fighter, but it easily the best looking game if that matters to you. Without Omega, this game is 4/5. Yes, he's THAT lame.

Summary

I should start this review by saying that DOA2: Hardcore was my favorite fighter on PS2. DOA2 and VF4 were very close in terms of quality. VF4 had a more scientific fighting system and better unlockables, While DOA2 had cooler stages and a higher “cheesecake” factor.

DOA3 is a very good fighting game, no doubt about it. The control scheme has evolved incrementally to offer better control. The graphics have obviously improved a fair bit. But the single player experience has actually taken a step backwards, which is disappointing. Gone are the 60+ unlockable costumes. This transforms DOA3 from what could have been a revolutionary fighting game into a very good "close but no cigar"

I'm sure Tecmo isn't listening, but here's my wish list for DOA4:

-Costume customization a la VF4
-unlockable arenas (maybe the best of previous games?
-visible damage/wounding on characters
-unlockable art or movies (to create incentive)

Sound

The music is not as good as DOA2, which had really cool J-rockers Bomb Factory. Sorry Aerosmith, you’re past your prime. All voices are in Japanese, which I don’t know if it’s a good or bad thing.

Gameplay

This is where DOA3 falters just a little bit. Faced with the competition of VF4’s Kumite mode, Soul Calibur’s Mission mode and MK’s Krypt, DOA3 feels very shallow as a single player game. I obtained the extra costume pack from the magazine, which was nice, but this is still not even half of the unlockable goodies that DOA2:Hardcore featured. DOA3 also lacks the art gallery.

In some of the modes, there are very good ideas that would have tied in perfectly to an unlockable content scheme. The prizes in Survival mode would have been a perfect way to trade for unlockable content such as new fighters, new arenas, new costumes.

Another thing that could have stood improvement is the cheap end-boss phenomenon. Omega is even cheaper than Tengu! Equiping a boss with a Darth Maul sword and a bunch of distance attacks is not the way to create challenge – it’s the way to create annoyance.

Basically, DOA3’s gameplay is a carbon copy of DOA2’s, without the unlockable costumes, with ending movies, and with slightly better control. This shallow single player experience forced me to dock this otherwise excellent game a point in overall and gameplay ratings.

On the good side:

The control scheme has slightly improved, making it easier to jump and move in 3D without confusion. With the controller S, control is at least as good as a dual shock or dreamcast pad.

The new fighters, Brad Wong, Christie and Hitomi, are very cool. Granted, Brad’s drunken style seems like a so-so copy of VF4’s Shun Di, but it’s still nice nonetheless. All three combine to add more strategy and variety to DOA’s roster of fighters.

VS. mode is basically the meat of the title, given the lack of single player content. And, as always, DOA3 offers a lot of fun for two players, without the steep learning curve of VF4. A very good party game.

Sound

The sound was great. I liked the music and the character's voices were good. The only problem I had with the sound was the player's speaking in Japanese with English text. They should have had the characters speaking English.

Overall I definately recommend this game. Not everyone may like it but it is worth a rental.

Gameplay

The controls were smooth and very easy to learn. You're obviously not going to learn every move for every fighter as that would take a lifetime, but it's an easy game to just pick up and play. However I would say this game is definately a button masher. When I played my friend he kept hitting the same buttons over and over to beat me. I thought every mode was really fun. My friends and I especially liked the tag battles. Story mode was really fun, but my favorite was survivol mode. It doesn't take long to beat in story mode, but if you put it on the hardest difficulty setting it won't be a piece of cake.

Sound

The sound Is OK. Every Sound the Character's Make are very Nice. The only bad thing about the sound is that the people talk in japanise language. The music Is OK as well, The aerosmith tunes Are Pretty GOOD!
The sound For DOA3 Is OK.

Gameplay

The gameplay is Not that GOOD!
DOA3 is not very fun and it gets boring after about 2 fights with a friend. Story mode is OK but it gets boring after you beat the game about 20 TIMES! The game is very easy and none of it is hard, Even the final Boss is not HARD! If you beat the game, You get Theature Mode. why was theature mode invented, what will make you watch video's On a Lame Fighting GAME! You know that rule with game's that have sequel's And that the next one is always better, that rule is FAKE with The DOA Series because this game sucks like CRAP! As I said the gameplay in DOA3 SUCKS!

Sound

What truly amazed me was when I was in a level where there were torches lit and I could hear them from a distance and as I was getting closer. All the little things going on in the background make sound. But the only reason I didn't give the sound a perfect score is because I find myself turning down the music because it is SOOOO annoying.

Gameplay

Hands down, this is probably the quickest fighting game I've ever played. The controls are easy to use and are great for the 'button mashers'. But with more than 75 moves for each character, it can take some time to master. I really like the counter attack moves...they give the game sort of an edge.

All I can say is that this game NEEDS a better A.I. . I beat this game with all the characters on VERY HARD within 2 hours while button mashing most of the time. I feel that the single player modes are unchallenging (except for survival mode). Also, there aren't many things to unlock except for ONE new fighter, a few costumes and cinematics. I wish it had a mission mode like Soul Caliber did.

