SpiderMan for GameCube Videos >>
Summary This game is pretty darn good, although it sure does get annoying sometimes!Sound I loved the sound: not so much the actual SOUND, but what they did with the voices. The actors' and actresses' voices from the movie were used, a good idea. The dialog was funny and realistic, keeping to the grounds of the actual movie- especially Spider Man. The Narrator is extremely funny in the Tutorial. I gave the sound a 5 for overall excellence in Sound.Gameplay This game is... Well.. Time-consuming! The only fun I get out of it is the Training session! It IS very close-following with the actual Spider Man Characters- even though they're all original plot-lines. It could have been more fun, but then the other stuff wouldn't have been as good. I didn't get a sense of fun in this game, just a competative sense.Would you like to Comment? Sure it is kind of eazy and could be completed in a short period of time, but it is all worth it. I mean the graphics are fantastic. It is awesome how you are able to control spider man with such great moves. The ending could be better though but it is a game That I would recomend. It is fun to play... for a while.Sound Well since I was all into the game, I really did not take the time to actually listen to the sounds or the music. But what I do remember seems to have been O.K. Even if it wasn't, come on its just a video game but anyway the game play makes up for the sound.Gameplay When playing Spider Man, you really get into the game. From web slinging to wall crawling it's all there. The moves are fantastic and all you hardcore Spider Man fans will have the time of your lives beating up shocker or Chasing Vulture all through the city.Would you like to Comment? Summary What a great game, short-termish i mean, they added every spiderman ability you could think of, which is great for us spider-man heads...my full review;Sound William Dafoe and the other villians are superb, toby maguire is not, his voice acting lacks realism and comedy (which they tried to throw in), other than that, it seems like they play the same damn song throuhout every level, and every menu. thanks for the sh%$*y theme, i could've done better.Gameplay Every spidey-ability ever, and more, from web slinging to combos to spidey sense, this game has it all, a bit lacking in the story line and movie-related content, also, wayyy too short, plenty of extras, but not enough to make you play it for hours on end, unless your completely thrilled with the graphics and abilities.Would you like to Comment? Summary Fun game...easy yes, but the replayability and the realization that your spiderman is great! this game allows many peoples fantasies to come true (kinda)Sound it's a video game...it's not gonna have a pumping techno/rave/metal soundtrack that'll make you feel like killing the goblin personally...it fit the mood...congrats activisionGameplay Gameplay is great, swinging around in New York with your web is so much fun! yes the thugs are stupid, but this type of drawback simply allows the user to find new ways to make use of this game. The camera was indeed annoying but I found it in now way make the game "unplayable".Would you like to Comment? Join VideoGameReview for a free account, or Login if you are already a member. Summary Well ill be honest, if you are fan of spiderman you better dont read this....ok the game is easy to beat even in the hard mode this was my birthday gift and i finished the next day, yeah i admit it the feel of controling spiderman is great its the best game of spiderman over the PS relases, but its too EASY Sound Too BAD!!!!! when u play a stage and u cant pass or just wanna hear the sound, its Horrible!!!!!cause the music in the game is bored and too simple nothig comparated with batman vengeanse.....exept for the great scnes of video that is really cool Gameplay Well as i say at the first the game okay is easy the way you move spidey is great, he can really do everything that the comic say, climb, junp, punch, hide etc.... but its bored the enemys are stupid, the only villian that is "difficult" its shocker, but not to much,i dont see the movie yet cause in my country yhe movie its not available until today, yeah and i really wanna see it to compare to the game and the are a few secrets and codes Would you like to Comment? But like everyone else says: THE CAMERA/POINT-OF-VIEW ABSOLUTELY STINKS!!! I HOPE SOMEONE AT ACTIVISION OR TREYARCH IS AWARE OF THIS!Sound Nothing to write home about, but not disappointing. I would have gladly paid an extra $100 if Nintendo had incorporated 5.1 digital sound into the American Gamecube.Gameplay Three different buttons just for web-slinging alone! (Dozens of really cool different ways to make good use of that web) Plus standard punch, kick, and jump abilities, and tons of cool combos, air attacks, and wrestle attacks, which have varying degrees of success against different enemies. Also a standard aim feature, useful for both movement and attacks. I really like how they threw in a "Thief"-style light detector and incorporated stealth and "avoiding detection" into a lot of the levels (I don't think the levels are "too dark"). I have to give them some credit on the camera issue, too... at least it doesn't suffer from really bad clipping issues like most 3D 3rd person POVs do. Other than that, though, it is one of the most frustrating, annoying, and debilitating camera controls I have ever dealt with. The movement of the character is sometimes completely inconsistent and illogical because of the wacky camera view, making it annoying difficult to do what you