Summary

HitMan 2:Silent Assassins,is a 3rd person action/adventure with elements of stealth. The story follows a no name assassin that goes by agent 47.
You are hired by differnt people (I.E. Rich men,Drug lords ect) too kill their enamys. You will fight, sneak and kill your way thru many levels full of trigger happy hench men, useing a heap of weapons (I.E. Sniper rifle,Knifes,Shot guns ect) to finish them off.

Strength

Simple game play.
Levels are eazy too get around, not alot of "puzzles" to hold you up.

Weakness

Bulky controll setup, not eazy to "stay alive".
A.I. is "dumb",at times thru out the game, the enamy (I.E A.I.) will stand and look at you,w/o fireing a shot.

Summary

Great game! All of you who wrote negative reviews shouldn't have wasted your time with video games because this is by far the best shooter i have played on xbox aside from Halo.

Sound

Excellent. I love the mafia music.

Gameplay

Great story that actually is believable unlike some other games. None of that crap about people trying to explode the earth just straight to the point. This guy has to sleep with the fishes. I love how you have so much freedom. You can kill everyone you see or you can be as secret as possible! HUGE replay value also. Hands down the best game to come out in 2003.

Summary

I won't waste time and space describing this game as so many others have in their reviews. I wanted to write this review to cast my vote and say that this is one of the best games ever put out. I feel the need to say this because I am so completely tired of seeing reviews for games that say something to the effect of, "gameplay was excellent but the graphics and sound were not so great so the game stinks." Or, conversely, "This game is soooo beautiful and the cut-scenes are amazing. Nevermind that you can't control your character, this game is great." To me, this completely misses the point which is how does it play? I mean the XFL had innovative camera angles and cool looking uniforms but the game SUCKED. The whole criteria for reviewing games is wrong. At most sites (although not this one thankfully) and in seemingly most peoples minds, a game's overall score is determined by an average of scores for the categories of gameplay, graphics, and sound. In this paradigm, the soundtrack for a game has equal importance to gameplay. Nevermind that sound is largely unimportant; it is a single criteria whereas gameplay actually encompasses a multitude of criteria such as the controler set-up, camera control, weapons/devices operation and control, environmental interaction, save point systems, character control and modification, enemy AI, enemy and character hit points, level design, mission structure, and on and on. In the end, the graphics and sound are really only very small elements of the game. And if the gameplay is excellent and immersive, it stands to reason that the graphics and sound must have been adequate to allow for this level of enjoyment. If you just want something to look and sound good, go rent a movie. This is why Hitman 2 is such a truly outstanding game. The player is given almost absolute control throughout the game. The controls are tight and accurate. The player can control not only the camera but even the perspective switching between 1st and 3rd person as they see fit. The weapons are outstanding and varied. The missions are terrific and replay value is very high. My only complaint is that there weren't 100 more missions so I could keep playing this game for years.

Summary

Hitman2 is a stealth game much like splinter cell. However, stealth in this game relies more on not looking suspiceous than hiding in the shadows. Splinter Cell was my favorite game and probably still is. However, I'm experiencing the same level of satisfaction in Hitman2 and in many respects I like Hitman 2 better.

In Hitman2, you'll take peoples clothes to blend in, walk instead of run when you're around people or you'll give yourself away, sneak up behind people and use stealth weapons like a silencer and fiber wire to slit their throats, you'll have to be careful of how you look to people in other respects like carrying weapons, some of which you can't hide, you need to be warry of metal detectors, camera and alarms. And that's just some of the different tactics that can be used.

The gun play is better in Hitman 2 than in Splinter Cell. I'm often rated as a "mass-murderer" at the end of my levels because when it comes to escaping there are great gun battles that are along the lines of any great FPS. The Halo type of controls are tight in this game once you get use to them.

As with Splinter Cell, you need to complete the first couple of missions and you'll be hooked. Just do whatever it takes to complete them so you can learn the feel of the game. Completing each completed level feels great and is mememorable. I'm almost tempted to say I like this game better than Splinter Cell because that wouldn't be a stretch. The atmosphere in the game is just awsome.

