Summary Animal Crossing is an amzing Nintendo game that I belive everyone should play. The game takes place in an imaginary town which you name and live in. The game starts out with you being on a train and heading to your town. After you talk to a guy (or animal in this case) who ask you questions and depending on how you answer affects how your charcter looks. You have no money(bells in this game) so he helps you out. When you arrive Tom Nook provides you with a really small house but as you progress through the game it can get bigger and even include a basement and attic. As you progress through the game new town memebrs will come and go, and the seasons change according to your GC clock. There is so much to do in this game it is no way possible to complete in a day, a week, or maybe even a year! The Game works depending what time your clock is. It turns dark when it is turning dark and it even celebrtaes holidays. There will alos be town events to celebrate as well. Other things include Fishing, shopping, pulling weeds,Collecting Fossils, and even getting old school NES games. THese tasks may seem boring but Animal Crossing actually makes it fun. This game is literally endless. Another cool thing is you can visit other peoples town. All you need is a friends memory Card to visit there town. The Benefits include get items and fruits not available in your town. You can also make new friends in their town. The only Faults are the graphics seem out of date like more of the 64 era. Also the music can get pretty annoying. At the end I should say any GC owner should buy Animal Crossing especially now that the price is cheaper.Strength 1.Will take over a year to beat2.Includes 19 NES Games 3.Lots to do and collect 4. Able to use the e-reader(allows you to play NES games as well) 5.A secret Island that can only be accesed with a gba connetor to the GC. 6.House can be upgraded and friends can visit it. Weakness 1.Lame Graphics2.Music sometimes get annoying. Would you like to Comment? Join VideoGameReview for a free account, or Login if you are already a member. Summary Ok this game is just plain annoying. Yes its in real time 24/7 and yes its innovative but the fact is the gameplay, well there is little to none. All you do is run around giving packages to big headed people or collecting something and giving it to someone else. Thats about the whole point of the game. There is sadly no voice overs and truly bad graphics. Dont get me wrong I like the gamecube and I am a huge Nintendo fan but this game was a dissapointment. This game should have let you do more. Like it should of had multiplayer on the same memory card at the same time not leaving notes for people or visiting there town. Overall this game in my personal opinion has no point.Sound Well there were no voice overs and I cant remember the other sound.Gameplay Gameplay? there was Gameplay!? All you do is do stuff for other people who just walk around. It would have been more fun if you could have partys or invite people over like in the sims.Would you like to Comment? Summary Animal Crossing. The game that plays 24/7 even if you're not. The first of its kind, a unique game where you can live your life at your own pace. There are no rules and there are no boundaries of what you can do. If you angry, you can whack an animal over the head with a bug net. If you are happy, you can give them a present. You have many villagers to meet including cats, alligators, octopi, eagles, dogs, frogs, and many other kinds of animals. They each have their own kind of personality and they act on their own. Each animal is spontaneous in their actions, whether it would be giving you a bell, which is the currency in your Animal Crossing town, to taking away items in your inventory or even playing a game for furniture. You got interactive characters, your own house with a nearby store run by a raccoon to buy furniture and clothing, a post office to send letter, a dump and police station to pick up free items, gyroids and fossils to dig up from the ground, fishing and catching bugs to donate to the museum or catch for a pet, and special events that come up only once a year! For example, Animal Crossing is intertwined with real life. The internal time clock of the GameCube makes it possible to be sunny in your town while it is sunny outside. It can rain during cloudy days, thunder in the summer, snow in the winter, sunny in the day, dark in the night. There are friendly ghosts at midnight, Saharah the travelling carpet seller, Wendell the starving artist who gives wallpaper, and Crazy Redd, Tom Nook's competitor who sells rare items at insanely high prices. Animal Crossing is the most interactive game ever made and probably one of the best ever made.Sound The music in this game is really something else. The background music is mixed of different instruments, ranging from pianos to cats meows. They are very odd when listened to separately but when added together, it has a nice ring to it. During the game, you can