Summary

Halo is a very, very fun game... But yet it gets pretty easy, and convusing.
The aliens are very funny I had a great time with them... Well I mean the small ones.
The worst part I guess about it is that the game is too confusing. In some parts I couldn't tell where I was suposed to go. They make it in some places easy to tell where your suposed to go, but as I said before in some parts you couldn't tell where you were suposed to go.
The best part is that you can play mutiplyer in the campain!!! I thought that was great! In most games you can only play againist each other... But in this game you can just beat the whole game playing with your friend, family member, etc. It is good for me because I have some friends that just plain suck at the game... But when we play on the same team they're actually pretty good. But when we play againist each other they don't stand a chance!
I also thought the varity of weapons and veicles were wonderful and how you can drive a worthog and have you be the driver and your friend or just the computer be the gunner or passenger.

I think anyone who has a Xbox needs to get Halo!!!

Summary

Halo is probably THE best FPS ever made. Sure, there are people who like Half Life more because it was the original story driven FPS and is nostolgic for them. Others like Golden-Eye more because it was the first really good console FPS and again holds nostalgia for them. Haters also like to mention that Halo can't be the best because it's not "original" and brings nothing "new" to the table and everything in it has already been done before, in one form or another, in numerous other FPS's. Well I'm here to tell you they are WRONG! Sure Halo has almost all the multi-player aspects of Godlen-Eye. Sure it has the story driven aspect of Half-Life. Sure, it also has the vehicles of Tribes and some stratigic elements from Rainbow Six. But guess what. Halo is Halo.
It is not ONLY those parts of all the said FPS's thrown together. It is more than that. If someone decribed "GTA 3" as "Driver" with parts of "Die Hard Trilogy" thrown toghether, would it do the game justice ? You would know right away that they are either wrong or trying to hate.
If you took all the best parts of all those FPS mentioned above and SEAMLESSLY married them together, you would ONLY have the base of what Halo is. You really have to play it through to really appericiate it, as there is no other videogame experience like it.

Sound

Great sound. Even if you don't have Dolby Digital 5.1, which this game is able to run in, every sound is crisp and clear and appropiate for what it tries to represent. The music is also phenominal too. It's original, and fits the mood of the game perfectly.

Gameplay

Where do I start. Precise. Flexable. Stratigic. Astonishing.
Halos, tecnically, controls without a hitch. There is really nothing much to complain or worry about when you are controlling Master Chief. The controls are integrated perfectly onto the Xbox controller. So much so that it really made me wonder if Microsoft had this game in mind when they created it as everything is instantly accessable, precise and completely intuative to the experience. The moveing and aiming are handled
with two different analog sticks which are offset from one anotheron the conroller(I cannot tell you enough how much this helps me subconsiously differentiate that these two sticks have different purposes). The aiming is precise, yet flexable, in that it's sensative enough to follow any movement you give it but it also allows for slight mistakes on your part by kinda guiding you when you get close to an enemy. Great! Fireing your weapon and grenade throwing with this conroller are also handled perfectly. The Xbox controller has two triggers onthe bottom, a left and a right, which your index fingers are ALWAYS sitting on. There's nothing else down there to distract them. The left is used to throw your grenades. The right is for the trigger on the
gun in the game. That's it. There are no modifying button down there, no zoom in buttons no nothing. Just your finger, a trigger, your reflexives and an unsepecting alien. It doesn't get any better than that in this game. The face button are handled resonably well too given that there are six face buttons. The more important buttons are up front, like reloading, switching guns ect., and the least near the back, like turning on/off your flashlight. Great controls!
You are only allowed to carry two weapon with you at any given time, so you have to watch your ammo, what kind of weapons you need in a given situation, what kind of weapon your enemys have so you pick them up off their corpse if needed. But that's just the tip of the iceburg. There are vehicles in this game that are all drivable AND/OR flyable. Each has it's own assortment of weapon at your disposal and some even let you transport friendly troops, if they aren't killed first that is. Vehicles are EXTREMELY important in this game AND very useful.
Now, while the technical aspect of Halo's controls are great, it's the intangible aspects that put this game over the top. To put it simply, this game has some of the smartest A.I. in gameing history and really makes the single player campaign a stratigically filled, one-of-a kind experience the nearly equals the amount of fun you'd have playing multi-player with friends. Everyone in this game seems to be really fighting a real war. Throw a grenade at an alien an watch id dive for cover. Kill every alien except one and wach it run for it's life only to find support, gain some courage and come back for more. Not to mention the marines you are fighting with. They will run around you securing areas and start to get excited when a fight is drawing near. Shoot one of your own soldiers once and they will start to quesion you. Shoot them again and they'll start shooting, AT YOU! ASTOUNDING!