The "save" feature in this game is second to none. You can save anywhere you want unlike in Splinter Cell, but you're given a limited number of times you can save per level (usually 7), which required the wise use of them. You can also get bonus save by performing well.

Summary

Momma Lucia! After that last review I had to write one for this game also. I agree with the previous post concerning the review
of games in magazines and many websites that are advertiser and sales motivated. They lie to you and hype lousey games which I have made mention of too many times on this site. I know his frustration with many reviewers on this site that post WAY TOO HIGH scores for poor games and I myself always look at the low score posts first.
I don't remember how HitMan2 was promoted as far as graphics but the TV ads clearly showed the game in action so there shouldn't have much of a surprise to folks in that respect.
I myself am a stickler for graphics and I will tell you that HM2 is not a great game in that department. I will tell you that HM2 is way, I MEAN WAY more fun to play than the over hyped Splinter Cell. Yea, SC has great graphics but the game stinks BAD. Given the option of choosing a game that looks pretty or one that plays to entertain and SC goes to the dumper.
I don't think it was a secret that HM2 was a cross console title so there it is.
My angry friend is correct that we must demand more of these game developers and that begins here with our reviews of these games. Be honest with your reviews and resist your temptation to overlook shortcomings in a game because you liked it for a perticular reason. Not everyone has the same likes or dislikes, that's why clearheaded and objective thought is required when reviewing.
Truth is truth and there can be no debate or confusion about that.
Instead of posting your opinion, think of it as posting your perception. Post exactly what you saw not what you liked. Or at least preface you opinions as such and make the distinction.
This is a very important site that is provided for us. We should support it as best we can.
One thing I would suggest to V/G Review.com is to put a block below the discuss sound area for the reviewer to post games they like and dislike. Then if the reviewer say's he liked Stuntman....I know not to pay him any mind.

Hitman 2 is a game with graphics that could be better, but my "perception" is that the game worked well. I have no problem with the graphics but I do wish they would have been better to blow that stupid Splinter Cell away. The gameplay does.
If you don't go into it expecting SC or Halo graphics then you won't be disappointed.
If a game gives me entertainment, I got my money's worth. Part of that entertainment is looking at and interacting with a beautiful environment. If a game is lacking somewhat in visual beauty but keeps me entertained, how much better must that gameplay be? HM2 did that for me.
Bottom line.

Sound

I wear headphones when I play my games so I probably hear more than most do. The game sounds fine. The weapons sound very good and it works well.

Gameplay

The story was good. I enjoyed the game very much.
Would I buy it again? YES
Is there action and gunplay? YES
Different weapons that you GET TO USE? Yes
Was I bumbed when the game ended because I liked it so much? YES
Is it a long or short game? That's relative to your "opinion" I payed the full $50.00 and I am happy with it. I am also looking forward to HitMan 3 and will absolutely buy it.
Are there changes I'd make to HM2? Sure, but there isn't a game made that you couldn't say that.
I found HM2 to be an enjoyable and entertaining game. I make no appologies for that.
If you can forgive the less than Splinter Cell graphics, You should enjoy it too.

Summary

I will no longer listen to nor accept reviews from this site or magazine sites for that matter. the xbox is capable of far more than this the developers spewed out with this conversion.
"And why do you ask is the reason for my rattling?"
well it all started after reading noteworthy reviews of hitman 2. and noting all the exceptional scores abroad I dove in head first....and came up with a cracked skull.
After the initial purchase, and then logging numerous hours with this title. I have come to the following conclusions.
Developers are ripping us off...developers are not taking the xbox hardware seriously.....game reviewers are either retail marketers, publishers or sales poeple, or ignorant at best...never buy cross-platform titles.
I am learning to take the lowest common dominator of reviews. those with the lowest scores are usually dead-on.
those fakes who give games like hitman 2 all 5's or 10's are out of thier friggin' minds and liars to beat the band.
Hitman 2 fails because of it's lack of xbox quality graphics, animation and collision detection.
This game reminds me of jedi knight 2 outcast...and man did I hate that game. for all the same reasons. as I will explain down below.

