Summary

when i played the game initially, i was somewhat impressed by its gameplay. altho' the graphix was mediocre. the movement of "Agent 47" was kinda awkward.
but as i went along... i got more & more discouraged (& obviously bored). There wasn't any excitement in the game anymore.
by the time i got to the 2nd last mission... i just chucked the game aside.

now... if u really want an excellent stealth-based action-adventure game, there's only one game which is #1 in my books... & that's Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater.

HITMAN 2 just simply pales in comparison to MGS:SE. (my apologies to all HITMAN fans) :P

having said that... i would still consider getting a sequel to HITMAN becoz' i trust it will only get better.

Strength

good storyline & game dynamics.

Weakness

awkward (character) movement & controls.
graphix & sound are mediocre.
substandard gameplay which makes u not wanting more.

Summary

This game is one of the most intense and suspenseful gaming experiences I've ever had. You are a hitman for hire trotting around the world and taking care of business. There are 20 missions, tons of weapons, great music, and again, some VERY intense gameplay. I definitely intend to play this one again, since there is more than one way to complete the missions. Overall Rating: 4 1/2 stars

Sound

The soundtrack by Jesper Kyd is probably the best I have heard in a game. It is orchestral, but fits the atmosphere of the game very appropriately. It also adds tension at the right times and does give you the sense that you are doing your deeds in faraway places and different cultures. The voice-acting is good, and people talk in the appropriate languages. All weapons sound as they should. Even the sound of the footsteps of your assassin are determined by whatever terrain he is walking/running on.

Gameplay

I can't say it enough--suspense and intensity! The game is designed to be played in whatever way you choose. You can go in with guns blazing (which works much of the time, depending on the difficulty setting) or you can lurk in the shadows, behind corners, and within a variety of disguises. The game encourages you to use stealth and rewards you for being strategic and limiting "collateral" damage. Most missions will allow you to take out your target without harming anyone else. However, there are a few missions in which you'll have to send more than one person to the morgue. Much of the gameplay boils down to surveillance, getting disguises, staying away from guards (and most civilians), dragging and hiding bodies, finding and disposing of your target(s), and escaping. The real fun comes with choosing a strategy for the job and all of the tension created when you're sneaking around and trying to avoid being discovered. The only quirks I experienced with gameplay was the oversensitivity of the guards on a few occasions. Otherwise, this is a very entertaining game. It lasted me about 40 hours on expert (medium) difficulty. The controls are easy to learn as well.

Summary

Overall, a spectacular game. There are many. many different ways to complete each level and it is fun to play through and discover them all. The story is a bit dorky and Agent 47 sounds like some sort of weird nasal cyborg. Here's the story: After Hitman 1, Agent 47 just doesn't want to kill anyone, you know? He wants to plant tomatoes and confess his sins daily to some old fart priest. Thankfully you can skip through every cutscene. When you've seen a cutscene once, you don't want to see it again. So, this priest gets kidnapped by the friggin' Italian mafia for some reason. Well, Agent 47 wants to rescue this guy because he needs some closure. Unfortunately, he's gonna have to sign back up with "The Agency" in order to get the means of finding the priest. So, you do a mission and discover he's been moved and then you forget about him entirely until the last level. The storyline is dorky. The rest of the game is so rad you can't stop playing and your girlfriend leaves you.

Sound

Good, music is nice.

Gameplay

The gameplay is so rad. You can go in with guns blazing or you can do it all "Silent Assassin" style. Either way is deliriously fun, but it's definitely funner to figure out how to get through each mission "Silent Assassin" style. There are many different ways to beat a level. They are all delicious. It's a third person view, so sneaking up on someone is quite fun to watch as well as execute. The fiber-wire looks awesome when you sneak up on your target and strangle him with it. Hint: to get a "Silent Assassin" rating, bring only your fiber-wire and some anaesthetic.

Sound

The sound is mighty good, I liked the background music, conducted by the Budapest philharmonic orchestra, which really emphasizes the stealth of the game and creates a tense atmosphere, and the quality of the sound is quite good too, for everything from the music to the hilarious guard taunts and outcries.

Gameplay

For the format of game that it is, the developers of Hitman 2 have done superbly, it's stealthy, but not too stealthy, it’s realistic, but not too unforgiving and the game genuinely rewards good players.
Much like Goldeneye, a very balanced game.
As the name implies you’re a Hitman, you kill people for money, that’s what you do, so who was I to object.
Most mission follow the simple but engrossing formula of sneaking in, performing an assassination, and exiting undetected, you'd think this would get boring quick, but it doesn't thanks to the diverse selection of levels and the numerous paths that can be taken, it's only at about the thirteenth level that your attention span will begin to falter.
Oh my, the guns, the guns indeed, few games have such a vast array of widow making tools, my personal favorite was the garrote wire.
Few things beat sneaking up on an unsuspecting npc, strangling him, stealing his clothes and wandering into a dinner party undetected.
GOLD.

Sound

The music is great and the sound f/x kick serious booty. The weapons are the highlight of the show, and the voice acting is noteworthy.

I have had serious issues though, with sound cutting out completely - and if I try to quit the game, the screen freezes. Very annoying, I may just need to download the latest drivers for my sound/video cards...

Gameplay

H2 is a lot of fun! The developers really put some thought into this one and it shows. You're given a mission and it's really up to you on how to approach it. The replay value is right up there with the original Tenchu. Having the option to attack your target from various locations makes it quite exciting and extremely tough.

This is not an easy game...and that's the way I like it! When played with a little bit of patience, it can take quite some time.

