Summary

WOW!!! That is almost the best you can say for this game. I bought this and it was the first I have played in the series and I didn't even expect it to be as good as it was. It's impossible to get bored of it. The replay value is infinite. There are so many things to do. Or as the quote goes... "So many places to see, so many people to kill." You play the game as Tommy Vercetti and you start out as a man that was betrayed but ends up as the ruler of Vice City. I just love this game and it's a lot of fun to go up on the roof and start a shootout. I know it's cheating but if you put in the weapons cheat and get the bazooka you will have the best time of your life blowing things away. There's got to be more than 100 missions and that's not including the extra missions(i.e. taxi, firetruck, ice cream...you'll figure that last one out hehehe) but there's so much to do and the city is just so massive. It's a lot of fun to get a hooker then when she gets out of the car kill her and get your money back lol. It's well worth what I payed for it. If I knew it was that good I would have bought it brand new so it would last longer.

Sound

The sound is unbelievable and I love the radio. When I first bought it I thought it was an actual radio. Some people think that it's repetitive but for as long as I've played it I've only heard the full script of three radio stations. By the way Kchat is one of the funnier stations. I just love that man-hating doctor.

Gameplay

You play as Tommy Vercetti and throughout the game you work to pay off your debt to Sunny who was your boss who's money you lost. You can drive around and shoot random people or you can go do missions for certain people to earn money. This game is a blast. I once played from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 a.m. It's that good. If you don't have it you should buy it. It's so good you don't even have to play it to enjoy it. My brother plays and I love to watch him go kill people or get insane stunt bonuses or drive a bus over a ramp and watch it fly. If your under 15 then it's probably not the game for you but if your older then it is a very enjoyable game.

Summary

Ok. Lets see. Well, I can easily say that this is more than any other ordinary video game. I caould easily say that this is the best thing that has ever came out of the 80's. Also I can say that this game is part of many gamers' lives. Possibly one of their biggest parts. This is definetly and absolutley without a doubt the greatest game ever created, no discussion!

Ok lets get to the point of the game then. Your name is Tommy Vercetti. A man who simply knows what he's doing. Apart from what happens in the intro that is. The game starts by Tommy, his lawyer (Ken Rosenberg), and two other guys to watch Tommy's back. The point of this is that Tommy has just arrived in a place of hope called Vice City. He is here to make an exchange of drugs and money for his boss, Sonny Foreli. The deal turns out to be a setup and only Tommy and Ken escape with the other two guys dead. Tommy then sets out the next day to sort out all of this mess. This is where you, the gamer comes in. At the same time of trying to get the money back, Tommy is set missions to do by all of the players from vice city. This is mainly for mony, or either that the people who are setting him these tasks say, "By me helping you, you must also help me". There'as they set you out to do their dirty work. These missions include assasains, bombs, car chases etc; Throuout this Tommy also meets a lot of new people including one of the main characters in the game, Lance. Lance says he can help you Tommy out and when the two of them are too far in, They set out together to take over the city themselves.

This is where the real fun starts. Tommy can now take over businesses. This is meer parts of their ways to start to take over Vice City. Yes this also provides new missions to keep you going for a very long time.

If all that isn't enough then there is also a lot more tasks ahead. Think you've finished? Think again. You also have to do at least 30 unigue stunt jumps before you can say your even near finished. Or find 100 hidden packages before 100% completion. There is also a lot more things like this to do like rampages which are simply mini-missions if you think your up to the task.

And yes, theres more. Remember GTA 3? Well theres a hole lot more in Vice City. Bikes, Helicopters, chainsaws. There is simply too much more to say so why not buy the game to find out. Actually just buy the game because it will be one of the greatest things that has ever happened to your console. THis game is a good enough reason to even own a playstation 2. (By the way I'd like to know if anyone out there has every single hidden package. Because I sure have ha ha ha.)

Sound

Now the sound in Vice City is a very big part. This is simply because of The ten different radio stations that Tommy can tune in and listen to. They include some very famous songs and sound absolutley perfect. Rockstar have definetly chosen the right songs for this game as there is nothing better to do than to cruise around Vice City listening to 'Billie Jean', or to go 100mph in an infernus while 'I ran', plays on your car radio. Simply fantastic. Also the sound has some other aspects in the game such as the way the characters talk which is done brillianty. For example, Tommy is quite a cool minded person so his voice is done to perfection as a cool minded voice. The sound works brilliantly!

