Sound

Best part of the game (sans playing as Samuel L. Jackson). Realistic (can I say that?) lightsaber and blaster sounds create an entirely emersive effect. The music is also wonderful, as it is John Williams' score directly taken from the movie.

Gameplay

If I could sum up the gameplay in one word it would be "buggy". Although you can't beat playing as two jedi, the physical detection in the game absolutely sucks. For example, in Courusant there are multiple jumps from one platform to another. "Not a problem" you might say, but wait until you try landing on a PERFECTLY FLAT surface only to fall through to your doom. Also, in many levels you must protect people and make it until the end. You have to save Queen Amidala, young Anikan, and guess who... Jar Jar. Now, if you or droids or any other creature tries to harm the Queen or Anikan, the person you are protecting will eventually die. If you or droids or any other creature tries to kill Jar Jar, he simply runs right through them! That's right, you CANNOT KILL JAR JAR BINKS! This is perhaps one of the biggest game flaws I have ever witnessed...

Sound

John Williams is a master. This soundtrack absolutely rocks. The lightsaber sounds and the laser blasts make it sound like you are in the movie. The voice acting wasn't very good. Thankfully dialogue is minimal. However, I thought it was really cool that they were able to get Jake Lloyd and Ahmad Best to lend their voices to the game (even though Jar-Jar is kind of annoying.)

Gameplay

Frustrating at times (example: Coruscant!), but very, very fun. Some of, okay a lot of the jumps are just plain tough. Sometims it looks like you are going to land safely from a jump and then you see yourself falling to your death. Sometimes the hit detection is not the greatest either. Some of the bosses are kind of cheesy. But this game is just so much fun. Combos are cool. Most of the force powers rock. (A couple of them kind of suck.) Powerups are plentiful and nicely spaced. Lot's of hidden stuff to find. (Ultimate saber mode anyone?) Hacking up battledroids, deflecting blaster shots, fighting Darth Maul, fun, fun, fun. The experience points, leveling up, new combos, hidden characters, etc. really gives nice replay value.

Sound

The sounds must have been sampled right from the movies. The effects are all simply perfect. If you have seen any of the the Star Wars movies, you have heard the effects in the game already.

The same goes for music. I could put the cd for the movie "Episode I" in the cd player and not tell the differance from the movie in the game. Its that good. Its games like this that make me glad I've spent so much on stereo equipment.

Gameplay

The major thing they (the reviewers)had problems with were the jumps. Well, with a little practice in the training mode, they are no problem for the most part. A few places get a little difficult but that's part of the challenge. (Quit whining and practice.)

Once you get a few combos unlocked, fighting with the light saber is pretty fun but I really like the ability to deflect the enemy's blaster shots back at them. Again, it takes a little practice, but it gets easier as you build experiance points.

The Jedi powers take a little getting used to. (Still not sure what a few of them do.) Its just a matter of figuring out the best places and ranges to use them.

You also get to use a few vehicles. I particularly like the tank. Three differant weapons on it to use AND you can run them down.

Sound

No one cant complain about the sounds of any of the Star Wars games, even the games that sucked.
John William's music are always masterpieces, the Duel of The Fates playing in the background and fighting Darth Maul is so cool. Every level has a cool bg music. The lightsaber sound is awesome.
Star Wars: Episode 1: Jedi Power Battles has excellent sound effects and music.

Gameplay

This game has arcade roots, fast gameplay, and good controls unlike the PS version which sucked.
Fighting Darth Maul is a blast, its just like the movie. Nothing that easy or too hard in this game.
Replay value is good cuz you wanna unlock all the secret characters, I already unlocked Capt. Panaka (I think its his name), Darth Maul, and Ki-Adi-Mundi (Big headed guy). The only thing I found weird about this game is that Qui-gon is alive at the end, he died in the movie but not in the game, how come? Its not that bad but it sure is weird.

