Summary The only shortcoming to befall the Dreamcast, is the fact that I bought it for $200, when now you can probably get it and 50 games by trading in one Atari 2600 game. Other than that, the system was excellent and I was sad to see it go. The DC had some of the best games out there, and that's what makes or breaks a system, which is why I was surprised to see it fail. I believe it was the failure of the Sega CD, 32x and Saturn which led to the DC's demise. This was unfortunate, because Sega had some kick ass software, but I can't blame people for being put off by Sega's reputation.Even those Sega bashers out there still cannot deny the superior software for the DC. Resident Evil:CV, Crazy Taxi, the NBA and NFL2k series, Shenmue, Sonic 1 & 2, etc. The games were and still are some of the best out there, period. Overall, the DC is money well spent, especially since you can purchase a new one for $50 or less. Don't get me wrong, I still love my PS2, and I want a Cube desperately (RE anyone?) but the DC has an exceptional library of software that cannot be overlooked. Summary I absalutaly love the dreamcast console and i play it all the time. I am sure that dreamcast's are a lot better than playstations.the best games I have are; SOUL CALIBUR( fighting game, amazing graphics) TOY COMMANDER(realy fun,many hours of play, top graphics) HEADHUNTER MSR (car racing,exellent graphics and gameplay) ALIEN FRONT ONLINE( good gameplay,graphics,story.) I have owned a dreamcast for over 2 years and I still play on it all the time. I would advise reading a few reviews for dc games before buying them. If you dont want to waste your money. Sound The sound for most games is very good.mostly cool music that suites the game. Summary I bought this system the day the price came down last year during thanksgiving and its the best 50 bucks i ever spent on such a great system. There are tons of games available on this system and there are a couple of games that have better graphics than the PS2. this is coming from an owner of a PS2 and an XBOX so this is not a fanboy's review. i hate to admit it but i bought a PS2 and didn't even look at the dreamcast or its games till the price came down to 50, but now i dont regret it. If you do like games and dont mind spending the money equal to the price of a game on other systems then you should go ahead and get urself this system. too bad they stopped production of the system and also making games for the system.Sound The sound quality is good and although it might depend on the game you play it does handle sound pretty well.Gameplay I cant comment on gameplay for the system here because that depends on the games that you play. every system does have its good ones and bad.Would you like to Comment? I have the Dreamcast, two controllers, a VMU, Ulitimate Fighting Championship, Soul Calibur, Crazy Taxi, NBA 2K1, NFL 2K1, NBA Showtime, Virtua Tennis, Mat Hoffmans's Pro BMX, EGG, Jet Grind Radio, Quake 3, Sega GT, and I ordered Marvel VS Capcom 2. I play the system almost every day.I have some of the good games, but the Dreamcast library of good games is HUGE! There are all the great fighting games, such as: UFC, Soul Calibur, KOF 99, KOF Evolution, Guilty Gear X, all the Capcom games. If you're into racing there's Sega GT, Test Drive Le Mans, SF Rush 2049, Test Drive 6 and so on. There aren't that many RPG's that i'm aware of, but the ones I do know of are good, like Grandia 2, PSO, Skies of Arcadia, and Record of Lodoss War. And just about all the Sega sports games are the best. And there's still even more good games! And to think that the Dreamcast was selling for a mere $50. That's the price of a game! The only reason the Dreamcast died is because those spoiled little Pokemon loving kids had to buy into the PS2 hype, and it took a year to get some pretty good games, while the Dreamcast had definitive games at it's launch. But I must admit that GTA 3 is pretty sweet!Sound I have a home theater system and it's pretty sweet playing games in Dolby Surround Sound!Gameplay The Dreamcast's 200 mhz processor can still compete with the PS2, which is pretty noticieable with Quake 3 and Unreal Tournament. I have loved the controller ever since I held it in my sweaty hands, waiting to play Soul Calibur in 1999. That game still looks better than some newer games! It's kind of hard to believe since the dreamcast is about 2 1/2 years old. But anyways, the Dreamcast has something for everybody, and you'll probably never get bored.Would you like to Comment? They have some of the most challenging and exiting games out on the video game market today.I have a bunch of Games and these include Crazy Taxi 1 and 2,Sonic adventure 1 and 2,House of the dead, Marvel vs. Capcom,Resident evil code Veronica,NFl 2k2 which in my opion is the best football game they ever made and many more Sound The sound is very amazing. When you are playing a game and it is raining u will hear the raindrops hit the ground. when you get hit in a football game u will hear them grunt.Gameplay The Game play is very fun.
