Summary So, it's been three years and here I am holding one of the most anticapated video game of all time. It's supposed to be the best video game of all time. Is it? Well, the best to ever hit the N64 box anyway. it all comes down to what genre you like for you to think this is the best video game ever. But, as far as I am concered, THIS GAME ROCKS!Sound the sound is also very well done, with a nice track of music in which some songs wanna make you stand up and dance! I just love the sound-effects as well. You hear faint drips as you walk through the cave swiftly. Very top-notch sound here folks!Gameplay the gameplay is some of the best in which i have ever felt. Controls are great1 (ecspecially with the lock on technique, helps a bundle!) the feel of slashing through a walking zombie chills me. I just love how this game was all put together.Would you like to Comment? Join VideoGameReview for a free account, or Login if you are already a member. Summary This is game is obviously amazing. I know there are some people who somtimes have a different opinion from the rest which they are entitled to, but the fact is that those people who gave it crap ratings are all queers. To the people who did give it crap ratings- why are you so gay? You can't really think that you know better than all these people. Oh wow this isn't strictly an 'RPG'- WHO GIVES YOU FOOLS?!! It was still mind blowing stuff nonetheless. I'll bet your thinking- what does he know anyway? more than you stupid. everyone reckons it's wicked. This game combines amazing graphics, good gameplay and the sound was pretty decent as well. It wasn't crap like some people said. I'll admit the game was a little on the short side, but not that much. It doesnt take like a couple of hours or something to complete on your first go if you do it properly. And people come on this story was clearly very good and above average. Okay fine some other RPG's might have some better storys but this was still good.Sound There isn't much to say about sound I think. However in my opinion sound isn't that much on my mind when your thinking how to figure out something so I don't attach that much importance to it. I can say though it never really got to the point where it was distracting or annoying. The sound wasn't really breakthrough though, but it was fine and again it suited the game perfectly. Maybe ingame speech would have made it better? I dunno, but if they did that, no doubt more queers would complain about how annoying some of the voices were.. Gameplay Gameplay was good. Don't listen to the people who said it was dumb. The fact is the controls for this game is one of the easiest to get to grips with. As people have said, the Z-targeting system is very clever. The controls for Link are carefully customized to suit the controller and allow link to have loads of moves. There is no jump button but the guy who made this cleverly made it so you can still jump without a button and there are no difficulties at all.Would you like to Comment? This game sets the standard in which all video games should be made. I love the fact that you can target enemies and fight them with a wide variety of weapons. I think the fact that you can see the horse you will get as an adult as a baby then grow up and see it is great. The horse (epona) is a great edition to an already great game! And figuring out how to get things like the horse is great fun. IF you need help on getting it for some odd reason, e-mail me. If you dont like this game, you are either mentally deficient or you have a brain tumor and should get that checked.Sound The sound is great! Its just that, at times it can be kind of annoying. But, only at some times. The weapon sounds are great. The music is great! At times, it can cheer you on. At other times it can make you feel more alert. Sometimes it can make you feel sad. And sometimes can scare you. It has something for every occasion.Gameplay OH! Your in heaven when your playing this game. Control of link is great. The movements and gestures he makes are also great! Link doesent move like in most other n64 games. He moves like a living, breathing person. The fact that you can go back and forth through time and turn adult and child is also great!! Also, having different clothes to help you through different atmospheres is amazing! A great virety of foes keeps you wanting more! Sure you get stuck but, get an online guide.Would you like to Comment? Join VideoGameReview for a free account, or Login if you are already a member. Summary This is an awesome game. The story is cool, the graphics are neat, and the sound is good too. I like everything about this game. The theme of time and how places change over time is cool, and it is interesting that Child Link and Adult Link have different abilities, and some are limited to ONLY that form. One example is how adult Link can use powerful weapons like the Megaton