Summary I come from the generation of the original NES, and I think people of my age have a better understanding of what games of the year are. Thus said, Halo is a very colorful and visual game. But when I see 5 out of 5 reviews, I know it's some younger kids who haven't realized that FPS games are basically all the same. However this is one of the rather more enjoyable FPS and get get addicting at times during multiplayer battles. IN other words you'll be bribing your friends to stay with pizza and beer. But overal is it worth that fifty dollar tag that hasn't come down yet? I say unless you can't wait for Halo , when the price will probably drop, go ahead an buy it. But personally I think it's only worth about thirty bucks.Sound Sound is clean and the music scores are very nice. But this isn't a stealth game or any other type that requires a expensive surround sound theater. Ifn you got the surround, good, if you don't. you'll still be immersed enough to enjoy the game.Gameplay Loading times are very quick, but if you want to get technical, most games are for the x box and PS2. And the two weapon capacity is only there for annoyance purposes. Seriously, I'm already suspending my hold on reality by pretending to be a soilder of the future, but I can't see defeating a alien colony if Earth's advanced tecnology won't allow me to hold more than two weapons. The controls just take a little bit to get used to. It may take longer for new gamers or to the novice players of the X Box. Bottomline: Everyone thought N64 Controlers we horrific, but they got used to it and it's the same with the X Box. It will more than likey become second nature to blast your enemies away. Would you like to Comment? Join VideoGameReview for a free account, or Login if you are already a member. Summary Simply put, this is one of the best games ever made for any platform pc too. If you havent played Halo for xbox I pitty you, it is a really addictive, story driven, beautiful, FPS package. Fantastic story driven single player plus an amazing multiplayer component will keep you playing for god knows how long. Being an avid player of console and myself owning an xbox and a way powerfull 2.8GHZ I can simply not wait for the pc version of Halo to come out. Given the pc's power and potential stability etc, im hoping Halo pc will be better. But how could that be??? Microsoft, Bungie oh why do you have to make us wait till winter 2003 for your beloved Halo 2. We all know its going to be the best game ever and your sales will rake in billions. So why not do us a favour and release Halo 2 late this summer. Please. Instead of Q42003 or god forbid 2004. We want this game to come out when Doom 3 does for pc. July ish. Sound Seiously, this area isnt really lacking. Thesound is crisp and clear. Awesome quality. Sound is a 4.5 out of 5. But I dont really pay attention to sound when playing the game. Its really really good though. Gameplay Oh my god do i really have to go through the stupendous outstanding gameplay. Just read all the other reviews. Take my word for it. Totally awesome. Summary (Note: I was a very avid PC Gamer until a while ago, so my review will probably be a little biased) One of the BEST story driven FPS's for a console today. ALthough it's story is pretty average(Humans vs. Aliens in a race for a super weapon), it combines great visuals, good music, and excellent gameplay into one package that is bound to go down in console history. However, I wouldn't say that this game is REVOLUTIONARY...games like Half-Life and Deus Ex are revolutionary, for their interactivity, AI intelligence, story, etc....Halo is merely an excellent game. But don't let that stop you from buying this game...if you're a fan of first person shooters, get this game(even tho it's still 50 bucks, and Microsoft isn't willing to put it on the Platinum Hits list, grrr.....)...you will NOT regret it!!Sound I'm not EXACTLY sure if this game takes advantage of XBOX's sound capabilities, but this game has good music and great sound effects(the comments between the aliens are really funny!)Gameplay Your basic FPS, with a few little things thrown in:) For one thing, the AI in this game is abnormally good...enemies know how to react realistically in a situation, and squadmates fight alongside you with some skill, tho I'm not sure I saw too much teamwork among my enemies or my friends(i.e., Halflife's grunts). Another highlight are the vehicles...simply amazing....the control scheme works well, and the transition from vehicle combat to FPS and vice versa is seamless....great! The control scheme(overall) is pretty good...although I still would prefer to use a mouse and keyboard...Would you like to Comment? Summary Iv'e been addicted to First Person Shooters ever since I played the first Doom. At the time I thought it was great. Ever since then then I have been trying FPS titles and loving them. Like; Jedi Knight 1 and 2, the Medal of Honor Seies and much more. So when I heard about Halo, naturally I couldnt wait to get it. So I did. And not only is it the best FPS title so far, it is one of the best titles out of any game. The vehicles and the Counter and Co-Op multiplayer modes are terrific. I was very pleased with this game and I highly anticipate Halo 2.Sound The sound, where to begin. How about the weapons. Each and every weapon has it's own unique shooting sound which makes it very life-like. Also zooming in and out with certain weapon makes realistic sounds. Second is the enviornmet. When walking on certain types of terrain, the sounds you get are different. From the crunching of snow to the roaring of a warthog (military jeep that you can ride around in) engine. Flawless. I'm not going to say that enemy sounds are also flawless because I have never heard aliens. But if I did here aliens, that is probably what they would sound like. One more word. Incredible.Gameplay The gameplay in this game is unbelievable. Enemy A.I. is some of the best seen in any game. And the levels are as fun as they are challenging. And I never had a problem with it being slow in some areas or taking a long time to load. The only 3 problems I had with the gameplay is that it can get very hard sometimes. Also, I think there should be more weapons and levels. Other than those three things, to me, this game is flawless in the area of gameplay.Would you like to Comment? I was expecting the second coming with all the hype this game got. Is a good game? Very much so. Best game ever? hardly. Great graphics? Pretty much. Gameplay? Pretty damned good (better in driving portions).Good story? I guess, if you haven't played Dues Ex. What really really urked me was the repetivte enemies. Once you blow through the first couple of levels you know what to expect. Until the annoying Flood. then after two levels of them you know what to expect. Sound Very good. the sounds of battle really engulf you here.OK i gave the game a good review for its technical points. in those aspects it's top notch. It's just that i felt more compelled to play games like the original Red Faction and Deus Ex because i enjoyed the story and the characters. With halo i beat it just because I wanted to beat it. Oh yeah, the ending SUCKS, by the way. Gameplay I will admit that this is First Person Shooting at its finest. Very good controls and very little to no annoying platform jumping which was one of the reason I gave up on the genre before N64's Goldeneye. The AI is good. The use of 2 weapons is inspired, and the vehicles were fun excpet for the Banshee. Thank God that it wasn't need to often. Would you like to Comment?