Hitman 2's direction is great and overall polished. but because of it's sorely incompetant visual errors. I cannot suggest this game to anyone with half a brain. and if I did I would be a scamartist extrodinare. and for consumers to support inferior software like this only give developers more reason to make 'em quick, and cheap.
SAY NO TO LOWER GRADE!

Summary

Okay here is my overall take on hitman 2. as an avid gamer for well over two decades. and played it. done it attitude. I have seen games from all platforms and all genres. hitman 2 has alot of graceful potential that is just shy of perfection. the gameplay is complicated. involving stealth, accuracy, and intellect. many possible routes to reach an objective are presented. and while I have only played a little bit into the game so far so good....from the story, to the weapons, items and button layout.
it all seems rather tight. the only flaw is the targeting cursor. "how I wish they would have used a larger design...especially when on target. and if it possibly glowed a little from light to dark and vice versa. it would have been so much easier to hit targets with this simple layout.

Sound

Sound is pretty good, nicely atmospheric, and this is quite key to the whole game experience - sometimes you will know your in trouble from the background sounds before you can see what's going on, and you also get a sense of how noticeable your own actions are (very important for your stealth of course). So nothing spectacular in the sound itself, but it is well used as a complement to the game.

Gameplay

The principal aim of the game is to navigate your way around a series of levels, past guards, workers, rival assasins and perform some mission - generally involving someone else meeting an unfortunate end at your hands. How you wish to do this is fairly open-ended - it's not quite full freedom and there were times that I could think of a cunning plan, possible in reality, which was not possible in the game, but it comes pretty much as close as can be expected. On completion of each mission you are given ratings based on your stealth and agression, ranging from mass murderer (i.e. if you try and play the game as if it were Halo) to professional, and seeing as you can go and play Halo, or whatever else you want, with mass destruction as an aim it's a lot more fun (and challenging) to complete each level as a pro (this is very hard on professional difficulty, giving plenty of replayability). It is, for example, possible to complete one particular mission with the only violent action being a single knife stroke. This may not suit everyone, but I enjoyed this. A couple of minor downsides - the limited number of saves on each level, though with an ability to earn extras is fine, but no saves on the hardest difficulty should at least be coupled with more opportunities to earn extra saves, and it can be very frustrating when you've had 2 hours of meticulous gameplay spoiled by 1 foolish second...though true to life i suppose! Another point is that although you collect a vast array of weaponry during the game, most of it is useless if you want to play the game properly - a silenced pistol, knife and fibre wire will get you through almost any mission, except those requiring a sniper rifle, in which case you can it up during the mission anyway!
Overall though, gameplay was well thought out, and stylishly executed.

Summary

Hitman 2 is a challenging, very fun, gore-filled set of assignments that will keep you coming back for quite a long time, due to the great gameplay and multiple ways to carry out a mission.
In carring out your missions, (25 or so in all) you have plenty of fire-power and mission specific equipment such as remote-controlled bombs, GPS trackers, nightvision, security key cards, ect ect ect...After your mission brief you can select what weapons you want to bring with you, even though there is usually a drop point where the agency will provide you with the necessary tools for the job. Usually the best method is sneaking around but sometimes I found it easier to blast my way around and rush to make a kill. Some levels wont allow that because your target will get nervous and flee the scene, leaving you to chase him before he reaches a get-away car or even a helicopter. BUT, if you've already planted a bomb on their vehicle, I guess that doesnt matter, does it? :P
There is also a nice garden area before your missions where you can use all your weapons you have collected during your missions. These weapons are stored in a shed for easy access when needed.
The garden area is very interactive. For instance, I looked up and saw some birds flying way up in the sky....SO, I started shooting up at them and next thing you know, I hit a bird and you can watch it actually fall to the ground. You can also see the difference in bullet speed from gun to gun. Shooting lights out looks/sounds cool too. This game is very true to a virtual world, and it plays this part with few true adversary.

