Summary Finally, after 2 years of waiting Halo has arrived and I am very pleased with it. For a flagship title this game really shines. Its the FPS game that has taken Half-Life's crown, something I did not expect when I bought this game. I cant wait till this game ports to PC, the possibilties of PC play will be groundbreaking. GO BUY THIS GAME!Sound The sound was exceptional, great effects and music. The music added to the feel of the game, lots of energy.Gameplay The gameplay is just amazing for a console system, I'm impressed at how well Bungie put it all together on a console. The atmosphere was done so well it felt like was on an alien world fighting a real war. Its the most immersive FPS I've played yet. The controls will take a while to get used to if you're PC gamer but they do work very well. The friendly and enemy AI is excellent, best AI I've seen yet. No baby-sitting was necessary. The vehicles were fun to use and very refreshing. The human weapon design could have used some better design I think, its 2552 and we're still using machine guns and shotguns?Would you like to Comment? Half Life was good but way over hyped in my opinion. This game really deserves the hype it has received.Sound the sound is something that I would like to burn a cd from and listen to it in my car. It really sets the mood for the game. Explosion effects and weapon effects sound very good.Gameplay The gameplay is astounding. I have played just about every FPS ever made for the pc and consoles. And bar none this is the best fps I have ever played. Playing a FPS with a gamepad has never been an FPS strong point but Bungie has done the best job ever with the xbox gamepad. The AI is astounding the gamepad works fluidly. You'll almost forget your playing with a gamepad. Your squad mates actually are intelligent. The story directly influences the gameplay experiance. You've never ran from rock to rock taking cover like this before. The weapons all work excellent. Snipering is awesome. But the one true effect I love more than any other is the grenade explosions. If an enemy is any where near the grenade you'll see a body flying through the air with arms and legs wailing all over the place. You'll never get sick of seeing this happen. Sometimes they get blown against the wall and it is just so cool. Also the gamepad has the best rumble effects I have ever felt in a game.Would you like to Comment? Summary Halo so far has been by far one of the best gaming experiences in a while. This one easily lived up to the hype in my opinion. Its starts of slow but when the action begins, and when you finally land on the planet, it really is a fantastic experience. The opening was kind of weak with pale textures and a very poorly animated general but as you play the game, it seems that they made the intro campy on purpose. What you see later in the game is leagues better graphically than what you see in the opening.Sound Even without a dolby setup, the effects are excellent with decent pumping tunes when the action gets hairy. The banter between our fellow soldiers is excellent and comical.I wish I haad dolby as I am sure it would be much better. Gameplay Gameply with the xbox controller is actually quite good, and very responsive. Movement is via dual anolg sticks, with each stick acting as a button as well. But I'm giving a 4 for stuff I haven't seen yet.Sound This I'm not going to rate because it was plugged into a crappy stereo. I have a 10,000 home theater at home, and when I get my HD AV kit, it'll be a different story. So I'm giving it a 4, though I'm imagining it'll be a 5.Gameplay Maybe comparing a first person shooter on a console to a first person shooter on a PC is not fair, but consoles are made for games, so they should be better. In my opinion, after playing quake or unreal, or whatever 3D shooter with a keyboard/mouse interface, HALO is just crap. When Microsoft or a 3rd party come out with a keyboard/mouse interface for the xbox, then I'll reconsider. But this is SLOW and LAME compared to anything on a PC of the same genre; simply because of the control. It makes a HUGE difference.Would you like to Comment? Summary I walked into Compusa expecting to buy myself a router for my PC and it was bannanas in their. I was wonderin why so I walked to the crazy spot. And there it was Halo and the X-box. I immediately jump into the madness and get out of the store speeding to my home to play this tremendous game. If you are any sort of a gamer (i am not a huge fan of fps) you have to buy this game. YOU KNOW WHAT I AM GOING TO RUSH THIS REVIEW SO I CAN PLAY IT AGAIN.Sound Everybody sounds real. The grass the Warthog all sounds real. YOU MUST GET THIS GAMEGameplay THis is probably the best part of the game. The AI is so intelligent. There are also so lifelike. I was so immersed into the game and felt like i was in this war that i found myself sacrificing myself cursing to save a marine. Summary Excellent!!This game immerses you into the world of HALO. An incredible trip into a thriller that lets you go anywhere and do anything. It's like playing an intense movie that keeps you wanting to find out "what's coming next". I can't remember when last I played a game like this that hooked me in. I think it was the original Legend of Zelda on the NES. WOW, games have come a long way. The thing the excites me the most is that this is a first generation launch title. Can any sane person not be crazy not to buy an XBOX? Knowing that first gen is like this!! This is a must have for all XBOX users. Sound Perfect. The movie like sound tracks give the game depth and meaning. Invoking emotion in you that will have you catching yourself twisting and rolling with the action. The sound was definately not a component that was over looked.Gameplay Game play is fast and thought provoking. You have to think, and pay attention or you'll miss something. That's what keeps your total attention. I heard of controler problems with the XBOX, but I have no idea what they were talking about. The controler is great for me. Summary This game is nothing short of spectacular!!!! Its got everything a great game should have. Great graphics, great sound, addictive play, intense hardcore action, and just about everything else. This game was the only reason i bought an xbox and its worth every penny. Truly amazing.....Sound The sound is incredible. The music is very cool and the sound effects are perfect.Gameplay Halo is a FPS and its bar none the best FPS on either console or PC....I've played just about every FPS made and this is the most intense and addictive one to date. Summary Halo is the first must buy for the XBOX..The graphics are outstanding and the sound and controlls are all the best i have played ever..And that is saying alot..The games A.I.is also superb with enemies hiding and jumping and rolling and charging you to take you out..IF you own an Xbox you must buy this game.Sound The sound is just outstanding you can hear the enemies talking saying where you are and your allies will state different funny things also..The music in the game also changes during different events and times..Gameplay The basic gameplay will involve you going through different environments and using the Xbox analogs pads to move..One pad is used to move while the other pad is used to look up and down or left and right..All the buttons displays are setup perfect and being able to crutch down is a very nice touch..Would you like to Comment? Summary I was skeptical at first due to the game starting off on your spaceship as it is being attacked, i thought "ok this looks great but ive seen all this in halflife and other games" Well that was quickly dispelled once me and some troops escaped in an escape pod and reached the planets surface. I remember cussing out loud when i seen the lush grass , giant waterfalls and the beauty of the planet. A one of a kind game, it deserves all the great hype its gotten, this should be your first game hands down.Sound Unbeleivable sound, you really do get immersed in the HALO universe.Gameplay Didnt take long at all to get the hang of it , the dune buggy takes just a little bit to get used to but gameplay is fantasticWould you like to Comment?
