Summary

greaty game you just go aroung kicking the living daylight out of other trainers pokemon. stradgy, mind blowing great game. you have to think more in this game than other games a lot longer as well. sometimes i think it went a bit far by having 16 badges, i mean what is the point. people thought pokemon should have stop while they were ahead, but this game proves them wrong they were right to carry on.

Sound

the sound i found was the same nothing diffrent at all maby if you go in diffrent places it will have the right sound for it, but other wise t is the same. but the sound gets really anoying i mean omg!!!!!!!!.

Gameplay

easy to get used to. easy to talk move, and even 3 year olds could learn how to play in 5 mins.

Sound

The sound was basically the same as the old ones only the radio pokeflute sounded beter than the cheap pokeflute in Blue Red and Yellow.

Gameplay

The gameplay was astonishing. The setup of the map was ingenius and there were alot of twists and turns. The allstar team i was talking about is Mewtwo,L100;Tyranitar,L100,Dragonite,L100;Exeggutor,L100; Lugia,L100;Ho oh,L100. Mewtwo was traded from my blue version(for your information i never used that stupid duplicate your items move at cinnabar!), Tyranitar i raised from a L20 Larvitar, Dragonite i raised from a L10 Dratini, Exeggutor i raised from a Execute, and Lugia And Ho oh i caught in their special places. Some good things to teach your pokemon are for Mewtwo, Psychic,Recover,Hyper Beam, And Dynamic Punch(Beacause Fighting is good against Dark) Exeggutor,Hypnosis,Leech Seed,Psychic,Solarbeam(if you use Hypnosis to put them to sleep, then use leech seed to take their hp away and give it to you, there asleep, getting their hp sucked from them and you should top it off with a couple of solarbeams and Psychics! And Some who are not in my party: Feraligatr and Blastoise. Feraligater should know hydro pump and as a side dish put in blizzard or Ice punch to deflect the grasss offences. Blastoise should know the same things but also know skull bash(a very powerful normal attack. And another thing, you people who use codes to duplicate and train, THAT IS JUST A CHEAP AND STUPID WAY TO WIN!!!

Summary

The Pokemon fad, which has brought Nintendo millions of dollars, has not even peaked yet!!! Even with the release of both Gold and Silver, Pokemon shows signs of being more than just a fad.

Gold, takes place three years after the first Pokemon adventure. It contains a whole new area to explore, new Pokemon to catch, new trainers to battle, more items to collect, and a whole lot more new things to do....not to mention, it still has everything from the first adventure.

I myself, have fallen into the Pokemon craze a few years back, and sad to say, I still like Pokemon. Not the toys, not the clothes, not the TV show, but the game. If Nintendo hadn't marketed Pokemon as a cute thing for kids, I'm sure a lot more older gamers would give the game a look. It offers hours of addictive gameplay, and requires you to use strategy when facing other trainers. Still, despite it's cute reputation, Pokemon Gold is a must have for RPG fans.

Sound

The sound is pretty good. It's a lot better than the other Pokemon games.

Gameplay

With over 200 Pokemon to collect and train, it could take you quite a while to finish the game. You start off with one of three starter Pokemon, and work your way up from there. You have to catch wild Pokemon to add to your team.....think of it as convincing a soldier to join your party in most RPG games.

The battles that take place are not just, win with power, but you gotta use strategy too. Different Pokemon are weak against other Pokemon, and therefore all battles must be carefully thought out. I wish however, that the strategy would have been more complicated. Once you get the basic strengths and weaknesses down, you can whizz through the game. The 19 bosses are way too easy, and use very little strategy of their own.

All in all, the game has good game play, but is way too easy.

Sound

There isn't much to discuss in sound. Not much of the music is that memorable, but it's mostly all good. The Pokemon have their roars and what not, and everything sounds like you'd expect it to in real life.

Gameplay

Gameplay in Gold is very similar to the older Pokemon games. You control a little character on a big map, and you can talk to other people you encounter. Wandering around in tall grass, caves, or water may spring up a Pokemon attack. At this time, you call out one of your Pokemon to do battle. You may have up to six in your party, by the way. The battles are simple menus, giving you the choice to attack, use an item, switch Pokemon, or run away. Occasionally, a Pokemon trainer like you will challenge you to a duel. You will fight his monsters and if you win, get some money. New to this Pokemon game (and Silver) are the time and cell phone features. The time I explained in the summary, since it's more important than the cell phone. The cell phone is a way for you to communicate with the other characters in the game. You can call your momma and tell her to keep some money for you, call Bill and see how full your Pokemon computer is, or call other trainers for information. The most important way this comes into play is that at certain times, a trainer will call you to report a rare Pokemon siting. High tail it over to that trainer's area and you may be the proud new owner of a Pokemon.

