Summary Ok, first for all the N64 fans out there, I like the 64 but I sold it for the PSX. For one, the ps has a majority of games that the 64 couldnt even offer. Games like Parasite Eve, Medieval,Resident Evil ( i know, gamecube now has that one), not to mention all of the rpg games that just rock. I personally think that the psx has surpassed my expectations, as far as the controller is concerned, I personally find that the psx controller is more user friendly than the 64 controller.Sound sound quality is great, no complaints there.Gameplay Gameplay, come on we are talking cd quality here. I know with the 64, if the cartridge got dirty or dusty, there went your game, with the psx, all you do is simply wipe it off. some of the games do not have good graphics at all, but on the whole, the gameplay far surpasses the 64 or anyother system that was made at that time.Would you like to Comment? Summary This is not the best system ever made but it is pretty good if you are looking for a cheap console with a great library of games go with this or Sega's Dreamcast (personally I prefer the DC). With this console you will get access to great titles such as: Driver, the Final Fantasy series, Driver 2, the Tomb Raider series, Breath of Fire III and IV, the Twisted Metal series, and other great games all which you can probably find at one time or another in your local used video game store. Of course with every console there are the occasional crap games with this console there are alot of really crappy games: lot's of Barbie, lots of Olsen Twins, lots of Sesame Street (especially Elmo), and other Kindergarten favorites.Sound Sound on games like Final Fantasy VII, VIII, and IX will blow you away with wonderfully composed scores. And by the way...........HAPPY GAMING!!!!!Gameplay Gameplay is something you have to give this little trooper it was the first console that allowed you to take it on the road. I think that alone is worth it. With great games like I listed above you will be provided with 1000's of hours of gameplay easily. Also if you are an RPG fanatic like me, this is definitely your system with the FF games,Dragon Warrior games, and the Breath Of Fire games alone will keep you on your toes for a few months at least. Summary The playstation is the best system ever.There are hundreds of titles and most of them are good.First,the gameplay is excellent.There are such a variety in the games that fans of any type of game should find something they like.some titles worth getting are:Tony Hawks Pro Skater 2,King of fighters 99,Tekken 3,Legacy of kain Soul Reaver,Mortal Kombat Trilogy,Grand Tourismo 2,Medal of honor,time crisis project titan,syphon filter,and many more.Now the worst point of the system-the graphics.They are,in my mind, better than the N64 because they aren't fuzzy and have awesome FMVs,but they're not breathtaking.The best graphics the system is capable of are used in Metal Gear Solid.The sound is great.Perfect CD quality.Overall this is a great system to own if the graphics don't bother you.Sound see summaryGameplay see summaryWould you like to Comment? Summary The big brother of the mighty PS2 system. Though the system may look obselete right now, I still enjoy playing my Playstation. Since I have bought new PS2 recently, this little system still existed in my house. I will never sell or give it away to people.However, as the PS2 is backward-compatible with PS1, I dont really need the PSX anymore. Thus it becomes my collection in my library of games and consoles. I want people to know that I love playing video games and I own many systems! Sound The CD-Quality Sound. That is great.!!!Gameplay The gameplay is great. Haaaaah! Have you tried MGS? Show me one system who was so "alive" after almost six years. I think this system still worth the money, and I'm not just saying that. If you have 100 bucks to spend on a console I'd say get the Dreamcast, but if not, get PSone. Don't notice the bad reviews from N64 fanatics. N64 is a nice system but PSX is better. If you want to compare you'll find a well compared reasons on the other places. There's absolutely no reason why you shouldn't have this system. It's classic. The graphics are OK on a good TV, the sound is cool, the lasting appeal is infinite, and the replay value is spectecullar. if you are considering to buy this system, I can say - Buy it. you can't find systems like this one every day.Sound CD quality sound, will keep you satisfied. games like Tony hawk pro skater, spiderman and Gran turismo 2 have a magnificent sound track.Gameplay Gameplay is really great. Very comfortable. I can't understand the mass about the N64 controller. it's so uncomfortable. About the games, you'll find a huge vriety of games for PSX, and many "must haves". if comparing to Nintendo's, not only that sony made a replacement for every nintendo game, some even surpasses it.If you say Mario, Crash Bandicoot will immediately pop up, which is a brilliant old school platformer. If you'll say Donkey Kong, you'll find spyro in this position. Say Zelda, and you get Final Fantasy serires and chrono cross. say Mario Kart, you'll find Crash team racing (which is even better!), say WWF No mercy, you'll get Smackdown 2, etc. The PSX has a huge variety of good sports, action and racing games, and a good variety of RPG's. This system is just flawlwss. and about those who complain about the accesories, there's no place for complaint. 