The true test came when I tried to play this game with a friend who is also a Soul Caliber fan. While we both agree that the interactive environments are pretty cool, we felt that there could have been a few thing that could have been added to the game. For example: when you are knocked down, you can't roll around (like in Soul Caliber) to avoid getting hit. But the quickness and counter-attack moves make this game just a little different (not necessarily better).

If you don't have a friend to play this game with, then it has no replay value at all.

Sound

It's pretty same ol' fighting game sounds. I dont think that there is anything you can improve here anyway. Let's just say it gets the job down as well as the next fighting game. and music, well DOA3 is lacking, i think the very first DOA had the best music. maybe they can fix this problem in DOAX.

*&* side note *&*
the breast are great (dammit, I went "there"!)...

Gameplay

Since the first DOA I have been a big fan (not obsessed, but a fan). I love that this game if both for the hardcore fighter and the button smasher alike. I also like that there are more women than men in this title (I told you im not going "there"). A side note that gets left from the usual babbling of DOA is the interactiveness between the fighters and the envirement. Take the snow for example; as you walk the snow leaves actual prints of where you fall and walk. The trees in the forrest level are awesome, and who can pass up kicking someone off a cliff? (I would pass it up for one look at ... wait, i forgot im not going .. "there")

Sound

It is just right, nothing over the top or wimpy, characters make sounds when they are punched or thrown over a ledge, the girls sound very squeeky though. The speaking is in Japanese but dubbed in English. The music by Aerosmith is fast paced and cool. The sound is just right. No complaints.

Gameplay

DoA3 has many moves for you to learn, and each character has thier own set. The controls may get you beat up the first few rounds, but when you learn them well you'll be getting reveange on the ones who beat you. The story did not make much sense though, oh well, it still does not take away from the fun. Multiplayer is awesome in this game, you go tag team against your friends or face them one on one. There are also other modes to mess aroung with too, like watch mode where you can pit characters in a match and watch them fight, quite a graphical show. It was fun putting all chicks in the battle. Try it.

Summary

WOW, I SAW A BOUNCING BOOB, IT MADE MY DAY!!!

Wish it was so. The game has stunning graphics, and the moves are just enormous! But where did the fun of achieving stuff, getting new characters, lots of costumes, go?
You can actually cruise through this game with no difficulty at all, and when you are done you'll ask yourself WHATS UP NEXT, DOC? It isn't getting any better when you realize that you can't unlock anything, except end-movies for every dude. There is actually nothing in reward, making you want to ever play the game again with that character.

Multiplayer is OK, i kick your but, you kick my butt, let's do it all again! Co-op is cool!
Get that washed out, babysize thumbs up again :)

Go rent it, or borrow, or st*al it for all i care, or get ready to sell it afterwards (in a day or two) for half the prize. Replayvalue is ZERO !

Sound

Ok, why do every fighting-game have to SHOUT JAPANESE INTO MY EARS WHEN THEY FINALLY SAY SOMETHING? I swear, there is not a single english word in there, and i bet the producers had hoped for no english text also...

The SMACK'S and BAM'S are all there, the music is ok also. If i was fighting, would half of me be standing listening for music?? Sounds are good :)

Gameplay

GREAT MOVES! Just perfect! But are moves all, i don't think so. The difficulty is weird, i could play through this game with both arms tied at my back, holding the controller with my feet, and some fat lady smacking me up. But why should I? I mean, when you first have ended it on lets say normal difficulty, why the he*l should you want to go through it all again, knowing that this time you'll certainly not get anything in reward?

That you can kick your opponent through walls, down ceilings, and through ice is cool! It was cool on DOA2, but it should have stayed there, or at least improved. I mean, there are VERY few levels to choose between, and the levels are bound to either TAG or Single-fighter. You can't unlock any levels either. Boring.

There are lots of combos, and i especially enjoy the counter combos!! It is easy to perform, and fun to watch. Thumbs up! But there should have been more buttons, and options. It gets boring with one punch, one kick, and one grab button.

Anyway, there should be more unlocking, didn't need to be much...

Summary

Hey I've been flirting with getting this game Ever since I seen there commericals for she kicks high The game has nice visuals if you actually stare at them no jaggies at all it's like a whole nother world like they've created a land where kicking your oppennet to the ground or throw them off a hill or kick em into a glass window and watch em fall to there death. The characters all are unique and usally what all fighters have the grappler, the cheesy bruce lee clone, female ninja the cool guy. There's 9 modes which are Tag battle,Theater(is unlocked when you beat story mode) where you can see the ending for each character.Time battle,Story mode,Sparring(practice),Survival,Team battle, watch mode, It's all in there. They have nice replys It nice looking at you kicks someones butt when your stressed this could help.

Sound

Lots of grunts and squeak noises from the female characters it's all in japense with dubbing on the bottom of the screen sometimes it sounds like there speaking spanish like hitomi. and the hits to the ground you feel on your controller and hear the booming sound as the screen shakes simpley great get this game if you havent already

Gameplay

This is contained with trying to outsmart your oppenet by doing a series of combos, throws, holds and counter attacks they even have taunts which are nice to make your oppenet completly pissed if there losing I only play by myself so I dont know anything about the vs mode Most of the characters have there weakness and strenghts how you use them is the key to beating this game which is fun finding and trying to try diffrent ways to outsmart the computer which gives me quiet a challenge
