Summary

Sonic Heroes is one of the more intriguing games of the series. Finally, after a drought of no new Sonic games from the Sonic Team, here comes the much anticipated new release featuring Sonic and crew. There are four teams, each composing on three characters. Each team has a speed, power, and fly character. Team Sonic is Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles. Team Dark is Shadow, Rouge, and E-123. Team Rose is Amy, Big, and Cream. Team Chaotix is Espio, Vector, and Charmy. Team Chaotix is composed of very old Sonic characters, revived from the ashes of the old Sonic games. There are 14 stages to blast through during the game, each with astounding graphics and incredibly well composed music. With a mysterious invitation from Eggman, the four teams are out for their newest adventure yet.

Sound

The audio is the kind of music you'd expect from Sonic. It fixes the mood to the stages. If you are playing in a haunted mansion, it will have a different tune than Seaside Hill. The music is vibrant and really sets a mood for the game. It's a wonderful job done by the Sonic Team and no big complaints about the music. But, since some of the levels are longer than others, the music can get somewhat repetitive after a few minutes. Overall, this game is worth playing. It is one of the latest Sonic games that has been released and updates on many errors the past two Sonic Adventure games have made. With the unique team system of three characters and special abilities, this game should be a blast to play. The shocking speed, the crisp graphics, and the fitting music all comes together to make this experience that can only be reached by the Sonic Team.

Gameplay

The gameplay is fast and furious. Much of it is modeled to the original and can be related in terms of loops and speed. The ring system and the item boxes are all the same, which does help. The light dash is still here, which Sonic can execute, and there is also the grinding, which can be found in some of the previous Sonic games. It is a very fast paced game and with the unique three player team, you can switch to complete the task at hand, which makes the game innovatively creative. Each team has a member who can fly, attack, and speed. The member with speed can run faster, the member with attack can destroy enemies faster, and the member with fly can carry their teammates up to safety. The only two gripes about the gameplay are the two player modes and the camera. In two player mode, the gameplay will slow down and the FPS will be reduced by half. It is very slow and nearly impossible to play due to its slow speed. It takes away a lot of the speed elements that the game has. Also, the camera can also be awkward. When running up a ramp, the camera may switch positions, which then confuses the controls from running on the ramp to running right off the ramp. These two problems could easily have been fixed with more time. Sonic Team was too fast in releasing this product and should have delayed it to fix these problems.

Summary

Me again! i have posted in at least ten different games. well, i can be reached with strategies for the game or explanations at sonicheroes93@yahoo.com. this action packed super speed, flying high, pack a punch game makes an impact on your life. the objective is "teach that eggman a lesson" (part of the sonic team theme)he can be found after you beat the last stage. afterwords, a big boss appears. when playing sonic, you can do many things that include speed affects including run the speed of sound. with tails, you can fly great distances to avoid evil menaces. when playing knuckles, you can bust walls and even bust eggmans smirk. hey eggman, say cheese. let's show that eggman the true power of teamwork!

Sound

works perfectly with the awesome graphics, making this an even more realistic game.

Gameplay

a great speed game that requires great reflexes, a great personality, and a perfect plan to destroy eggmans happy minute. have fun!

Summary

This game's awesome! All you people you don't like this game are, well not smart. This game offers intense team action with great looking characters and levels! Check out what I think in detail!

Sound

I really like the sound added to this game to make it even more worth while. There are really cool backround tracks like in the Casino levels and in the Egg Fleet levels. There are theme songs for each team and I have different opinions for each. Team Sonic's instrumentals are good. but the words are to lighthearted for me. If 1 was lowest and 5 was highest for a rating I'd give Sonic's theme a 4. For Team Dark however, there's is overall goodness with lyrics that flow and great instrumentals. I give it a 5! Team Rose should just get a new theme song if they even could because they're so pansyish. I give it a 1. Finally there's Team Chaotix. Despite the fact that they're a group of nobodies in the game their theme song is pretty cool. It has sweet lyrics that flow and awesome instrumentals. I give it a 5! The backrounds are overall pretty good except for those bad few which you always have in any group of anything and the theme songs are all good except for Team Rose. I don't think anything about them is good. Oh well! That's it for me. Peace out and may Sonic and his buds and enemies live on forever.

Gameplay

I really admire Sonic Team's Idea to create teams to play as instead of one person. I like that! One thing I think could be changed is the amount of time you spend as one character. I mean come on in some levels all you play as is the power guy. They're cool (well, Omega and Knuckles at least) but still. I mean in Sonic Adventure 2 Battle you had those stupid levels where you would hunt for treasure. At least though in that game the plots were resolved. This game is a major cliffhanger (if even that) and it totaly leads you on to some sort of sequel. What bothered me was Team Dark's ending. I mean come on it's not even a cliffhanger. I think they just said "oh lets just drop the plot hopefully they won't notice:)!"***SPOILERS AHEAD*** I really think they also could have like involved all the teams in the ending. I mean in Sonic Adventure 2 Battle when Sonic and Shadow fought the final boss? I think they should have done that so Shadow could gain his memories back. That would have been cool or if all the speed characters turned super form and all the characters did team blast! That would kick butt! My favorite character has always been and will always be Shadow and My favorite team is Team Dark. I know some of you people out there don't like Shadow but if you read this I think you'll know why I do. I mean come on his hair's the coolest, he's the ULTIMATE LIFE FORM. What more do I need to say? His colors are the best and he just sits there all cool like and watches other people moan and complain about there problems. Yeah well the biggest problem overall was the holes in the plots. Like I said " no one will notice."