Gameplay

Ok well then the gameplay. There is so many thing for Tommy to do in Vice City with those lets say, 14 buttons on the anologue pad. Now people might be saying, 'How the hell can Tommy do all this stuff like shooting his uzi out of his car window with just this many buttons?' The answer is quite simple though as Rockstar have made this perfect. The contols are so easy to get use to and gives a really great feel to the game. Driving the car coulde'nt feel more crisp than it is. Or shoting a sniper would be hard to make feel better. It simply is just one great big feel to the game as it seems very easy to use the controls which makes the game so great.

Summary

Grand Theft Auto 3 redefined video gaming. There's no doubt about it. It, more like he, stomped through the industry with a puffed up chest, a pissed off attitude and a really big gun. He proved that in a game, you could do absolutely ANYTHING, and not worry about the consequences, because there was always the little green button that said "reset." He was a game that created memories, a game that gave us experiences we talked about with our friends. He was a game that put video games on the map (i bet your girlfriend at least hear about it). In ten years, We'll look back and say "there he is, GTA3, the game that changed games forever." when it had been out for a mere six months, it had already made a place for itself in history, and become an instant classic.

Needless to say, this is quite a reputation for Vice City to live up to.

Fortunately for all of us, Rockstar has succeeded. the first words i heard about this game were "my god, it actually lives up to the hype!" and believe me, it does. The Main charector, Tommy Vercetti, has more style, charisma, and by far a better voice (Ray Liotta of Goodfellas fame) than our nameless hero from GTA3. The city, Vice City, is bigger, more complicated, and a lot tougher than Liberty City. In fact, pretty much every aspect of GTA3 has been expanded and upgraded, making Vice City on helluva sequel.

Sound

Surprisingly, Sound is one of the things that made GTA3 spectacular. normally sound effects and music aren't too noticable, but here they are a wonderful icing on what, here, is a very tasty cake. the music stations have hours and hourse of music, much of which i haven't heard (listening mainly to VCPR and Vrock, the best stations of course). you might here some familiar names and voices as you play through this game, including the brit obsessed with being spanked, Fernando martinez, and everyone's favorite smart-ass: LAZLOW!!! remember his comments about being kicked off the rock station?

As far as sound effects, each and every engine sounds differnt. wait, let me repeat that: each and every engine of the one hundred plus cars sounds different. the Stinger hums, the Cheetah purs, and the Oceanic... coughs.
As far as sound gos, this game lacks nothing at all.

Gameplay

Gameplay is, of course, a games single most important aspect. The sound can rock you, the story can make you cry, and the graphics can make you wet your pants, but if the game isn't any fun to play, you won't put in enought time for any of the above to happen.
This was my biggest worry for Vice City. Would Rockstar try to change 3's perfect formula? A formula that had stolen my life for an entire summer of complete video game bliss? or, perhaps worse, would the gameplay remain the same? would Vice City come off as GTA3 with a fresh coat of eighties paint? Or maybe, just maybe, Rockstar would somehow keep the flavor of GTA3, and create spectacular new angles to play the game with? Well, get down on your knees and praise the great Video Game god Googamooga, they did! Basicly, Everything you hoped this game would do it does.
The cars handle spectacularly. some slight physics upgrades have made all the difference. the cars never feel like they're doing something they shouldn't. The car never pull up on two wheels at odd moments, and when a cop starts shooting at you randomly and a bullet hits your tire, it blows out with a loud explosion, sending your skidding off at frusterating and odd angles. Also, speaking of cops, they can actually think this time around! Apperantly, during the eighties in Miami cops new how drive their cars fast, persue criminals, take cover, and aim their weapons. the cop chases get far more chellenging this time around, especially when FBI SUVs start slamming you against walls.
The cars aren't the only thing that have been reworked. while on foot, your new *duck* button (R3) is used a lot more than you might think, not to mention it is spectacularly intuitive. the new weapon system, in which only one kind of weapon from each class can be carried at once, is also beautifully executed, as there is not always a clear "best" weapon. I, personally, liked the M4 better than the Ruger, the remington pump action shotgun to the SPAZ automatic, and the M60 better than the minigun. Did i mention the guns are all real this time around?