want to do.Would you like to Comment? Summary When I was younger, I was more into Superman & Batman. Though I wasn't really into Marvel, I was a Spider-man fan. His origin, villians, powers, etc. were all awesome. And after seeing the movie, I am an even bigger spider-man fan!Sound The sound is pretty good. The comments made by the characters are very intelligent. Contrary to what others say, Tobey Maguire did a pretty good job and Willem Dafoe is just great.Gameplay The gameplay is excellent. There is a large array of levels and each one has their own unique style and objective which adds to the reply value. I honestly don't understand why everyone is griping over the camera? It's really not that bad if you just tap the C stick once in a while. The boss fights are amazing and require some skill in order to win. This is a must buy for a spider-man fan!Would you like to Comment? Join VideoGameReview for a free account, or Login if you are already a member. Summary As a child I always wanted to be Spiderman. this game forfilled my dream! You get to fly above the city, fight the classic enemys, and sneak around Oscorp. This is my favorite game on the Gamecube!Sound The sound is pretty good!i really hate the bepping tho when the alarms go off in Oscorp!Gameplay The gameplay is fast, colourful, exiting, and it leaves you sweating on the edge of your seat. the controls are fairly easy, and the built in rumble is great!Would you like to Comment? Fiddling with it often puts the controls out of wack for a second or two. The levels are nice, especially the outdoor levels.Sound The sound effects are nice. Web slinging makes a nice "woosh!" The zip-line makes a nice "zip." The punches sound solid. The voice acting is well above average. It itself is nicely done, however, there is a certain lack of variety that leads to some stale lines.Gameplay The story is reasonable enough. The combos are cool. The camera is the only thing that really drags this down. It is annoying, but most gamers should be able to handle it. Overall, this is a passing grade.Would you like to Comment? Summary This game is amazing. You get to fight all the classic spiderman villains, including the green goblin, shocker, and vulture. The way you get to battle while swinging through uptown manhatan is so awsome. Aside from the main story you can play numerous trainning levels as well as a few mini-games, like spidey bowling.Sound The sound in the game is good. It's always fun to hear a tonting battle between spiderman and the green goblin. I was a little disapointed when none of the main songs, like Hero, wasn't in the game at all. It was great to be able to hear Shockers blasts charge up then fire.Gameplay The controls are easy to pick up. After about 30 minutes you'll get the hang of the basic controls. It will take a bit longer to master the many special moves that you can do. I have to emphazise the amazing air battles you get to play. They're just so awsome. Would you like to Comment? What do you get by having one of the most loved super hero out there made in a game combined with top - notched graphics/ sound/ controls of the GameCube? You get a top - notch game of course. Spiderman: The Movie is an excellent addition to all GameCube owners. The graphics sells itself and the versitility of the gameplay and controls are just perfect to capture spidey's true actions. There are also bonuses to be discovered such as extra movies and artwork. But the coolest things are in the codes section where you change the skin (play in Alex Ross's spidey design, MJ, Peter Parker etc) as well as other modes such as Matrix (where guys get knocked out in slow - mo), and big headed or tiny modes). My favorite bonus has got to be the code that enables the player to become Harry Osborne (or the "new" green goblin). You can actually play the entire different game as the Green Goblin! So this adds a totally different perspective and replay value to the game. You'll get to love the green goblin after you play this mode and, like me, would maybe find that Green Goblin would actually be better than the web-crawler it-self in completing missions... But hey, Spiderman's the star of this game, but a Green Goblin game would be nice too cause I started liking him after I got to be him. So that was nice. Although this game (like most games do) have its shortcommings, Spiderman: The Movie is fun till the end... but the end comes too soon (I finished it in about 8 hours)... No spoilers here, but the ending was too short. Hopefully the movie's ending is not as disappointing as this one. Sound Sound in this game is probably the weakest. Although the acting parts are done pretty well (besides from the fact that you'll hear Tobey's lines over and over again), background music gets annoying at times too(especially when you are trying to beat the stage for the 9th time).Gameplay Previous Spiderman or most other superhero transformed video game usually failed to make the transition from the actual comic our tv screens. Controls for games were usually too simple, in turn creating repetitive movements on the gaming part. However, in this edition of Spiderman, Activision (like their previous takes on Spiderman both on the PC and Video Gaming versions) have learned that in order to capture the superhero's versitility, the controls should be more complex. This is absolutely the case for this game. Spiderman: The Movie involved all of GameCube's control buttons. It may sound complicated, but it should be this way because being Spiderman shouldn't be easy. I loved the controls and the added combos (which you need to get in order