Hitman 2: Silent Assassin for Xbox Videos >>
Summary I usually read the reviews of a game before I buy it.In the case of Hitman 2 I did not because I thought I thought the concept of the game was interesting. It did not disappoint.Sound Sound was also very good.Gameplay It plays alot like Metal Gear Solid and the controller setup is easy to get used to because it is similar to Halo. You have to use stealth on many occasions over firepower then drag the dead bodies to a location where they will not be seen by the other guards, mafia etc...very cool feature. You will also have to take some of your unsuspecting victims clothes off and wear them to get around the different areas unnoticed....also very cool.I only have a few hours into this game but I can tell early on this is a must have xbox game.Would you like to Comment? Summary sneak up on 'em, and kill 'em. the stealth aspect makes this game deeper than the typical shooter, and the environments add that little extra that i have never experienced in a console game. just walking into a ballroom party like you belong there with the full intentions of killing two people and stealing their goods, doing it, and then walking out the front door like nothing happened puts this game in a catagory all by itself. the controls are very well done, not quite as easy to control as halo, but very close, with a great deal more actions available to boot. kick ass game.Sound very cool music, althought i turn the music off so i can hear the gibberish the vic's are screaming when i am killing them. the voice acting is superb.Gameplay wide open gameplay. you figure out a way to beat the level, and then execute it. lets see, walk in blasting, or sneak in cutting throats, or cop some dude's outfit and then blend in before zooming in for the kill....etc. very replayable. worth a hard look, and what can i say...i bought it.Would you like to Comment? This game is good and all dont get me wrong, but they did things that really make this game worse than the first one. In the first one when u killed a guy and took his clothes without anyone else knowing u could easily walk around in an enemy base and no one would really suspect a thing. But in this friggin game u put on someone elses clothes it doesnt really matter. u walk within 20 ft of a guard or something and they'll almost always run up to ya looking for id which of course u never have so they start attacking. they made this game to "realistic" i guess which took alot away from teh fun. i dont know hteres not as much of a stealth element in this game. And the level designs were better in the first one. i dont know the first one was just plainly alot funner than this one. in the second one i nearly always resort to just running around guns ablazing instead of trying to be stealthy cuz it takes waaaaay to long to do that(the sneak walk is so friggin slow the only way u could sneak up on someone is if they are standing still for a long time, and everyone is almost always moving so its useless)Sound sound is alright, the gun shots are weak and that friggin alarm sound gets annoying but the music is pretty good.Gameplay im just really ticked off that i cant walk aorund in someone elses clothes and have everyone else think im that person like in the first one. that was so much fun cuz then u could easily sneak up behind someone and choke them and hide their bodies, but nope the developers decided to make it a whole hekc of a lot harder to do that in this sequel.Would you like to Comment? Summary Excellant. Nice graphics, great gameplay and good sound. Killing people (at least in games) is an enjoyable experience. It's especially so in Hitman 2. You must use stealth and extreme violence to succeed. Every level can be studied and mastered at your discretion.Sound Sound is actually pretty nice. Gunshots don't sound HUGE because they're not over-amplified. They are realistic cracks and pops. Voices are fine. Everything works...for the most part. I keep having the music skip on me, but it only happens a few times every couple of hours.Gameplay This is the best part. Every level provides you with maps of every different area within and shows you where all of your enemies are. It can be slow, for sure, but I find studying my targets' movements and the layouts of my environments to be greatly involving. It really adds to the sense of accomplishment you have when you pull off your hits. Being about 6'4", bald, almost albino and having a huge barcode across the back of your skull SHOULD make it hard to blend in. I do think the sneak functions are too slow, though.Would you like to Comment? Join VideoGameReview for a free account, or Login if you are already a member. Summary The first question I usually ask about a single player only game is, is the game worth anything beyond renting a few times. I just rented the game last night and I have not beat the game yet, but I can tell you theres only a few single player games on the xbox worth a purchase and this is one of them. I was looking at the reviews on this website yesterday(I visit this site