Summary A really great game from the people who brought us the Warcraft series.Diablo is really quite unique as I have never come across a game of its nature in a long, long time. The game may seem impossible to finish at first, but trust me, play it constantly for a couple of hours , and you will instantly pick up the tactics needed to employ in this game. There were a few nice touches added to the game like each characters various abilities and skills, not forgetting your ability to "mingle" with the Townsfolk. On the whole all I can say is that Diablo is a really great game , as a matter of fact, shouldn't you be downloading the demo right about now?Would you like to Comment? Summary I have now owned my copy of Diablo for over a year, and it is good to know that games developers are incorporating lastabilty into their games. After I purchased this game, I played it for around 5 - 6 hours a day for 4 days before completing it. Diablo has enough depth of play for gamers to come back, especially since each level is randomly generated. Then I went on-line. Now this is where Diablo comes to life, play with (or against) up to 4 other players. Trade items, kill others for items, you can develop your own character (play nice, or play bad). Diablo has it all. I know I will keep playing it until Diablo 2 is released.Would you like to Comment? Join VideoGameReview for a free account, or Login if you are already a member. Would you like to Comment? Join VideoGameReview for a free account, or Login if you are already a member. Summary Someone said Diablo is not an RPG... well 4 me Diablo is the best RPG in theworld. Diablo is PERFECT!! And only a game may be more perfect than Diablo : Diablo II, hope it will come out soooooooon. And if R in disagree with me, just Mail me, or meet me on Battle Net.... Great Game ;-) Would you like to Comment? Join VideoGameReview for a free account, or Login if you are already a member. Summary Initially I was extremely impressed with this game. The graphics looked great, the storyline seemed interesting and the combat was fast and frenetic. Unfortunately it didn't take too long before the repetive nature of the game reared its ugly head. It's just a hack and slash game with the barest minimum of plot. As you move down levels you get new monsters to kill and you pick up new weapons and spells, but it all gets boring pretty quickly. I was quite surprised by the sucess of Diablo on USenet and the internet, but this is probably down to the multiplayer aspect. Even here Diablo fails to deliver, as the multiplayer game is ruined by player killers rampant cheating. In short I think Diablo could have been a contender, if it had a better plot, more character interaction and fairer internet play.Would you like to Comment? Summary Blizzard has really outdone themselves with Diablo, by creating a sophisticated game (despite the massive killing sprees) that is intriguing, redemptive, and with unprecedented replayability. I've been a Diablo addict for close to a year now and I still find myself playing (Pretty remarkable, considering my short attention span.). People who post and say the game gets easier obviously have n't spent much time in the multiplayer mode which allows you to pick differing difficulty levels. I have an advanced level 43 character and I still find tough situations that could kill my character. The gameplay is fairly smooth, although multiplayer connections on Battle.net and via modem game sometimes have poor latency resulting in bad lag, which can be disastrous in a "live action combat situation." The graphics of Diablo are stunning and the sound is also well done. Diablo was a great idea (albeit an addictive one) and I look forward to the future of Blizzard and maybe a newer, even more absorbing Diablo....Would you like to Comment? Summary THE BEST. If you do not have it, get it. I have the full version and have beaten it tons of times. The game is easier to win the second time through with the same character. You can also always improve you character with level ups. When you have won the games a couple of times I would recomend getting Unearthed Arsenal. This is an edition pack. GET IT.Would you like to Comment? Join VideoGameReview for a free account, or Login if you are already a member. Normally I wouldn't even consider a top down view of a game, but I thought I would give it a shot. This is a GREAT game! There just isn't enough levels! I could play this for months if there was more, more, more! I hooked up to the net and got up to a level 34 player before I decided that I could only kill everything just so many times. The next game, I don't care what it is. Its going on my computer. Summary I have to bring up this game's average, since it is by far the best game I own, and I played this for months after I got it! Beautiful graphics, but of course what really makes it is extremely user-friendly gameplay. If you don't like cheaters in multi-player, for God's sake join a guild and play in private games with the hundreds of members of a legit clan! I love having a game that I could both play right away (no