Hammer due to his strength, but cannot fit through crawlspaces to due his size. The Spirit Temple has a part that only child Link can complete, but also has another part where only Adult Link can complete it.Sound The sound is very cool. Hyrule Field tries to urge you to continue your quest and the Thief's Hideouts in Gerudo Fortress have dark, murky sounds. The game has a wide variety of music, but they re-use it all over. Death Mountain, Lake Hylia, Zora's River, Hyrule Castle, and Hyrule Field have the same music. Everywhere on the Spirit Medallion quest has cool music, but is all the same. The temples have completely different music and sound that sound like the special warp song on the Ocarina that warps you to the temple.Gameplay I like how you can break away from the main quests(the temples) and find Heart Pieces, bottles or ammo upgrades. By increasing the amount of life energy and the maximum amount of ammo you can carry, you greatly increase your chances of defeating the bosses. The bosses are kind of easy, especially Volvagia. The temples are very complex(The Water Temple is too hard to do without a guide book) and the enemies are fun to destroy. I like how Stalfos and Iron Knuckles give you a larger challenge than regular weak enemies. The weapons are a thrill to get and fun to use.Would you like to Comment? Playing through this magical game for the first time is like being in heaven. You wish it would never end. But one day you'll complete it - and it'll all be over, and then every other videogame seems drab and shabby by comparison. This game just makes you think "Oh god why can't all videogames be this great?".I was expecting a lot from Majoras Mask but it really doesn't come close to Ocarina of Time, neither does Perfect Dark or anything else. So now I'm convinced this will always be the best game for the N64. Creating this game must have brought the developers incredible hardship. The only valid complaint there can really be about this game is the ending. It just isn't as good as it could've been. But there's so much to do, and so much to see that you'll be going back through the looking glass long after Gannondorf has been defeated, to see the sights, visit old friends, and always, revel in the wonder of it all. Sound This is what really makes the game magical, those sounds from old Zelda games on the snes. All the tunes are easy on the ear, and help set the mood of the scene perfectly. Like when you're going through Hyrule field you get the hero music, and when you are in LonLon Ranch Sariah sings that relaxing, soothing tune. I just love that Irish music in the Hyrule Town market. The Ocarina sounds are also brilliant, and the tunes are a work of art. Most of the sound effects never become tedious or tiresome because there is so much variety.Gameplay Is it fun? Yep, especially the temples. Its retained much of the gameplay from old Zelda games, and added a whole lot more. There are heaps of fun mini games for everyone to enjoy. Personally I find the fishing a bit of a bore, but the horseback archery is great. You'll always be striving to improve your score.Would you like to Comment? It has unbelievable 3d graphics and the other features are cool. The only problem with the sound is the annoying singing in the farm when the little brat sings. Other than that the game rocks! Go Link!!!!!Sound The sound is pretty good, just a little scratchy. I'm talking about where the little brat at the barn sings, and Navi talks to you and says "lishen". It just gets on my nerves. Other than that, the music is fine and the other sounds are great.****Gameplay The gameplay is perfect. The joystick is really easy to use and the other buttons are easy to get used to. The only problem is that you have to wait for the action icon, but that's not much of a problem.*****Would you like to Comment? Summary Absoluteley exellent , best game I have ever seen.It pulls you into it as soon as you switch it on. Wonderful atmosphere, aspecially with the music . Sound The sounds are the best I've ever heard on any console.I still sing the tunes in my head even when I'm not playing on it.My favourite tunes are- song of storms and the final battle music at the end and not forgetting the very end music when its complete. The good thing about the sounds is the way they suite the atmosphere and the way they fade out when you leave an area and then start up again in another place. And there's a feel of refreshment went you leave somewhere like the Deku Tree and you are back in the Kakiri Forest. but the verall sound in this game is by far the best you will ever hear in any game. Gameplay Brilliant Gameplay, uses the controller to the fullest, quick response, easy to use configeration.one of the best thing's is when you fight an enemy you don't have to keep running around wondering where it has gone , you can just Z target and its allways in your sights, plus it