If you start to get bored with the ww2 theme, you can go and download tons of mods to make it better. I especially reccomend downloading Eve of Destruction, and mod that changes the game from ww2 to vietnam. Don't worry, you can change back any time. One of the greatest parts of the game are the amount of vehicles. You can drive geeps, tanks, mobile attilery stations, planes, and all sorts of ships, ranging from battleships and destroyers, to aircraft carriers and u-boats. You can also man all the turrets, including heavy artillery and anti aircraft flak guns.Sound The sound adds another level of detail to the game. I don't know what kind of surround sound it supports, but I can reconize a german tank or an american tank and tell them apart just hearing the cannon go off. I don't usually pay attention to sound detail as much as gameplay and graphics, but they're still incredible.Gameplay The gameplay is incredible. The frame rate suffers on a machine like mine (660 Mhz), but if you have a faster computer, such as a Pentium 4 2.4 ghz or something like that, it runs very well.My only complaint is that when you play online the frame rate will slow down when lots of action is going on. The online play is incredible other than that. It can support up to 64 people playing one game. Would you like to Comment? Summary The shooting of guns the big bang of explosions the impact of a cannon fired. All this and more is found on a war battlefield. Ill be honest with you ive played plenty of war games in the past few years. None have given me the experience ive had in battlefield 1942. The planes the boats the tanks and everything else HOray!!!!Sound Sound is great the effects sound like the real guns, boats and tanks. Aside the same song being played over and over agian in the menu. All and all battlefield 1942 gives an expierence like no other shooter or war game before it and will be rememberd for yearsGameplay The game play is good though at times laggy. Even on some of the fastest comps lag is found. Besides that animation is flawless and the part were a guy flys 5o feet in the air due to tank impact is kool. As well as face animations good job by dice on this oneWould you like to Comment? Join VideoGameReview for a free account, or Login if you are already a member. Summary Generally speaking, Battlefield 1942 is one of the best multiplayer games around, but it lacks in the singleplayer department due to the lack of a story. Singleplayer (=campaign) consists of fifteen maps in which you relive world's most heroic battles during WWII.Sound Well, let's say, those people out there, owning EAX and Dolby support should be in for a treat. Rockets flying over, bullets whizzing through the air, ... it all sounds spectacular. But I'm sorry to say: Medal of Honor still has a better sound.Gameplay Singleplayer mode hasn't so much to offer. Sure, there are fifteen gigantic maps, but there is no logical story woven between them. Your goal is to complete them without losing too much of your allies. You can play as a soldier, or a medic, or an engineer,..., each option has its advantages and its disadvantages. It's your choice. Tanks, airplanes, and boats are also at your disposal, fully armed and deadly. All these options and gamemodes offer lots of fun, I can tell you that, but furthermore singleplayer fails. It could have been a REAL experience if there was a REAL story involved.Multiplayer mode, on the other hand, won't disappoint you since there is no need for a good story. But the action and the fun remain the same. Would you like to Comment? Join VideoGameReview for a free account, or Login if you are already a member. Summary Fun Game. Very fun indeed. Would be even more fun if I had a cable connection. I had been warned that you shouldnt play this game with 56k modem, and they were right. Damn. My blazing computer didnt make a difference. Oh well. Single player is okay, but I can imagine how fun it would be with 64 acutal people playing.Sound Ehh. Not the greatest, but it does the job.Gameplay Tribes and Medal of Honor. Hold Control Points to earn tickets and drive down those of you enemies. Be a sniper- be a medic etc. Drive tanks, fire artillery, fly planes. bla bla bla blaWould you like to Comment? I did like WWII games but I had only found 1 that a really liked and that was MOHAA. So I looked into it and I decided that I would pick it up and see how it was. This was one of the best decisions in my gamming experiences. I started it up and went online and I loved it from the start. I was hooked from the first time I spawned into the first battle I ever did at Iwo-Jima. I couldn't seem to pull myself away from the game. The wonderful graphics and sound, and the way that it played were better than I'd seen in a long time. Its one of those games that hooks you and then reels ya in so that you'll never be able to wriggle free. It is a game that I think everybody should check out for themselves. Its a game that any computer gamer should have. Even if you aren't big into computer games you should still pick up a copy of this so that you can experience this for yourself.Sound This is probably the area of the game where I've seen the most conflict. I've also not seen really any in the middle point for this aspect of the game. People either say that the sound is horrible or they say the sound is great. For me I thought the sound was great. When you hear a tank fire off a round and see it explode in the middle of a group of men and see them fly every which way. Or a plane dropping its bombs on enemy armor and hear the bombs hitting the ground and exploding in a pillar of flames and smoke. The sound makes up a major part of getting the real feel of a WWII battle ground. I don't think it gets any better when your crawling on your stomach, trying to avoid the explosions from the enemy armor while you work your way to the enemy position. You get that feeling when the hair begins to stand on end and you feel as if you are really in a battle in WWII. The sound on this game is really good, I'm not saying its THE best but it is really up there with the top games.Gameplay The gameplay for this game, in my opinion is really awsome. If you liked the gameplay for MOHAA you'll really like the gameplay for this one. It is basically the same except for some of the weapons. As for vehicles it tops anything that ive seen yet. You can jump in the pilot seat of a plane, or drive anything from a tank to a jeep. Or just take on the enemy on foot as a sniper (my fav), engineer, medic, assault, or anti tank. I will say that being a sniper you will run into the problem of a glitch were a perfect head shot will not kill the person. But, I spend most of my time as a sniper and don't run into this problem that much. Basically this is a game were about any weapon or vehicle you see is usable. All in all I think the gameplay for this game is really good.Would you like to Comment? Join VideoGameReview for a free account, or Login if you are already a member.