2 controllers and a memory card is not such a big investment, and it's also recommended to buy gun con or a steering wheel. The controller's design is near-horrid and the machine itself lacks any real design flare.Sound Sony's sound studios must have really been working day and night very hard, because the PSX's sound is ground-shattering top-notch.Gameplay The controller broke the mold for all controllers, but that's not necessarily a good thing. The buttons are X, triangle, square, and circle. Something good? No, it's not. It's hard to keep track of what button's what without looking down at the controller. But the majority of games, on the other hand, are slightly better. But many lack any real replay value (which is a shame). Summary Overall the PlayStation is a great system. It has some of the best games ever created like Metal Gear Solid and Final Fantasy 7. It is way better than the N64. Maybe the graphics aren't quite as good but everything else is 5x beter.Sound Oh my gosh!!! Sound rocks even today! It is way better than the N64's sound. Cartridges can't hold crap for sound. The sound on PSX is clear and the sound on the N64 is all muffled (especially WrestleMania 2000). The sound is GGGGGRRRRREEEEAAAAAATTTT!!!!Gameplay The controller is very comfortable and is easy to use. There alot of good games on the PSX, and even though the system is dying, there are still some good ones coming out (THPS3!!!). Summary For a system that is five years old this is truly a tremendously awesome system. Of course Dreamcast has better graphics than Playstation but Playstation 2 has better Graphics than Dreamcast doesnt it? Thats the point, graphics definitely help the system don't get me wrong but games are what really make a system. Playstation 2 got all the hype before it came out until people realized what good games are there to play on this system. Dreamcast has many quality games and that is why i believe it will remain popular for many years to come. But playstation has something Playstation 2 and Dreamcast both lack Quality Games and a humongous Quantity of games to choose from. Basically what i'm trying to say is that games are what really make a video game system and playstation definitely has that.Sound As far as sound goes comparing Playstation sound and Nintendo 64's sound is like Playstation is the DVD player's sound and nintendo 64 is the VCR's sound. Basically what i'm trying to say is the sound on the playstation is 2 times better than the sound on nintendo 64. Maybe this has to do with the more advanced technology of disc's that playstation has unlike Nintendo 64's cartridges??????????Gameplay Playstation has excellent gameplay. The n64 is ok the only thing that is better is that the speed is a little faster. The playstation just takes a little while to load some stuff,not as long as your probably thinking. It is easier then n64 i hear all the time and i beleive it too. Games are pretty easy to control too. Summary OK OK OK. so I know it's not the newest shiniest system out there. look I played all the systems and now maybe I'm gonna get a brand new dreamcast.I've got the PS almost 3 years ago. The first game I rented was Quake 2. Me and my dad played it hours 'til we had to bring it back. Next I bought Crash bandicoot 2, still for my opinion one of the greatest arcade games ever. since then, I only played PS. PS is better than Nintendo 64. The N64 was available only 3 months after the PS. Altough the N64 has a bit better graphics, PS games are much better. People, forget for a moment the graphics.i find no problem to say that this system is still not to be forgotten, and if you're a bit short of money, take a little saving ( only 100 $ ) and buy THIS baby. Summary on oct. 26th 2000 i picked up my playsation 2 from software etc. a store where years earlier i picked up the playstation. a system that got in with the big boys (sega and nintendo), and beat the living hell out of them.i remember all the good times i had with my old friend: killing zombies on resident evil. being scared in the late hours of the night with silent hill. becoming a part of peoples lives in the final fantasy series. fighting a single, growing cell in parasite eve. and the most memorable of all, saving the world from a group of terrorists in metal gear solid. i remember laughing at characters in final fantasy picking on eachother, the horrible voice acting in the resident evil series, and the insanely funny you dont know jack. i remember crying when aeris dies in final fantasy 7 (i hope i didnt spoil that for anyone), and when meryl and sniper wolf were shot in metal gear solid. then there was the bad set of games : resident evil survivor, 5th element, twisted metal 3 the list goes on and on. now my good friend is being killed by its own younger brother. the playstion 2. but still this classic systems games can be played on ps2. so the ps is not forgotten. Sound sound was a almost always excellent. its sony for crying out loud. they specialize in sound equipment. the techno beat of parasite eve, the chilling resident evil music, and the epic final fantasy prelude.the playstation is not just a game system to me. the playstation is one of my best friends. a friend that has died. but one that will forever live on in my memories. Summary Well Sony, the fat lady has finished warming up and is stepping up to the microphone.After five years of