makes it easier to attack the enemy. the thing that makes this game ,is the endless mind-boggling puzzles that the temples are filled with. And all the side quests. There's only one thing I can pick fault with and thats the amount of bottles in the game. Its possable to beat Gannondorf and Gannon with just two bottles or even just the one. I had three bottles with different potions in them, before I started Fighting them and when I finished it I still had a Fairy and a red potion left. Would you like to Comment? Zeldas change to complete 3-D is incredible and any Zelda fan will be pleased. I can honestly say that this game is by far my favorite game of all time. Buy this game immediately!Sound Sound is also great in this game. Great tunes will have you humming while not playing and playing the Ocarina will be fun. There is no speech but each character does make their own unique sounds.Gameplay Gameplay is this games best feature. The camera work is great and z-targeting is made a snap while fighting enemies. Zelda mixes exploration and combat like any other game.Would you like to Comment? Join VideoGameReview for a free account, or Login if you are already a member. Summary The Zelda series of games has long been one of the best selling and highly acclaimed series in videogames. There is a good reason for that though. They are simply very good games with great storylines, gameplay and graphics for their time. Over the years other developers have tried to match the sucess of Zelda and in most cases, have failed horribly. This, the first of the two Zelda's released for the N64,was a great game in all accounts. This game easily surpasses almost every game in its genre in every category.Sound The sound effects are more or less as realistic as you will here, but the carpenter's laugh is scarier then Kefkas' and some other things just sound corny. The music was great but I was disappointed in one way NO CLASSIC MUSIC but all the ocarina songs are played out wonderfully and the dungeon themes are superb.Gameplay The game play remains mostly the same as all the other Zelda games which is excellent, but this game was missing some of the things that made me get so attached to the older ones. A few cool new weapons have been added but some bad ones were to. Also one disappointing factor is how Nintendo handled the magic spells. All three were totally useless (Din's fire did have its moments though). Faroes's's wind was stupid, I never once needed it, when I heard the effects of nayroes love I wanted it badly but when I got it I found no use for it and just used my shield. Also this game had a more linear feeling then the previous ones, it was fun in the snes Zelda going ahead to future dungeons and seeing how far your weapons and skill could get you but in this game something was always blocking you. The new revolutionary Z target was cool but didn't seem so revolutionary to me, in fact at times I got annoyed by that and navi's constant nagging. Even though I did mention how linear this game is in comparison to the previous Zelda games the side quests were very fun and challenging (I bet no ones beat that running man)Also they got you stuff that can help you beat the game (like the ability to hold more bombs, arrows and sling shot bullets, also they can at times give you heart pieces and even new weapons). I give the game play a 9 because it is excellent but not as good as the other Zelda games.Would you like to Comment? Join VideoGameReview for a free account, or Login if you are already a member. Rating Reviewed By bigtimer zeldafanFrom RIGHT BEHIND YOU HAHAHAHAHAHA! Review Date 01/02/2001 Overall Rating ![]() 5 of 5 Rate this review? Summary this is the greatest zelda game ever. if for some reason you dont like zelda then you wont enjoy this one. but if youve loved these games since the first one with the wooden sword and those darned like likes that eat your stuff then youll go nuts over this classic. the most fun 1-player game ive ever played. story is kiddie-ish but this is zelda folks we dont need alien conspiracies or universal philosophy; we need good guy and fairy vs badguy who wants to take over the world. the side-quests and games are totally addicting; sometimes youll go red in the face (try the target practice with slingshot (later with bow)) when you JUST miss that shot that will win the prize, but whaddya know you just gotta try it again and again. some of the bosses are easy and some puzzles are too, but the overall experience is top-notch. nobody could coast through this game the first time playing it, you'll be stumped here and there lots of times, and finally beating that obstacle and hearing the classic "dee-do-doo-do-dee" sound effect when it happens is just....too good for words.Sound the music is one the best qualities of this game. every locale has terrific music, and like others here have said, it fits with the environment. i