Summary

First let me say that I am a big Star Wars fan. Now that doesn't mean I will go out and buy every Star Wars video game ever made. I am still a video game fan and the game better be good for me to spend money on it and this game is fantastic. I couldn't put this game down. This game makes you feel like you are taking part in the movie. The levels that you fight through are well done and stay true to the Stars Wars theme. I have only fought through 2 of them and I had a great time fighting through them as Obi-Wan. You can also chose from 4 other Jedi-knights with each one of them bringing their different talents to the game. If you are not ready to play through the levels than there is training mode where you can practice being a Jedi or you can go into Vs. mode and fight another Jedi Knight to practice your light sabre fighting abilities. Too bad you can't fight as Darth Maul though. The object of each level is to fight through the droids, robots, etc and reach the end where you will fight a boss to get to the next level. You have only your sabre to chop them up and you can also reflect the laser blasts back at the droids, just like the movie! Real intense fighting action!

Sound

Without a doubt, this is where the game shines. If I could give this a higher score than a 5, I would. Everything sound from the movie is here. The sound of your light sabre as you strike an opponent. The sounds of laser blasts being shot you. The soundtrack of the movie in the background. This is where this game shines. it recreates the whole Star Wars mood for you hardcores out there. PERFECT!

Gameplay

The gameplay is intense. With droids caoming at you at all times you will need your Jedi reflexes to block their lasers and chop them up into little droid pieces. You can also do combos too. There are power-ups,checkpoints,items and healing items along the way to help you in your quest to get to the ultimate level and fight Darth Maul. You have the force at your disposal also to rid yourself of your foes also. Using of the force at the right time get rid of pesky enemies if you find yourself in a nasty fight by smashing them into pieces. Of cousre you have acquire items along the way that will make the force stronger in you. The game play is intense! A MUST game for a Stars Wars fanatic and must for a videogame fan.

Summary

When I read about this game in some of the video game mags I was under the impression that this game would be mediocre at best so I was in no hurry to purchase it. I think the mags gave it 3 out of 5 stars and complained about the graphics clipping and how difficult it was to jump and land where you want to. Well, when I found it at Half.com for under $20 I decided to give it a shot since I have grown up a Star Wars fan. This game is what a video game should be - Fun. There is nothing sweeter than reflecting a Battle Droid's lasers back at him. (You have to push block a split second before the laser hits you). Some of the stages are a little repetitive but over-all the game is a "blast" :). If Episode I did not turn you completely off to the Star Wars universe, than you have to give this game a shot.

Sound

The sound in this game is as you would expect from any Star Wars game out there. People the Star wars soundtracks are excelent and if you are an avid fan of Star Wars you should obviously own them all. Let's put it this way music in a game can either make it or break it. The sound track is easy to see as making the game rather than breaking it.

Gameplay

The gameplay of this game is almost limitless. I just can't get enough of this great title, and let me tell you many a bad grade have I gotten in the last month on account of this marvelouse game. The extra characters that are attained keeps the gamer playing again, and, agian, and agian. At this moment I have beten the game with every character on easy and jedi mode. I am now working on getting the extra levels and yes the ultimate saber.

Sound

The Sound is easily the greatest part of all the Star Wars games, but this is the one that really shines above all the others. The sound contained in this game is EXACTLY what it is in the movie. The light saber sounds are PERFECT. The voices are perfect and the extra little explosions and other sounds are just as good. I just wish I could give the sound a 10 out of 5.

Gameplay

The Gameplay is awsome. The thing I feel that what has been missing from a lot of games is a co-op mode with 2 or more people and this game includes a 2-player co-op mode. The 1-player mode is plenty of fun by itself but if you know any friends that have even heard of Star Wars then you better invite them over and tell them to bring a pack of clothes beacause you will be HOOKED on this game for a long time. The 2-player co-op mode is by far the funnest because it always helps to have a friend. The way the Jedi use the light sabers is so fluent. Another great aspect of the game is reflecting all those laser blasts back at the Battle Droids who fill almost every level in the game ( You have to hit the Left Trigger button on the side of the controller a split second before the blast hits you or 1 of 2 things happens, 1 your shot right in the chest by a laser blast, or 2 the blast goes flying off in some other direction.). Jumping is probably the hardest part of this game (or most annoying) but its not as bad as the PS version. Jumping has been the main complaint about this game but in the DC version they added a Training mode so you can brush up on the basic skills you use throughout the game.