choose whether you want your animal buddies to speak in beeps or some sort of gibberish language, which is actually English but just sped up. Along with the speech and background music, there is also the town tune. This is a general tune that is created by you and then is used by every animal as a greeting tune. Also, when the clock strikes an hour, it plays your tune with bells. To the music you get when completing a debt or when you get stung by a bee, this music is a great addition to the game.Gameplay During your life in Animal Crossing, you meet up with a turtle named Kapp'n. He is a special sea turtle and will only appear when you connect your Game Boy Advance to your GameCube with a GBA/GCN Link Cable. He appears in a boat at the dock and will row you out into the ocean toward your town's island. When you are done talking to your native islander and picking up some coconuts, you can go back to your own mainland town. But wait! You can even transfer your island to your GBA. Now, you can also collect and plant fruit trees. The lists of fruit are oranges, apples, pears, coconuts, cherries, and peaches. You start with one fruit and you get other fruit through other means or methods. One way is to trade with other villagers. Another way is a groundbreaking new feature. You can trade with other Animal Crossing players. By going to the near Tom Nook who sells furniture for your home, you can come to him with codes to input. When you input your code, an item comes out and you have your item. It is simple when you trade with other users. You set up a trade with your friend and then you go to Tom Nook. You tell him your friend's town and name, give Tom Nook the item, and it turns into a code. You give the code to your friend and your friend gives the code to Tom Nook. Tom Nook then turns the code into an item. Very nifty feature for trading by turning items into codes. There is even a dump where you can get free items. It is like your local trash dealer where you get cheap junk for free that nobody else wanted. Then, there is the police station, which holds the lost and found department. You can take any item you wish, even if you haven't lost it! There's a tailor house where you can even create your own patterns to wallpaper or carpet your digital house with or even wear as a shirt or umbrella! The local post office is where you can send letters to your fellow animal villagers with presents. It could be hate mail, love mail, or be a letter just to say hello. You can send letters to the Farway Museum with fossils where they would change the old fossils into dinosaur bones, which you can donate to the local museum or sell to Tom Nook for big bells! The local museum takes in fish, bugs, painting, and dinosaur bones. You can dig up fossils from the ground but who would want to dig up fossils when you could dig up the newest rock band that you can put in your house? That's right. They are gyroids. They dance around and make noise. They are tall and short, big and small, fat and thin. They clank and they sproing too. When you put 15 gyroids in a house, you got your own little orchestra of noise. You could also add instruments in your house, which you can play to your town tune. You could create your town tune to be the exact replica of the Godfather Theme, the opening sequence of the Simpsons, The Legend of Zelda ditty, or you can even make your own tune you juggled in your head all these years. When you first start out in your Animal Crossing town, your house is barely big enough to fit a bed. As you play along in your Animal Crossing town, you can upgrade your house to be bigger with a basement and a second floor! You even have a little helper called the Happy Room Academy. They rank your house in points so you can keep track on how good your house is doing in style. Not only that, you have classic NES games you can put and play in your house such as Punch Out!!, The Legend of Zelda, Excitebike, Mario Bros., Balloon Fight, Clu Clu Land, Baseball, Ice Climbers, Donkey Kong, and more!Would you like to Comment? Summary Animal Crossing is one of the best game's I have ever played. Sure, the GTA games are fun; blowing up every thing in sight, casually killing civilians, but those games just get boring after a while! It's the same explosion, or the same policemen coming to arrrest you. In animal crossing EVERYTHING is different! The time changes to real time, the sun goes down in real time, even the seasons change! I don't even own this game and I'm already obsessed with it! It's a little childish, sure, but it makes up for it in a million different ways! Animal Crossing is GREAT!Sound The sound is this game is pretty good. Full of different sound effects, songs, and other idnetifiable soundsm it's always fun to play. (Even sing along!) The only downside to this is that after a while, it gets kind of annoying. But overall, it's pretty good.Gameplay Animal Crossing's gameplay is surprisingly complex! Almost everytime I play, I find something new, or meet a new