Summary

This game has a great storyline to follow and the music is in good quality. Though its not the funest game there is and the fighting can get repetitive pretty fast and weapons hp get chewed up pretty fast. This a game for the people who like good story.

Strength

The weapon system is awsome it may be a little complex but this is probably only what makes the game play any good. The story line is awsome you probably won't any better one than this. you can get the story line you pay some attention. The world rebuilding fun and you place some ones house in a corner. good musoc

Weakness

The weapon hp gets down too fast. The fighting gets boring. Fetching for the gate is not alot of fun.

Summary

For starters, whatever you people out there payed for this game, you're being over charged(Believe me I should Know). This had to be one of the worst RPG's ever made. What irritated me even more was how all the magazines gave this such great reviews when it was first released. Anyways I'll give the overall evaluation.

Sound

The soundtrack was slightly better than the gameplay, but not much. In the end it seemed like a poor imitation of Chrono Cross's soundtrack with some of the Celtic melodies. The game lacked voiceovers, but again this wouldn't have helped the game anyways. Also, it would have been a shame to waste good voice talents on such a shallow game.

Gameplay

The storyline(what there was of one) sucked. It was like someone scribbled a quick story onto a cocktail napkin and used it as the plot. The characters both playable and non-playable were dull to say the least. For example, the military officer that used the genie to destroy the world was very lame. Which brings me to my next point. Who the Hell!!! were some of these people? There was no purpose for most of these characters to be there except to just to take up space on the screen. The combat system was boring and tedious for the most part. Building your own weapons by combining 2 or more older weapons wouldn't be so bad, except most of the weapons break after only a few hits. This is the most irritating part of the game, especially when it sometimes takes hours just to level up one of your choice weapons. Last, the town building part got old after about two dungeons. The dungeons are randomly generated which is an interesting concept, but alas does little or nothing to boost the intrigue of the game

Summary

Basically, The whole story of the game is that there is this eveil guy..who looks a lot like Hitler (only skinnier), and he's trying to revive the "Dark Genie" with his little fat parter. So they summon all these evil people and tell them to dance in front of the Dark Genie's lamp until her comes out. When the Genie finally comes out, he reeks havoc and destroys your little town where you, Toan (you can change his name), live...and about 5 other towns as well. Everything and everyone exept you, the mayor, and this creepy wizard guy are put inside little spheres and put inside "dungeons" and then are guarded by evil monsters and such. The mayor gives you supplies such as bread, water, a dagger, and repair powder (that is used to fix your weapon). Now go into the dungeons and collect the spheres and bring the village back to it's normal state! When you gather all the parts you get to rebuild the town and place everything the way you want it. In the dungeons, along with the spheres, you also find treasure chests. And depending on their sizes, you get different items. When you're done rebuilding your town, head to the next, and the next..and so on~~!

Sound

The sound is x-tremely realistic. Like the first duel you have in Divine Beast Cave against that MasterJacket is cool! The cling-clang of swords smashing together, the woosh of flips and spins, and the sound of an opponent getting their head slashed off. The running is pretty good. But the combat with the cutting down bad guys and all, it doesn't sound like a sword slashing, more like your about to hawk a loogie. But it's worthy, so I'll give sound a 5/5.

Gameplay

This game is beyond Zelda. If Zelda fans got their grimey paws on this, they'd chuck Ocarina of Time out the window. Building villages gives you the idea of Roller Coaster Tycoon or Sim Theme Park. Making sure the villagers are happy, ect. But there are more meters to keep an eye on. If the Thirst Meter goes down to zip-o, you lose health slowly. What about the Weapon Meter (MOST CRUCIAL)? If your Weapon Meter goes to zero, your weapon breaks and disappears. Thank you Repair Powder!! If this makes you feel better, your first weapon doesn't disappear, so you can repair it any time.

Sound

The music match every part of the game well. From the side stories, to the towns, to the little incidents now and then. Very well thought out. Game didn't need voices, especially if you are an rpg player who gets so sucked into to the game you'd rather read it fast and hit the X button to keep going. Curious to find what will happen next.