Sound

The sound is good, as weapons sound as they should, and the peoples voices are clear and unrobotic by any means. The only downfall to the sound is that while you are in mission the game seems much quieter then when you are in mission brief, leaving you to adjust the volume on your TV as a mission is completed. Other than that, I hear no problems at all.

Gameplay

Gameplay is complex yet not, as your controls will become like second nature within your first few hours of playing. The default layout is great, but if you want you can modifiy it to suit your nature of play.
In game, there are three levels of difficulty: NORMAL, HARD, and PROFESSIONAL. On normal level, the easiest of the three, your enemy's AI isnt very sharp but it isnt dull either. You are quite out-numbered anyway so it pretty much evens out to a nice challenge, which sometimes can seem quite hard. The other levels of difficulty make up for any loss of AI and leave you with a challengeing game of cat and mouse.
Each level allows in-game saves, so when you die, (you WILL DIE A LOT) you can choose to load from your last save, versus starting over. There is some limit to the amount of saves you can make per level, but this is an amount you will probably never exceed. BUT, just in case, the game will reward you with additional saves as you progress through the mission.
The missions will probably take you anywhere from an hour on up to three or so, to complete in a satisfactory manor (REMEMBER: There are like 25 misisons!!!). There is usually more than one task at hand in each mission, and can usually be carried out in any order. The order you do things will change the way the mission plays out. This is another way the replay value remains high, since you can do whatever you want to complete your mission, as long as you do. In the end, victory will be attainded if you are good enough to achieve it.

Sound

The classical music fits the mood of the story pretty well. Enemies speak in their own languages, which adds to the realism for a change (splinter cell, retarded stereotypical accents). The amount of cursing that goes in the game is pretty high too. Russian, German and Italian curses were pretty obvious those are the ones I could easily understand. The commentary in Russian was pretty hilarious all the slang and funny curses were used. So if you speak another language you will enjoy the sound even more.

Gameplay

The gameplay is actually something you have control over. You can go through many levels like maniac shooting everything that moves. Some of course you are forced to use stealth. At the same time you can pass the game by being a ghost. You can pass a level with just one kill. The ability to wear your victim's clothes is a ton of fun. At the same time you can find clothes just lying around, pick them up and put them on.

Sound

The people sounds are not good. When the maids are terrified she'll be repedative.
The hitman though is pretty cool because of his voiced but thats not the reason why it has a good grade but the music is great.
The oprha music is cool. Its not the lame type of oprha but the creepy resident evil italian mobster kind of oprha.

Gameplay

most people say quote "You can do everything you want!" unqoute. That is a lie. But dont get me wrong most of the things are mveable but you cant do everything like throwing chair or any super freaky things like that.
I must say that the AI is really cool. You can change into costumes and if you look a little bit suspicous the enemy will be all confused and say stuff like "hmmm" and if you run or do anything just alittle bit crazy they'll nail ya forsure. Especially on professinal mode.
The game looked short. In the booklet it placed 6 different cities and i thought there were only 6 levels. Not true. There are like 25 levels that if you put enough stealthful pride in your work it could take about an hour each maybe even more cause beleive me you'll die.
Lets not forget sexual themes. No hitman does not have sex but there are alot of nudity in the game especially in the jacuzzi job.
There are alot of weapons. lets just put it that way. you get like 25, 30 weapons in the whole
game. and try to get as many weapons in a level so you can put them in you shed for later use.
and more thing, the level has more than one objective. Like in the first level you have to get the key from somebody by, well duh, killing him and who knows who that person is it could be anybody. Than you have to get the car key. same with the last key and soforth.

Sound

the sound varies in the moment. when a guard is nearby and you are about to get discovered, the beat and the intesity of the sound picks up, but if you are just strolling around the park, the sound is mellow and just plays in the background and you won't pay much attention to it. when the sound picks up, you can tell if you are being approached by a guard, and if you should be on your guard or not. sound is given to everything. the flapping of birds wings can be heard, the echo of a gunshot in a tunnel can be heard, with the sound coming after a couple of seconds to show the reality. with dolby 5.1, the sound offered in this game would be great.

