Product Description

Sound

Sound is clean and the music scores are very nice. But this isn't a stealth game or any other type that requires a expensive surround sound theater. Ifn you got the surround, good, if you don't. you'll still be immersed enough to enjoy the game.

Gameplay

Loading times are very quick, but if you want to get technical, most games are for the x box and PS2. And the two weapon capacity is only there for annoyance purposes. Seriously, I'm already suspending my hold on reality by pretending to be a soilder of the future, but I can't see defeating a alien colony if Earth's advanced tecnology won't allow me to hold more than two weapons.
The controls just take a little bit to get used to. It may take longer for new gamers or to the novice players of the X Box. Bottomline: Everyone thought N64 Controlers we horrific, but they got used to it and it's the same with the X Box. It will more than likey become second nature to blast your enemies away.

Summary

Simply put, this is one of the best games ever
made for any platform pc too.

If you havent played Halo for xbox I pitty
you, it is a really addictive, story driven,
beautiful, FPS package. Fantastic story
driven single player plus an amazing
multiplayer component will keep you playing
for god knows how long.

Being an avid player of console and myself
owning an xbox and a way powerfull 2.8GHZ
I can simply not wait for the pc version of
Halo to come out. Given the pc's power and
potential stability etc, im hoping Halo
pc will be better. But how could that be???

Microsoft, Bungie oh why do you have to make
us wait till winter 2003 for your beloved
Halo 2. We all know its going to be the best
game ever and your sales will rake in
billions. So why not do us a favour and
release Halo 2 late this summer. Please.
Instead of Q42003 or god forbid 2004.

We want this game to come out when Doom 3
does for pc. July ish.

Summary

(Note: I was a very avid PC Gamer until a while ago, so my review will probably be a little biased) One of the BEST story driven FPS's for a console today. ALthough it's story is pretty average(Humans vs. Aliens in a race for a super weapon), it combines great visuals, good music, and excellent gameplay into one package that is bound to go down in console history. However, I wouldn't say that this game is REVOLUTIONARY...games like Half-Life and Deus Ex are revolutionary, for their interactivity, AI intelligence, story, etc....Halo is merely an excellent game. But don't let that stop you from buying this game...if you're a fan of first person shooters, get this game(even tho it's still 50 bucks, and Microsoft isn't willing to put it on the Platinum Hits list, grrr.....)...you will NOT regret it!!

Sound

The sound, where to begin. How about the weapons. Each and every weapon has it's own unique shooting sound which makes it very life-like. Also zooming in and out with certain weapon makes realistic sounds. Second is the enviornmet. When walking on certain types of terrain, the sounds you get are different. From the crunching of snow to the roaring of a warthog (military jeep that you can ride around in) engine. Flawless. I'm not going to say that enemy sounds are also flawless because I have never heard aliens. But if I did here aliens, that is probably what they would sound like. One more word. Incredible.

Gameplay

The gameplay in this game is unbelievable. Enemy A.I. is some of the best seen in any game. And the levels are as fun as they are challenging. And I never had a problem with it being slow in some areas or taking a long time to load. The only 3 problems I had with the gameplay is that it can get very hard sometimes. Also, I think there should be more weapons and levels. Other than those three things, to me, this game is flawless in the area of gameplay.

Sound

Sound is amazing. I found myself downloading all the songs on KaZaA shortly after. The music goes great with the action, so much that you feel powerful and just play the game naturally. The Sound is definitly one of the best parts of the game. TRUST ME! BUY THIS GAME! IT IS TRULEY THE GREATEST GAME EVER MADE!

Gameplay

Game Play is excellent for Halo. The gore and the action is superb. The moment I played this game, I could not put it down. The game is even coming out with a sequal and and a book prequal! The book: Halo: Fall of Reach, informed my on everything in the game. The story is simple. You are a highly advanced soldier in the year 2500. Your job is to keep the enemy from finding the location of earth. But before you can start, you crash land on Halo. Then you...Well, You have to play the game to experience the game. Let's just say the ending was AMAZING! There are no glitches what so ever and Halo is a game you definitley buy. Don't evern rent it, Buy it! You'll be glad you did!

Summary

Halo is an oustanding game. Outside of the usual and obvious factors of graphics, sound, and gameplay, Halo offers an interesting and intense plot that gives purpose to your missions. It's an impressevely well-balanced game. There is a fair variety in weapons and enemies strategically placed throughout the entire game. The weapons all have strengths and weaknesses, and compensate well for one another. The game limits you to caryying only 2 weapons; an interesting twist that most FPS games don't offer, but forces you to budget your ammo and think ahead for the situations that you anticipate you may be engaging.

Weapons are logically placed as well. You won't find a stray gun or med pack without some logical explanation for its placement. For example, you may stumble upon a fallen comrade and pick up an extra clip or grenade, also giving you the opportunity to switch weapons, if he was carrying something that may have suited the situation better than what you are currently toting.

Both the enemy and friendly AI is stunning. Your troops will flank enemies when you are laying down cover-fire, or request cover-fire if they need it. If they can see you are moving in for a kill, they'll cover you. They're also smart enough to jump out of the way of your fire, or duck under it. If they throw a grenade, they'll call it out to the team.

The smart team-mates don't come without a consequence: the enemy is every bit as cunning. Enemies will also duck under your fire, hit you in the face to blur your vision so they can drop a grenade by you and run. Sometimes, enemies will die clutching a grenade. As they fall, the grenade will engage and as you run by their dead bodies, it'll detonate.

Vehicles add another nice perspective to the game that many other FPS games don't offer. You can pilot several different vehicles. Friendly soldiers will often come with you in your vehicles, firing at enemies as you drive past.

As the game progresses, the plot takes a few twists, and the degree of difficulty increases.

If multi-player is your thing, Halo has kept you in mind. There are several different multi-player modes, all of which are customizable and can be saved for later play.

Sound

The sound is also top-notch. The game supports surround-sound. The ambient sounds are impressive, as are all of the incidental and regular sounds. You'll hear a large variety of extra phrases which your comrades will utter... everything from taunts to combat commands, as well as panic-struck utterances.

Sound is an element in most media that goes unnoticed, unless it's bad. Chances are very good that you won't even notice the sound in Halo.

Gameplay

The controls are easy to learn. It may take PC gamers a little wihle to get used to playing with a controller, rather than a mouse, but in time, the controls will feel comfortable.

The levels are well-designed and take you in and out of doors often. The level design makes good use of real-estate in that the plot may force you to cover ground you've already been over later in the game, but you'll find that the second time through will present new challenges and goals, such that the level may look familiar, but feel quite a bit different.

Vehicles are easy to control, once you understand how they work. They all pilot similarly.

Sound

Sound was perfect, it fit the game to every detail, it would change so unoticibly it would go from "ahhuhhahhhoooahhh" to "duh duh duh duhduh" and my heart would race as i saw the flood coming after me, but them with my trusty shotgun i would blow limbs off, then feel a sigh of relief when it thumped to the ground. also the screams and yells of the Covenant were great and sounded so real. put that on surround......

Gameplay

Fantastic, but a bit repetitive if your not an FPS enthusiast. The computer AI is very advanced, i notice that if im in a dark corner or hallway, the enemy will walk right by without noticing me, but if i turn on my flashlight or move around or out, they will notice me, and come after me. also, watching the enemy fight the enemy-Flood.VS.Covenant- was spectacular, and vehicle manuevering was spectacular as well.