person! The greatest thing about it is that you can talk to other live players that live in your neighborhood! You can even sell stuff that they need to them. If you buy another memory card, (there's also one that comes in the box) you can go to another town! Although Animal Crossing is pretty much a game about nothing, it's a GOOD kind of nothing! I can't get enough of it! It involves real-time, so when it's Christmas for you, it's Christmas there. You might even get a presents from the other animals! You can slo start many different collections which include fish, (my favorite) insects, furniture, fruit, and more! You can even catch different things at different seasons. No matter what, I just always wnat to play this game!Would you like to Comment? Join VideoGameReview for a free account, or Login if you are already a member. Ages from 3 to 100! It's not even hard because my dad could even play it. I like it because you can choose what house you want if your the first one on that memory card. if your not the first one on that memory card you might not get the house you want and you can't pick which character you are, but it's still one of the best family games out. So I recamend it to anyone and everyone of all ages! So if you want to get any game for the family get ANIMAL CROSSING!Sound The sound isn't much better but the reason is they wanted the game to be long so i didnt like the sound ether.Gameplay Gameplay is ok but i've seen better! Like if you want get around in the town you should run but if you run you'll lose all your chances of catching a bug or a fish. Another problem is its hard to run from the beez.Would you like to Comment? Join VideoGameReview for a free account, or Login if you are already a member. Summary Buy a house, get a job, go fishing, make friends, decorate the house... get a bigger house, get a job, go fishing, make friends. I hate to say it, but it gets pretty old after a while. When I got this game I was like: "This is cool! I got a house!", but then about six weeks later I started to lose interest. After you do everything thats worth doing, nothing new happens. You start to think how Nintendo could have made this game better. But I've bounced back! (After about three months). What can I say, the games funner after a little vacation from it.Sound I like the way the animals talk, (If you don't you have the option to change it or turn it off) but the town melody gets really annoying. Thankfully you can change the music as well :)Gameplay It's simple. Walk with control stick, talk with the a button. But the simple controls makes the game funner! Any harder I would have just quit altogether. The game is'nt that hard to figure out either. About thirty minutes of playing is really all you need to get yourself started. Would you like to Comment? Kinda like the Wind Waker, I couldn't see myself getting used to the graphics. It had a very cutesy look to it too which didn't help its cause(in my humble opinion). After seeing the commercials and advertising more and more, I started to feel as though the premise of the game could actually be quite fun. So, I rented it, played it, and once I got the money, went out and bought it. The game has many, many hours of very fun gameplay. After awhile, you kinda get into a rut where you do the same things over and over again(mostly just trying to pay off your house). This doesn't come until after many hours of gameplay though, moreso than you'll get out of almost any other game you'll play.Sound The sound is pretty good. The game sports a different tune for each hour of the day, some better than others, but all with a good, run-around-town-doing-errands kind of fell to them. The sound effects aren't bad either. It's very appropriate and fitting to the game.Gameplay The premise is very simple. You move to a new town, get a house, and pay it off. Other than that, you basically get to run around and have fun. You get to interact with all your neighbors who someday, may pack up and move, making room for new neighbors. You can donate to the museum, create your own clothing designs, and go shopping at the look store, which increases in size the more you buy stuff from it, on top of many other activities available. Definitely, one of the funnest and most original games I've ever played.Would you like to Comment? Join VideoGameReview for a free account, or Login if you are already a member. I think it was horribly averitised. Nintendo needs to learn how to avertise. This game is perfect except for the grapics, which don't really matter much. Buy it, play it. That should be you're mission. My friend borrowed it for 2 weeks and has playedover 100 hrs. of it.Sound insanely greatGameplay coolWould you like to Comment? Summary This is truely a game for everyone. Who could not like this game i ask you? You can fish, hunt, talk to people, make friends or enemies, visit other towns, get new townsfolk and everything. You probably think im some 8 year old kid or something writing a good review but i