Summary When I read about this game in some of the video game mags I was under the impression that this game would be mediocre at best so I was in no hurry to purchase it. I think the mags gave it 3 out of 5 stars and complained about the graphics clipping and how difficult it was to jump and land where you want to. Well, when I found it at Half.com for under $20 I decided to give it a shot since I have grown up a Star Wars fan. This game is what a video game should be - Fun. There is nothing sweeter than reflecting a Battle Droid's lasers back at him. (You have to push block a split second before the laser hits you). Some of the stages are a little repetitive but over-all the game is a "blast" :). If Episode I did not turn you completely off to the Star Wars universe, than you have to give this game a shot.Sound The laser and lightsaber sounds are dead-on. The music is also superb.Gameplay The jumping can get a little difficult at times (like the 9th and 10th stage) but everyone needs a challenge once and a while. It has a few problems (like jumping and then dying for no apparent reason) but what game doesn't. Even the two-player battle mode is fun for a while.Would you like to Comment? Also, make sure you know how to use your lightsaber to block, it's important. Start the game as character Obi-Wan or Qui-Gon, they're the best and the easiest. Overall the game is pretty easy.Sound Sound is PERFECT. Classic star wars music and lightsabers sound effects awesome.Gameplay Gameplay is great. Sometimes the camera angle can get far away but it is needed sometimes to see your surroundings. Some of the characters you play as are a little slow getting their moves off, but most have quick good jabs. It also seems someone has taken away the lightsabers power, having to take sometimes 4 to 5 hits on a droid or being. Also, I don't remember droids having the ability to block the lightsaber.Would you like to Comment? Join VideoGameReview for a free account, or Login if you are already a member. Summary First let me say that I am a big Star Wars fan. Now that doesn't mean I will go out and buy every Star Wars video game ever made. I am still a video game fan and the game better be good for me to spend money on it and this game is fantastic. I couldn't put this game down. This game makes you feel like you are taking part in the movie. The levels that you fight through are well done and stay true to the Stars Wars theme. I have only fought through 2 of them and I had a great time fighting through them as Obi-Wan. You can also chose from 4 other Jedi-knights with each one of them bringing their different talents to the game. If you are not ready to play through the levels than there is training mode where you can practice being a Jedi or you can go into Vs. mode and fight another Jedi Knight to practice your light sabre fighting abilities. Too bad you can't fight as Darth Maul though. The object of each level is to fight through the droids, robots, etc and reach the end where you will fight a boss to get to the next level. You have only your sabre to chop them up and you can also reflect the laser blasts back at the droids, just like the movie! Real intense fighting action!Sound Without a doubt, this is where the game shines. If I could give this a higher score than a 5, I would. Everything sound from the movie is here. The sound of your light sabre as you strike an opponent. The sounds of laser blasts being shot you. The soundtrack of the movie in the background. This is where this game shines. it recreates the whole Star Wars mood for you hardcores out there. PERFECT!Gameplay The gameplay is intense. With droids caoming at you at all times you will need your Jedi reflexes to block their lasers and chop them up into little droid pieces. You can also do combos too. There are power-ups,checkpoints,items and healing items along the way to help you in your quest to get to the ultimate level and fight Darth Maul. You have the force at your disposal also to rid yourself of your foes also. Using of the force at the right time get rid of pesky enemies if you find yourself in a nasty fight by smashing them into pieces. Of cousre you have acquire items along the way that will make the force stronger in you. The game play is intense! A MUST game for a Stars Wars fanatic and must for a videogame fan.Would you like to Comment? Join VideoGameReview for a free account, or Login if you are already a member. Rating Reviewed By Chris UtleyFrom Cincinnati, OH Review Date 10/23/2000 Overall Rating ![]() 3 of 5 Rate this review? Summary Jedi Power Battles is an average game for the hardcore gamer. If you are a Star Wars fan, I'd suggest you go buy it. If you are a casual fan or hardcore gamer, rent it.Sound The Soundtrack is what you would expect from John Williams and Star Wars. Awesome. It gets me jacked-up to play every single time.Gameplay Jumping is a fairly important part of this game, and it's seems to be more difficult than it needs to be. I find it somewhat annoying, but it's apparently not as bad as the PS1 version. The missions are fairly interesting, and the action is quite intense at times.Would you like to Comment?