alot), and saw the reviews on this game so I went up to hollywood video and they just happen to be putting it on the shelf, so I grabbed it mission accomplished. Even though I truly think you wont regret purchasing this game, it doesnt hurt to rent it first like I did. This is not a must buy game, but a huge must play. On to the good stuff..Sound Well, I dont have much to say about the sound. It gets the job done, but nothing spectacular. The guns sound great thoughGameplay This game has is par with Halo for fun factor IMO. The amount of ways to take on your mission seems endless, its really fun to play smart and plan. Theres some really nice guns in the game too, and they look and sound sweet. Gameplay is just sweet, this game does the James Bond stuff perfect. You can play like a maniac and kill everything that moves, or you can take it slow and sneak around but anyway you play it kicks butt.About the control, its awesome considering the limitations of a controller vs a mouse/keyboard setup. When selecting weapons it can be difficult, you have to hold a button and cycle thru your items. Its not a major problem but it can get annoying at times. Aiming feels alright, the default sensitivity was a bit too tight for me but after toning it down a bit it feels alright. You can push down on the left stick to make aiming more precise which is a nice feature. I really like being able to play in 1st person view, very cool. Would you like to Comment? Some people won't "get" this game, and that's ok. But me, I'd put it up there with the best gaming has to offer. Sound The music and sound effects are awesome, although some of the voice actors are plain garbage and could of been impoved upon.Gameplay I think many will agree Hitman 2 is the type of game that just gives you a refreshingly different "feeling", or experience when you play it, and that's a welcome commodity in these days of the "one man vs the entire world/kill everyone that moves" game design. It's hard to explain why sneaking around in a videogame is thrilling, but it is. .....It's also like the difference between Rambo (bideo game equivilent: Quake, Doom, etc.) and James Bond (Hitman) - which one would you rather play? - or watch, even? The answer to that question is a good gauge on whether or not you should give this game a go.Hitman 2 feels less like a 3rd person shooter, and more of an actual killer-for-hire simulation...well, "hollywood style", at least. It's a blast to interact with the impressive AI (quirks and all), and the game has a lot of replay value: You can go back to an older level after you've gotten a new weapon and try to use it to complete the mission using an ENTIRELY different strategy. Now that's replay value. I'm constantly laughing my ass off with this game as well...some of the interactions you have with the NPCs are priceless. A little imagination on your part will have you screwing around in the game more than trying beat levels. To me, that's the design of a classic game. Plus, you get to sneak up from behind and choke people a lot, and drag naked corpes and dump them in pools and sewers. That's always a hoot, too. Controls are finiky and confusing at first, but soon you get the hang of it, and you'll actually be impressed how many commands they crammed on this pad, as well as how agile and useful the camera is. Summary I usually won't buy a game before renting, but after reading some reviews I took the plunge. I DID NOT REGRET IT. This game is really hard but because of all the different ways to play the levels I actually wanted to start the entire level over after fudging something at the end just so I could get a good rating. Very fun with just a few minor cons.Sound Very nice intro. Didn't really notice the music during the game since I was so tied up in trying to cap some fool, but isn't that the point? Voices and sound effects are natural and not the least bit irritating. I think they actually used professional voice people instead of their drinking buddies.Gameplay I was wary about this game after renting Dead to Rights, which I played for 20 minutes, put back in it's case, and never touched again until I took it back to the video store a week later. Hitman 2 is WAY better, though. You actually have to use some brain power for this game, as opposed to running around blindly and shooting unlimited hordes of charging idiots. You are rewarded for taking it slow and easy and causing as little collateral damage as possible (but then again, you really aren't punished for killing everything that crosses your path, as long as you do it discreetly). Easy controls and a choice between first and third person view are big plusses. The only problems I had were with the weapons. Most times I either didn't realize I was out of ammo or I simply couldn't get another weapon out fast enough when my cover was blown. The pistols are hard to shoot rapidly, making it difficult to put 3 or 4 shots into someone before they can open fire on you. Aiming is a real beeatch, also. Most head shots are luck and you might as well plan on unloading half a clip