great games, it's hard to overlook this great system.After finishing playing a game for a new system, then trying to play the PS can almost be a task.However, you just can't overlook some of the greats this system has had.Sure you may have your shiny new PS2 that you had to beat up somebody for , and scoff at any other system, but do you remember when you were scoffing at sleep thinking saving the world from a giant mech in Metal Gear Sollid was more important?Of course you do.Or how about when you were scaling the rooftops of Tenchu, contemplating on which guard would get his first?Or maybe it was creating the perfect athlete in those Excellent NFL Gamedays from 989, you have to remember something.The PSX is taking it's dying breaths after fighing the cancers called the DC and PS2, but it has gone out fighting.Before just going obsolete in fact, they let you have the much anticipated titles such as Tenchu 2,Medal Of Honor 2,Madden 2001, World is Not Enogugh, and several others.The PS has a great gaming library well into the hundreds, and have been making these great games for years.Sound Well this thing is also one of the first systems to double as a cd player, so that has to count for something.Just please listen to the gripping voice acting in MGS, unles you are a vegetable it will suck you right into the storyline.Or how about those screeching tires on Gran Turismo, and those beefy acceleration and awesome background music from Roadrash 3D.PS has seen some pretty darned impressive stuff here, and I believe the games for the PSX have some of the coolest soundtracks around.Fatal Fury Wild Ambition is worth the price just to listen to Kim Kapwhan's music for crap sake!It's awesome!You have to love this stuff folks.Gameplay Come on, MGS anyone?I am sure you have at least soiled your trousers once when you saw a zombie jumping out of nowhere in Resident Evil 2, and admit it, you cried when that red haired girl got sniped in Metal Gear Sollid.Sony had struck milestones in several categories.In wrestling which has now grown into a genre in and of its own,you had WWF Warzone and Attitude which struck new levels in the create-a-player department.The PSX has seen some of the best and most engrossing games of all time, and there are still a little trickle of games coming out now.This could be attributed to the fact that the PS One had some of the best third party support the world has ever seen.Or don't you think it's impressive that the PSX has outsold the Nintendo 64 despite the fact that the N64 is twice as powerfull?That's impressive.No, the Sony Playstation won't be around for much longer but like I've said it struck new ground in every category.Gameday 2000 was one of the best football games ever made,not to mention that crazy party game NFL Blitz.If Sony couldn't convert a game totally from an arcade, more superior system or PC, they gave it one heck of an effort, and still made the game enjoyable.I honestly can't see Sony ever re-capturing the glory days of the PS One, ever.Would you like to Comment? Summary The platform with some of the greatest games ever created.Sound The system is CD based and has good quality music and sound effects.Gameplay Playstation has a huge library of quality games such as Gran Turismo, Square RPGS, Sports games from EA and 989. The best thing about the playstation is there the availible titles covers a broad range of ages. There are many excellent titles for kids such as Spyro and Ape Escape. The greatest attribute of the Playstation is that this is the first system, unlike the N64, to have titles which are targeted towards older teens andadults. So to those people, please don't try to stick up for a system like this now when it's 5 yrs old. The Playstation's downfall is inevitable, so come to grips with it. If you wanted to get a Playstation and rave on about how Sony is the best then you should have done it 4 yrs ago when you had your chance. But the reign of the Playstation was over as soon as the N64 was released in my opinion. And now with the Sega Dreamcast out, and most of all, the Sony Playstation II, there is no question that the first little white box made by Sony is completely out of the picture in terms of gaming fun.Defenders of the Playstation will say it has soooo many games. And they will say that N64 sux because it has hardly any games and the Playstation has way more. Well of course Playstation has more games because it has obviously been out longer, has more third party support and and the games are CD's which makes them a hell of a lot cheaper and easier to make for the Sony. Well that is the actual problem in a way for Sony. The Playstation games are made as fast as rabbits make babies, and quite frankily I hate most of the games I've played on Playstation. They are bland, boring and look as if they have been slapped together in a few days. And how many games could one possibly want for any given console anyway? You are not going to get them all are you? Nobody I know has got more than 20 games for Sony Playstation or N64. I couldn't understand how anybody could want more than 10 of the best N64 games because they are high quality games that take so long to complete and play til you get bored of them. Whereas the Playstation, well you just hire a game for it, play it for a total of about an hour until you get sick of it and want to plop another game in, in the hope that it's decent...