am really 14 and i still am playing this game for countless hours at a time its just that great.Sound Ok I just love the music in this game. Especially when i have a rough day and i come home after 6 and the music is relaxing not loud and annoying. And contrary to popular belief the animals are actually talking its just in a higher sound wave if u listen closely you can hear them actually talking i love it.Gameplay So you start out on a train and talk to this cat named rover who like lives on the train or something and you tell him your name and where your going. Then when you arrive at town you meet Tom Nook who i personally dont like but anyways he gives you a house which is "cozy" but hey its still a house right? And it gets bigger. The controls for the game are simple and you can do what ever you want not like lets say the sims where you have to eat, go to the bathroom etc. Basically its fairly easy to understandWould you like to Comment? Yes they are always coming out with unique games to topple its rivals (Sony and Microsoft) Hearing that Double Dash wouldn't come out for some time, I surfed the net for some games that would fill the gap between then and when mario kart comes out. I found Animal Crossing and almost laughed at the screenshots... Let me tell you this one thing: Do NOT judge a book by its cover (Do NOT judge a game by the gay-looking animals on the front) This is possibly one of the most creative games I've ever had the joy of playing. The first few days were a little slow but once Tom Nook let me go on my own it became a life-size adventure... literally. The cool thing about AC is that it operates in real time. Whether you're there or not, The store will open and close, the holidays will come and go as well as the many unique visitors. The holidays are always a blast and every month has at least one to celebrate. The villagers are sadly randomized but you are guaranteed to like one of em'. There are many animals that could populate your little animal town, and they all have different personalities. Will you get a nice villager... or a cranky one? There is so much to do and with the changing seasons (Obviously it is set in a Humid Continental climate) that you will NEVER be bored. The fish and bugs come and go with the seasons... So you better catch em' while they're out.Sound Sound: Music to our ears =p... The sound is fabulous... the annoying voices can be changed into a much more livable beeping noise. The fish make noises, the bugs make noises, the frogs make noises, and the different floors make different noises. The music is extremely catchy and very cool. A+ in this department. It doesn't hurt your ears like some war games might but instead provides relief from the hardships of our everyday lives. Yes you should get it and YES you will enjoy the sounds this game has to offer to people who are willing to throw out some money and have a masterpiece that will last years to come. The 2nd installation is well on its way but to fully appreciate it you need to buy the 1st one as it will deepen its meeting and provide a special place in your heart as well as in your mind. This game is the best I own and none else can beat it. Again... the hour is upon you... Will you buy it or sit and play games that will never get you anywhere in this world we were placed in? You decideGameplay Gameplay is stunning. You start out on a train going to a little town that you get to name. You answer questions to decide your looks. When you get to town, you are poor and must start working off an enormous debt that only grows as your house is upgraded. If you're bored of talking to the animals or just want to have a good time, grab your fishing pole and try to catch fish ranging from 120 - 15,000 bells (That's the unique money system) Or grab your net and go bug hunting. Even late at night, there's always something new lurking beneath the shadows. Whether it's trading with friends who have the game or just laying back and trying to complete your catalog, there's always something new to do. Now, I don't condone this, but it is possible to time travel to do stuff you want to do. I personally don't do this because it takes away from the meaning behind the game. The town itself is small so a close-knitt neighborhood develops. It keeps you begging for more and every day is different. Delve into this masterpiece and play it for all it's worth.Would you like to Comment? Join VideoGameReview for a free account, or Login if you are already a member. Given the style of the game, it's no wonder that Nintendo designed it. It's certainly enjoyable for anyone with some degree of patience, and looking for something different.Sound The sound is done acceptionally well in Animal Crossing. There are dozens of quirky and catchy tunes to find and here. You can actually have a radio in your house and collect several cassett tapes with different styles of music, so every time you enter your house you hear it. The sound effects aren't very exciting, just adequate.Gameplay