like the lost woods music + the forest temple a lot, fire temple and the windmill are great too. the ocarina is a pretty neat instrument! if you push up or down while pressing a note button it affects the pitch of the note! i thought that was just incredible, try making up some songs of your own. sound effects (besides music) are really good too (except that blasted gold skulltulla noise that i think i hear all the time) link makes lots of funny sounds as he jumps and slashes and stuff.Gameplay gameplay is terrific. there is more control over link than ever before, and you'll find that every function like shooting a bow or using the hookshot has a different feel to it. the combat system is more detailed than any zelda game by far - you can sidestep, flip backwards, lunge attack, slash, spin etc... everything is simple to use push this button or that and it works.Would you like to Comment? Rating Reviewed By Jerec Child of LightFrom Australia Review Date 01/02/2001 Overall Rating ![]() 5 of 5 Rate this review? Summary IntroductionI noticed that there were a lot of mixed scores for the game I think is one of the most enjoyable games I have ever played. People have given this game a low score simply because it is not a true RPG (for those of you who dont know, it means Role Playing Game). I dont care that it isn't a true RPG, it is still one really fun game, so why does it matter. Action / Adventure games are also very good. Other reasons this game has been given a low score is because it doesn't compare to other games in the Zelda series. The first four games in the Zelda series had a top-down perspective (meaning that you could see the top of the character, and could move around in all directions). In Ocarina of Time, you get a view of behind the character. This is quite similar to Super Mario 64, only the camera has been improved a lot. Just because the game is titled "The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time" and has Zelda characters, but doesn't feel like Zelda isn't a reason to hate this game. Take the same game, but take out the Zelda theme, and you still have one damn good adventure. Before I get on with the review, I have to address another reason why people have scored this game so low. A piece of music was left out. Oh NO! Whatever will we do now? If the particular piece of music was included, would the game be that much more enjoyable? I doubt it. Music is the least important aspect of a game anyway. I am not at all worried about this piece of music has not included in the game. Now, I will get on with this review. I will be rating this game as an Action / Adventure, not an RPG, because it is not an RPG, like everyone says, but still rates it as one. Plot (10/10) A young boy is destined to save Hyrule, and with a few extra things to do along the way. Then the plot will thicken, and I really dont want to go too far with the plot, because it is better to see the plot develop yourself. Link will travel all around Hyrule, trying to save it. One part of the storyline, as Link is off to Hyrule after breaking the curse on the Deku Tree, Saria has a talk to him about friendship. She gives him an Ocarina, and says that whatever happens, you and her will always be friends. This gets a little too much for Link, and he backs away, then runs, leaving Saria looking a little sad. The plot is so involving and every little thing is taken into account. Gameplay 10/10 There is so much to tell about this game that I dont know where to start. So, I will start controls. With the control stick, you can run, walk, tip-toe. There are lots of things you can do, but jumping isn't included. The A button allows you to roll, or put away an item. If you stand near something important in a game, like a block, it will give you the option of pushing it, or if you hold the control stick up, the option of climbing it. This can get a little confusing at times, but I couldn't see a better way of doing this. The B Button allows you to slash around your sword. You can go around cutting grass with your sword, and charging it up to spin around with a more powerful effect. The 3 lower C Buttons allow you to use items you have picked up. Meaning, you can walk into an area, and select the 3 most used items and have them there when you need them. The top C-button will allow you to look around. The Z button adjusts your camera, and speaking of camera, it is really quite effective. It will centre in behind you. The camera can get stuck, but it generally isn't a problem. It is very easy to use, and you'll master it in no time. Climbing something is very easy, all you have to do is get near a climbing surface, and then go up, across, down, until you get where you need to go. It couldn't get any simpler. There are lots of side quests, and in the beginning of the game, you need to collect the three spiritual stones. The first one is in the forest, and is a great