Dark Cloud for PlayStation 2 Videos >>
Summary Dark Cloud is very unique. It has things that you'd never find in another RPG. The graphics are up-to-date, the gameplay kicks the crap out of Zelda, and the sound sounds like you are really there.Sound The sound is x-tremely realistic. Like the first duel you have in Divine Beast Cave against that MasterJacket is cool! The cling-clang of swords smashing together, the woosh of flips and spins, and the sound of an opponent getting their head slashed off. The running is pretty good. But the combat with the cutting down bad guys and all, it doesn't sound like a sword slashing, more like your about to hawk a loogie. But it's worthy, so I'll give sound a 5/5.Gameplay This game is beyond Zelda. If Zelda fans got their grimey paws on this, they'd chuck Ocarina of Time out the window. Building villages gives you the idea of Roller Coaster Tycoon or Sim Theme Park. Making sure the villagers are happy, ect. But there are more meters to keep an eye on. If the Thirst Meter goes down to zip-o, you lose health slowly. What about the Weapon Meter (MOST CRUCIAL)? If your Weapon Meter goes to zero, your weapon breaks and disappears. Thank you Repair Powder!! If this makes you feel better, your first weapon doesn't disappear, so you can repair it any time.Would you like to Comment? It’s basically use a Zelda type combat system, as you go through random dungeons that does get very repetitive quickly. This game cost pretty low now, so it still maybe worth pick up..Sound Sound seems to fit this game nicelyGameplay Creating new weapons are pretty nice, and building town system is creative & fun at first, but then it becomes boring and repetitive. You basically go into random dungeons picking up parts to make up a town, and then build the town by listening to what the town folks want. On the last level of the each dungeon you fight the boss then on to the next town to fix. After the first few towns I started getting very bored of doing that same thing over and over again. The only thing different was the textures of the dungeons and a few new monsters per town. I did have fun with it for the first few hours, but your best bet is to rent it first.Would you like to Comment? Join VideoGameReview for a free account, or Login if you are already a member. Summary This games is wanderful!! Once you play and kno how to get items and get the hang of it, it's can be one of your favorite RPG games!.. It gets addicting!! Very addicting if you are and RPG fan you can can go the whole night without noticing! This game is wanderful I recomend it!Sound Sound.. Music his cool.. But thats all you get is the music pretty much. But I do have to say the bosses have sound and it tends to go with him making it great.! Well thats all I can say have fun playing the game!Gameplay The game play is fun but rather long. What I do have to say is that in the dungeons you tend to fight the same monsters over a again. I do have a grudge agaisnt that.. But I consider it a great game!!! Bosses are a lil to easy tho accept the first one but the others.. Are a lil way to easy.! Oh yeah and building the towns can be a lil difficult to suit there needs.. And make eveyr thing 100% This game has a great story line!Would you like to Comment? Once Id gotten the hang of the controls and got through the first dungeon it got easier to understand.Sound Great music to go with the different dungeons and events, but it can be a bit repetative you might find yourself humming it! Overall the sound is good but sometimes well for me it stopped and Id be walking through a dungeon with no background music.Gameplay Very good! Some dungeons can be a bit repetative with the monsters but thats my only grudge! I love how its a long game because it means I get to play it more and more, setting up the houses to how the people want isnt hard if you do it by one by one.Would you like to Comment? Summary Basically, The whole story of the game is that there is this eveil guy..who looks a lot like Hitler (only skinnier), and he's trying to revive the "Dark Genie" with his little fat parter. So they summon all these evil people and tell them to dance in front of the Dark Genie's lamp until her comes out. When the Genie finally comes out, he reeks havoc and destroys your little town where you, Toan (you can change his name), live...and about 5 other towns as well. Everything and everyone exept you, the mayor, and this creepy wizard guy are put inside little spheres and put inside "dungeons" and then are guarded by evil monsters and such. The mayor gives you supplies such as bread, water, a dagger, and repair powder (that is used to fix your weapon). Now go into the dungeons and collect the spheres and bring the village back to it's normal state! When you gather all the parts you get to rebuild the town and place everything the way you want it. In the dungeons, along with the spheres, you also find treasure chests. And depending on their sizes, you get different items. When you're done rebuilding your town, head to the next, and the next..and so on~~!Sound Battle music inside the dungeons, and peaceful music when your rebuilding the towns. You get used to it after a while though.Gameplay Very very nice. I loved the storyline and the fact that you can get new weapons from some treasure chests and when you use the weapon a lot, you have to repair it. And if you don't repair it..it breaks and disappears forever. When you find new weapons in the treasure chests they can be stronger!Would you like to Comment? Summary For starters, whatever you people out there payed for this game, you're being over charged(Believe me I should Know). This had to be one of the worst RPG's ever made. What irritated me even more was how all the magazines gave this such great reviews when it was first released. Anyways I'll give the overall evaluation.Sound The soundtrack was slightly better than the gameplay, but not much. In the end it seemed like a poor imitation of Chrono Cross's soundtrack with some of the Celtic melodies. The game lacked voiceovers, but again this wouldn't have helped the game anyways. Also, it would have been a shame to waste good voice talents on such a shallow game.Gameplay The storyline(what there was of one) sucked. It was like someone scribbled a quick story onto a cocktail napkin and used it as the plot. The characters both playable and non-playable were dull to say the least. For example, the military officer that used the genie to destroy the world was very lame. Which brings me to my next point. Who the Hell!!! were some of these people? There was no purpose for most of these characters to be there except to just to take up space on the screen. The combat system was boring and tedious for the most part. Building your own weapons by combining 2 or more older weapons wouldn't be so bad, except most of the weapons break after only a few hits. This is the most irritating part of the game, especially when it sometimes takes hours just to level up one of your choice weapons. Last, the town building part got old after about two dungeons. The dungeons are randomly generated which is an interesting concept, but alas does little or nothing to boost the intrigue of the gameWould you like to Comment? Summary This game has a great storyline to follow and the music is in good quality. Though its not the funest game there is and the fighting can get repetitive pretty fast and weapons hp get chewed up pretty fast. This a game for the people who like good story.Strength The weapon system is awsome it may be a little complex but this is probably only what makes the game play any good. The story line is awsome you probably won't any better one than this. you can get the story line you pay some attention. The world rebuilding fun and you place some ones house in a corner. good musocWeakness The weapon hp gets down too fast. The fighting gets boring. Fetching for the gate is not alot of fun.Would you like to Comment? Join VideoGameReview for a free account, or Login if you are already a member.