need for lengthy manuals) yet find required some strategy and subtlety, especially on BattleNet (totally free!) when I have to coordinate my efforts with other players.Diablo certainly had minor limitations; a village of eight people whose "gossip" was uninformative, useless memory-wasting bored me, and apparently Blizzard also heeded (in Hellfire) the complaints that it took forever to walk from WIrt to the Witch. However, I could never get enough of this game, and forced myself to stop before I flunked all my classes.Would you like to Comment? Summary Great game, excellent graphics, and fab sound check.A nice and beautiful third person role playing game ever on PC. I've waited for a game like this on PC for too long. Now I feel it worths the wait. And now comes the darkside ; It lacks of story, very linear or almost NO STORY at all! Just get inside the dungeon and kick monsters butts. Lack of people to interact. Never seen a village with just 8 persons to talk to. Too short. Needs more characters to be played. It looks like those first person shoot'em up in third person perspective with RPG surroundings and statistics. But it still rocks! Especially in multiplayer game. Hope the next Diablo will be much more better. Would you like to Comment? Join VideoGameReview for a free account, or Login if you are already a member. A simplestory, purge a haunted church of all evildoers. Not a fully-fleshed out RPG, in the traditional sense, but your character grows in experience, learns spells and obtains many enchanted items as you slay a large variety of monsters. More like rogue than ultima7. Very realistic gameplay. As close as I can imagine to slashing your way through a cursed dungeon. What it does, it does extremely well. I admit I have become tired of it lately (after aprox 1000+ hours of play). Add-ons and sequels will probably flesh out it's weak points, but the basic game engine is very sound. No plot, no mystery, no strategy, just hunt & kill, hunt & kill, etc. Reminds me of one of those early "run and shoot Nazi" games my SO put on the computer! I played down to the very bottom level, then found a glitch that would've required starting from the beginning. It didn't interest me enough to do that -- once through was just fine, thank you, and killing the ultimate baddie just didn't appeal that strongly.Would you like to Comment? Summary Diablo Is the foundation for the next generation of top-down persspective online gaming.Granted, it does have its flaws such as too few levels, too few players allows in an online game, lack of random plot advancement, and a rather large number of players intent on doing nothing but kill you for sport. Aside from these relatively small problems, the game is simply addicting. Teaming up with a few of your buddies and working for hours to kill Diablo and earn that red dot is as fun as it gets. There are soooooooooooooooo many cheat programs out there, not to mention the "duping" which is built into the game. Even if you play by yourself you can cheat. Cheating allows you to go around and kill everyone who either does not know about or refues to cheat. If this appeals to you go ahead and play. But if you want to play without cheating do not accept "items" from other players. I know I did wihtout knowing what I was doing and soon found myself almost on Diablo's floor without cheating myself. I just had such cool weapons and armour (all duped without me knowing) that I would not die. I regenerated myself everytime I hit a monster. After I learned how far I had gotten the game sucked. I have not played since except to try out a new "cheat" oh well I'm sure they meant well.Would you like to Comment? Join VideoGameReview for a free account, or Login if you are already a member. Summary You know what this reminds me of ? Gauntlet ! Sure the graphics are cool..and the sound is fab.....but it doesnt offer much besides that. OK, it's not a real RPG, but God, it clearly is one of the best games of any genre to come out in years!! I had to post this to raise the score. Summary The worst aspect of Diablo is that it is not what many people expected it to be. Diablo is, in no way, a grand and sweeping RPG. It is, in fact, a rather narrow action game that does the few things it does very well. The online aspect of the game is very well implemented, with a great ease of use. Unfortunately, the problem of cheaters running about the online servers is an ever present one, taking away much of the potential enjoyment from the game.Would you like to Comment? Summary This game was excellent for playing online since it first came out but the game was ruined by hackers who made cheat programs making players industructable the game was no longer a challenge. Havn't played in a long time hackers that ruingames suck if you hack a online game keep the special shit two yourself and don't ruin it for the rest of us normal gamers that enjoy a game. Its true what the other guy said about clicking alot and CP controlling the characters could be improved and the perspective could have been 3D. Then it would be kickass!!!!Would you like to Comment?