dungeon to help you get into the game. Everything is just so large. Go to Hyrule Field, and walk around, its just so huge, but like Super Mario 64 or Donkey Kong 64, things are connected by weird doorways, making everything look so much smaller. You walk up to a house in a village, and notice its size. Quite large. Go inside, and it is still the same size. Its the ratio's of certain places I like. Gerudo Valley is one of my favourite locations, and it has a large building around in there, which, is all to the same ratio. Some of the items you can use are very cool, like the bow or the Boomerang. The most important item is however, the Ocarina. There is no limit to the songs you can play, but there is a limit to the songs that will do something when played. Different songs are taught to you by different people, and do different things. Bottles can be used to put many things in, like fairies, which will give you health if you die. You need to pay for things in the game, like shields. These are paid for with Rupee's. They are crystal things, which depending on the colour, are worth different amounts. You would think that because you are saving the land of Hyrule, that they wouldn't charge you for it. To guide you on your quest is Navi the fairy. She will give suggestions on what you should do next, and can sometimes be like that nagging little sister. Apart from wandering around, getting through the temples and dungeons, there are little side quests. Like the one that starts with a chicken, or the Golden Skulata hunt, or finding the heart pieces. If you dont feel like doing anything meaningful to complete the game, go to the market place and play a few mini games and try to win some prizes. The mini games are fun, and you'll never get sick of them or frustrated by them like in Donkey Kong 64. There is also a day and night system in the game. Things change from day and night, and some parts of the game can only be done at a certain part of the day. Time doesn't pass when you are in a town or temple though. Enemies are in the game, and vary quite a lot. There are so many types of enemy that I have lost track of them, and each one has its own strengths and weaknesses. When fighting an enemy, you use Z to get into a "lock on" system, where you are always facing the enemy and can shoot at it, shield from it, or slash at it with relative ease. There is a little time travelling in this game, as you can become and adult and complete the adventure 7 years after you started. You can go back in time aswell. Later in the game you will aquire a horse. This was one of the favourite parts of the game for me, and I wont spoil too much for you. One last minor thing about the game is the ability to name your character. Call him anything you want in 10 characters or less. Calling him "Link" is probably quite boring, but think of something like "No One" or "Someone" or "Nevermind" or even "Dad" or "Grandma". If you really want to confuse yourself, a good name would be "Zelda". Now, although there are a few very minor problems, the gameplay scores a 10/10 for the amount of fun this game has provided me with. Only one game has been more fun than this and it isn't a N64 game, so I'll just continue the review. Graphics (10/10) Everything is so well detailed, from the bushes to the trees and the water and the grass. Take the opening movie with the fire, and then Navi flying around the Kohiri Village (this is where you start). There are trees that have been carved into houses. See the little markings on Links house. The attention to detail is great. Buildings in other towns have variations that make them look older. Go to Lake Hylia, and see the waterfall and how the water looks in this game. While it isn't as good as Wave Race, it still looks very nice. Then go to Gerudo Valley, and jump off the bridge and see how far you go. Then float down the river. Background can be a little weak in some locations like the Lost Woods, but it does look fine. When you go into a village, you will see people running around doing things, just like they would if you were not there. People get on with their daily lives, and run around. Some characters could have been designed a little better, but it is fine. Link's animation is great. He will move, without any slowdown, or framerate problems. Link moves fluidity and when you get the horse, see how realistic the horse looks and how link rides it. Dungeon design is great too. I will take the first one. You step inside, and see how tall this thing really is, and then you realise you are only on the middle. Spider webs cover some parts. One of the most beautiful scenes in the game is when you are able to get on top of the really high tree in Lake Hylia, and watch the sunrise and then sunset. It just adds to the feel of the game. Very realistic. Overall, I saw very little evidence of fogging and give the graphics 10/10 because they are so