Sound

Game Boy beeps. Just beep-beep-beep is all you hear. I could design a better sound by a 20-year-old PC-speaker. Where is the quality? I just can't believe that this title even made it to the Top 10 list!

People used to play these wanderful Doom or Duke Nukem! Now, they are playing with this STUPID Pokemon game. I am telling you. Doom has ACTION! LOTS OF ACTION! Why are these people just digging in to this stupid monster-hunting and raising crap? Come on people! Look at Doom! Look at Duke Nukem! These games are 1,000,000,000 times better. Duke Nukem is supposed to be the No. 1 game, not Pokemon!

Gameplay

Go out of town, catch a pokemon, train, and that is all you do. Can't they just think of every other things in Video Game life then to catch these stupid creatures? Trying to catch legendary Pokemons is just a plain waste of time. I think that people just don't have anymore wills to live.

Sound

(4/5)

Well, the music is exillerating, and the attacks and sound during battle are O.K., but honestly, it's nothing I haven't heard before.

If GBC had capabilities for better sound, this rating would be a 2 or lower, but seeing that the sound is excellent (for GBC) I offer a 4/5.

Gameplay

(5/5)

After much thought and delegation (mostly with my brain), I have come to give this a 5/5, for such reasons as:

You can level your Poke'mon into bad muthas that are nearly impossible to defeat. As a diehard RPGer, I love this sort of thing, as will most anyone who plays this.

You can name your Poke'mon. I found this feature non-essential, but when some foolish trainer brings up a bellsprout and you bring up you "Flamelord", you see what i mean.

The attacks are sweet! I mean, I loved such attacks as Chikorita's Razor Leaf and Cindaquil's Ember attack. The essence around that (along with weaknesses (("Super effective!))) add to the fun level tremendously. Imagine Poke'mon gold without attacks. *Shivers*. Scary!

Yup, absatively posalutely a 5/5 here.

Sound

Well, okay sound. I like the music, but I hate those pokemon cries when they come out from their pokeball and you know what I mean. Its very annoying. I like the music when you go into caves and the city music was okay as well. Nintendo could have done a better job than this. Well, thats about it I have to say on this game.

Gameplay

Well, it was okay at first then it got a bit boring. To admit it, I don't like pokemon but this game was good enough for me. I was impressed that Nintendo changed the engine for Pokemon Gold and Silver, well, they kind of used the same engine but better graphics and more colours. Its probably a 16-bit ROM. Well, you can use your gameboy to trade it with your friends and battle each other. Well, pokemon used to be pretty popular but now there are some other titles to choose from like Dragon Ball Z, Digamon. By the way, Digamon sucks as well. Anyway, to find wild pokemon, you must walk into long grass for starters or go into a cave. This time, instead you play as Ash, you play as another character, looks kind like Ash, and you start from a town called Goldenrod City. You get one pokemon from Professor Elm. Totodile is a water pokemon, Chikorita is a grass pokemon and Cynaquil is a fire pokemon. Every pokemon has a weakness and strong against another pokemon. Also, you get a rival, but its not gary. Its another person and you get to name him whatever you like. He steals a pokemon from Elm, which you get to battle him later, bt first, you must battle wild pokemon to raise the level of your starter. Its sometimes annoying that you walk into long grass and lots of common pokemon appear like Pidgey or Rattata. Well, battling pokemon trainers are easy. I clocked this game in just few days. The old world seems a bit different, and shorter. Well, have you played Pokemon Stadium 1 & 2? They both suck. To admit, this game is far better. Also, play PC games like Age of Empires, Red Alert, Quake, etc. You can teach your pokemon some TM's and HM's. HM's moves can be replaced by another move. HM's are very important. The new HM moves are Waterfall, and Whirlpool. Waterfall can climb up waterfalls in caves and Whirlpool can stop annoying Whirlpools on water.