The actual gameplay of Animal Crossing is simple, but full of variety. Although the difficulty could be described as insulting, the amount of tasks and that can potentialy be performed are mind boggling. You play a strange looking animal character who moves into a new town, which you get to name both. You start out with a small one floor house and with little money. You first work for the local shop owner to pay off your debt, but eventually you can do jobs for everyone in town to earn cash and items, in turn making your house bigger, adding more floors and items. You can come across an item several different ways. You can do a job for someone, dig one up with a shovel, find it in the police station, find it in the dump, the list goes on and on. As a bonus from Nintendo, your character can even collect old NES games that you can actually play, which is an excellent idea. I believe there are around 20 to be had, with a few of those secret.Would you like to Comment? Join VideoGameReview for a free account, or Login if you are already a member. It even has its own money system. If you're a long time gamer, or a begginer, it does'nt matter because this game ROCKS!!!!!!!!Sound This game has pretty dumb music at first, but you can change the town melody to make it better. This game is just so good.Gameplay Like I said, just like life. The controls are pretty simple for a controller with only 7 buttons (I don't count start or the control pad), so it's easy to understand. Me and my 5 year old sister both play it, and we love it! It's easy to understand, but IMPOSSIBLE to beat. This game can't be beat. It's life, and life can't be finished in this game. You keep playing, shopping, running errands, redecorating, and all else. Summary Ah, Animal Crossing, the only game I can actually play. Perfect for an artistic, creative person, or a person who handles money well. Or a person who gets along with anyone. Well, that last one has to be to the EXTREME as the animals are a little hard to get along with. Harder than people.Anyway, this game is great for the strategic mind, and is mostly about getting along. The animals in your town are chosen at random, as are the town's features, and that makes it unpredictable. You get to design your clothes, house, and plant trees... theres more than I can mention. This is a great game, but DO NOT rent it. You need to own it to enjoy it! Sound Hahahahahahahahaha! Don't even mess with me! The sound is like... I think thats why your aloud to hit your niebors with a net. To make them shut up. The only reason I'm giving this a 3 is because theres an option to turn the sound of! =^-^=Gameplay What I love about this game is the amazing replay value. As the game never ends, you don't need replay value! Have you gotten your goal of bells? Maybe your house isn't perfect, or you can still save 137 more designs. Have you gotten every one of the hundreds of items and seen every character? There are these and more questions to awnser yes too before you can say you beat the game. No repetitive play here. You have to wait all year to see all the holidays, so don't even TRY to say you beat the game till' 2004! That wuldn't be enough time to finish the rest of the game though... see?! Amazing! It gives you so much freedom and offers so much content that you either discover something new or think of something cool to do every time you play. It's also a very cool social device, since four people can play in exactly the same town.Sound Once again, simple but brilliantly rendered. You can stalk certain insects by following their chirps, every animal plays a different variation on the (user defined!) town tune, adding trills, pauses, and sound effects to give each character their own personality. But the best thing so far has been that every type of wallpaper and carpet has it's own acoustic properties - they change the way your room sounds! Definitely a feast for sharp ears.Gameplay After your orientation, nothing is mandatory. You can even leave the game for weeks or months and pick up where you started, despite the fact that the game takes place in real time. I wouldn't call it a "sim" exactly, since most of the things you do to affect the town are pretty direct- chopping down the trees, doing favors (or not doing them- who needs it, man?), planting the forest, and writing letters that actually get some kind of response from the animals. However, there are a few minimal control issues.Would you like to Comment? Join VideoGameReview for a free account, or Login if you are already a member. Summary Animal crossings is the type of game where you think you've figured out every possible secret or obtained every possible item but then the next day you discover something new. That happens to me all of the time. Animal Crossings is full of so many surprises. You'll never get tired of it!Sound The music in this game in fairly good. Its not so annoying that you can remember the tune and hum it in your head. Most of the characters sound the same.