with anything but the shotgun. Maybe with practice it will improve. Would you like to Comment? I have only been playing around with the first level, and already, I absolutely love this game. There are so many ways that you can accomplish an adjective, and the enemy A.I. is great. I mean to start off, I killed this delivery boy and walked through the main gate. Then all of a sudden all of these guys, started shooting at me, and I couldnt figure out why they were shooting at me and then the next time, I decided to take his groceries with me in the gate. ANd then, no one seemed to really notice me. What I am saying is that the enemy A. I. is great in this game and they notcie every little thing about you. Stop reading this and go out and by this game!Sound The sounds and music in this game are ten out ten. The music is spectactular which fits quite nicly with the spectactular sounds.Gameplay The controls may feel a little awkward at first, but with the ability to switch between first and third person pers., it feels right at home. It is easy to kill people in this game, but not to hard. It is kinda hard, but in a good way, in that metal gear difficulty way. I am thouroghly impressed with this game. Believe me, I am also an extremely picky gamer.Would you like to Comment? Join VideoGameReview for a free account, or Login if you are already a member. Summary Solid play built around an interesting character and surprisingly unusual premise. You play a retired assassin brought back into active duty after your friend, a priest, is kidnapped. Your missions take you around the world to a variety of exotic locations where you send a variety of underworld type figures to hell with a righteous vengeance. Overall, the game has an excellent hybrid of stealth and action, leaving it up to the individual gamer, his/her choices, and the reactions of the characters in the game to decide the fate of the mission. This freedom is the greatest asset of the game and every mission has a number of ways to complete the objective, either through force or stealth or both. There are a few niggling flaws that prevent a perfect score, but the overall strength of the game would make it a 4.5 rather than a 4. There are some weak elements: the fiber wire/sneaking up on people in general is somewhat poor. I don't like that you don't get to pick your insertion point at the start of a mission. I don't like the fact that you don't always get to pick your gear before the start of your mission or that your aren't aware of the alternative means of assassination until you stumble across them. In other words, I would like to a be a bit more "professional" than it currently is. You're more like a highly skilled thug than a strategist and I think that misses the point just a bit. Overall, still a great game.Sound Solid. All of the sound effects are fine, the voice acting seems top of the line, and the music is generally superb. Captures the mood of the game perfectly.Gameplay Very solid controls. You have the option of 3rd or 1st person, though 3rd is much more useful except in rare occasions. Shooting is responsive and free, adding some challenge and not just throwing a targeter on the enemy and making you push a button to kill him. There is a great variety of weapons, though a lot of them seem highly repetitive and a matter of personal choice rather than performance. Stealth is well captured, but sneaking up on people is unnecessarily difficult at times. I would've like to have seen better work in hiding in shadows and smoother sneaking movement and ambushing. Right now, it's below my expectation, especially since the garrote is so neat to pull off that I would like to be able to do it more often. Overall, the game performs well, no glitches that I experienced. The AI is reasonable, but not perfect. Sometimes you will scratch your head as to why enemies react the way they do and sometimes they revert to killbots that have no concern for their safety. Overall, they react as well as could be hoped.Would you like to Comment? Join VideoGameReview for a free account, or Login if you are already a member. Summary Well, i just finished Hitman 2 no longer than five minutes ago, and i must say, nice. I was thouroughly pleased with the game. From its immersive score, to its eye pleasing backdrops, Hitman 2 keeps you interested from start to finish. I am a HARDCORE Hitman fan, and when the first game got a lot of sh** (which i didnt agree with), i knew IO would rise to the challenge. And they certainly did.Sound The musical score by Jesper Kyd is amazing. really adds atmosphere to the setting. plus the music is dynamic, and sort of gives a feeling of suspense when the drumroll speeds up. One thing i REALLY liked is that they used a lot of the original sounds from Hitman 1. most ppl would say this is cheap. I say no. it completely makes the world of hitman1 and 2 the same. you start to remember back when you were slaughtering swat team members in an insane asylum, and you think, yup, thats what the door sounded like. very effective. overall, great sound.Gameplay