Gameplay

The game play was solid. I never really got bored. One part of the game I did get stuck. Either I just wasn't thinking, thinking to hard or was looking past the obvious. But this game definitely has some parts of it that need to be planned out before you run in with swords a swingin' and guns blazin'. And so I don't ruin it, I won't say where it is or when, but there is a complete throw off from one part of the game to the next which caught me off guard. Also, building houses does take some patience and thought. Not in the boring or frustrating way. Just something to catch your interest. Oh, almost forgot. I almost cried everytime I broke my sword after I had it at level 10 or more and it was dicin' ppl at 200-700hp depending on who they were or if I was just pumped up. That was kind of cool though. Build up your weapons and not the ppl you have. Make the difficult raise up a little.

Sound

I loved it, to tell the truth. Every place seemed to have the right rhythm and tone for the setting. The sound effects all sounded right, and it never messed up my playing, because it was right under the action, where it would be heard, but not in the way.

I do have a problem with the voice acting though. Because there wasn't any! It was just like playing a Final Fantasy on the PS, and I didn't really like that. There were already N64 games that had people talking, and they couldn't spare an extra $40,000 to hire a few no-names to do the voices, it's not like it was a huge game with tons of memory to take up, and it's not hard to put the voices into the game.

Gameplay

The battles were a little slow compared to other action/RPGs, but they were much cooler than most. You could be surrounded by skeleton warriors, lock on to one, do a simple combo followed up with a Braver-like jumping move and just barely miss the horizontal swipe from a guy behind you. You take out the guy you were locked onto, turn around and repeat on the enemy behind you.

When you weren't in a Dungeon, though, everything still retained a good feeling. The days passed into night and back, and certain towns would close up shops and stuff, or maybe you could only catch a fish at night or at dawn or in the middle of the day or etc....

The most innovative feature of the entire game was the Georama engine. Build your own town, either the way you like it, or if you want something, the way that the townspeople like it. Of course, it was a little too simple for my tastes, something that I hear Dark Cloud 2 is working on. The hardest town was the last one, and anybody who's played it knows why.

Summary

This game is really awesome. The graphics are good, not stellar but good. The game play is fun. The characters are cool. Although I do like rpg's with more characters this one is just fine the way it is.

Best part of my review? If you like this game, you'll love:
Final Fantasy X (I can't stand the other ones, but the graphics on this one are stellar, absolutely amazing). The gameplay is just excellent, rent it and you'll want to buy it!

Chrono Cross (PS1): This game is completely ahead of it's time. It seems as if they were using PS2 graphics before it even came out. Really fun game. Takes a minute to get used to the types of magic you can use, they go into certain spots according to their power limit. You get way too many characters to ever really be able to play, but man did they put effort into this game. It's amazing, rent it!

Sound

Sound is fine as much as I could tell. Most of the time I turn the sound down and play my own cd!

Gameplay

Gameplay was good. At the end you have about 6 characters and you can only play them one at a time. Certain characters are needed to pass certain levels and that's ok. You can even switch during most battles so that works out.

The only other thing about the game is building the towns back up. You have to put the homes in a certain way. Some people you talk to will want to be facing a certain direction, or next to another home, so you have to kind of figure that out. At one point I just had to go online and get help, couldn't figure out how to build it correctly. The game is long enough and fun enough! You'll love it. Very much like Zelda without some of the redundant game play features.

Sound

I think the sound is very good. The weapons make cool sounds as they strike enemies. The music is more of a mood style where it changes depending on what scenario you're in. The music sounds similar to other rpg's I've played in the past but I don't find it to be boring at all.

Gameplay

The gameplay is good. At times it can be a little boring going through the same style of rooms all the time but the fact that the maps are randomly generated is a cool feature which means it adds some replay value. Gathering the Atla is easy enough and then when you get back out into the town you get to put together the town how you see fit. Making the towns is a lot of fun and you can take the advice of the townspeople and place their houses where they would like to try and get a special reward. Another great feature is the fishing in which you collect points that you can redeem for awesome rewards. Overall, gameplay is a total blast!

Sound

The sound isn't bad. The background music can get sorta boring. You hear sound when you hit a monster, defend, or just sigh.

I think you should buy this game.

Gameplay

The game play is great. I can tell you that you wont finish this game in one sitting. The Objective in this game is to let all the people, houses, and they're things. you have to put the people in they're houses, and put they're things in the houses. This can be interesting because you can set the houses however you heart desires. Every time you compete a house you get a item.

In this you dont level up your weapon does. you have to put attachments on your wep. and you can upgrade it, or status break it onto another weapon( by the way it takes 60% of that weapons skills and puts it onto a different weapon). you can make the best weapon this way. You will get more characters along your quest.