to make your spidey perform).Would you like to Comment? Summary spider-man for gamecube, is the best looking game released so far. the graphics are amazing and as far as stroyline goes, who could say no to a radioactive spider attacking a flying goblin. When i first started playing however, i got motion sickness, and didn't find the beginning levels too exciting, but after the first few levels, it got interesting and i really got into the game. Overall, this is a pretty good game, although i don't recommend spending as much as i did.Sound Sound include two categories: the background music, and sound effects/voice.The music in the game is ok. I noticed that the music will play and if it plays too long, it will stop, and start over again. I found this to be annoying and felt that the producers should have blended the music so you can't tell that it just stops and starts over again. The effects are really good. You can hear everything from the Green Goblin's muffler, to the trickle of rain in the city. The voices however get repetitive and annoying. Gameplay The game requires some tweaking in the play control. I found it very difficult to change directions when climbing walls, and slinging through the air. I also found that spider-man moves relatively slow, which I did not like. The levels are innovative and have fun objectives, but i found that the challenge of the levels were distibuted unevenly. I had a harder time fighting shocker(probably level 10)than i did fighting Green Goblin in the final level. And the replay value of this game is mediocre. I could play this game over and over, but probably only for a month. Would you like to Comment? Join VideoGameReview for a free account, or Login if you are already a member. Summary Spiderman is a nice graphical game where you can do almost anything spidermanish! Web slinging, web powers and other abilities make it a good game, i give it an 8.5/10. Of course, there are pros and cons to the game. One of the greatest things about it are the movie clips! They are incredible and some look like they are from the movie (it isn't released yet as of when I wrote this review so I am uncertain)! The sound is good and everything but the only drawback to this game is the camera-- You sometimes have to move it while you are playing the game in order to have a good angle and it takes a while to master. I do reccomend buying this game!Sound The sound was very good. I don't know if it had music or not because i was lost in the gameplay, but the sound effects and voices are hillarious. When you go through the turtorial you get to hear funny sarcastic remarks. Also, spiderman says them on occasion throughout the game and when he encounters bosses.Gameplay The gameplay is the games only limit. You have to deal with the camera angle and can change it while you are in fights. This is good in a way, however, it's very difficult to learn and takes a good few hours of playing the game (just two or three) till using the camera angle to your advantage becomes natural. The web slinging and fighting are great but the camera is basically the only thing that drags down on the gameplay because sometimes it's very hard to follow.Would you like to Comment? The graphics are cool and the game puts off a cool feeling but its not enough to make up for its shortcomings!Sound Cheesy voice acting and repetetive lines get anoying....Gameplay Two words: HORRIBLE CAMERA. Arg, the camera makes this game unplayable! You basicly run around and fight bad guys Final Fight style with webs instead of bats. You have a web meter and a life meter....you pick up icons to fill either when thier low. You can use you web as a weapon and sling bad guys or swing from bnuildings or walls. This whole idea would be cool and this game would rock if it wasent for one of the worst cameras I have ever seen in any game EVER!Would you like to Comment? Summary Having played the first 2 Spiderman games, this one did not disappoint. The levels were reasonably challenging and the look was overall pretty darn good. The camera was a bit quirky, but nothing that a diehard Spiderman fan could not overlook.Sound Sounded great thru my stereo.Gameplay Uncle Ben's killer, tough. The Scorpion, tough. The Shocker, tough. The Vulture, not so tough but by far the most fun level to play. I love doing battle with the Vulture high above the city, very well done. The Goblin was very tough in hand to hand combat and so so in aerial combat, loved fighting the green guy. Overall the levels were well done and the game did not exceed my expectations, but met them pretty much. A truly fun ride. Thanks Activision and Treyarch.Would you like to Comment? Utter perfection thru and thru!! after all WHO didnt always want to be spidey when they were kids???? Well, unfortuatly this game is all that but suffers from the nastiest game camera in the history of gaming!!!!Sound ehh, its ok, Bruce Campbell is its saving grace. All i have to say is i REALLY REALLY REALLY hope that the voice acting is not sampled from the movie, or we are in for one major camp fest!! And i really hope that the movie plot is deeper then this shallow puddle of a story. REALLY BAD one liners too, that get VERY old VERY fast. Its supposed to seem like spider and enemies are throwing insults while fighting, but come off more as just randomly spouting the same phrases over and over again. Music is good.......for about the first 5 bars, then you realize it is the same 3 stanzas over and over and over and over for the whole game!!!!Gameplay Gamplay is great, i love the fighting combos, i LOVE the web-swinging and zipping. Everything