Sound

The sound, just like every other xbox game is in Dolby Digital and it does sound really great. I play my games on a Sony 53" TV with a $3000 Harmon Kardon Amplifier, Paradigm Speakers and Spidey uses everything. The game has really great sound separation. When a guy is coming up from behind it sounds really cool. The music is great, I am not sure if it Danny Elfmans soundtrack from the movie but it has a very super hero feel to it. Overall very impressive.

Gameplay

The gameplay is great. The advanced control scheme is a nice refresher from the old controls. It allows for a lot of specific controls. It does take a while to figure them all out but once you do...man its great to control Spidey flying through New York. The xbox controller seems a little big at the beginning as all the buttons seem a little too far apart, but just like the controls you will finally figure everything out. The training mode is great, having Bruce Campbell (Army of Darkness) talk you through the game is really cool, and it does help you out a lot later in the game.

Sound

The sound is a small complaint I have. Becuase any game's music gets repetive and annoying very fast, I usually turn off the game's music volume and just play with fx and ambient sounds turned on only. With Spider-Man it almsot seems that his world is in a air-less vacume becuase most of the time; indoors, you don't hear a lot of ambient noise--wich breaks the spell of enchantment.

Gameplay

Webswinging has never been so fun or seemed so realistic! New York looks great and the frame rate is even smoother at a constant 60fps. Though my biggest complaint is the camera movement--annoying and distracting. That is one big reason why I don't like 3rd Person Shooters and prefer First Person Shooters. But overall it is a great improvement from the previous Spider-Man game from Playstation One, especially the zip-line function, which is easier to aim and less akward to pull off.

Summary

Well being an owner of both Xbox and playstation 2 i waited anxiously for it to arrive at a local store. Well they only got the PS2 version which i bought because i am impatient, the next day the xbox version came in and i sold my PS2 version to him and went out and got the Xbox version. Now the PS2 controller seems much more adapted for this game but the Xbox is fine it just takes a little more practice. Also the xbox graphics are obviously head and shoulders above the PS2 version. Ive read of complaints of the camera. It can be tricky at times but you have a compass and height meter and as long as you use those then you will be fine and not lost. One little tip, if you height meter is even with your target and you are following your compass only to have it shift directions all of sudden then the target is below you. A very enjoyable game that follows the storyline of the movie i am very pleased with it and both versions are great. The lockon feature made popular by ZELDA is present and very useful to lock onto enemies. Like i said the learning curve will take you just a little while due to the xbox buttons being close and in all the chaos you might miss hit a kick button or punch button but after awhile it becomes second nature. go get this game if you are a spiderman fan.

Sound

This is the only part that doesn't really shine. The voice acting is good because it has Toby Mcguire of the spider-man movie doing the voice of spider-man. The music is necassary but can get annoying.

Gameplay

The gameplay is great. As I said before the camera can be tricky at times but not enough to frustrate. The outside levels are fantastic and one of the funnest of any game I have played. you can websling for long distances and fight in mid air. AWESOME!! this is what a real spider-man game should be like. Also when you are fighting crooks and thugs you can use many different types of attacks. You can also use stealth on the thugs. The best thing of all though is the extras that come with the Xbox version. You get 2 new levels and it includes the almighty and one of the most famous spider-man villians, Kraven the Hunter. No other version of Spider-man on any console has these extras. Since Spider-man was not planned for the xbox at first, I think it was Activisions way of apologizing the fans and adding something a little extra. So just that makes the xbox version the ultimate version of the game.

Sound

The sound is also pretty good, the music on some of the levels can get a bit annoying at times, but not nearly as bad as some other games. The voices are above average and lot better done than the original game(less cheasy). All in all though the sound effects good, the explosions, gunshots, etc.all sound great.

Gameplay

The controls in this game are amazing, You have a very large number of combos(they are unlocked as you progress in the game)that allow you to do things from webslinging to uppercuts, roundhouses, Throws, and you even get an ability where you can use swing your foes around in a circle and have them knock out other foes. The only slight problem that the game has at first is the camera, but after about 15 minutes into the game you will have it mastered. It is not nearly as bad as people say that it is.