Sound

The sound, i thought to myself is this a game or a big bugit film? also you can even hear the grunts asking themselves if they are going to die!!!! once even when i was gunning down all the helpless grunts i herd one say... Oh no it's big daddy cyborg, he's going to kill us all. good stuff i know. and one more thing JUST BUY THE GAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gameplay

THE GAME IS THE MOST IMMERSIVE GAME EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED!!!!!!!
on the first level when you are trying to escape the Pillar of Autumn ( Human space craft ) I was wondering if I was ever was going to even get out alive.
!!!!WARNING SPOILERS ON NEXT PARAGRAPH!!!!!!
on the sixth level i found myself wondering what kind of freaky thing had hapenned to the missing marenes who had disapeared in an uncharted part of Halo.
Phew... ok it's over!!!
ok lets just remember the game plays good with good and custimizible controls. Oh also the AI is unbelivible, probably the best i've ever experienced!

Sound

The sound gets great scores as well. The voice acting is pretty good. You will get praise from your fellow marines when kicking a little enemy behind and they don't appreciate it much when you kill one of your own. Nothing is better than hearing the enemy grunts shout out "Grenade" when you toss one their way or "He's everywhere" when your showing them what's up. Hilarious and great additions to the game. Weapons sound pretty good too, but could be a little louder. With a decent sound system, Halo will not disappoint.

Gameplay

First the good news. The default control scheme is nice, and there are three others to choose from. The responsiveness of the "look" stick should be turned all the way up, as it is a little slow when looking up and down on the default setting. Personally, I would have liked to be able to fully customize my control scheme, to something a little more Turok like, which should be the norm these days for these kind of games.

One thing I really like about Halo, is getting to cruise around in the humvee-jeep-like Warthog, with a few of your marine buddies tearing up the place and running over enemies. A tank with a very powerful canon and a Ghost hovercraft type of ship is available to operate as well.

The action is fun and can be real intense at times. It always seems that right when you are completely out of ammo, the action dies down, then there will be a boatload of goodies in the next room. I don't think Halo is either really hard or really easy, but it should be played on one of the higher difficulties.

If you are into multiplayer gaming, then Halo shouldn't disappoint you.

Now, the bad news. This is honestly the worst level design and redundancy I have ever seen in my life in a first person shooter. I feel it really takes away from the game as every level is the same thing over and over and over. Just when you turn the corner and think to yourself that the next few rooms can't possibly be like the last few, they are. For this, Halo has to drop a point. This is totally unacceptable and it should be looked into for the next release. If it wasn't for the action and the occassional messages from your little girly computer friend, you would damn near fall asleep.

Lastly, and another reason Halo drops a point, is the fact that only two weapons can be carried at a time. Throughout the entire game, you will continuously have to keep swapping weapons with other weapons which is a real pain. This is another thing that should be corrected come Halo 2. While ten weapons is a little too much, two is a little to few.

Sound

the sound is awsome! i have surround sound so its even better, its awsome how the bullits just fly in the air! and that plasma bursts explode on the walls or on the ground, i like the way the shotgun sounds following the explosion of a SENTINAL exploding and then falling on the ground.(its fun to go up to a sentinal and hit it with heel of your gun, untill it blows up and takes away half of your health.)

Gameplay

gameplay? ummmmmmm, i dunno, its fun to shoot an alian and then through a grenade on it and watch it go sky high! by that i mean, the gamplay is so awsome that my friend comes over to my house and says "can we plz kill some covanant?"
somtimes we even start to kill each-other in the middle of a covanant on-salaught. and its funny how the grunts will say a hole bunch of dum thing like "hes gonna kill us all!"or "hes every where" dum put so very true.

Sound

Hearing little grunts muffle out various naughty words always brings a special joy-tear to my eye. The music is also awesome (surround sound is cool) and change with the setting. You really don't notice sound much in multiplayer but it does set the mood (it ain't no Bradybunch music) and really can get your heart going when a player is right behind you. This game never does fail...and no situation is the same. It's multiplayer is as good as Super Smash and maybe a little more...

Gameplay

although the controls require a learning curve...play enough and you will see the obvious advantage that the x-box controller has over other systems first-person-shooter-wise. Don't be stubborn when it comes to sucking at this game because you have difficulty with coordination and getting over the fact that your Seamonkeys have died. Motivation simply comes with the fact that people are better than you and have a bigger pokemon collection(not true for me....but i have heard names). Snipering is very good fun not to mentioning pushing steel in the back of of someones head.

Sound

Another area which Halo can thank the XBox's ability to use Doby 5.1. Listen to the pattering of dirt and stones as they fall back to earth after an explosion, or to the hollow ringing of a fallen bullet shell in the silence after taking down an enemy with a sniper rifle. Not to mention the howling winds in tight spaces and the crunch and squeak of snow under your feet and the hilarius taunts of the covenant grunts as they run in terror as soon as they see you weilding your assault rifle. and you cant forget the kickass sound track that pumps the adrenaline round through your veins at lightspeed!

Gameplay

With the freedom of movement and easy controls to master it will feel as easy to use as a first-person shooter on a PC. The added use of vehicles just adds to the overhwelming excitement of being stranded on the ring world known as Halo, which later you find isn't just a perculiar planet, it is