much better than most other N64 games. Sound (10/10) By now your probably thinking "Why is he giving each category of the game a 10/10?" Well, the answer is, that so far, the game has proved perfect. All right, the music in this game is really nice. That is why they released the CD for it. From Hyrule Field to Gerudo Valley to the Lost Woods. All the music is really really nice, that I taped some, and played it back in the car on a long drive. Each type of music sets the mood for the location. There is no voice in the game. All the speaking is done with the text. It would be impossible to have full speech, because your name is different every time a new game is started, and the name is used quite frequently. With the conversations that go on. There will be some sounds of the actual character. Like Navi's "Listen", which really sounds like a nagging little sister. The Ocarina and other instruments used to teach you songs, all sound sacred. The attention to detail on every instrument is great. Sound Effects in the dungeon like, opening a locked door, or hitting a switch, may get a little repetitive. But it is really well done. When Link hits something, he yells. This is very similar to the Power Rangers, and can be a little annoying at first, but you get used to it. Lasting Appeal (9/10) Yes, the game does get finished after a while, and it is really a shame. But finishing the game doesn't mean the game is over. Why not find all the heart pieces or Gold Skullatas, or play a nice game of Shooting with your bow. You may replay this game another few times, because Nintendo have made it so its hard and challenging the first time, but not too long to make you want to not play it again. I am into my second game of this now, and still having as much fun as the first time around. Good Points - FUN - Graphics are great - Sound is great - Great storyline - It is Zelda - Huge worlds to explore - Majora's Mask is coming - Quite a lot of depth - Characters each have their own personality and say different things at different times - It is just a great game Bad Points - You'll stop playing this someday - Some people hate this game. - Some people like to give popular games low scores just to get attension. Overall 9.9/10 This is the best game on the Nintendo 64. It takes Super Mario 64 and stretches it out to the extreme limits. It may not be a true RPG, but it is one heck of an Action / Adventure title. If you enjoyed the Zelda games on the NES, SNES and GameBoy. You must get this game. Alternative Choices Very soon, Majora's Mask will be hitting stores and will quench your thirst for Zelda games. Sound --Gameplay --Would you like to Comment? Summary Here we have pure perfection on one single N64 cart. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of time cannot even be called a game, because of the fact that it just absorbs you completly, from the moment you watch the intro sequence, to the moment you smite Ganondorf, you'll not stop smiling at the true gem that Shigeru Miyamoto has created. Never has any game engrossed you, so that you actually care about the characters, and the fate of the living, breathing Hyrule.Sound Long after completion of Ocarina of Time, I still find myself humming the tunes from it! Summary First of all, shame on you idiots out there calling this game a re-hash, what the hell do you think "A Link to the Past" was? The original Nintendo, the only SNES, and the first N64 Zelda games are all variations on a theme. Zelda II (NES)and Majora's Mask (N64) are the only direct sequels to the games that came before them, and Link's Awakening (Gameboy) is a beautiful game that exists outside any real continuity (thus far only Link's Awakening and Majora's Mask have had the cajones to take Link out of Hyrule and not use Zelda as part of the equation). Ok, that little history lesson complete, on to the game itself. She's a beauty. The story is dynamic and probably the most epic of any of the Zelda games (but only just, mainly because the N64 allowed the game to explore more cinematic grounds). Cutscenes are STRONG and the most effective I've ever seen in a game (as opposed to a few FF games on a certain Playstation, where sparse CG will drag you out of the flow of the game, awkward at best). There (as always in Hyrule based Zelda games) is a sense of urgency and danger as you continue to explore the countryside (charged with whatever quest you're currently on). There are enough side quests and games to keep this game from becomming too linear. Then again, that linear quality is what helps to maintain the game as epic (see my review for Majora's Mask, I talk about the difference). The colors are rich and the are is HUGE. I can't think of any detriments to this game. Sound Gorgeous music, I'm still looking for the arranged/orchestrated CD. I recall the music in the Forest and Fire temples as particularly ominous and effective in setting