Excellent. I found the controls to be very responsive, except for one small thing. in order to pick your weapons you have to open a menu, which pauses the game. But this is easy to get right with practice. Missions were complex, and thought provoking. Even though i have beat Hitman a million times, i still had to reach into my banks of contract killer knowledge in order to figure out some of these puzzles. One HUGE thing, the AI is soooooo much more touchier than Hitman 1. If you even stand around too long, they get suspicious, and this really presented a challenge. all of your mannerisms are observed, and you know it. it gives an edge and a tension to the gameplay.Would you like to Comment? Summary First off I never played the first Hitman but after playing this game for fifteen minutes I was kicking myself for not trying the first one. I would discribe this game as a combination of MGS2 and GTA3.In the game you play a assassin that is so bad that he's good and you find yourself having to decide when to sneak around and when to go all out and kill everyone in your way. Hitman is in no way a easy game and can be difficult at times, but in many ways it makes the game fun. Pick this game up and you will not be disappointed. Sound The sound is great and the music performed is the best I have heard in any game.Gameplay Gameplay is excellent you can toggle from third person view to first person view any time during the game. This give the gamer a better view of the many different situations you will find yourself in. Gameplay is smooth and dosen't lag during play at all. The only problem with the gameplay is that you have to go into a different menu to change weapons and sometimes this takes from the experience.Would you like to Comment? I almost passed on this game thinking it was another lousy port, but I was very wrong.Sound Sound is good and does well to add to the overall gameplay. No quips here.Gameplay This game plays as a thinking mans action game. There re so many ways a mission can be handled that I find myself spending many minutes studying maps and planning my method for completing a mission. The game does a great job of immersing you into the play, making you feel as though you are the hitman. The additional 1st person mode is a great feature and is very much playable(though the lean out move is unfortunately unavailable in this mode)and can be easily switched to by pressing the white button. One last note refering to the last review. You do not have to go to the weapon select menu to change weapons because this can be easily done by holding down the x button and scrolling through while never leaving the game.Would you like to Comment? Review Date 10/12/2002 Overall Rating ![]() 5 of 5 Rate this review? Summary Never before on xbox have I experienced the sheer thrill of stealth. Not since MGS, or even more so, Goldeneye on the 64!!! One of the best games to come out in a while, and thank god it did. Tight controls, excruciatingly addicting gameplay, phenomonal sound, the guns, oh good heavens, the guns!!!!! Read on, I appologize for the length, but if you are even considering a rental-this is the one to get. (I bought it as soon as I saw it, but hey thats me).Sound Su-f'n-Perb! Home-theater buffs rejoice-digital is the way to play this game. Regular tv's are (believe it or not) just fine-though I prefer to hear my shells linking behind me on the wet floor.Guns tear through the air, people speak in native tounges-(really cool effect-it really has not been that much-minus castle-wolfenstien/medal of honor) Music-my god. The Budapest Symphony Orchestra-with "active music" which changes depending on if you aren't noticed, to when you are in a fire-fight, and everywhere between. Seriously sets the mood for this fantasticly tense game. Gameplay Easy controls (for both classic and new style controllers)-that are simple, feel correct, and respond well. The analog control have never played such a prominent role (since MGS on psx!) in ANY xbox game. Slighty pushing it causes 47 to creep eerily-while a full push will have him running the gammut.Gunfights are hyper-simple, and painfully realistic. With accurate models of 25+ real weapons, and all of the favorites are here: the MP5 from die hard, the desert eagle from snatch, ak47 ala goldeneye, the classic sniper rifle, dual berretas-(oh god yes I said "dual")-along with a fancy collection of axes, knives, golf clubs....Hoo-boy. Missions are straightforward: "seak up on target-eliminate"-BUT you (the player) has the option to do so as quietly, or ruthlessly. Players are (of course) rewarded on steath-but you can return to previously completed missions, using the guns you find from later levels, to make it that much simpler to defeat stealthily (not even a word). Changing into your fallen foes attire is also possible, and essential if you want to go unnoticed (need to sneak into a house of a billionare to gat-him? kill his butler and take the tux- as soon as the "master" calls for jeeves-bust a cap in his mellon-piece.) sweet. The game is not perfect but it is fun