The story line and the number of levels is more than I expected in a stealth/shooter. I actually haven't played the first installment, Codename: 47...but judging from the reviews, I'm sure I'll like it.

Sound

The sound for the actual gameplay is top level as we got used to. The music might be a little better, but being professional preformed it is okay.

Gameplay

Hitman is highly interactive as you can finish your missions is different ways. As an example you are assigned to murder 2 generals in a park, having a secret meeting. Your options are many. Bring a sniper-rifle and shoot them from long distance, kill their driver and place a car bomb in their cars, silently kill their bodyguards one by one using a silencer og go head-to head with a machinegun.

Hitman offers 20 missions which is way too few. They can be done in 5-8 hours with Expert settings. And there is no bigger battles like we had in Hitman 1. Exept if you move head-on with dual guns.

Hitman continues the great story found in the first game. The story is well covered making it a pure horror going through the missions, as you reveal more and more of a well planned complot.

Sound

the sound is really awesome. all the weapons sound realistic. especially reloading. the reloading sound is very detailed. the AI alert sounds are very sharp. the only sound that i really didn't like was dianas voice. she came out waaaaay to often.

Gameplay

The gameplay is out of all a strait 10 out of 10. Its unlike the other games where you just go and blow the crap out of all them in seconds. This is one of those games where you require patience to make your moves. and for the stealth part. whoa. all the other stealth games i had seen were just like deus ex where jc moves as fast a freakin car. in hitman he moves like an actual assasin that was pretty cool. other than that this game was very unique. i dont recommend it to people who dont have a lot of patience, other than that get this game its very very worth the price

Sound

Sound was pretty cool. Different languages, different sounding pretty. Though abit more sound can be used on the effects like when you choke someone with wire, we need more sounds of struggle...But i guess being a hitman and all..Youre not meant to make much noise.

OVERALL: Consider this an expansion pack over part 1. There is nothing special about this game..Its way too similar to part 1 to set them apart..At times part 1 is even better, but i wont down the game too much. I just dont think its money well spent. Buy Mafia instead.

Gameplay

WAAAAAY too similar to part 1. Sure there are many "missions" but hey so were in part 1. The gameplay is exactly the same thing. Same character, same concept..Same everyting.! Camera Angles and controls really alter the gameplay, being shot from the back is way too easy, by the time you use the mouse and keyboard to turn around and fight back, you're almost dead. Nup doesn't budge for me.

Sound

The sound rocks! I wish I could turn it very loud but in truth you need to tone it down a bit so you can hear little thing like footsteps coming from behind you. Some of the best music in a game yet!

Gameplay

The gameplay is great in my opinion. You are an asassin making various hits all over the world. There are many ways of completing this. For example in one mission you must evade security and make it to the third story of a building and make a long range sniping shot to kill an officer across the street in another building. In many cases disquise is the best option. For example in another mission you must go to a fancy resturant were an important general is having dinner with his collegues. You silently kill a waiter and take his clothes. Then you bring the general a glass of poisoned wine and slip into the night leaving him for dead. I thought this game had exellent story lines and there are many different ways to do each hit. You must be smart about were you go and what you do. You cant just run around shooting everybody like so many games today.Dont get me wrong though there is plenty of action in this game also!

Sound

Is it just me, or does this game only have about 4 sound tracks? After playing a thirty minute session of Hitman 2, I'll have the same, annoying "sneak around" track stuck in my head.

Gameplay

Gameplay is what hurts Hitman 2 the most. You start off in a church (apparently a trained killer is feeling a little remorse and now lives with his priest buddy). Within about 20 minutes, the priest is kidnapped by the mafia and they demand ransom. So you do what anyone would do if their friend was kidnapped by the mafia: you contact your old assassination agency and take up the life of a hitman again.
Let me describe the first level: you are perched atop a hillside and watch as a grocery boy delivers groceries,a bodyguard relieves himself, and a mailman delivers flowers..all at the same time. So the level has just begun, and you've already been presented with 3 choices. There is no clear cut choice..instead you'll have to make your own plan. It sounds interesting, but it isn't.
Levels consist of huge networks of rooms and corridors. You have to first plan an entry route, and then watch the guard's patrolling path for about 15 minutes to get into your desired location. One huge annoyance is the fact that there can be a dozen or more guards patrolling the area, and you have to systematically move through rooms while not getting caught. In most levels, if your seen, you will have to start over.

Another problem with Hitman 2 is that it is incredibly shot (can be beaten in 2 days) and has almost no replayability. My suggestion..don't get this game. If this still isn't enough to convince you..bullets move at the speed of a well thrown baseball. It is practically impossible to kill someone from a distance because they can easily dodge the bullet.

Sound

I never really feel the need to go to great depths about the sound. Its good. Nuff said.

Gameplay

The missions in Hitman 2 are very open-ended; basically you are told your objectives at the start of the mission, given a map and some weapons and told to complete. There are literally hundreds of ways you could go about your business, the choice is completely up to you. This aspect of the game is very rewarding, giving the player a true sense of adventure and critical decision making. However the biggest let-down in the game (and such a massive let-down considering the open-ended mission structure) is the enemy artificial intelligence. No matter what costume you are in, it always seems to arouse the guards suspicion, which sets them after you. As soon as they are within 5 feet of you, your 'cover' is blown and you're $crewed. This is very irritating as it soon becomes a case of competely avoiding the guards altogether making the missions a helluva lot harder than they should be. Another problem with the AI is that they seem to have a 360 degree viewing angle. This AI is such a problem because that is pretty much what this game is about, foiling your enemies. Controls are also worth a mention, as they are a little cumbersome (along with the camera).