about the way the game plays is butter! EXCEPT that damn camera!!! Who programmed that thing???? they were obviously drunk, or high! I mean come on! this game could've been the greatest game out this year, but it instead falls majorly short because you are constantly battling with the POV!! The really sad part is all they had to do was make it like Tony Hawk, where the camera stays fixed on your character really well, and it would have been awesome. I like the way it looks when you stick to the ceiling and can see thru is, cuz you can see your environment, but i guess activision felt that they had spent SO much time on the spidey model and so little time on the enemies that that is what the gamer MUST see, at all times!!! Most of the game you are trying to move in ways to trick the camera into moving around behind spidey. Its like it was programmed to always look in the direction you DONT want to be looking. At least they have a target camera button to follow enemies or else fighting would be totally impossible.Would you like to Comment? Comics, cartoon's , even old PC games (remember questprobe) are in my collection. I was very happy to get this game and very satisfied with it as well. Although the gameplay and fighting may not be as tight as I like it, the graphics are incredible. The scenes where spidey swings through the city are eye popping (especially the night scenes).Sound Sound is alright, nothing great though. The voice overs were done really well. Defoe expecially did a fine job. The only complaint is spidey starts to repeat his wisenheimer cracks at the badguys after a while.Gameplay Thegame follows a predefined story line like the other spiderman games of late. The controls are similar and offer a Classic and enhanced version of the controls. I play the classic since I was already used to it. Fighting is a little odd and usually ends up a button mashing fest. The aerial combat was a lot of fun. Being able to interact with almost all the scenery was a blast.Would you like to Comment? Summary I'm a little baffled by some of the complaints I've read about this game. For example, some of the reviewers below have criticized it for lacking puzzles and RPG elements. That makes no sense to me. Spider-Man is a superhero action game, and should play as such. When I play a videogame based on my favorite comic book superhero, I want to feel as though I am immersed in that comic book world (or in this case, movie world). I don't read Spider-Man comics to see him solve puzzles. And RPG elements? They have no place in a game like this. Videogames based on superheroes are only effective if the players feel as though they have all of that characters powers and abilities at their disposal from the get-go. And in that respect, Spider-Man delivers. The only way RPG elements could have been added would be if Spider-Man started out weaker, or with fewer powers, and then became stronger as the game progressed; for me, a contrivance like that would have cheapened the game.Is this game perfect? No. There are some camera issues, and the AI for some of the thugs isn't always great, but the good far outweighs the bad. Yes, the level objectives and storyline are linear. But, with the exception of a couple of levels with timed objectives, the player is given a great deal of freedom. I've replayed several levels, and never felt like I was just going through the motions. As far as the camera issues go, all I can say is I haven't played a 3rd person 3D action game yet that hasn't had some camera problems--it's the nature of the beast. And considering the fact you are controlling a character that can climb on any surface and swing into the air on a whim, I'd say the developers did as good a job with the camera as can be expected. Bottom line, this is fun action title, with well-designed levels that rarely feel repetitive, and never feel boring. As a huge Spider-Man fan, I know I am biased, but I played the last Activision Spider-Man game for the Dreamcast, and while it was fun for a while, I ultimately gave up on it because I thought it had a lot of problems. I can honestly say that this game has solved most, if not all of those problems, and delivered as close a Spider-man simulation as I could have hoped for. Sound I don't have any kind of sound system set up with my television, just the regular built-in stereo speakers; therefore, I can't give a really in-depth review of the sound quality. But all of the sound effects are good and feel authentic, and the music is apropriate to the gameplay. The voice acting is great. Willem Defoe put a lot of enthusiasm into the voice work he recorded for the game, and Bruce Campbell provides typically humorous commentary. Many people have complained that Toby Maguire's voice work is dull, but I have to disagree. I think the deadpan delivery of his one-liners works great, and it's how I've always imagined Spider-Man would sound.Gameplay Gameplay is solid. Control is tight for the most part, but there are some annoying glitches. At times, usually when you are wall-crawling (though it has also happened while I was running), if you quickly change directions with the control stick, Spider-Man will continue to move in the direction he was going, and not respond to the controller. Also, if you are standing still and you activate your zipline, it is supposed to take you straight up to the ceiling. But sometimes, if you hit the zip button too soon after releasing the control stick, you will be zipped in the direction that you were running before you stopped. On the positive side, web-swinging and aerial combat are pure bliss.