Summary

Finally, a comic book hero has managed to be transferred over to a videogame in full glory. unlike multiple previous attempts, Spiderman succeeds where others have failed. Rather than make another one of those "look, a popular movie's coming out, let's hurry and rush a videogame out based on the same thing," Treyarch actually took time and effort to make this the great game that it is. They managed to accurately display Spiderman in all his lustor. He looks great as he swings from building to building, in the seemingly neverending New York City; while he performs amazing fighting techniques from his plethora of moves, and while he shoots web balls at various Marvel villains, etc. Also, this videogame went beyond the Movie's shadow- expanding upon it. The Green Goblin will be the only nemesis to SpiderMan in the movie, but in the game you can battle multiple bosses, including Shocker, Vulture, Scorpion, Kraven (Xbox version), and the Green Goblin himself. these villains were also beautifully portrayed. it's so fun to finally step into the costume and battle these foes for yourself!
Some people claim that the game is too easy. However, there are multiple difficulty levels and tons of cheats and achievements such as playing through the whole game as The Green Goblin's son, Harry. with the plot altered in these situations, it becomes basically two separate games in one box. So, as one can see, there is much fun to be had.

I do have one complaint with the game, though = the camera angles. Unfortunately, it's a minor complaint. At first, the camera angles are a little bothersome, (but only after a lot of first-person Halo or something ;) ), but you gradually begin to get used to the camera angles and eventually you don't even notice them. also, there are several techniques you can use to center the camera as well as changing it from 'Active' to 'Passive.' So there are ways 'around' this problem if for some reason you don't get used to it.

Great game, a must-buy.........4.9/5

Sound

Terrific!!! the voice-overs are GREAT!! i was happy that the actors in the upcoming movie actually helped out in the game. Toby Maguire and Willem DaFoe, both in the movie, lent their voices to their characters, Spiderman and The Green Goblin, respectively. Also, all the effects such as Spiderman's grunts when he gets hurt, windows breaking, and fire burning are all right on.

My only beef with the sound/voice overs in this game is this: Why didn't Kirsten Dunst do Mary Jane's voice in the game? I understand i should dock the game points for this, because it was her personal decision, but i really would've liked to hear her voice in the game!...........4.9/5

Gameplay

this is where the game really shines. Spiderman has never looked so good. the player can utilize dozens of classic Spiderman techniques, including loads of cool web tricks, while also making hand-to-hand combat look cool. those tricky camera angles are the only things that would bring the score down a bit..........4.8/5

Sound

Great sounds and sound effects from Spidey's quips to the web-line thwips. The voice talent, amazing with original voice-overs from Tobey Maguire (as Spider-Man) and Willem Dafoe (Green Goblin).
Also the Narrator for the training levels and general tips through the game is talented and funny Bruce Campbell best known for in the Evil Dead movies. The explosions and fight noises especially in the fights with the Green Goblin gives an element of realism that helps make the game hard to put down.

Gameplay

With 22 awesome levels and in addition to the Green Goblin, Spider-Man will have to face off against Shocker, the Vulture, and Scorpion plus random thieves and gang members, which means there’s a lot of villain butt-kicking to be had. The game being adapted from the new Spiderman movie adds to the N64, PC, PS Spider-Man game featuring a new combo system and 28 amazing and cool looking moves with 7 web attacks. With all the powers of Spider-Man at your disposal, whether it's beating the snot out of bad guys with cool moves, great strength and blurring speed or whipping around on a web, I really enjoyed this game. There where several times when the camera angles were tricky and annoying some of those times fighting bad guys could get very irritating. With new interesting and useful methods such as the 3-D Radar which is a compass and height meter, to the Camera Lock feature so no villain can hide for long , mixed with classic arachnid abilities make this game an addictive keeper. There is some replay ability trying to unlock new costumes and training levels. Ultimately one of the best if not the best Spider-Man games ever.

Sound

The sound was mediocre, just okay. The creators did not take advantage of the surround sound capability which would have made the game that much better. And the voice overs are terrible. I noticed that sometimes one person will be "talking" with sound coming out with no mouth movement whatsoever. Since when is that possible?

Gameplay

I have never been a Spiderman fan so i was suprised at how much I liked this game. I am happy that the story line could relate to people like me with no background knowledge like the fact that they actually introduced how the green goblin was created instead of just throwing him in the game like i was already suppossed to know what that was. that was very cool. However, i don't like the fact that if you mess up on a "mission" that you should just start over. In my opinion there should be alternate endings/consequences for not completing tasks. That would make the game that much cooler and would make me want to play it again to see what other ending i can obtain. But as it stands, someone who is a hard gamer can beat this in 4 hours. Now I got some cheats which let you play as other characters which seemed cool. But all that is is a different skin on spider-man, everybody still calls you Spidey and none of the villans' comments change towards you. THE GAME SHOULD BE LONGER IF SOMEONE IS SUPPOSED TO PAY $50.00 FOR IT. other than that, it was kool and the gang.