and entertaining along the lines of MGS and Golden Eye.Sound Good. Sound track isn't bad. Voice acting is ok. When your heart beats it sounds like someone knocking on a piece of cheap lumber...I think that could have been betterGameplay Gameplay is addictive. Its not easy so you get drawn in and find yourself coming back again and again. Stealth and carefully thinking out your plan is vital. Running in guns blazing will get you dead fast...it does not work. Following someone to closely raises suspiscion quickly as does running, even walking the wrong way or not picking up a disguise. You have to really analyze your situation and figure whats going to work. The game play is completely non-linear. You are often provided with tools that allow more than one way to complete your hit/mission. Time is also a factor is some cases..take to long and your target leaves. You need to move quickly and quietly and using weapons like knives and the fibre wire are essential in some cases. Controls aren't bad once you get the hang of it. Two annoying things 1.It's too hard to get down sewers quickly when you need too 2.When you sneak up on someone and try to knife them or strangle them sometimes you miss and you're right freaken behind them!Would you like to Comment? Summary This is a really fun, great looking, addictive game. The game is one of the hardest I have played in a long time. On normal mode you can go threw a level and kill everyone no problem, but what makes the game so hard is trying to go threw a level and be sneaky. You really have to think about what you are going to do to be stealthy, thats what makes the game so hard. You have to be a great shot, and know what you are doing at all times because one slip up will cause the guards to know you are there. The story is really good and seems like a action movie. But the game is really fun and a great game to buy for shooter fans and MGS fans.Sound The sound is really good as well. I really love the music in the game and I want to get the soundtrack that is being released. I love the song at the game menu. The music has a great feel to the game. The weapons sound pretty real when you shoot them. The enemys say different things but not alot. It would have been kool when you sneak up on like 2 guards and they are talking about different things.Gameplay The gameplay is pretty easy. You just have to take time to get used to it. At first when I played the game I couldn't sneak around for nothing. The only why I was beating missions was just going threw killing everyone. After you play the game some more you will learn how to do everything and what you should or shouldn't do and then you should be able to go threw and have a stealth and very little aggression on a level. Between each level it shows how much aggression and stealth you used. One level I had all stealth and just 1/10 aggression and it game me the name (something) Ninja. It is pretty easy to shoot somebody and use all the items you have. And its really fun killing someone, taking there cloths, then draging there body and hidding it.Would you like to Comment? IE when gong super sneaky, it creates more noise acrose a wooden floor than regular sneaky. I would'nt really consider myself a gamer, but i still know this is a great game. evrything is tight. i guess my only gripe is that the levels are so barren of interactive materials. also it would be kind of cool if 47 smoked when left alone for a realy long period of time.Sound very tenseGameplay game play is great, similar to halo (which is good) in controls, and firing, which feels so completely natural, i diddnt read any reviews of this game, just saw the commercial, and i was really hoping the controls would be like halo. Also a slight addition for next time, the slow-mo matrix dive thing from max payne would be a superb touch. and whats up with no jumping i mean really a real person would jump.Would you like to Comment? If you were thinking about buying Turok: Evolution, save yourself the nausea and buy this game. The thinking and strategy involved makes this an instant classic. Go ballistic or go stealth or mix it up. Any route you choose to complete each mission will be a satisfying experience, guaranteed! Although difficult at first, you will catch on fast. This game meets my "HALO Standard" with ease.Sound Can I praise this game any more? Yes I can! Sounds are very realistic. When the Hitman is walking through the snow on the second mission, it actually sounds like he is walking on snow! Great music, too!Gameplay Player control is great! Easy, intuitive controls are easy to grasp. It is a bit weird when selecting an action though. I don't understand why you have to hold down the button, then release it to select the command. Why not just select the action then hit the button? Whatever, it still works for me.Choosing the manner in which to complete each level is also pretty incredible! There must be six or seven ways to complete the first level alone. Looking for exciting gameplay? Then look no further. Satisfaction is guaranteed! Would you like to Comment?