Gameplay

the gameplay is great. the unlimited amount of freedom given to the hitman, known as 47 throughout the game, gives it a feeling of reality. with the ability to change into others clothes to hide/disguise yourself, and the ability for silent killing, the options are endless. you can go on a rampage, or you can sneak around like a rat without anybody noticing you. the AI is also great. in the normal diffuculty level, the guards don't notice you easily, and won't notice at all if stayed a significant distance away from, but when placed on hard, the disguises and the ease with the mission is completed is gone. on hard diffuculty, the missions take about an hour to complete, which can be frustration becasue you can't charge on an assult becasue you will be killed, and you'll have to wait for the guards to pass by so that you can run behind them. the storyline is a little awkward with teh saving of a friendly priest, but when playing, you don't really care about the priest. this game is similiar in ways to splinter cell by using the stealth to move about, but is also similar to halo with the ability to charge head on. both of these combined allow this game to be 50$ well spent.

Sound

The soundtrack is very good, the sound effects are topnotch. My only gripe is that sometimes the tracks skip and sometimes smtg happens and you can't hear the sound effects but these are rare.
In fact everything about the game smells quality and dedication but the only little problem is the occasional glitches. The sound gliches are the most common ones. That is why I am lowering a point from sound.
Overall though this is a game that has true open ended play.

Gameplay

You can pretty much do anything. The main gameplay mechanism is to disguise as other people though. So you try to silence guards, soldiers,... and take their clothes, come close to your target, take him down silently and leave silently. If you really try to play as a hitman rather than a mass murderer, this game is increadibly long. And with the replay value of the missions this is the

Summary

So many good games out for the xbox and so little time, but when its time to play a videogame. Hitman 2 is the game to play when I do have time. I've played other games like Splinter Cell and Metal Gear 2. Hitman 2 in my mind is the cream of crop. I like game where you can explore big environments, exacute stealth kills, have shootout rampages, and complete mission in anyway I want. Hitman 2 lets me do that like no other game. The controls are perfect, very easy to play. Killing bad guys never felt this good before. The graphics give me the feel of a manga/anime movie stlye, its got that realistic cartoony look, I like it. The sound is alright it could've been little bit better with some more dramatic/uptempo background music for certain levels but it still good I like it. Hitman 2 should be on everybody's Christmas list this holiday season.

Sound

Some of the best sound ever in an action game. First, the gunshots have a nice crisp, sharp sound. Not really explosive, but satisfying nonetheless. What is best about the sound, however, is the music. It is cinematic orchestral music played by the Budapest Symphony Orchestra. Although it is a little repetitive, it is astounding because its intensity rises and falls along with the intensity of the gameplay. It is beautiful music and it sets the mood for this game perfectly, giving it a somber but somewhat exotic feel. Well done.

Gameplay

Total freedom. There are no preconceived ways in which to carry out any of your missions - in other words, the computer doesn't "expect" you to carry out each kill in any particular way. For example, in the first mission, you're in Sicily and you have to murder a local Mafia don in his own home. How are you going to do it? Well, you can try to sneak in the compound by stabbing a flower delivery man, putting on his clothes, and walk right in as if you were delivering flowers to the don. Or you could sneak up behind a bodyguard, strangle him with a wire, put on his clothes, and get in that way. Or, as many of you Quake fans out there will do, you can charge right up to the front gate with dual .44 Magnums and blow the two gate guards to pieces. Once you get into the compound, you have to find the don, which is tough because the compound and mansion is swarming with bodyguards. Apparently, the game rewards you for being stealthy in your missions, in the form of unlockables, although I haven't gone far enough into the game to unlock anything. However, if you want to go in will all guns blazing, you can! I tried being stealthy in the first mission, but after about ten tries, I got frustrated, so decided to go charging right into the don's mansion, shooting anything that moved. I got a kick when I saw a couple of innocent chambermaids walking down the stairs - I pulled out my dual magnums and blew one of them to pieces, while I stabbed the other one in the stomach with my knife. Soon after,