Summary

FINALLY! A 3D Sonic game that is actually fun more than 30% of the time. If you have played any of the other 3D Sonic games, you will know that Sonic Adventure 2 was only fun when playing as 1 character per team (unless if you enjoyed crappy slow shooting levels with Tails, or spending about 3 hours looking for stupid crystal shards with knuckles, in which case if you do, please come over to my house so I can punch you in the brain.) You'll also know that Sonic Adventure 1 wasn't that bad, up until you've finished all of the Sonic and Tails levels (Tails has nice Sonic-like running levels, although he has the added fun of racing people to the finish). After that, you once again have to collect all those damn emerald shards as knuckles (this process comes by a little faster in this game, as you can look for all three crystal shards at the same time in one level, instead of having to find 1 at a time as in Sonic Adventure 2), escape a robot as Amy (kind of fun, but really slow compared to Sonic and Tails levels), go on a shooting rampage with the robot E-102 Gamma (although somehow his levels feel much better than those of Tails in Sonic Adventure 2), and, get this, god-awful fishing levels with big the cat (I would rather have pryed my toenails off with my own hands and eaten my leg than do these levels. Seriously, this is barely even WORTH the final ending). Well, in this game, NO MORE! You wanted running, and this game gives you nothing but that, and classical robot-punishing moves. The graphics are bright and sweet, the environments are cool (although some can get frustrating) and the action is always tight (you won't get bored easily). Finally, there seems to be a lack of story. For example, at the first scene: ****slight spoiler about beginning scene*** If playing as Team Sonic, in the first scene, which is about 5 seconds, you see Sonic do some running, then Tails and Knuckles fly beside him in a plane, and give him a letter from Eggman that says he's going to take over the world in 3 days. The Sonic and company all start running, and you're instantly thrown into the action. ******End of slight spoiler at beginning of game***** All other teams have different opening sequences, but each of them last just as long. Maybe even shorter. The good: A decent 3D Sonic game The bad: There's still a few bugs to work out. Also, story feels kind of rushed at the beginning.

Sound

Thank you God! A decent soundtrack! Once again, if you have played Sonic Adventure 2, you might remember the God-awful pop and rap soundtracks with the incredibly terrible lyrics and beats that haunted you night after night (I swear to God.... some lyrics in one of those songs are "Got to follow my rainbow" and other types of lame little things). This game just plays regular oldschool Sonic beats during all the levels (no lyrics whatsoever. Except for the opening sequence song, but the video itself makes up for it). The good: Nice lyric-less beats The bad: Opening sequence song, Team Chaotix theme

Gameplay

The good: Running and jumping. And way spiffier ways to fight. The bad: Expect frustrating falls to your ultimate doom. Also having to re-do each level four times, although they are all slightly different per team. Here's the dealy. You control a team of three. One is a speedster (always my favorite. Best for on-foot travelling and killing certain shielded foes), another is a powerhouse (ranged attacks are great with this guy. Best for fighting most enemies), and finally, the occasional annoying guy that flies (Tails sounds worse than ever in this game. He sounds barely even old enough to be going on this adventure) All other flyers are just as or more annoying, including Rouge the Bat, who dresses up like a hooker, and a weird robo-bee. Although some character's may be a little unbearable (and even though you'll have at least one per team), this really isn't that bad. It's like having Jar-Jar Binks in Attack of the Clones (Oh, wait, nevermind. That movie SUCKED even without Jar-Jar). Uhm.... It's like having an annoying character in every great movie. Or game. Whatever. Ok, anyway, getting back on topic, you switch between these characters to do take on different tasks. The flyer can fly over long distances and take care of flying enemies. The powerhouse can take care of almost any enemy as well as weak walls and rocks, along with crates that hold little secrets sometimes. And the runner... he well...... runs.......... oh yeah, he can also help through certain enemies off guard with his spiffy wind attack. He's the fastest member of the group (d'uh). This character-switching on the fly system feels great, although it may take some time to getting used to. Ok, on to the bad. You'd better have patience with this game, because more often than not, your death is going to be caused by somehow falling into oblivion. Very frustrating, especially when you've gone a long way without passing a checkpoint. Also, the camera can be very aggrivating to deal with. Finally, boss fights, especially the ones when you fight other teams, can be very confusing or boring. When you fight other teams, it's very easy to lose track of what is going on. I have found myself win team fights and then hear myself say "....what the hell just happened?!". It's not that they're too fast, but it's that they are awkward with that damn camera that makes it impossible to see the other team most of the time, as well as small fighing environments. Against Eggman, the Boss Battles usually involve running after him in whatever machine he is in and beating the crap out of it once you catch up. This can be easy, but very long and boring. Once again, though, even with these fights, the rest of the game is great for Sonic fans. For beginners, use team Amy or whatever they're called to be eased into the game. Yes, I know it's an annoying team, but the tutorial and ideal easiness is good to get you into the game, because the other teams have it pretty hard. One last thing I had to add in, each level has it's own little themes. For example, one level has you mostly grinding rails and dodging armored trains, while in a casino-themed level, you will find yourself part of various casino games, such as pinball and slots.