the desired mood. Effects are great, from sword PWANGS to skeleton shuffling to the few noises Link and a few other characters will utter (grunt, really. Our little Link has become quite the spaz! It's great!) Just listen to that scream of terror when you drop him from height that's too high.Gameplay Link is just as easy to use as ever, but now instead of doing A + B he can do A-E! Three items at once, plus the sword and action buttons give you a wide range of combinations. And you'll need them, from riding the horse (Oh! Link has a horse! It kicks arse! This is better than when Mario got Yoshi, Epona will be a mainstay for years to come) to defeating the giant Doddongo, there is no end to the variety in this 3D world. And Zelda has made the BEST transition to the N64, the real time fighting in 3D finally breaks it from the stigma of the role-playing game and sets it solidly in the frame of Adventure Quest (to call it a role-playing game is unfair and untrue, there are too many elements missing). Outside of what happens in towns and skeletons in the field, not a lot comes from the night to day real time meter, and if this game has any detriment (this is slight) its that there is no sense of urgency beyond that which the player imposes. You can spend weeks! (gametime) in a palace, figure out every trick then beat it, and Ganon watches and doesn't seem to care until you finally show up on his doorstep (this is a continuity blip that has irked me about all the Hyrule based Zelda games, but is really just a blip and I only notcie because I'm psychotic). The Z-targeting system is smooth and keeps the action fast and furious. Battles are genuinely exciting and these are the best boses of any video game. EVER. They're myriad and innovative, and Gannondorf was a pain and a half to beat (worthy of a final boss).Would you like to Comment? Now, it still is a kick-ass game, but it's no longer the best game--Shenmue (DC) is. This game is a classic! Everything about it screams goodness.Sound The sound is really good. I don't know why people complained that the old Zelda music wasn't there. We need a change every once in a while--rather than listening to the same old stuff all the time. Very well done.Gameplay This is where Zelda 64 really does well. The gameplay is extremely well done. My only gripe with it is that when you save you either go back to your house (as a kid) or to the temple of time (as a teenager). I would have liked to save the game right where I saved it and stay there, not go elsewhere. Still, it's no biggie. My favorite aspect of the gameplay is the Z-targeting system. I love this idea and without it, the game would have really sucked (I think).Would you like to Comment? Join VideoGameReview for a free account, or Login if you are already a member. Summary You must have played it by now. The Legend of Zelda:Ocarina of Time is quite simply, the very finest videogame known to mankind, reasonating brilliantly on so many levels that it can only be described with the four most overused words in the world of videogaming:The Best Game Ever. Suffice to say there's never been a world so completely realised within a game before, and one so full of finely judged moments, events, and puzzles that, well it beggars belief really. Zelda is chock-full of moments of brilliance. From the wonderfully huge bosses, to the sunsets, to all the sub-games; there's something for everyone to admire.I once asked a friend what his favourite thing about this game was and he just said "everything". But that would be too short. Zelda is so great that I could go on forever. I'd also like to mention that Mario 64 is said by many to be the one of the greatest nintendo games of all time, an absolute classic. Well I must have you know that I hired out Mario 64 and finished it in 3 days (No kidding). Zelda took a combined effort from me and my brother about 6 months to defeat Ganondorf, plus then you can always go back to your last save point and discover all the games amazing secrets if you missed them the first time round. Best video-game ever? Believe it. Sound A strong soundtrack has marked out every instalment in Link's adventures and Ocarina of Time is no exception. The sound effects are superb, some of the music tunes are utterly amazing. Hearing the music from old Zelda games brings a smile to your face and makes the experience a whole lot better. And the knew sounds that you'll hear on the ocarina are dazzling.Gameplay Well your adventure in the land of Hurule is fleshed out in 3D for the first time and it's absolutely amazing. The most enjoyable game on the N64 without doubt for me. The controls are certainly flawless, the Z-Targeting system is excellent and there's always something to be done in the land of Hyrule. The temples are really challenging and require a lot of brain-strain, but getting through some of the tougher ones is a reward in itsel | ||||||||
